Annie's POV
The next time I woke up was in a hospital. I was confused and saw 2 people next to me. One was a nurse and another was a woman. She looked like a teenager. when she reached for me i blocked her with my arm. I looked at it in shock. It had no burns or scars but I was all grown up. I looked as if I was 14 years old.
I immediately unraveled. "Why am I here? Am I dead?!", I screamed. The doctor walked in at that time.
"no miss valentine, you're alive and well." The doctor reassured me. "Then why am I here?!" I yelled. the woman in red spoke up and said, "You were in a coma for 7 years and you aged in the process but you look younger." I lost 7 years of my life because of my father, brother and community. Now they think I'm dead. If they think I'm gonna come back, they're wrong. I know the woman saved me so I asked to speak to her alone.
"Thank you for saving me.", I say under my breath.
"No problem, but do you remember anything?"
"All I remember is being in a ring of fire. I was scared, crying and very hot. My brother and father had chosen to save my sister. I'm not mad at her but my dad and father are dead to me. I wanna find my mom and live with her or live with you since I have nowhere to go. Can you teach me how to save someone so I can repay the favor?"I was crying and smiling. I had never smiled. She has a kind face.
Carmen's POV
She tries to smile but she needs learning. I forgot to introduce myself. "Let me start all over. My name is Carmen Sandiego. I saw a fire and I heard your cries.I ran and it brought a flashback. I was in the same situation as a baby and my teacher saved me. I saved it yet. please may I be your teacher? I will show you writing the world's wrongs and be a superthief. What do you say?"
She's silent for a bit but nods with another attempted smile. She says,"my name is Annie Valentine and i want to write the world's wrongs."
Later, she is discharged and we head to the campus. She is too excited on the way, we stopped by paris and got some new clothes. "Welcome to the academy, a.k.a your new home." she was amazed and i got her all settled in. i gave her a schedule and she met her team and roommates. They are : alex, cam, james, kyoka, sarah and xander. I hope they get along well.
