A.N. — In an unintentional bit of connection, I'm moving from one type of wood to another. I lied earlier, when I said another Gaunt would kick off the next pair. The next two drabbles are both about Gryffindor quidditch players, kicking off with their fanatical captain.

255. Oliver Wood

Quidditch was life. Oliver struggled to comprehend why everyone didn't understand this.

His whole life at Hogwarts was centered around the season's schedule — practice, games, then diagraming plays and dreaming of victory in the downtime. Oliver was certain what he'd do once he graduated; going pro was the only option. So, he put maximum effort into all things quidditch and let his classroom performance and social life suffer.

And yet, when Oliver did realize his goal, he found the fun lacking as Puddlemere United's reserve keeper. Perhaps he'd been more successful at the social aspect of Hogwarts than he'd thought.
