A/N: All Pokemon will have their Gen 7 movesets. If there is an Evolution of A Gen I into A different Gen Pokemon as long as the conditions are met then they will evolve. Ex. Golbat will evolve into Crobat if someone catches one and they show friendship towards its. The Kanto Region I will be using will be the one used in Gen 4's Heartgold & Soulsilver. Ex. The Cinnabar Gym will be located in Seaform Islands after the volcanic eruption. With that being said, Enjoy!
It has been one day into summer vacation for the kids the Cul-De-Sac and the only things on their minds were freedom and adventure. Currently sitting on the curb of A cul-de-sac street trying to think of what to do for the day outside A house was three 12-year-old boys lying on the ground in A circle all sharing the same name. These were the Eds.
Ed wears baggy purple/blue pants, large black shoes, and a red and white striped T-shirt. He also wears a dark olive green jacket with brown lining on the inside and with white sleeve stripes on the outside. He is kind, good-natured, and happy-go-lucky with a positive attitude towards almost everything and everyone he encounters. He is the type of person who sees everybody he meets as a potential friend.
Edd a.k.a Double D wears orange shirt purple shorts, long red thigh-high socks, cyan-colored shoes, and a black ski hat with two white stripes on each side and is a rather scrupulous, but kind and good-intentioned youth. Docile, polite, and disciplined, he willingly adheres to the laws and regulations of his community. With his love and desire for order, he occasionally undertakes the role of a peacemaker.
Eddy wears a yellow polo shirt with a purple collar/sleeve hems and a vertical red stripe on the right side. He also wears light blue pants like most of the other characters, as well as a wallet chain and plain red shoes, and is the self-appointed ambitious leader of the Eds. Eddy is often selfish, and mostly works for his own interests, sometimes even neglecting his friends. Because he is frequently overambitious, deceiving, loud, and power-hungry, his peers often socially reject him.
"Man I'm stumped. We're three days into our summer vacation and we have nothing planned." Eddy groans. The Eds were very much known for pulling "scams" and trying to swindle their neighbors out of money for Jawbreakers However majority of the time fate would not shine on the Eds and they would lose the money they got.
"Well, Eddy why don't you look on the bright side, maybe we can reflect on everything we learned this school year to-" Double D tries to cheer his friends up however with the mention of school Eddy gags and brings his friend back to reality.
"Oh please sockhead, It's our summer vacation. We need something that's going to fill our lives with adventure and fun, not boredom." Eddy dismissed his friend's idea as he scans the area trying to find something to do until he hears the sound of A van coming down the street and stopping in front of A yellow brick house with A red door and A window in front. Stepping out of the van is an old man with light brown hair wearing A redshirt under A lab coat, brown jeans pants, and brown shoes. The man then proceeds to enter the house he stopped in front of.
"Hey who's that old dude?" Eddy questioned sitting up as the other two Eds do the same.
"Oh according to what my mother and father told me, that man is A researcher from A faraway place." Double D explained.
"You mean like down the street?" Ed questioned and was met with A cough and Double D putting his hand on his shoulder in encouragement.
"He lives much further away than that Ed." Double D broke the news to him.
"Like in the next city?" Ed questioned again and Double D just sighs this time not wanting to continue this anymore.
"So if this guy comes from some far-away place, that means he's got to have some exotic cash." Eddy concluded as his pupils retreated into his head and two dollar signs replaced them.
"Eddy, don't you remember that foreign currency has no value here?" Double D tried to remind him after the fiasco with their penpals but Eddy wasn't paying the slightest bit of attention which caused the sock wearing preteen to sigh.
"Come on boys. Time to do what we do best." Eddy said as he immediately began running towards the house. Not having much choice Double D and then Ed began following their friend in the direction of the house. As they arrived they noticed that they were not the only ones who had taken an interested in the mysterious neighbor as outside the house stood six more kids. The first was A boy leaning against his bike and he was wearing a green sleeved-shirt, red baseball cap on backward, and black shorts. Three strands of brown hair were also popping out of his cap. His name was Kevin who after seeing A glimpse of the Eds groans as he shares a bitter rivalry with Eddy, but doesn't seem to mind Ed and Double D. "Just great what are you dorks doing here?" Kevin questioned using his signature insult for the three boys.
