The Diego Diaries: Moving On (dd8 31)

Absolutely no editing of this yet because I kept falling asleep writing it. When the dogs have to go outside at 2:30, 4:30 and 5:30 in the morning, you do that. LOL! Hugs!

=0=Earth2

She walked into her office and sat at the big desk as light streamed in from the outside. It was mid afternoon and all was going along well. In a couple of days a number of humans who were leaders in the agricultural field would arrive to spend a week looking at the farms not just of Earth2 but of Earth 1 and Unidad. Negotiations were still ongoing with Ratchet as the go between for a visit to the Hu-An farms. Nothing was set in stone there. It was the middle of a harvest and nothing was put forward when that was happening.

Cynthia Tomas was happy here. She had a friendship with a 'nice man' who was an engineer and worked on futuristic type ideas for life in zero mistake atmospheres. They had mutual interests and were career driven people who were just beginning to see that was maybe not the end all and be all of living.

She was intensely important to Earth2 not just as the Communications and Public Relations officer but as a person who had a lot of friendships in the community, human and bot and was able to fit in with most of the power groups in each of the communities without wearing out her welcome. People liked her. The bots loved her. She was the one that was contacted for this and that and when the in-house bots needed a liaison for something or someone, she was the one who was approached.

Sitting back in her chair, she stared at the wipe board that was on the wall nearby. It listed the entire thing from the moment they arrived until they left. There would be a scheduled visit at Prima Station midweek to see how the project was going there. It was going great as she had heard and would be interesting because it was the newest farm in the system.

The phone rang and she answered it. Listening, she took notes, then hung up. Someone needed advice on something or other in the forestry department. Something about liaising with a forestry group on Earth. She rose, gathered her desk together to neaten things up, then walked out toward the upper deck where the offices and labs were.

She would enjoy the light, the sound of the facility as people went about their business, some of them driving the little cars and trucks which were used here. They would wave and she would wave back. It would be a wonderful and productive afternoon.

They walked in, a number of kids from Earth2's International School. They were high school kids arriving at the facility to have a 'mixer' or party with kids here who were the same age. It was decided that there would be conducive to community cohesion if the kids had a chance to mingle and be together. It hadn't been intended but the kids hung out with those of their own habitats with little cross mingling.

The kids walked in and climbed into a couple of trucks, sitting in the bed of the vehicles filled with anticipation. They would speed away to the school where the festivities were held, then head down to the Recreation Center where they would swim, eat and goof around. A fun time was had by all.

=0=On a street corner in City 6, Crater District 5

A small elderly couple stood on the corner of a busy street watching the cars go by. The street was beautiful in an immaculately kept urban center. It was baffling to see the big trucks in an intersection nearby working to crane a huge green tree-like structure into a big inset hole in the intersection that had been capped earlier. It lowered the massive tree into the hole which then settled with a slight jolt.

The truck moved out of the way to let the crane move onward. The crew who was helping handed the wiring of some kind of device to another. He bent down, affixed wires, then stood up and walked to the sidewalk near them. The others gathered with him as he stared at a device in his servos. After a moment, he held it up toward the tree, then pressed a button.

The tree exploded into light, some of it white and others colored. All of it flickered in the most beautiful way. A silver topper on the tip of the tree was of Cybertron. It glowed with lights like it always did.

Everyone clapped each other on the back, then watched as a truck brought another tree past them heading for the intersection down the way where it would stop. They gathered their stuff, climbed into the cab and bed of their truck, then moved onward. It would continue until three of the largest and most central intersections were graced with the spectacle.

They glanced at each other, then the tree nearby.

"That's very beautiful," one said.

The other nodded. "I don't know what it is but I like it," he said before the two continued onward. They had just arrived from Omega Base and were going about to look at things. It would be a while before they understood Christmas Surprise but when they did they would participate with gusto. That it would eventually mean that the mayor and colonial leader of the whole shebang would on the actual holiday hand them a gift at their senior center would be a marvel.

They continued onward down the street.

=0=At the prison

Ratchet walked down the road that split the place into two factions. On each side were barracks filled with prisoners who were either bored and ignored him or catcalled the slag out of his aft. The first were scanned as much as anyone and the second would receive a cheerful wave from the big medico.

He had just finished visiting the alternative members of their prison population who pumped him for information of home. There was little to tell but Ratchet made a point of expressing the Festival that was just completed by Prime, Prowl and their doppelgangers. Some of them refused to believe that life could go on so well without them and others mentioned nothing. All in all, they were a disgustingly healthy group.

The rest of the prison had the usual cases, a few stabbings and a number of mentally borderline prisoners. They would have to be evaluated by techs who would watch them from afar and let the doctors know if there was enough available to warrant pulling them out to the security wing of the Prison Hospital. A few would be pulled but most put on cameras for security checks in their cell block. Until they presented more than most would show, they would be kept watch over for their safety.

=0=In an apartment in Bern

They gathered there, members of a new gang that was known only by its signal mark, a smear of dark crimson color. They were a criminal gang, one that was made up of bold youngsters who had taken to their ways during the Diaspora. They were past of a migration that had come down the Bootes Chute before it because problematic that direction.

This was a new world for them, this colony and the Empire being back in the Prime's control. They had kept a low profile as they sorted out the way things were done here. It wasn't a small thing, the security here and they were careful. The last thing they wanted to do was let anyone know any more than they already did.

For now, they were keeping company and getting ready to attend some of the Stanix parties, the ones held by the Empress to allow everyone to not only celebrate their lives here but to allow everyone to meet each other. Many bonds came of the big parties thrown by the Empress and they were a huge event on the calendar of those from the Stanix community.

"When will you meet us?" one of the leaders asked of several others who were sorting out snacks for the others.

"I thought we'd go with you," one of them said as he brought a big tray of food into the living room for everyone. He set it down, then himself as everyone began to help themselves. "We better be good when we're there. The Empress will have a lot of security present."

"We will," one of the others said as he took a drink from the other mech who was getting food together.

They wouldn't.

=0=Prowl

He walked out of the courtroom where the hearing had been conducted. It was a procedural hearing over the last few things that had to be cleared up before the Wheelus Faction would be brought to trial. Accompanying Prowl was Prime's legal officer, Delta. As they walked to the elevator, Delta was explaining a few things to Prowl.

"I will take the motions and decisions that were made and write up a report for Lord Optimus. I'll give it to him later this afternoon and answer any questions he had. I think it would be a good move to break the trials into two groups. That way the aggravation will be cut in half."

"Thank you, Delta. Having two trials will be easier for the process but will still depend on the schedule and things happening," Prowl said. He grinned. "I'm going to be highly interested when Crader comes to testify against Karyll Wheelus. I have waited a very, very long time to see these slaggers go down."

Delta grinned as they reached the elevator, then entered. "I hear you, Commander," he said as the door slid closed behind them.

Liaising (lee-A-zing) means to be talk with someone. It could also mean that as a liaison (lee-A-zon) you are the one who goes between groups and talks to both about mutual matters at hand. Referees are liaisons.
