The Telepathic Kiss
It was normal to have things be a bit mad around Captain Jack Sparrow.
Will had accepted this and learned to always think of logical explanations for the illogical things that happened. There usually was a logical explanation for the illogical if one was willing to look for it. Although of late, Will had liked to accept the illogical because the logical explanation made even less sense. Sadly, he did not think he would like the logical explanation that came with the piece of illogic he had been witness to hours before.
Elizabeth Swann had kissed Captain Jack Sparrow.
Not a chaste, brief kiss on the cheek to show comradeship or gratitude, which Will would have expected, given Jack's decision on the Black Pearl. It had been an open mouthed tangle, a lust inducing, lets-see-how-far we-can-take-this-before-Governor-Swann-begins-to-sweat kiss that was reserved for Will. Will, not Jack. Elizabeth- his Elizabeth- had bestowed that honor (for Will truly saw it as an honor) on Captain Jack Sparrow.
By God, he was going to kill that bastard.
Never mind that Jack had stayed behind and met a fate worse than what Will could bestow. Never mind that Elizabeth looked cold and sad and alone- things Will would much rather die than allow. He wanted vengeance. He wanted a swift fire of retribution. He wanted revenge. He wanted a sword. He wanted justice to be done. He wanted-
He actually wanted Jack to come back, for the love of bloody hell. He wanted that two timing, fiancée-stealing prat to come back, if only so Will could kick his rum loving arse straight back into limbo.
And even that wasn't it- he wanted Jack to come back because he was a friend, albeit an unreliable and half mad one… and there was the added bonus of knowing that Jack could, in his mad, rambling way, explain the kiss away.
In the absence of Jack, Will looked for an illogical explanation to The Kiss, because he was very certain that the logical explanation would do nothing for him. It was very possible that Jack had not instigated the kiss. After all, Will could not imagine any reason why a man would not want to kiss Elizabeth. She was the most incredible woman in the world. Of course, this meant that Will now had to blame Elizabeth and wonder why she had kissed Jack, which led to an obvious explanation that did nothing to fill the hole rapidly growing in the center of his heart.
Elizabeth was beautiful. Beautiful, brave and intelligent- always had been, always would be. Elizabeth was… Elizabeth. Spontaneous. Loyal. Very loyal. You never hurt the people she loved.
Never?
Will looked at her, sitting with a mug in her hands, eyes downcast, clothes torn and dirty. She looked up for a moment, and he saw everything- guilt, sadness, fear… anger. A deep, spark of anger directed at herself, for a reason very illogical and very possible, and Will began to wonder why Jack had behaved in such a way… in such a… well… such an Elizabeth-esque way in his final moments.
Will sighed. Sure he would go after Jack. The Captain might be near off the hook, but he was still going to hit the bastard. After all, a kiss was a kiss.
Elizabeth's eyes met his. Will couldn't say he was happy, he couldn't say it wasn't still upsetting. But he trusted her. He loved her.
And that was enough.