"Mind your own business shovel-chin." Eddy fired back with an insult of his own. The two then got into each other's face and started growling. Meanwhile next to Kevin was A blonde girl wearing a black t-shirt, a white tank top over it, purple jeans, and had medium blonde hair. even though she doesn't want to say it but she had a small crush on both Eddy and Kevin however one thing she didn't like was this childish rivalry the two had.
Standing next to Nazz is a tall boy with blue hair wearing a yellow shirt with a red slanted stripe in the middle. He also wore light blue pants and red shoes, he is most known as the son of the Shepard and the Urban Ranger Leader named Rolf. "Ah yes, the classic rivalry between three strands of hair Ed-boy and the sliver two-wheel unicycle Kevin-boy." He comments speaking A unique dialect as he has grown custom to Kevin and Eddy's feud.
"Plank says Eddy and Kevin just need to get A room." A fuzzy-headed boy wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and sandals said followed by A cackle. This was Jonny also know as Jonny 2x4 reason being is He is always seen close by with A yellow board of wood he named Plank who he states is his best friend.
"Sarah, Do you think this guy is A nice person?" A boy with curly white hair and A giant retainer circled around his face wearing a light blue sweater with white jeans, and black shoes asked hiding behind the girl he just questioned. This was Jimmy known to be as polite as Double D but also the weakest in the entire Cul-De-Sac.
"Beats me, I just want to know when he's leaving." Sarah answered with an annoyed look on her face. This was Sarah, Ed's younger sister who is known to have reddish-orange medium hair and wears A pink tank top, blue jeans, pink shoes, and had hula hoop earrings pierced in her ears.
"So I take it that you were all also curious about what our new neighbor plans to do with this van?" Double D questioned as everyone basically nods in response, however, Kevin decided to take it one step further.
"But one thing you missed Double-Dweeb is that we were here first and you dorks are just following after us once again." Kevin brought up as he cackles which was followed by Sarah, Jonny, and Rolf. Not taking being laugh at much longer Eddy decides to fight back.
"Oh, we're so sorry that we all don't have a tacky bike to drives us every and anywhere we want." Eddy mocks. This causes Kevin to growl at the shortest Ed. Nazz who had her eyes closed nods her head agreeing with what Eddy said that Kevin's attachment to his bike sometimes even rubs her the wrong way. The two boys were about to engage into A fist fight until the sounds A door being open caught the 9 kids attention. The man which they saw earlier exited to house and was carrying two wooden boxes and then notices the small audience outside his door.
"Well hello, children. Is there something I can help you with?" He questioned. The kids all now notice how awkward it must be to have A bunch of kids outside your door and they could verbally respond until Double D cleared his voice and spoke up.
"Good morning to you sir. My name Eddward, spelled with two D's so most people refer to me as Double D. We were all just wondering if you could tell us who you are, where it is that you came from, and what it is that you do." Double D explained as the man puts A greeting smile on his face knowing that their reasoning was just curiosity.
"Well now if that was it then there's no problem at all. Why don't you all follow me inside and I'll explain everything." The man said as he drops the boxes in the van and then steps back into the house. Now more curious than ever the kids all piled into the house where they see it was mostly barren aside from A few pieces of machinery. "Now to start with My name is Oak, but where I am from everyone refers to me as the Pokemon Professor." The second the word Pokemon was said everyone's became confused. Professor Oak saw this and saw he would need to explain further. Oak then began to go more in-depth with the concept of Pokemon and how they were implied to everyday life in Kanto where he is from. He explains how pokemon live in various places and thrive with what resources they had. There are people who are called pokemon trainers, who train and battle against other pokémon with their own pokémon. Some may even choose to become coordinators breeders, doctors, researchers and so much more. Double D was fascinated throughout the entire speech and how much he could learn about these creatures and the rest were more focused on meeting new creatures they've never seen before.
"Professor, Could it be possible for us to see A Pokemon?" Nazz asked which snapped everyone out of their fantasies. Oak nods his head.
