Rise of the Noble Gizoid
Chapter 1: A Hero's Redebut

"Da ba, da ba ba ba, Da ba, da ba ba ba, Da ba, da ba ba ba, Da ba, da ba ba ba, Da da da da da da da da!"
Sang Gemerl the Gizoid as he landed in the garden of the summer house of his close friend Cream the Rabbit and her mother, Vanilla, while carrying an enormous tree with one hand.
"Man, this song is seriously catchy!" Gemerl said to himself, "Whoever composed this 'Rise of the Icon' should get a raise, big time!"
Without any more ado, he tossed the tree into the air, made quick and careful calculations, flew up into the air and used several Knuckles Chops to slice the tree into perfectly sized and shaped firewood which fell back down, all neatly stacked in a triangle shape.
"Ah, this is the life!" Gemerl thought to himself, "Free to do what I want, no program to tell me what to do, to be able to think for myself and to be with my old friends again! It can't get any better than this!"
He had come a long since the days of his past self, Emerl, meaning 'everything' in the ancient tongue, from being a soldier of the Nocturnus Clan, to being abandoned and rediscovered by Professor Gerald, the noble grandfather of Sonic's sworn nemesis, Dr Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik, to fight alongside and against Sonic and his friends, to his heroic self-sacrifice, to his reconstruction in the Mad Doctor's image, to being discovered by Cream and Vanilla after his defeat and finally to being rebuilt by Tails and to be the hero he wishes to be.
After that, he gained a reputation as Station Square's resident hero, always ready to help those in need and stop any crimes that were being committed by crooks and other ne'er do wells.
"It's been peaceful since the last bank robbery I stopped and hauled the creeps that tried to rob it to the slammer." Gemerl thought to himself, "While I enjoy the peace and quiet, I wanna get back to beating up bad guys again, or I'll start losing my processor!"
"Gemerl, over here dear!" cried the voice of Vanilla, causing Gemerl to turn and look at the older female mobian rabbit who had stepped out of the house.
"Hey, Vanilla!" Gemerl said, waving his left arm, "I just need to get one more tree, and we'll be good for firewood for several years!"
"That is very good to hear." Vanilla replied, "Though I must ask…"
She went over to the right side of the house and asked, "Do we really need this much firewood? I feel as though you may be going a little too overboard…"
Indeed, for there several other stacks of firewood, nineteen in all, thanks to Gemerl making the newest stack.
There was enough firewood for many of the houses in the city and then some…
"Ah it's fine, Vanilla!" replied Gemerl casually, "That just means we've got enough firewood to use here and back at your main house near Night Carnival!"
Vanilla had to admit that it was true, but still…
"Besides, didn't Tails say he was going to come make a shed for the place so the wood won't get rotten? I guess we'll just ask Tails to- - "
"EMERL!"
A shriek from inside the house caused both Gemerl and Vanilla to turn their heads to see a rather worried Cream who was poking her head out of the window with a worried expression on her face!
"Hey, what's the matter kiddo?" said Gemerl as he and Vanilla made their way to the window.
"There is something terrible on the news!" the young girl exclaimed.
Vanilla was about to ask her daughter what it was when a tune could be heard from Gemerl, causing both rabbits to look at him.
"It's Tails giving me a holler!" said Gemerl, recognising the ringtone, "I better answer and see what's up!
Clicking his left audio receptor, the gem on his forehead glowed and soon a holographic picture of Tails, who was apparently flying on the Tornado 3 appeared!
"Gemerl, thank goodness you're here! We have a situation on our hands!" exclaimed the two tailed mobian fox.
"What's the situation?" asked Gemerl, crossing his arms together.
"Eggman's forces are attacking!" Tails replied worryingly, "He's staging an invasion on Westopolis! GUN is trying to defend the area alongside Team Dark, but they are being pushed back! Eggman's here personally and from what I've heard, he's being accompanied by what appears to a Gizoid!"
Silence soon hanged in the air, shifting the mood from earlier entirely…
Gemerl soon said aloud in a grim tone, "So, the time has finally come…"
It had to happen eventually.
Ever since Robotnik used Emerl's remains to create Gemerl, he finally found a way to replicate the technology of the Nocturnus Clan, the creators of the Gizoids, and could potentially create Gizoids of his own.
Ever since discovering this during reconstruction, Tails has tried many times to try and get in contact with GUN to pass on this information to Shadow and Rouge, the organization's top mobian agents and two of the members of Team Dark, but he had no response from them in months.
Gemerl and Tails both suspect that there is dissention in GUN's ranks, but they had no evidence to back it up.
And now, it seemed that Robotnik has made his first move, starting by taking over Westopolis, which had been declared a ghost town ever since the Black Arms Invasion, led by the insidious Black Doom.
