She was looking for something. What exactly it was eluded her.
Shuffling around the ward on atrophied limbs was a strain that ached just as much as the pressure on her mind whenever she tried to focus on a memory. Both wound up with her back in bed, trembling in exhausted pain and no closer to any answers.
Receiving visitors was its own kind of agony. She should know these people. Instead, everything was fogged over, lost to the hazy ether of her past.
The woman called her Alice. The boy called her mum. Which one was her name again?