"Of course. I show you all one of my personal favorite Pokemon." Professor Oak said as he goes to A nearby drawer and pulls out A small A marble-sized red and white ball with A black ring in the middle and A button in the front as well. Oak the pressed the button and everyone was taken back as the marble-sized ball suddenly grew to the size where it outgrew Oak's hand. "This is A Pokeball, used to carry Pokemon with you. To release the Pokemon inside you simply throw the ball and-" Oak was explaining as he tosses the ball into the air and the ball pops open and A white energy emerges from the ball taking the shape of A bipedal creature with light orange skin, large, grayish-green eyes and a round snout with small nostrils, A pair of long, thin antennae sprouting from the top of its head with a small horn set between them, A creamy underbelly, three claws on it's arms and two wings sprouting from its back. The Cul-De-Sac kids all were shocked seeing this large creature emerge from the ball, especially Jimmy who was scared at the large being and hid behind Sarah. "No need to be frightened. Pokemon are just like humans. While there are some bad apples, the majority of them are peaceful and friendly." Oak said rubbing the top of the dragon Pokemon's head which it enjoys that entirely.
"I want A Pokemon! I want A Pokemon!" Ed blurted out as everyone stares at him. The lovable oaf couldn't sustain himself anymore as seeing this Pokemon made him want to see all the Pokemon out there.
"No way Ed we have other things to do. Besides, there's nothing in for us anyways." Eddy argues as no doubt he would've been roped into joining Ed as well.
"On the contrary, As I explained before those who become Pokemon Trainers train and battle their Pokemon which trainers across the region. They participate in Pokemon League Challenge where they collect Gym Badges from Gyms across the region so they can compete in the Pokemon League for A chance to be named as the strongest trainer in the region." Oak explained to Eddy however he was half-heartedly paying attention after hearing the words "strongest in the region". This could be his way to get famous and even better...Rich.
"What are we waiting for? How do we start this trainer thing?" Eddy questioned making A complete 180. Double D notices this and sighs knowing Eddy's true ambition. However, he would be lying if he said he wasn't excited about this as well. Traveling into A new region, learning about mysterious creatures it made his mind rush.
"Count me in too, gentlemen." Double D said. Ed glad that his friends were sharing in his excitement picks up the both of them into A bone-crushing hug. It wasn't until Kevin speaking up caused Ed to stop his dance.
"I want A Pokemon too." Kevin said as he wasn't going to be left in the dust by the Eds. If he could win this Pokèmon league then it would prove he is the best. The same could be said about everyone else.
"Rolf wishes to go on this adventure as well and see how far he can go on this new journey testing his skills and strength." Rolf explained his reasoning.
"Count me and Plank in too." Jonny exclaimed as well the same was said for Nazz and Sarah as the latter would tell her mother if she wasn't allowed to go and Ed was. Eddy was starting to get nervous. What he thought could he chance to get away from the Cul-De-Sac kids for awhile and gain respect for himself was slowly breaking with everyone wanting to join in. All that was left was Jimmy.
"Um...I not sure. Doesn't this seem A bit scary?" Jimmy asked the other eight kids.
"Cry-baby Jimmy, you must learn to embrace adventure. Not hide under the covers like A teensy-weensy baby." Rolf tries to encourage Jimmy but the boy was still on the fence. Eddy saw this as A chance of one of his future opponents dropping out. He would add his own verbal fuel to the fire but would probably be scolded by Double D harshly for it so instead just stuck it safe and started to mimic A chicken flapping his wings. While Double D saw this he didn't get to chance to straighten Eddy out as he was beaten to it by Sarah who gave A straight right to Eddy's face who was knocked off his feet. She then calms down and focuses on supporting her friend.
"Jimmy, It doesn't have to be scary. We can go on the adventure together and have each other's back." Sarah assured him. Jimmy perked up from hearing this.
"Really? Okay, then I'll go too." Jimmy agreed. Eddy groans now he would have to most likely have to battle Jimmy as well now during this journey.
"Splendid. Now then for your starter Pokemon." Oak which caught them by surprise.
"Starter Pokemon?" They asked. Oak then walks over to A cart with nine Pokeballs on it.
