"Steven, tell him not to open the door." Marc ordered.
"Wait! Don't open the door!" Steven warned.
"Do you think it might be Set or Kauket?" Lena asked.
"Who rings a doorbell in Detriot?" Marc replied, half-joking, "The timing's too perfect."
"Marc does."
Ben looked through the peephole on the door "Whoever they are, they're unarmed."
"Marc?"
"I'm here if you need me." The reflection said.
Ben opened the door. Standing in front of him was a woman with long blonde hair and sporting a black lace dress.
"That's Kauket!" Lena screamed with Hathor's voice.
"Anubis, Khonshu, and Hathor! Quite a surprise. I though you perished with your old avatar. Sneaky." The woman spoke with a calm tone.
"Khonshu, I am delighted to see you again. I wish you had not broke from me."
It was Stevens turn to get possessed by his Egyptian God "I had faith in my fellow Gods. You in the Ogdoad ignored humanity. Is this your first ever avatar? You and your friends didn't believe in them."
"This is true. Unlike those Gods who disrupt a human's life for the sake of observation, I chose for the sake of action." Kauket explained, "I understand you feel the same."
"And I bring vengeance to the humans who deserve it." He told her.
Kauket raised her voice, "And I bring vengeance to the Gods who deserve it! They watch over humans yet dictate their lives. What gives them the right? Standing by, watching their pets do unspeakable things. Not getting involved, why? Because humans are inferior? You understand, Khonshu. Gods have powers to help humanity. Not to watch them die."
"If Gods interfere, Kauket, the world would turn to ruin. Especially under Set's rule." Anubis argued.
"Set wouldn't rule. Nobody would. That's the point. Once only good Gods and good humans remain, Earth would be a paradise for everyone. We would protect those who need protecting. Khonshu, you know all too well the Ennead needed to be taken down. I come today unarmed to offer a chance to be a part of a beautiful partnership. One to help humanity see the light through the darkness. And perhaps that light, Khonshu, is moon light."
Khonshu looked into the womans eyes. She was proposing that he keep doing what he's doing. But not alone anymore. And with no repercussions.
Hathor had taken the gun during Kauket's ramblings and had placed a bullet inside. She aimed it at Kaukets head.
"For someone so against avatars, how would you enforce this paradise without a host?"
Not phased by the gun to her face, Kauket answered "You misunderstand. I'm not against avatars. I'm against forcing a human to derail their life for my sake. Our avatars would be volunteers. Not forced or manipulated. But willingly giving their body and life to our cause. The Ogdoad didn't see this necessary. They were not fit to join Set and me. Khonshu, I see the wonder in your eyes. How free would it feel to know your activities won't get you exiled or turned to stone? We are offering peace amongst Gods and humans."
Before Khonshu could say anything, the lovely blonde lady fell to the floor. He almost didn't hear the gunshot. As blood pooled around her head, he turned to Hathor.
"There. Now to find Set."
He grasped the collar of Lenas shirt. "Why? Why shoot her?"
"Because she was getting to you. You believe Set who controls chaos, would want peace with humans? Punish the bad ones? His judgement would be askew."
Khonshu let go of the girl's shirt.
Anubis decided to tell the group of his knowledge "He is a deceiver. I cannot dispute that. But it was his askew morals that granted him the title of God of chaos. Because they were askew to the Gods. He has always wanted Peace on Earth. Being the God of War was his punishment for this. His vision of world peace would upset the balance and that was the true chaos."
"She was telling the truth?" Khonshu curled Marc's hands into a fist.
"Truth or not, it's wrong. We are superior to humans. We only observe to not show how inferior they really are. You were banished for this way of thinking for a reason, Khonshu. It is dangerous." Hathor told him very matter-of-factly.
"I will show you how dangerous it is."
With that, Steven's eyes turned white then back to normal.
"Bloody hell, I've just been through a spanner." Steven complained, clutching his head.
Lena's eyes glowed and she noticed the gun in her hand. "I… I shot her?"
Marc took over and grabbed the gun. He put his hands on her shoulders. "Polly, you didn't shoot anyone, okay? Can you say that? It's not your fault."
"But I—"
He began to sound angry "It's not your fault! Say it!"
"It's… not my fault." She whimpered.
"I'll keep the gun, okay? This won't happen again. I won't let it."
She tugged on his arm "Marc, I think I'd like to go home now."
"I know." He nodded sympathetically. "I don't think Hathor would let us take you home. As soon as I kill Set we'll get you back to Canada, eh? All the maple syrup you can drink. Just remember, Hathor isn't you. She did this. Okay?"
"Okay."
"Ben, we're leaving. We'll bring you the sceptre and the bullets when this is all over." Marc told the old man.
"Okay. But I want to see both of you back here when it's finished. Okay? You get what I'm saying?" Ben said to the merc.
"Yes, sir."
With that, Marc and the still-traumatized Lena exited Anubis' house and began to track down Set.
