A.N. — Today's drabble finds me adhering to canon's timeline for the first time in 10 chapters. The spirit (get it?) of Halloween is continuing with another character who's already passed away... but not passed on. Though I'm betting a fair few at Hogwarts wish he would, with Filch heading that queue.
297. Peeves
Peeves was already predisposed to pulling pranks. Not receiving an invitation to Sir Nicholas' 500th Deathday Party just gave him another excuse to indulge in his favorite pastime.
Of course, the lack of an invite wouldn't keep a mischievous poltergeist away. Peeves prided himself on the quality and quantity of disturbances (and disturbed individuals) he caused; a celebration to crash was like manna from heaven for Peeves (not that he had any first-hand knowledge of the hereafter).
It wasn't personal against Nick or his guests. Peeves had a single-minded focus on high jinks; nothing (literally!) would get in his way.
