A.N. — A few days before Hermione's birthday, it's time to tackle the professor of her favorite subject. The only professors I've left to write for are, I think, pretty major ones in core subjects (rather than today's elective subject professor).
260. Septima Vector
By mid-September, it was clear which students were going to cut it. But Septima had to teach Arithmancy to them all, lack of math skills or no.
Her field was a numbers-based magic, yet most still entered her classroom unprepared. It pained Vector to see children eager to start her subject grow to loathe it because both their families and Hogwarts' curriculum failed to give them a grounding in the basics.
Vector had a reputation as a taskmaster. That, too, pained her, that her tutelage had to be harsh in order for the students to have a chance to succeed.
