A.N. — And we're following pairs with pairs again, this time with the one I promised last week. These two are all about doing hard time, and the imprisoned not believing they deserve their sentences. The date is for his summons to a hearing.
257. Morfin Gaunt
Prison had changed Morfin Gaunt. His beliefs weren't shaken by a stay in Azkaban, but Morfin's body was a different story.
He'd been released and come home to an empty house, his sister gone and father dead. With Marvolo no longer there to provide discipline, and Merope not doing the household chores, Morfin fell into as much disrepair as the Gaunt shack.
When Tom Marvolo Riddle sauntered up to his uncle's dwelling, he found Morfin an easy mark. Morfin ended up incarcerated again, though this time he went to prison bragging of "his" crimes instead of railing against the authorities.
