A.N. — This man's placed here because Harry had a pensieve experience on this date that featured today's character at his unsympathetic worst. So, this drabble is another example of viewing a character through another's eyes. Also, one last call: the next two days are up for grabs.

287. Armando Dippet

The callousness of former headmaster Armando Dippet was at the forefront of Harry's ruminations when he emerged from Dumbledore's pensieve.

Like Harry, Tom Riddle wanted to stay at Hogwarts rather than return to a prison-like environment, and had been denied. In this way, Dippet accelerated Riddle's descent into darkness. And now, Dumbledore was making the same mistakes his predecessor had.

Harry never thought he'd be drawing more parallels between Voldemort and himself, nor sympathizing with his plight. Both headmasters had been fond of their charges, but through Dippet's inaction and Dumbledore's meddling, both boys had been set on perilous paths.