"What do you think Eggman's game plan is?" asked Gemerl, "What's he gonna gain from setting up shop in a ghost town like Westopolis?"
"It could be for any number of reasons." Tails replied, "Strategically speaking, Eggman could use Westopolis as his main base of operations from which he can invade the surrounding states and expand from there after he's taken over the country."
Gemerl nodded
That would be a logical explanation, with no one in the city to stop him, Robotnik could easily take over the entire area and do whatever he pleased.
"My moneys on Westopolis being where one of the Chaos Emeralds are. He could never resist trying to get a head start." a familiar voice replied.
"Sonic, is that you?" said Gemerl, surprised that the blue hedgehog was there as well.
"Indeed." Tails replied, "In fact, he was the one who told me what's going on over there!"
Gemerl soon asked, "So you guys are heading your way over there?"
"You bet!" Sonic answered, "And we would appreciate it if you could head over there to lend us an extra helping hand!"
"In that case, sit tight, I'm on my way!" Gemerl replied, "I'll be there shortly!"
Gemerl ended the transmission and was about to head off when Cream cried, "Wait, let me come with you!"
"No way little lady, absolutely ixnay to the tenth degree!" Gemerl snapped, "No way in blazes am I gonna bring you into a literal war zone!"
"But I can help, Emerl!" Cream retaliated, "I've been into battle before!"
"That's when you had Amy and the others to help you, and even then, it was another of Eggman's dumb plans!" Gemerl retaliated back, "I am not prepared to take you with me and have to explain to your mother why you were full of holes!"
Cream had a sad look on her face, sad at being unable to help her friends…
Gemerl sensed this and said kindly, "Kid, sometimes, you gotta learn to pick your battles and know which ones you can fight in. This ain't one of them. Besides, I'll be fighting for the both of us. So, I need you to be strong and stay with your mom where it's safe, ok?"
Cream cheered up at that and nodded and replied, "Just be sure you come back safe and sound, Emerl…"
Cheese the Chao, who had been behind his owner this whole thing, fly up to Gemerl and nodded his head, sharing his owner's concerns.
"I intend too." Gemerl replied, "Besides, you can watch the action from my eyes with the new computer Tails installed!"
Both mother and child looked at each other and smiled.
They forgot about that!
Seeing that everything will be fine, Gemerl said, "Now if you two will excuse me…"
He walked away from them, turned to the general direction of where Westopolis is, activated his jet pack and added, "I'm off to kick some robot aft…"
And with that, Gemerl sped off into the air, while Cream and Vanilla cheered him good luck and then made their way back to the house.
Meanwhile at Westopolis, the only sounds that can be heard were that of laser and gun fire as the desolate city turned into an escalating battlefield with the forces of GUN on one side and Robotnik's army at the other.
The GUN forces were fighting bravely, but the tide was shifting the enemy's favour as more and more Egg Pawns and Gun Flappers continued to pour in, shooting down Gun Hunters and Gun Wings that were in sight!
GUN had the advantage initially, but as the battle raged on and on, even the help with Team Dark, GUN was slowly pushed back and back.
Over at the barricade, the human and mobian GUN soldiers as well as several Laser Hunters, Shield Hunters, Gun Wings, Laser Hawks, and any remaining Gun Hunters and Gun Hawks were fighting a losing battle as they saw a veritable swarm of robots marching forward towards them…
Things were rather grim…
"Where the heck is Omega!?" yelled Rouge, the infamous jewel thief and the organization's top spy as she tossed a grenade at several advancing Egg Pawns which exploded on impact, "We need that overgrown bucket of bolts here, and we need him now!"
"Sorry Agent Rouge," replied a French female mobian swan, who fired several shots before ducking back down, "but we've lost contact with him! He probably charged on ahead to take on several enemy troops by himself!"
"Grr, of course he would do that!" Rouge growled as she picked up a machine gun and fired at several Gun Flappers, blowing them to smithereens, "He's never around when you need him, always causing a big scene!"
Firing several Chaos Spears at several Egg Pawns, Shadow replied, "You should've known better to know that Omega enjoys himself the most when it comes to ops like this."
"So your saying that we should just keep fighting until he gets back!?" replied an angry female human GUN soldier with a Texan accent, "In case your forgetting something, Agent Shadow, we're getting torn to pieces here!"
"Hold fast, brothers and sisters!" boomed the voice of a rather large African male mobian elephant, who charged towards the barricade, stopped, lifted his gatling gun and unleashed a hailstorm of bullets on the approaching Egg Pawns and Gun Flappers!
"I've just received word from headquarters that Gun Trooper reinforcements will arrive soon!" he cried to his fellow soldiers as he continued to fire, "Hold fast, and aid will come!"
