Figuring out the steps needed to hatch a basilisk had already made Herpo famous in some circles, and infamous in others. But his latest breakthrough would ensure his name lived on forever... as would he. All it had taken was one measly murder!
Herpo saw an unfilled niche when he'd begun seeking more arcane magical knowledge. The stigma against anything considered Dark detracted most from its study. Herpo was not most people. Morals were easily shed when faced with the tantalizing prospect of being the first to discover something. Herpo felt the results he reaped were well worth any repercussions.
