A.N. — Sometimes, I place characters in certain places due to their connection (or lack thereof) to the people around them. This is a first in this collection, I think: today's character is here because of her name alone. Though, trigger warning: she is sorta connected to the last two chapters via death.
298. Morag MacDougal
The library is Morag's refuge, the only place in the castle where she can just be.
She daydreams of death in History of Magic, and spends Charms feeling decidedly down. She's attentive in Potions, if only to better devise poisons to use to painlessly slip away. Herbology's an exercise against the urge to unpot a mandrake. Midnight Astronomy lessons, after an already long day, are a constant struggle to not jump off the tower.
But books are an escape; they don't judge. Morag's at home in their pages, like she never will be at Hogwarts, or in her own body.
