Kira Bridger, Ben Solo, Finn, and Jyn Erso have been sent to two different points in the past, so that they may learn what they need to learn to defeat the seemingly all-powerful Darth Umbra, once and for all. Now, we find out where Finn and Jyn have been sent…

On an unknown planet, the lush, hilly landscape extends in all directions. The only structure in sight is a small farm. Near the farm, there are two large hills. It is near the smaller hill where a bright, white portal appears. Emerging from the portal are Finn and Jyn Erso, who are thrown with great force. Their impact with the ground seemingly knocks the wind out of them. Finn slowly gets to his feet, then helps Jyn up.

"Hell of a landing." Finn says.

"Yeah, tell me about it. Going through those portals can be a little rough. Now, to figure out where we are." Jyn says. Finn starts walking toward the end of the hill. Eventually, he stops, and seems to take in the view.

"Looks like… some kind of farm." Finn says.

"A farm?" Jyn asks.

"Yeah. Come up here and look over this hill. You'll get a pretty good view of it." Finn says.

"I don't think we have time for sightseeing. We need to find this guide, whoever they are, and then we can…" Jyn says. She stops speaking once she gets to the edge of the hill, and gets a good look at the farm in the distance. She soon spots a black, triangular craft approaching.

No… It can't be! I'm here! I'm… home! Of all the places we end up, why did it have to be… today? Jyn thinks.

"You okay?" Finn asks.

"Get down! Now!" Jyn says. She drops to the ground, and Finn does the same.

"That ship! That's Imperial, isn't it?" Finn asks.

"It's not just Imperial! It's an Imperial command shuttle! A special class, issued to Director Orson Krennic." Jyn answers.

"How do you…" Finn says.

"I know, because… I've been here before. This place…. This moment. This… is my home. This… is the day the Empire took my father away. This…. Is the day…. My mother died." Jyn says.

"Damn." Finn says.

"Yeah. Damn." Jyn says.

"Why are we here?" Finn asks.

"Maybe I'm supposed to stop it!" Jyn answers.

"Remember what the force ghosts said? About… not interfering?" Finn asks.

"I know. They said events must play out as history records them. That means… I'm supposed to let Krennic kill my mother. To hell with that. I have the force, and I have lightsabers. I intend to use them." Jyn says. She slowly gets to her feet, and looks toward the landing shuttle.

Suddenly, the ghost of Ahsoka Tano appears in front of Finn and Jyn.

"No, Jyn! You can't! If you try to intervene, you will be sent back to the World Between Worlds, and you will fail your mission!" Ahsoka says.

"I can't just let him kill her!" Jyn says.

"You have no choice, Jyn. I'm sorry." Ahsoka says.

"Do you realize what you're asking me to do?" Jyn asks.

"I do. I know it hurts, but… you must allow things to happen as you remember them. Now, I suggest you hide yourselves until after the Imperials leave." Ahsoka says.

"Why are we here? Why now?" Jyn asks.

"You'll find out. Not all things are as they appear. Have faith. Remember all that you have learned. Trust… in the force." Ahsoka says. She vanishes a few seconds later, leaving Finn and Jyn alone once more.

Trust in the force? Since I reconnected to it, all I've done is trust in the force. And… it's led me to this moment. Why here? Why now? There has to be a reason! Alright, Ahsoka. I'll try it your way. Jyn thinks.

"Alright, then. I guess… we hide." Jyn says.

"It sucks you've got to go through this again, but… we've got to be here for a reason, right?" Finn asks.

"I sure as hell hope so." Jyn says.

Jyn and Finn hide themselves. They remain out of sight as Lyra Erso is gunned down and Galen Erso is taken aboard the Imperial shuttle. Several minutes pass as Krennic's troops search the farm. Eventually, the shuttle departs. Jyn and Finn emerge from their hiding place, and make their way to the Erso homestead. They approach the body of Lyra Erso, and Jyn kneels at her mother's side.

Wait a minute! Remember all I have learned! That's it! Maybe I can… bring her back! Jyn thinks.

"I think I might be able to revive her." Jyn says.

"Revive her? You can do that?" Finn asks.

"Ezra gave me rather extensive lessons on force healing. In fact, he was pretty insistent on it." Jyn says.

"You can't… actually bring her back, can you? I thought that was an Ahsoka thing." Finn says.

"I can sure as hell try." Jyn says.

"Isn't that one of those forbidden powers that… make you old?" Finn asks.

"I don't care if it kills me. If I can bring my mother back, I don't care." Jyn answers. She puts her hands on her mother's body.

