A.N. — Like yesterday's subject, today's man also is in charge of a school that showed up at Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament around now in the timeline. He also snitched on tomorrow's character (among others) because he's obviously a me-first kind of guy.
301. Igor Karkaroff
Igor Karkaroff never intended to wind up as Durmstrang's headmaster. Being in charge of hundreds of children was not the army he'd envisioned himself leading. But when one served the Dark Lord, advancement options were slim (despite the frequent personnel turnover), and rising to the top spot was out of the question. Seeing fellow Death Eaters murdered, whether through enemy engagement or their leader's whims, set Igor on a career path he still rued more often than not.
But what truly mattered were his interests, and Igor was still alive and sane. It sure as hell beat imprisonment in Azkaban.