"But how long will that be!?" cried a frustrated Texan male mobian rattlesnake, "Two minutes, three minutes, four minutes, seven minutes!? In case yer forgettin' somethin', this is a war of attrition! We're losin' more bot's every several seconds! It's just like mah sister said, we're gettin' torn ta pieces here!"
THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD!
Came the slow and powerful footsteps of something large approaching, causing the army of Egg Pawns and Gun Flappers to move aside.
No more shots were fired, only the sound of thunderous footsteps was heard…
"I have a bad feeling about this…" a British male human GUN soldier remarked, breaking the silence
Shadow picked up a pair of binoculars and said while passing it to the person to his left, "Alisa, what can you see?"
A female Russian mobian bear, Alisa by name, took the binoculars, looked through them and replied grimly, "Trouble, comrade. I see several Egg Hammers up ahead, and something's leading them…"
Rouge took the binoculars from her and readjusted them to see further.
What she saw made her heart sink and turning her face even more pale than her white fur…
The Egg Hammers were led by a Heavy-Egg Hammer…
"You've gotta be kidding me…" murmured Rouge fearfully, "They were a pain to deal with the last time!"
"We could really use Omega right about now…" a female Ukrainian human GUN soldier whimpered…
"Yeah, and probably those Gun Troopers as well…" a Canadian female mobian moose murmured…
"Forget those!" replied a male Australian mobian dingo rather hotly, "What we need now is a bloomin' miracle!"
Not so much as a second after that was said…
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!
Ten shots from the sky hit the Heavy-Egg Hammer right in the face, causing its helmet to fly off its head and staggered backwards!
Everyone looked up to see the Tornado 3 transform into its alternate form, the Cyclone with Tails at the helm with Sonic jumping of it seconds later.
"Alright, Sonic and Tails are here!" one of the GUN soldiers cheered, with the rest cheering after him.
Sonic turned to them and replied, "You guys can relax now, cause the cavalry's here!"
Shadow, however, was not in the mood for this.
He stormed over to him, grabbed the blue hedgehog and growled, "What the devil do think you're doing?! Why didn't you inform us that Eggman was planning an attack on Westopolis!?"
"What are you talking about!?" Sonic retaliated, pushing Shadow from him, "Tails' been trying to contact you guys for months! As well as today after I told him! You never answered!"
This statement caused confusion and muttering amongst the soldiers who overheard this exchange.
"Boys, now's not the time to butt heads! We've got a job to do!" Rouge argued, placing herself between them.
"That's right!" Tails replied, turning the Cyclone to the face the army ahead of him, "We need to take care of this first!"
Sonic soon got into position, while Shadow did the same, but the angry scowl showed that he wasn't going to let this slide.
Rouge turned around to at the GUN soldiers and robots, declaring, "Ok guys, follow me!"
The soldiers cheered as they surged forward with the robots in tow while the four mobian heroes charged to face the army that had resume marching towards them!
The Egg Pawns and Gun Flappers were easily dispatched.
While things were a bit dicey, they managed to defeat the Egg Hammers as well the Heavy-Egg Hammer.
Everyone cheered in celebration of their victory over Robotnik's army.
Shadow did not, as he was determined to get answers out of the blue hedgehog and was about to march over there when he heard the sound of transport planes flying over.
Four transport planes landed, each one unloading their cargo of forty Gun Troopers, along with several medics with Heal Cannons.
"It seems the reinforcements have arrived, comrade Rouge." Alisa remarked.
"Yeah," Rouge replied, "but these guys are a bit late to the party."
"Oh, I don't know, my dear Rouge! I'd say they were just in time!" an all too familiar voice boomed across the battlefield.
Everyone turned to see Dr Ivo Robotnik, aka Dr Eggman, Sonic's sworn nemesis, hovering down in the same Egg Mobile he used in the Chaos Warp Incident with more Egg Pawns moving from behind on the ground while more Gun Flappers descending to where their master was.
"Eggman!" Sonic growled as he, Tails, Shadow and Rouge took combat positions.
"Hello Sonic, it's been a while!" said Robotnik in a condescending tone.
"What are you doing here, Eggman?" demanded Sonic, "What's so important that you're trying to take over a ghost town?"
"I thought the answer would be obvious, hedgehog." Robotnik replied, "Westopolis is the capital of North Carolina, one of most important states in the country in terms of military importance, and once I have it under my thumb, I'll have more than enough weaponry to conquer each state until the country is mine and from there, the world!"
"I had a feeling that you were planning something on those lines…" Tails said, keeping his eyes on him.
"Plus, it's also the location of where one of the Chaos Emeralds are this time around…" added Robotnik with a devious smile on his face…
"I thought so!" Sonic exclaimed.