What? How can this be? I… feel her! She's not dead! My mother's not dead! Jyn thinks.

"What is it? What's wrong?" Finn asks.

"Nothing's wrong. All this time, I thought she died here. But… she's… alive." Jyn says.

"Alive? How? She's not breathing!" Finn says.

"I think it's a... Jedi healing trance. I remember reading about them. All she needs is a little push from me, then she should be alright." Jyn says.

"I haven't been trained to heal with the force, otherwise I'd help you." Finn says.

"It's alright. I think I can handle this." Jyn says.

Jyn closes her eyes, and concentrates on healing her mother.

"I am one with the force, and the force is with me. I am one with the force, and the force is with me." Jyn says.

"What's that?" Finn asks.

"It's something that my friend Chirrut is fond of saying. It's an old mantra used by the Guardians of the Whills." Jyn answers.

"Does it help?" Finn asks.

"Yes, it does. At least… it helps me. Now, I need to concentrate, so… if you don't mind..." Jyn says.

"Right. Sorry." Finn says.

Jyn returns to her task, while Finn watches in silence. Not long after, Lyra suddenly takes a deep breath, and slowly opens her eyes.

"I helped a little, but your healing trance did most of the work. You're going to be alright." Jyn says. Lyra slowly stands up with Jyn's help.

"Jyn…" Lyra says, as she looks at her daughter's face.

"How…" Jyn says. Lyra gently touches Jyn's face.

"You are my Jyn. I know it. The force never lies." Lyra says. Tears form in Jyn's eyes.

"Mama…" Jyn says. She breaks down sobbing as Lyra embraces her.

"My little Stardust… all grown up." Lyra says.

Reunited mother and daughter stand silently in their embrace for some time. Eventually, they slowly separate. Lyra looks at Finn.

"Who do we have here?" Lyra asks.

"This… is Finn. He's a… friend of mine." Jyn says.

"Also a force user like us. The light is very strong with him." Lyra says.

"I've just started training. I don't really know anything yet." Finn says.

"You can learn, right? Give it time. If you were sent here with Jyn, then there has to be a reason. Trust in the force." Lyra says.

"That's what you always used to tell me. I did, and now… I'm here." Jyn says.

"I know you've come back from some point in the future, and that you are here to learn secrets that will help you defeat a powerful enemy. The force has shown me this much. This is… strange for me. I know that my eight year old Jyn is out there, likely with Saw by now. I want to go to her, but… I know I can't. I don't know everything, and I don't have all of the answers, but I know that I am not supposed to make contact with your younger self again. I'm supposed to be with you." Lyra says.

"As far as my other self knows, you're dead." Jyn says.

"The rest of the galaxy now believes that as well. This… is how it's meant to be." Lyra says.

"I'm not sure I agree with this, but… the force is telling me that this is right." Jyn says.

"I feel my crystal in your saber. You… found someone to continue your training?" Lyra asks.

"I did. It's only been a few months, but I've learned so much." Jyn answers.

"You… are very strong with the force. The strongest I've ever felt. Where you come from… the Jedi have returned?" Lyra asks.

"Sort of. We're not quite the same as the old order. We don't follow the old code, and our leader encourages us to learn all we can about the force. Not just Jedi teachings." Jyn answers.

"Not just Jedi teachings? Are you learning the dark side?" Lyra asks.

"We are not learning how to use dark side powers, but… we are learning about the Sith. We have to understand them so we can beat them." Jyn answers.

"I agree. But… be careful. I don't want to lose you to the Sith." Lyra says.

"You won't. I trust in the force. It's brought me here, and… it gave you back to me. I've been angry for so long. Not anymore." Jyn says.

"I sense the peace in you. You are everything I hoped you would be. I am so proud of you." Lyra says.

"Mama…" Jyn says. Lyra embraces her again.

I got her back! I trusted in the force, and… I got her back! Jyn thinks. After a brief moment, Jyn and Lyra separate.

"I have been… contacted by the spirits of those long passed. They told me… that I would help you…. to another… who will guide you on your quest." Lyra says.

"Another? It's not you?" Jyn asks.

"No. But… I do have some part to play. I know that much." Lyra answers.

"What part is that?" Finn asks. Lyra takes Jyn's hand.

"To fight evil… at my daughter's side." Lyra answers.

Apologies for the delay with this chapter. I had hoped to have it up a couple of weeks ago, but I was sick and couldn't do any writing. Now, I'm recovered. Updates on my stories will be slow for a while as I get back on track. Thanks for reading.
