"They went that way!"

"Get them!"

"Don't let them get away! They must be captured!"

Why… Why is this happening…? I didn't do anything wrong….

"S-Sister! Wh-Why are we running? Sister!"

"Not now, Shirone! Just keep running! Don't look back!"

I didn't want them to hurt you…. I don't want….

"Stop right there, Strays! You two are completely surrounded!"

Before I could even notice, the group of devils that was chasing after us had another group blocking our way in front of us. I didn't even sense any other life forms around us. They must've sent in a group of lower class devils that aren't that strong to block our path…

"Kuroka, did you kill your master?" An old looking man sitting in a very high chair asked me. There were also similar aged men sitting in high chairs, looking down on me and Shirone. Both of us had our hands and feet chained together with cuffs that sealed away any form of demonic magic.

"I did. What of it?" I answered him.

"I'm sure you know what of it! Why did you kill the descendant of the Naberius House?!" When he said that, Shirone looked at me with a surprised look on her face.

"Wait, you killed your master … sister?" She asked me. "Why?"

"... Because I felt like it, meow."

"What?!" The old guy nearly fell out of his chair when he heard what I said. Even Shirone was surprised with my 'answer'. "You killed your master just because you felt like it?!"

"Yup. I'd never see the reason why I should listen to someone who is weaker than me, so I decided to eighty-six him myself. Us cats are very hard to take control over, nya." I explained my reasoning to him. And just by looking at the people around in the building, it seems they believed it. The old man then looked towards my sister standing next to me.

"Then what about her? Does she have anything to do with his death?" He asked.

"She's completely innocent. My sister has nothing to do with the death of my master." I told him.

"Then why did she run with you?" He asked again.

"Isn't that even a question? It's because she's my sister. My family. Something that most of you upper class devils forgot you had." I told them. All of them looked at one another before an older looking guy with blackish hair and purple eyes got up from his seat.

"Bishop from the House of Naberius, you do know the punishment of becoming a stray devil, much less killing your own master?" He asked me.

"Yup, and I know that I will have no regrets," I told him.

"Alright then. We of the Great King Faction have declared you, Kuroka, guilty for killing your master and running away from the scene. What you've done isn't deserving any amount of time locked away, so the only option that is worthy for yourself is death…." the old man said. I was fine with the news myself. Nobody will ever know what that madman was trying to do with my sister. At most, they'll give her jail time or force her to leave the underworld.

"...but as for your sister, although she did nothing with the murder, she still ran away from the scene of the crime. Plus, with how you've become after being turned into a devil, I don't want to risk anymore of our kind dying to any more of your kind, she will also receive the death penalty," he would then say.

"W-What?! The hell you mean she also gets the death penalty?! She didn't do anything!" I yelled. "Only give me the death penalty!"

"I said what needed to be said. Guards, take them awa–"

"Hold it." A new voice would say. Everyone was focusing their attention behind us so we both looked to where everyone else was. What was standing there was a rather tall man wearing a white suit and black tie and a girl wearing a white dress. They both had crimson hair and blue eyes that really made them stand out. The purple eyed man looked at both of them before focusing his attention to the male.

"Sirzech and his little sister. What brings the two of you here?" He asked them.

"Well, after asking my mother to take Ri-Ri with me to work today, I thought I would show her how we deal with stray devils and other of the like. I heard that a trial was going on, so I decided to bring her here," he explained himself. They both walked up to both me and Shirone. "So these are the suspects from the House of Naberius case? I'd thought I would never see an actual nekoshu nekomata. I've only heard that this type of species went extinct. How come they're on trial?"

"Cause the black haired one killed her master. The other one ran along with her. They've been sentenced to death," the old man told him. The red head looked at us with a more intrigued look on his face.

"Really huh? Isn't that a shame then," the crimson haired man said. The girl then walked up towards us also and asked the man next to him.

"Brother, what happens to devils when they get that penalty? Do they stay locked up forever?" She asked him. The crimson man started to sweat a bit while rubbing the back of his head.

"Well, not exactly. When a devil gets sentenced with the death penalty, they usually die…. It's a pretty gruesome punishment to get," he explained to her. The girl then looked at us again with her hand up under her chin, thinking.

"Can we take them in?" She asked him. Everyone looked at the girl with a surprised look on their face. "I mean, if both are going to die anyways, would it make more sense to die for an actual purpose than rather dying without one?"

"What are you saying, Lady Rias?" One of the old guys asked her.

"I'm saying let me take them in. Give them another chance. I feel like I could help these two," she explained herself. "Brother, what do you think?"