"Hey, you can't do that dude!" cried an angry male mobian turtle, shaking his left arm while holding his machine gun, "I was born here! My family had to evacuate Westopolis when it was invaded by those Black Arms creeps! Plus, the President totally said he'd begin making plans to fix the city, like, yesterday!"
"He's right!" replied the female Ukrainian GUN soldier, "My girlfriend Alisa and I were planning on adopting children here once the city is restored! In fact, some of us here were born at Westopolis or moved to live in Westopolis, like Alisa and me!"
Many cheers came from the various GUN soldiers upon hearing this.
"Alina is right!" declared Alisa, "You will not take this city from us! We will drive you out of the city, here and now!"
All of the GUN soldiers cheered at this rousing speech.
"Looks like she's quite the motivational speaker!" said Sonic, poking his right thumb at the Russian mobian bear, "Maybe she should be a commander!"
Rouge was about to reply to that suggestion when Robotnik rudely interrupted, "You won't be sassy for long, you ignorant, greedy honey guzzler!"
"Dude, that's stereo typing!" cried the mobian turtle indignantly.
Robotnik ignored this and snapped his fingers while declaring, "Get a load of this!"
A being dropped to the ground from the sky at an incredible speed, landing in front of the Mad Scientist, creating a smokescreen of dust, forcing the four heroes to cover their eyes!
Sonic and the others opened their eyes to see the dust clear, only to see the being that was standing before was-
"A GIZOID!"
Sonic and Tails cried at the same time as they saw the mechanical being that was standing before them.
In terms of design, it looked like the standard Gizoid soldier that was used under the rule of Pir'oth IX, the previous leader of the Nocturnus Clan, however its colour scheme was very different: Where most of its body should be mustard yellow was now red, where some of the parts that were coloured orange was now black, while the mouth plate was still beige, its eyes were now a sickly yellow.
On its chest, it had the Eggman Empire decal on it with its colour being white.
"Well deduced!" cackled Robotnik, a malicious grin forming on his face, "I thought you'd recognized the design!"
Turning to look at Sonic, Tails said, "It looks like you were right, it is a Gizoid that's accompanying Eggman…"
"Yeah, I could vaguely make out the shape of a Gizoid standing next to him earlier, but I couldn't tell for sure…" Sonic replied, glaring at the metallic soldier standing before him…
Shadow angrily marched up to Sonic, pulled him close by grabbing his chest and snarled, "What in the world is going on here, faker!? Why were we not informed of this!? I want answers and I want them now!"
"I already told you," Sonic countered, pushing himself from Shadow, "Tails' been trying to contact you and Rouge for months now as well as today! You never answered!"
Shadow growled, furious at not receiving a direct answer and was about to press harder for more info when Rouge smacked the Mobian hedgehog/Black Arms hybrid at the back of the head and said angrily, "Shadow, can you and Sonic put a lid on this for now!?"
She then pointed towards Robotnik and said, "We've got to deal with him and his tinker toy first!"
"Yeah!" one of the human GUN soldiers replied, "It's just one robot, we can take care of this glorified tin can!"
"Ja!" replied a German male mobian rottweiler, "We have nothing to fear! Ready, men! CHARGE!"
The GUN soldiers charged forward with the Gun Hawks, Gun Wings, Laser Hawks, Shield Hunters, Gun Hunters, Laser Hunters and Gun Troopers following behind them!
Rouge tried to order them to stop, but her voice was lost in the din of the cries of human and mobian soldiers that rushed forward.
Robotnik, unfazed, merely snapped his fingers and the Gizoid flew towards its incoming enemies.
The whole thing was a one-sided whitewash…
For every human and mobian that was merely tossed back to the barricade where they were earlier, most of the GUN robots were either destroyed or rendered non-functional…
The remaining robots that were still functioning fled back to where the soldiers were, who were trying to get back up, painfully, might I add, while the Doctor's newest minion merely returned to where it stood before.
"Ouch, they're gonna feel that in the morning…" said Sonic, winching at the sight of the GUN soldier's sorry state…
"Ho,ho-ho-ho-ho-ho!" came the booming laughter of Robotnik, causing the blue hedgehog to turn to lock eyes on him.
"And that's just the power of one Gizoid!" Robotnik declared with an evil grin, "I have many, many, many more…"
Sonic and Tails looked at each other worryingly.
Their worst fears have been realised…
Robotnik has made his Gizoid army…
"What do you think of my new Gizoid? Pretty impressive, wouldn't you say?" asked Robotnik, relishing the looks of fear on both the blue hedgehog and the two tailed fox's faces.
Before Shadow could make any demands for a direct answer, a male robotic voice cried out, "I dunno, Eggman. He looks pretty unimpressive if you ask me. He looks like a standard issue Gizoid with a paint job that sucks, really, really sucks!"
Everyone looked up to see a black and yellowed robotic figure standing on top of one of the GUN transport ships.
