A.N. — We're one drabble away from 300, and I'm returning to the earlier theme of non-human characters as a huge hint as to who gets the honor of featuring tomorrow. While today's character is similarly named to yesterday's, she's not in the site's tags like Morag was.
299. Mosag
Mosag held no love for her mate Aragog. She'd done her duty by bearing his offspring; what more was there supposed to be? Mosag didn't figure this out until Aragog's death.
Suddenly, duty was not just reproduction; it was responsibility. Mosag had an army of acromanutla that now answered to her and no clue how to proceed. She'd spent her entire life following orders, not giving them. Yet her young looked to her for guidance.
The secret, Mosag found, was letting them police themselves. When battle breached their Forest, she let those wishing to fight leave, and protected the rest.
