Previously on Adventures In Kanto, The Ed Boys had finally arrived in Viridian City where they briefly meet up with Nazz. After showing the Eds The Pokémon Center Double D makes the discovery that there is A Pokémon Gym in Viridian City as well however upon the three making the short trek they are met with disappointment after realizing the gym was closed and Eddy vowed the three were to make A nonstop run to Pewter City. Back down on Route 1, Jimmy made progress as A trainer as well as managed to capture A Sentret to his party. Meanwhile, over on Route 22, Kevin and Rolf were in the middle of training their Pokémon in wild battles when Kevin successfully captures A Spearow. Out of nowhere, Jonny2x4 makes his presence to the boys and catches Ponyta. After watching this Kevin challenges Jonny tomorrow and before the night is done Jonny met up with the Eds who were resting on Route 2 and caught a Hoothoot as well. Who will be the winner of the Kevin vs Jonny battle and how well will the Ed's fare inside Viridian Forest. Find out now!
Chapter 4: Forest Exploration Part 1
Route 2 - The Eds
The morning sun was rising in the Kanto Region now marking the second day of the Cul-De-Sac kid's Pokémon Journeys. Currently on Route 2, while two of the Eds were fast asleep one of them was soon to awaken. The sounds of an alarm started going off. Eventually, the alarm was silenced, and sitting up from his sleeping bag was Double D. Looking down at his watch, the digital device read 7 am exactly. "Perfect timing." Double D said as he then rolls his sleeping bag up and then packs it away neatly into his bag. He then pulls out his canteen which was thankfully filled with freshwater, however, instead of drinking straight from the lid, Double D pulls out a plastic cup and pours the water in it before then drinking the cup. It didn't take long for Eddy to awaken as well.
"Oh jeez, my back is killing me." The short Ed groaned as he sat up from his sleeping bag. He turns to see Double D already awake which wasn't surprising and offers him a drink from his canteen. "So what's for breakfast?" Eddy questioned.
"Unfortunately Eddy, we still have low options in terms of nourishment. Just then A loud grumbling was heard shaking everything in the vicinity. Both Double D and Eddy were doing their best to remain upright until the noise ended. After the noise died down Ed sat up and yawned loudly.
"U-uh good morning Ed." Double D greeted the tallest Ed still trying to recover from the noise. Suddenly Ed looks down and it seems the source of the noise was now discovered as Ed raises his shirt and the noise started up once again, revealing to be his stomach.
"Yep, belly empty." Ed simply said while Double D and Eddy look back at him in disbelief but at this point should start to get used to it with Ed.
"Whatever Breakfast awaits for us in Pewter City." Eddy said still keeping his intentions of going nonstop towards the next city for the three of them to earn their first Gym Badge. Nodding his head Double D begins to roll up his sleeping bag neatly in contrast to Eddy and Ed who were hastily packing up their sleeping bag.
"Oh oh, I know." Ed said digging into his traveling bag again and taking out the same cereal from last night. "Chunky Puffs!" Ed cheered while Eddy facepalmed and groaned in annoyance. While the three of them all enjoyed the brand of cereal in Ed's hand, however considering that they don't have much else in terms of food and decided to just give in and take in some of the cereal. Double D does so as well. One by one the three boys each took turns eating the cereal and their only solution for the dryness of the cereal instead of being milk it was water.
Double D also helped out with their hunger issue by sharing his peanut butter crackers with his two friends. It would do them well to get some actual food before they start to starve. "So how long would it take us to get to Pewter City, Double D?" Eddy questioned munching on handful after handful of Chunky Puffs.
"Well, Eddy from what I have seen from a map of this region, it seems that as soon as we cross this forest ahead of us then we should be close to the next town." Double D explained. After getting somewhat filled Eddy jumps to his feet.
"Alright then. Next stop, Pewter City." Eddy declared raising his arm in the air and was joined by Ed. Double D does as well though a bit more weakly and shy.
Viridian City Pokémon Center- Kevin, Nazz, Rolf, Jonny
Back in the Viridian City Pokémon Center Nazz and Rolf were all waking up one by one as the sun rises over Viridian City. As Kevin does so, the only thing at the forefront of his mind is his battle with Jonny coming up. Getting up on his feet Kevin started to get ready going downstairs to eat breakfast. The second to awaken was Rolf as he woke up and notices Kevin was already gone from his bed. "I see Kevin has left to prepare himself for battle." Rolf commented as he started getting out of bed as well unknowing that Nazz had awoken as well hearing what Rolf was saying.