"Gemerl!" cried Sonic and Tails at the same time, happy to see their old friend had arrived just in time!
"Gemerl!? Your still alive!?" yelled Robotnik, not believing what he was seeing, "How dare you defy your creator and master for a second time, you treasonous, worthless, insolent bucket of bolts!"
"First things first, I ain't your lapdog anymore, Egghead!" Gemerl replied, "Second, I'm not only here to back my friends and GUN up, I'm also here for payback, payback for messing with my old memories the first time when you made me!"
"'Old memories?' What on Earth are you blabbering on about you- "Robotnik began before he stopped himself and started thinking.
Realization was soon showed vividly on his face on what the Gizoid meant as he soon angerly snarled, "Emerl!"
Gemerl replied "Just to clarify two things; one, I go by Gemerl nowadays and two, you don't get to call me by that name; only Cream gets away with calling me by my old name!"
"THAT'S EMERL!? MY SWEET, CUTE AND ADORABLE EMERL!?"
Shrieked Rouge, losing all of her usually confident composure, flabbergasted at the radically redesigned being that was her jewel stealing protégé.
"WHAT THE!?"
Shadow screamed, equally losing his usually confident attitude, scandalized at the sight of the absolute change of appearance of the last piece of his creator, Professor Gerald Robotnik's legacy.
Gemerl hopped off the ship and activated his jetpack and hovered in front of it, taking in the Mad Scientist's reaction, and gleefully so.
"How is this possible!?" roared Robotnik, pointing a left finger at the noble Gizoid, "I erased all of your data thoroughly! You shouldn't remember anything at all!"
"From what Tails told me," Gemerl replied confidently, "you did a lousy job at it! Plus, it pays to have a backup memory chip to have on standby, doesn't it?"
"WHAT!?"
Robotnik bellowed, utterly outraged at this point.
Sonic and Tails laughed at the Evil Doctor's misfortune.
Pushed beyond his emotional restraint, Robotnik screamed,
"ALL EGG PAWNS AND GUN FLAPPERS, GUN HIM DOWN! I WANT THAT WORTHLESS TIN CAN REDUCED TO SCRAP METAL! OPEN FIIIIRRRRREEEEE!"
All the Egg Pawns and Gun Flappers turned their weapons and fired an endless stream of lasers and bullets for several minutes before stopping.
The smoke cleared to see that Gemerl was unharmed, thanks to his composite metal armour!
"WHAT!? HOW!?"
Robotnik screeched, unable to comprehend what had just happened!
"Are you guys quite finished?" asked Gemerl rhetorically, already knowing the answer, "Good, cause now it's my turn!"
Gemerl immediately flew towards Robotnik's army, the not so good doctor moving his Egg Mobile away from the battlefield, his Gizoid following behind him.
Activating Tails' Energy Ball Cannon, Gemerl started blasting the closest Egg Pawns and Gun Flappers to smithereens!
Concentrating on the robots at the back, he fired his missiles at them, turning them to scrap metal!
As he landed to take on the remaining Egg Pawns and Gun Flappers in the middle, the GUN soldiers talked amongst themselves.
"Who is this guy?" asked a Scottish male mobian red squirrel, "Is he some kind of robot?"
"I think he's some kind of Gizoid." remarked the French mobian swan.
"How is that possible?" replied a male North Korean human GUN soldier, "I thought Nocturnia didn't have the resources to build one! The country isn't even finished being built yet!"
"I think Tails built him! He's way smarter than Eggman is!" a female South Korean human GUN soldier remarked.
"Guys, who cares who built him!?" said a Chinese male mobian tiger with a grin on his face, "He's turning Eggman's army into scrap, that's what really matters, right!?"
"Indeed." Alisa replied, who then turned to look at her girlfriend Alina and asked, "What did he say his name was?"
The Ukrainian woman looked at her lover and replied, "He said his name was Gemerl."
A female British mobian dorgi looked at the battle in front of her with a huge grin and cheered, "Yeah, show 'em whose boss, Gemerl!"
"Get 'em, dude!" seconded the mobian turtle.
Soon, all of the GUN soldiers began to chant his name behind the barricade.
"Gemerl! Gemerl! Gemerl! Gemerl! Gemerl! Gemerl! Gemerl! Gemerl! Gemerl! Gemerl!"
While this was going on, Gemerl was punching Egg Pawn after Egg Pawn with Knuckles' Megaton Hook while the holographic Chao of Cream's Chao Tornado devastated any Gun Flappers that dared to come close.
One of the GUN soldiers then cheered, "Way to go! That's awesome, Gemerl!"
Stopping his assault, Gemerl looked behind and said while switching his voice to Shadow's, "Oh trust me, I'm going to do way better than that!"
