Avenging Justice:
Two Worlds Collide
Part XXXI
Earth, Bolivia, Huanuni
"This is Cat Grant reporting from New York City," a well-dressed, and put together blonde woman said into the camera, playing on the television in the bunker. "Today it joins other cities like Metropolis and Coast City, where alien invaders brought destruction from the heavens. Superman and a group of heroes appeared, and beat back these invaders. He was joined by a girl, dressed similar to him, who is being called Supergirl. Other heroes, such as Captain America, Tony Stark's Iron Man, and the monstrous Hulk showed up fighting the invaders as well.
Preliminary reports do put the damage in the billions, and is the worst disaster to befall New York City ever. Already we have tycoons of industry pledging support. Tony Stark's has pledged support through his company, Stark Industries. He is joined by LexCorp and Wayne Enterprises, who already have trucks and response teams on the way.
Meanwhile the human cost is going to be massive, even with the light casualties suffered. Those made homeless by this event are going to radically change New York from this point forward. The world watches, may we all be up to the task at hand."
"Shut that off," Magneto said. "The invasion will keep them off balance for a while. We will use that to prepare."
Demona did as he instructed, and walked over to the table he was looking at. Spread across were dozens of pictures and maps. Their next targets she knew, and some of them would cause chaos when they did. The world would pay for making monsters out of them, not that she ever asked to be born one.
A knock came from the door to the bunker. They were expecting people back, so there wasn't any issue with that. Toad opened the door, expecting another member of the Brotherhood. What he wasn't expecting was the repulsor blast to the chest. He flew across the room, unconscious before he landed. Demona turned, and just in time to see a red and blue blur crash through the ceiling.
From the door cam the forms of Iron Man and Captain America. The latter tossed his shield and it pinballed off one mutant and slammed into another, before returning to his hand. Through the hole Superman made, Thor came in for a landing. As he did, he slammed his hammer into another mutant and let out a stream of lightning.
An arrow landed next to another group, readying to attack. Before they could react, gas began to pour out, and they all began to gasp and cough. Which left a lithe form enough time to get in and take out three. Another set found themselves fighting with Wonder Woman, with some deciding discretion was the better part of valor. Unfortunately for them, a scarlet blur stopped them.
Magneto pulled with his gift, and Iron Man budged, but just barely. He replied back with a repulsor blast. It dematerialized around Magneto's shield. Then Superman was on the Mutant terrorist. Before he could even use his powers, Magneto felt something pierce the back of his neck. Suddenly everything became heavier and he felt sluggish.
He fell forward, into the waiting hands of Superman. On his neck was a tiny black, bat shaped plastic dart. His last sight was of his Brotherhood being brought low. He didn't see Demona teleport out, along with Juggernaut. When he woke again, he was in a plastic prison.

"Director Fury, where are the Avengers now?" faceless darkened shapes of the council asked.
Nick Fury smiled, "I am currently not tracking their whereabouts. I believe they've earned a rest."
"Where you able to recruit Superman or Wonder Woman to your initiative?" the council didn't look pleased at Fury's response.
"Currently, they have agreed to work with us, but are not part of the team," Fury explained. "The Batman of Gotham left a simple message, that he'd be in touch."
"Do we need to worry, are they a threat?" the council asked.
Fury shook his head, "They are not an immediate threat, and our attention would be better directed elsewhere. We have reports of a new player in the Middle East, from the nation of Kahndaq."
Earth, Washington, D.C.
Clark Kent was covering the response to the attack of New York in Congress. New bills had been introduced, including an unpopular Superhero Registration Act. He noticed though, that it wasn't as unpopular, as when it had been first brought up several months ago. He wondered if this was going to cause problems. What would they do if heroes refused to register, would people be jailed just for doing what was right?
His attention fell back to the text message on his phone. It directed him to an abandoned building, that used to be an event hall. Signs plastered all around advised of a joint venture between Wayne Enterprises and Queen Industries. Clark smiled, knowing the two men normally didn't get along the best, but they seem to have come to an understanding on this at least. Which begged the questions, why was he here?
Diana came up next to him, and now Clark was really curious. The hazards of being a reporter, so many questions, and always seeking out the answer. Though, he didn't have long to wait for his current set of answers. A limo pulled up and a very well-dressed Bruce Wayne exited. He beckoned for them to follow as he ducked under the construction tape.
"Mr. Kent, Ms. Prince," he said in his best rich guy voice. "I thank you for coming out on such short notice. As you know with the recent events, Oliver and I agreed that our heroes need a place to meet." As they entered the building, a hum started and a light came on. With that, Bruce's persona fell away. "The news is reporting on the formation of the Avengers, and S.H.I.E.L.D. is using them as their response team. I know they asked you both, but you turned them down."
"I believe you did the same," Diana said. "So why bring us out here?"
"I don't trust S.H.I.E.L.D.," he said. "They are run by a governing body of shadowy individuals. Their goals may not always align with ours?"
Clark laughed, and Bruce turned, fully aware of what he had just said. He operated outside the law, used the shadows to strike fear into criminals. However, he held no notions for ultimate power, or to use his power beyond what was needed for his quest. More importantly, he prepared, for all eventualities. Which is why this next part was very important.
He explained, "Just in case the team is misused, we need a team of our own. A group of people that can counterbalance these Avengers. That is why I called you here."
"What, you're wanting to create a league of heroes to battle the Avengers if they go rogue?" Clark asked, not really surprised his friend would take such steps.
"Yes," came the response.
Diana thought for a moment and then replied, "Tell us the plan."
Outside the world went on, while a new group formed beneath the clouds. Miles away, in the center of heartland of America, buried deep underground, something awoke. A green clad fist slammed into the metal wall above it. The resounding reverberation shook the ground nearby. The residents barely registered the quaking, and definitely didn't hear the snarling coming from the figure. None knew that below them, Doomsday was on its way.
Fear not reader, the adventures of this world will continue on, and there are many more to be had. I hoped you enjoyed the story so far and look forward to what is to come.
