A.N. — It feels fitting to close out Census with one last "character" who's not in the site's tags. This being has been portrayed as sentient in many a fic, something I'm fully onboard with. Now, on with the final act, plus a postscript to wrap things up.

366. Hogwarts

All were welcome within her walls: human or creature, magical and muggle alike. But the Lady Hogwarts was no longer her own gatekeeper.

She loved her creators, but Hogwarts was cross with the restrictive wards they'd weaved around her. She was meant to be a bastion of learning for all, a safe haven for those in need, a refuge to the maligned. Now, her population was dwindling and divided. The lessons taught in her classrooms were diluted, the bustle of activity in her corridors lessened.

But Hogwarts would stand through it all. One day, hopefully soon, all would be well.

Final author's note: It's done, even though there's characters I wish I'd included or regret adding. Please tell me if you notice any omissions, egregious or otherwise. This story will have a spin-off forthcoming, with more robust drabbles about those cut ideas from Census. I think there's enough characters (named and unnamed) remaining I could do another whole year. But I won't.

I'd love to see another author tackle this challenge of 365 (or 366) different Harry Potter characters over a calendar year. Whether 100 words apiece or not, or choosing different characters or ordering, I'm interested.

I've mostly neglected my poetry in favor of Census; I'll probably get back to that rather than fanfiction in the immediate future. Head over to allpoetry•com and look up Stonecreek. That's not to say I won't write more fanfic (I have plenty of discarded/unfinished ideas), but my daily posting is at an end.