"Well… that does sound like a nice thing to do, Rias, but it isn't that simple…"

"But you're the Devil King, right? You should have the last say when it comes to these types of things, right?" She asked him. The crimson haired man begins to scratch the back of his head again before looking up to the old guys.

"Well, you heard her. Is it possible to let these two under our control?" The man asked them. The old men began looking and talking to one another. They then bring one of the guards up towards them and whisper into their ear. After the guard heard what he needed to hear, he then walked up to the both of us, pulled out a key, and undid our cuffs. The purple eyed man then got up off of his chair and walked towards all of us.

"I'm trusting you on this one Sirzechs. Usually I would discard any other type of reasoning and destroy them, but I'll let it slide this time. Just make sure to keep an eye on them at all times. Especially the black haired one in particular," he said while looking towards me. "I don't want the same thing happening to one of your kind."

"I'll take your warning in consideration. Thank you," the crimson man said. The purple eyed man then looked towards the girl.

"I'm also understanding that you are also putting them in your peerage, right ?" He asked her.

"Yes. Will that be a problem?" She replied.

"When Kuroka of the Naberius house was turned into a devil, it cost him two of his [Bishop] pieces. So to make her a part of your peerage, you would have to trade something of equal value. It's one of the many things of being a high-class devil," he explained. "I'm willing to do the trade for the deceased Naberius member, so you have to trade something of equal value."

"Something of equal value…" The girl thought to herself out loud. She then used a magic circle to bring out a small wooden box. Inside were a full set of pieces. From what I could see, only the [Queen] piece was missing. All of them looked normal for the most part, but then she pulled out a red piece. It was the same one as my previous master gave me. "Will this be enough?" She asked him. The man picked up the piece and observed it more closely.

"A mutation piece… for someone soo young to have…." he said to himself. He then puts the piece in his pocket. "It's more than enough." He then turns his attention towards me again. "Kuroka, as of today you are now part of the Gremory Family, serving as Rias's new [Bishop]. And if I hear a word about you doing anything to hurt her or cause harm to her family in any way…" his body begins to engulf itself in a dark purple aura. " I will kill you myself. Do I make myself clear?" He asked me.

"Crystal," I replied.

"Good." He then turns around and begins to walk back to his spot. "I'll make sure that this information doesn't go out and make this a cover up. Those two are all yours, Rias. Use them at your leisure."

"Geez Rias, your peerage is growing faster than I thought. It wasn't so long ago when you made Akeno your [Queen, but now you have a [Bishop] as well." The crimson man said as we made our way out of the building. "I'm also surprised you also managed to persuade them to rethink their actions. They're usually more stubborn than that."

"I know. I'm surprised at myself as well," the girl would say. She then turned around and looked towards us. "Speaking of which, I think some introductions are in order. My name is Rias Gremory. I'm currently next in line to take over my father as the new head of The House of Gremory. And this person standing next to me is my older brother." Rias has her hand open to the man next to her.

"I know who he is. Your Sirzechs Lucifer. One of the Four Devil Kings of the Underworld. Not only that, you also help out driving people of the Old Devil King Faction out of the Underworld as well," I said.

"Wow, someone really knows their stuff," he would say. "But since we're in the same family, you can call me Sirzechs."

"Alright then. But before I say anything about us, answer me this: Why did you help us back there?" I asked them. They looked at each other before Rias decided to speak up.

"We heard what you said during the trial," she said. "I know that there's more to what happened before you got arrested, but even then most stray devils would leave everything behind after killing their master or just destroy it, but you brought your sister instead of leaving her for the guards to catch her." Sirzechs then continues after her.

"Plus, I felt like the Naberius House was producing something that could change the underworld for the worse as well. They tend to keep things to themselves for the most," he explained. "I want to ask you about it since you were a part of his peerage, but if you don't want to talk about it, then it's fine."

"So with that out of the way, mind telling us about the two of you?" Rias asked us again.

"... I'm Kuroka. Previous member of the House of Naberius," I said. "This is my little sister, Shirone. She's the only family member I have after our mother and father passed away."

"Shirone huh?" Rias would walk up to her and crouch down in front of her. "Do you also want to be a member of my peerage? I'll make sure that both you and your older sister are taken care of under me." Shirone would look at Rias before she looked towards me.

"Sister… is it OK?" She asked me.

"Well they did save us from death," I told her. "We do owe them."

"...Alright… I'll be glad to be a part of your peerage…" Shirone said with a smile. Rias giggled slightly and pats her head.

"Then welcome to the Gremory Family Kuroka and Shirone."
