A.N. — And now for a birthday that's really not worth celebrating. When one allows their body to be used as a host vessel for a Dark Lord, that basically revokes your birthday privileges. Still, I rather like both this weekend's drabbles.

269. Quirinus Quirrell

He preferred to keep teaching Muggle Studies, but what Voldemort wanted, Voldemort got. So it was that Quirinus Quirrell took up the Defense Against the Dark Arts post which Tom Riddle Jr. had been denied.

Quirrell would've chuckled, if he wasn't afraid of Voldemort overhearing. Imagine the Dark Lord teaching students about electricity and automobiles! Quirrell then gulped. Imagine Voldemort learning, through him, about firearms and atomic bombs.

Paradoxical as it seemed, perhaps teaching DADA was safer after all. Surely someone as brilliant as his Lord wouldn't let himself run afoul of the very curse he'd placed upon the position.
