A.N. — One last empty day in canon before I dive into a string of connected drabbles. So, it's one last opportunity for me to plumb the depths of the untagged pool of characters before I go back to more well-navigated waters. Can you tell by the watery word choices who I'm going for here?
283. Murcus
Merchieftainess Murcus, like all Selkies (and, indeed, all her fellow water-dwellers) loved music. One of her conditions for allowing the second task to take place in the Black Lake was that she be the one to sing the message song given to the champions. She put a ton of emotion into the melody, so that those who heard it would grasp immediately the severity of what they had to undertake.
She knew, fundamentally, that merpeople's voices sounded different above water. But it absolutely devastated Murcus when she first heard screeching wails coming from a golden egg. Her reputation was ruined!