Gemerl then flew into the air, clenched his right hand into a fist, and felt his fist surge with power; the power of Chaos Control…
Seconds later, he opened his fist to see a purple and white orb floating in his hand.
Pulling his arm back, Gemerl then yelled, while still using Shadow's voice,
"Roaming Chaos!"
Gemerl then threw the orb diagonally towards the remaining enemies which were destroyed in the explosion!
After the explosion disappeared, Tails remarked, "Gemerl seems to be having a little too much fun, right Sonic?"
He turned to see his friend and brother in arms taking pictures on his cell phone of Shadow and Rouge's speechless and dumbfounded expressions that were on both of their faces.
"Really, Sonic?" groaned Tails with a deadpan expression, "I mean, really?"
"What? This is great!" Sonic replied with a smile, "This almost never happens at all! And besides, it'll make for great blackmail material to have against Shadow!"
Tails merely groaned as he facepalmed.
He can be such a child sometimes…
Gemerl landed back down to the ground, looked up to Robotnik and the Gizoid next to him and said in a cocky tone after switching back to his normal voice, "Hey, Eggman! You might wanna skip town and head home, unless you think you can take on me, my friends and the entire GUN army by yourself!"
Robotnik growled, turned to look at his Gizoid and yelled, "Don't just float there! Destroy him, Eta!"
The Gizoid, named Eta, flew towards Gemerl with a Megaton Hook, which its target countered with a Megaton Hook of his own!
Once Eta landed on the ground, both Gizoids flew towards each other and were both in a deadlock, one trying to overpower the other!
After several minutes, the pair pushed each other away, turned their left hands into Energy Ball Cannons and fired at each other, each shot blocking each other!
Gemerl decided to try another approach.
He jumped into the and used Sonic Eagle to attack Eta, but Eta unfortunately grabbed Gemerl's left foot and slammed him to the ground!
Gemerl anticipated this outcome however, and used Sonic Up Draft to strike Eta under its chin, causing it to let go of him and stumble backwards.
Rolling back to his feet, Gemerl remarked, "I gotta say, your pretty good, for a cruddy knockoff! But you still aren't a match for me!"
Eta merely used Stretch Chaos in response and used the move in rapid succession, which Gemerl avoided.
"Oh great, this phoney's got Chaos' abilities too!" he thought to himself, "I need to take this guy out, and fast!"
Gemerl jumped in the air and used Sonic Meteor to attack Eta, only for it to block the attack and sent the noble Gizoid back into the air!
Eta followed its opponent into the sky and tried to hit him with G. Tornado, but Gemerl dodged out of the way and used Rouge's Charlie Kick to hit Eta right in its rear and sent it plummeting back to Earth!
Gemerl pumped his right fist in triumph, touched his left audio receptor and said, "Cream, did you and Vanilla see that?"
"We did, Emerl!" came the voice of Cream for all to hear.
Gemerl laughed and replied, "I told you I'd do it, kid! I told you the first Gizoid wannabe he sent my way I'd kick him in the aft!"
He considered that as a promise kept.
Eta quickly rose back up and fired several Energy Ball blasts at its opponent, only for Gemerl to avoid each one, the blasts flying harmlessly away into the sky…
Gemerl floated back down and remarked, "Ok kiddo, time to wrap this up. But before I do, word to the wise? The next time you try to use an energy projectile attack…"
He then zoomed over to Eta, the false Gizoid using Roaming Chaos in a final desperate attempt to defeat its enemy, only to miss as Gemerl dodged the attack!
Eta then heard the sound of electricity crackling behind it and turned to see Gemerl using a fully charged Electric Stab, one of the moves used by Chaos Gamma, the E-102 lookalike, as he finished, "Put it on an appendage that can aim!"
Without waiting, he plunged the electric dagger right into Eta's chest as it began to spasm from an electric overload!
Seconds later, it exploded, only its head was all that remained.
Gemerl picked up Eta's now non-functioning head with his left hand and said in a satisfied tone, "Yeah, accept no imitations!"
He then said, "And just to be sure…"
Gemerl tossed the head up into the air and with a few slashes with his transformed right hand, he destroyed the head completely!
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Robotnik screamed as Sonic, Tails and the GUN soldiers, except for Shadow and Rouge who were still dumbstruck, cheered at the Gizoid's well-earned victory.
Gemerl looked at Robotnik and jeered, "That was to make sure you don't get any data out of it. And seriously, that's the best you've got? That guy was weak sauce, man, weak sauce!"
Robotnik growled in anger and then snarled, "This is far from over, Emerl! That was just a prelude, the opening act! I have far more where that failure came from! Mark my words, you haven't seen the last of me!"
He then turned his Egg Mobile around and sped off into the distance.
"Oh yeah? If there's more where that guy came from, taking you and your toy soldiers down will be a snap!" Gemerl said confidently before adding, "Oh, and by the way? The names Gemerl!"
