Summer Gift of quartz
It was a hot and lazy summer day, Harvey almost didn't want to leave his sunlit study but he knew that getting outside is an important balance for the mental health. So he made his usual saturday trip down to the museum. Like so many things the new farmer touched this place had been flourishing with the new collection coming in from her. He had cooed over some of the minerals she had found in the mines.
He couldn't help but peek into the newly expanded wing of the museum Gunther had reopened, he strode around the half empty desks spying a few new additions since last week.
"You want an up-close look doc?" A teasing voice called out across the room. Leaning in the door frame coolly the farmer stood, eyeing Harvey with a smile. His cheeks flushed.
"You are always welcome to make an appointment at the clinic for a physical checkup." He coughed, his face read and embarrassed. The farmer gasped in shock.
"Not me Harvey, I meant the gems!" Now she was flushing to and she held up her hands to show 3 sparkling gems the had been coming to add to the collection. Harvey felt like the wanted the ground to open up and swallow him.
"Oh, Gems right, err, I do find them fascinating." He tripped over his words, flustered. This seemed to amuse her, and she wandered up closer to him, pulling from her bag a few artifacts and setting them gently in the display stands checking any against the engraved metal labels for what each display was expecting. To his surprise she turned to him and offered him a glittery silver rock.
"Here you go Doc, looks like I already turned in some Quartz to Gunther so you keep this if you like." He felt a warm glow, different to the warmth of his blushing cheeks.
"Oh, that's such a nice gift, thank you." He held it up to the light, turning it gently to see the many reflected pictures in the facets of the gem. "I haven't had the chance to see these up close." He gave a cheekily glace over the farmer "Usually I see them in passing when Marlon raids some out of your bag when he drops you off at the clinic." The farmer turned with an exclamation.
"Maron has been taking the things I lose? I should have known!" Harvey could help but crack up with laugher at the sight of her pouted lip and indignation. When he got home, he put the quartz up on his shelf, he had to shift a few model planes to the side to make room but liked how it looked, pride of place on his shelf.