On the left was A small, quadruped Pokémon that has blue-green skin with darker patches. It has red eyes with white pupils, pointed, ear-like structures on top of its head, and a short, blunt snout with a wide mouth. A pair of small, pointed teeth are visible in the upper jaw when its mouth is open. Each of its thick legs ends with three sharp claws. On its back is a green plant bulb, which is grown from a seed planted there at birth.
In the middle of the line is A bipedal, reptilian Pokémon with a primarily orange body and blue eyes. Its underside from the chest down and the soles of its feet are cream-colored. It has two small fangs visible in its upper jaw and two smaller fangs in its lower jaw. A fire burns at the tip of this Pokémon's slender tail and has blazed there since Charmander's birth.
On the right was A small Pokémon that resembled a light blue turtle. It has large brown eyes and a slightly hooked upper lip. On each of its hands and feet have three pointed digits. The end of its long tail curled inward. Its body was encased by a tough shell. This shell was brown on the top, pale yellow on the bottom, and has a thick white ridge between the two halves.
"Here are the Pokemon you can choose from." He begins to explain going from left to right. "The grass-type Pokemon, Bulbasaur, The fire-type Pokemon, Charmander, and The water-type Pokemon Squirtle." Professor Oak explained. Ed went first and already had his pick set upon seeing the fire lizard, Charmander. Eddy was next and looks between the Grass and Water starter before settling on Squirtle leaving Double D to pick the Grass Type Bulbasaur which he didn't mind as he found all three to be interesting.
The next three were up to choosing were Rolf, Nazz and Kevin. Rolf choose Charmander seeing it flame as A sign of burning spirit and will and Rolf was going to help the lizard to harness the spirit inside. Nazz went next and picked Squirtle due to thinking Bulbasaur looked A bit too weird for her taste leaving Kevin to choose Bulbasaur.
The last three were Jonny, Sarah, and Jimmy. Jonny was already to choose until Sarah pushes him to the ground stating that Jimmy was going to go first. Jimmy was A bit frightened by the flame on Charmander's tail, the same went with Bulbasaur not finding its skin tone friendly and decided to stick with Squirtle. Sarah was next and immediately picked Charmander. Jonny not liking going last was still glad that Bulbasaur was still left as that what he wanted to go with. With that, all nine kids had their Pokemon.
"So what happens now, Professor?" Double D questioned as everyone looks at the Pokemon Professor.
"Well, I'm having A plane come over here in about 2 hours. If you can pack anything essential you may need to take with you, and leave your parents with messages telling them where you are going." Professor Oak explained. The nine kids all nodded their heads and returned their Pokemon back into their Pokeballs. The scene then transitions inside A white and pink, retro-styled room with a king-sized circular bed. This was Eddy's room and A on the bed was his school backpack was opened and inside was A sleeping bag, A jacket, several bags of chips as well A three dirty magazines. He was told to back things he couldn't live without. So far he's covered sleeping arrangements, cold weather, and food. He's lost track of time and was surprised hearing knocks on his back door. He goes to open it and sees Double D with his school bag packed with items for their journey.
"Well, Eddy are you ready to go? The professor's plane has arrived to take us to the Kanto Region." Double D questioned.
"Great." Eddy said as he packs A few more things and rapidly writes up A note to his parents and then grabs Double D by the neck and storms out of the house locking the door behind him. They then met up with Ed who was running to the plane dragging his school bag filled with things he needed for the adventure as well. The three Eds eventually reached the middle of the Cul-de-sac and saw A medium-size plane parked in the middle of the street which was big enough for proper take-off and landing.
"OK is that everyone here?" Professor Oak questioned as the kids all nodded. "Okay then, everyone gets on board, I've arranged my pilot to take us to Pallet Town in the Kanto Region." Professor Oak said as the kids pilled in. The plane itself was capable of fitting fifteen passengers. From top to bottom left to right the seats were taken as Double D, Ed, Eddy, Rolf, Jonny, Nazz, Sarah, Jimmy, and last Kevin. Each kid was excited in their own ways. Double D was excited in learning much more about the Pokemon species and the culture around them. Ed, Eddy, Rolf, and Kevin were more excited in battling along their Pokemon and proving they can be the very best. The Plane started slow but gained enough speed to pull up into the air taking the kids towards the start of their new adventure.