A few minutes later, most of the GUN soldiers that were in pain from the thrashing Eta gave them earlier were being seen to by the medics while the more damaged robots were heading into the ships to be sent back to GUN HQ for repairs.
The more able GUN soldiers and less damaged robots moved to secure the area.
Sonic, Tails and Gemerl stood in front of the barricade as they conversed.
"That was awesome, Gemerl!" said Sonic confidently.
"Indeed," Tails seconded, "you tore through Eggman's army like it was nothing!"
"Aw, c'mon you guys, quit making me blush!" replied Gemerl in a tone that sounded like he would be blushing, if he was an organic being.
"That being said, don't you think your being a little too confident about yourself at the moment?" cautioned Tails with a worried look on his face.
Gemerl replied in full seriousness, "I'd be lying if I wasn't. I talk a good game, but since Egghead's gone and made his own Gizoid army, there's gonna be more of em' that are a lot more competent than that guy."
"That means we're gonna have to be more careful this time…" Sonic replied, agreeing with Gemerl.
The conversation was cut short when a voice cried out, "Excuse me!"
They turned to see the female British mobian dorgi from earlier heading their way before coming to a stop.
"And you are?" asked Gemerl politely.
The GUN soldier removed her helmet to reveal her beige fur, brown hair and purple eyes.
Making a salute, she replied in a respectful and formal tone, "Private Bridget, a soldier of this detachment, Golden Fox Company, sir!"
"Hey, you don't need to be formal around us, Bridget! You can relax!" Gemerl replied casually.
"Oh! Ok then!" Bridget replied in a casual tone rather quickly and added, "There's something you guys need to see!"
"What's that, Bridget?" asked Tails, curious as to what she wanted them to see.
Bridget replied, "I found this!"
She pulled something from her left pocket and showed it to the three heroes.
It was an all too familiar red gem.
"That's one of the Chaos Emeralds!" Sonic exclaimed upon see the red gem.
"You bet!" Bridget replied enthusiastically, "I was searching around that area over there!"
She pointed her finger to the north west of where they were, which is where Shadow and Rouge currently are and continued, "As I was looking around, something caught my eye, so I went over to investigate and found it was the Chaos Emerald Eggman was looking for! After thinking about it, I decided to give it to you guys!"
"Shouldn't you hand that over to Shadow and Rouge instead?" asked Tails, concerned that she would get in trouble for hiding something that important.
"Yeah, maybe you should give it to your bosses instead." Gemerl seconded.
"Ah, yeah, I don't think so." Bridget replied, in a rather nonchalant tone, "Considering GUN did a cruddy and lousy job of protecting three Chaos Emeralds at the Security Hall on Prison Island during The Space Colony Ark Conspiracy, I would only trust them as far as I can throw 'em."
The three were quite stunned at the rather brazen and slightly disrespectful demeanour she had towards the organization she works for.
"Which means I know that it will be a lot safer in your hands." Bridget finished while handing the emerald over to Tails, who quickly stashed it away.
"We won't let you down!" said Sonic with a confident smile.
"I know you won't!" replied Bridget with equal confidence, "I mean, c'mon mate, you and your friends have saved the world so many times, it's not even funny!"
"Don't we know it." Gemerl replied who ruffled the dorgi's head and added, "You just be careful, ok?"
"I will!" replied Bridget while giving them a more casually salute.
Gemerl shook her free hand and said, "It was a pleasure to meet you, Bridget!"
"Right back at you, Gemerl!" Bridget replied happily while kissing the Gizoid on the left cheek!
"Now if you'll excuse me, I've gotta get back to work!" she said as lifted her helmet, only to stop, turn to look at Gemerl and said with a playful wink and playful tone, "Ciao!"
And with that, Bridget ran off while placing her helmet back on.
"Looks like you made a new friend, Gemerl!" said Tails, seeing the stunned looked, he was guessing on Gemerl's face.
Gemerl merely placed his left hand on his left cheek, looked at the hand and whispered to himself, "Did, did that girl just- "
The rest of it was cut off when Sonic said cheekily, "And it looks like you've got an admirer too!"
Gemerl registered what was said as he shook his head and said while he turned look at Sonic while fuming, "No, I don't!"
"That's not what it looks like to me!" Sonic replied in a teasing tone.
Gemerl was spared further embarrassment when he saw Rouge and Shadow along with several GUN soldiers, and surprisingly enough, Bridget as well, heading his way from the north west and pulled himself together.
Turning to look at them, he cried, "Hey Rouge, Shadow! How's my main jewel thief and ultimate life form feeling today, huh?"
Shadow frowned, still feeling a bit miffed at how this was brought up now, rather than sooner so they could've prevented this from happening in the first place.
