325. Death
Deities like Death were supposed to exert limited influence over the living realm. But Death was wily; he savored finding loopholes for his machinations.
Humans were so easy to manipulate; the three Peverell brothers were no different. The trio were nothing special except for their magic, but with the touch of Death, they became legends... and came to him with debts. Death faked outrage over being "cheated" out of their souls, only to reap them later in a far more satisfying way.
Death's ledger was always in his favor; material possessions, after all, didn't follow the living to the afterlife.