Rouge walked up to Gemerl with a genuinely concerned look and said with uncharacteristic concern, "Emerl, honey, where in the world have you been!? Sonic told us how you blew yourself up to smithereens on the Death Egg back at the Awakening! Seriously, we all thought you were dead!"
"Yeah, you could say I was," Gemerl began and chuckled before adding, "blown away with my ability to survive…"
This made some of the GUN soldiers, including Bridget chuckle until a harsh glare from Shadow made them clean up their act.
"That's not funny and you know it!" replied Rouge in a somewhat angry tone, "You better start talking!"
"Rouge is right." said Shadow, arms crossed, his voice deadly serious, "You have some serious explaining to do, Emerl…"
"Believe me Shadow, this one's for the history books…" Gemerl replied.
Thus, he explained everything, the limbo like state that he was in for the years after the Death Egg's destruction, being found by Robotnik and his Egg Pawns, his reconstruction at his current self, the Chaos Warp Incident, being found by Cream and Vanilla, him being rebuilt by Tails, the back up memory chip and the repeated attempts by Tails to contact them but to no avail, with Sonic and Tails chipping in every now and then to clarify a few things.
Everyone, except Sonic, Tails and Gemerl were stunned at they had heard.
Bridget gasped a horrified, "Oh my God…"
Shadow's eyes were widened with rage as he whispered, seething with quiet fury, "Utter scum!"
"Yeah, that's what everyone else thought, but Cream was the most vocal and distraught about it." Gemerl replied.
Rouge on the other hand…
"HOW DARE HE!?" Rouge bellowed, her voice full of absolute wrath and laced with pure venom, causing everyone to look at her with shock and fear, "HOW DARE HE DO THAT TO MY SWEET, CUTE AND ADORABLE PROTÉGÉ!? OOOOOH, WHEN I CLAP MY EYES ON THAT CREEP AGAIN, I'M GONNA KICK HIS HARD BOILED BEHIND SO HARD, I'LL SEND HIM STRAIGHT PAST SPACE COLONY ARK!"
"Ok, that was the most threatening vocal response I've heard, but Cream's reaction got yours beat." Gemerl also replied.
After getting her breath back, Rouge then asked, "And you're saying that there may be some treasonous elements within GUN?"
"We believe so yes, but we have no way to prove it. Without it, it's just a baseless accusation." Tails replied.
Shadow pondered for a moment.
"Even after all this time, there are still others who resent me, Rouge, Omega as well Sonic and his friends for what we all did?"
It would seem the desire for revenge and the fires of hatred would not be quenched so easily…
Shadow looked at Gemerl and said, "We'll pass all of the information on to Commander Tower and make an immediate investigation on who- "
BOOM!
The conversation was suddenly and violent interrupted when Gemerl was blasted in the face by a missile that was fired by an unknown assailant!
"HEY, WHO THE HECK DID THAT!?"
Rouge yelled as she flew up into the air, trying to spot the perpetrator who had attacked her ally.
Everyone, including Gemerl, tried to find out where the culprit responsible for the uncalled-for attack was.
"Over there!" cried the North Korean GUN soldier, pointing in the direction from where he was.
Everyone turned and were shocked by what they saw!
The unknown assailant was none other than the powerhouse member of Team Dark and the final creation of Robotnik's E-100 series robots; E-123 Omega!
"FOOLISH, WEAK AND INFERIOR EGGMAN ROBOT! PREPARE TO BE COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY DESTROYED, FOR I AM E-123 OMEGA, THE MOST POWERFUL ROBOT THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN!"

A/N
To be honest with you all, I generally have a hard time trying to decide which attacks that Gemerl uses since he has a backup chip that includes all of the attacks that Emerl had up to the final point of Sonic Battle, meaning I generally have to look and decide which attack he uses for the situation at hand.
For Gemerl's theme, I chose Jaw-Breaking News! from TMNT: Shredder's Revenge as it is jaw-breaking news to Shadow and Rouge that Emerl, a.k.a Gemerl, is still alive, in a way.
Plus, I personally feel that the song has a Sonic feel to it.
I apologise if you feel the battle between Gemerl and Eta to be a bit underwhelming, but that was to show that Eta is one of the more incompetent of Robotnik's Gizoids.
If some of you are wondering why the mobian rattlesnake called the female Texan human GUN soldier as his sister, have a look at the author's note of one of my other stories, 'Luck o' the Irish' that explains why that is so.
The song that Gemerl was singing to was the part of Rise of the Icon by Tee Lopes, around the 1:06 minute mark if look up the song on YouTube.
The tune that was heard by Cream and Vanilla when Tails called Gemerl is Flying Battery Zone Act 2 from Sonic Mania, but at a lower pitch by Williord on YouTube.