"Battle?" She questioned sitting up and looking at Rolf.
"Yes, Go-Go Nazz Girl. Jonny Wood-boy has challenged Kevin to a battle of our creatures today." Rolf explained. Nazz caught off guard from this now gets out of bed.
"Is that really the right thing to do?" She questioned. She hated the childish fighting the boys had in the Cul-De-Sac but if the fighting was going to continue over here she rather not include the Pokémon in their rivalries, especially Eddy and Kevin. After the three of them got ready and got breakfast for themselves and their Pokémon. After doing so the three left the Pokémon Center and made their way back toward Route 22. Once there they noticed Sarah, Jimmy, and Jonny already there.
"Sarah? Jimmy? You two are here to watch?" Kevin questioned seeing the two younger Cul-De-Sac residents here as well.
"Of course. I mostly came to see baldy get beaten." Sarah explained her feelings for Jonny on full display.
"Well, that and it would also help us out in learning how to battle." Jimmy quickly added trying to turn the atmosphere back to a more friendly one.
"Alright Kevin, are you ready to battle?" Jonny questioned as Kevin answered by smirking. With Rolf, Sarah, and Jimmy standing on the sidelines, Nazz was standing in the middle as she was asked by Kevin to serve as the referee
"This battle between Kevin and Jonny is about to begin. Each trainer can use two Pokémon and the battle will be over when both Pokémon on either side are unable to continue battling." Nazz announced as Kevin and Jonny stood across from each other a good few feet away from one another.
"Alright, Jonny. I hope you're ready to lose." Kevin boasted as he had mentally prepared himself as best as he could for this battle.
"Plank says don't go crying when we beat ya." Jonny said as digs into his pocket and pulls out A Pokéball and enlarges it. "Go Ponyta." Jonny called out throwing the Pokéball and out came his recently caught Fire-type Pokémon which shocked everyone except Rolf and Kevin.
"Baldy's already got himself another Pokémon?!" Sarah questioned shocked and a bit annoyed seeing the new Pokémon that Jonny just sent into battle. Nazz and Jimmy were just as shocked to see the new Pokémon while Kevin and Rolf were casual already seeing Jonny's Ponyta.
"Heh, Let's do this Spearow." Kevin said doing the same as he sends out his newly caught Pokémon as well leaving Nazz, Jimmy, and Sarah in even more shock. The boys got themselves more Pokémon while they weren't paying attention.
"Alright, battle begin!" Nazz signaled the beginning of the battle.
"Quick Spearow, Peck attack!" Kevin commanded pointing a finger towards the fire horse opposing the two.
"(Get yourself ready for A pecking!)" Spearow commented as she tucks her wings in and divebombs towards the fire type.
"Ponyta, Tackle attack!" Jonny commented. Ponyta charges to meet Spearow. The two pokémon collided with one another dealing each other damage and then taking a jump back. "Wow, your Spearow's really strong." Jonny commented. Kevin however wasn't interested in communication during battle.
"Peak again!" Kevin called for as everyone watches Spearow charging in for another Peck. Jonny instead of repeating the same move he instead had a different idea.
"Ponyta, Use Leer!" Jonny called out as Ponyta shoots a nasty glare at the normal flying type charging toward him. A blue aura was briefly visible around Spearow but that was all that happened. The move itself did nothing in stopping the attack as this time Spearow made contact as her beak struck the fire type right on the top of his head underneath the flame.
"(Did you think some stink eye was going to stop me?)" Spearow taunted.
"(You got a long way to go in battling if you don't understand the usefulness of status moves.)" Ponyta commented still more than ready to continue battling. After getting insulted by the four-legged fire type, Spearow instead started to get angrier.
"(You four-legged fool. You're going to regret those words.)" Spearow squawked.
"Peak again!" Kevin ordered as Spearow charged once again and Jonny's retort was to call for another Leer. The same result occurred and Kevin wasn't amused in the slightest. "Look, Baldy unless you get your Pokémon to actually battle with mine, this isn't going to be exciting."Kevin taunted.
"You don't realize but Ponyta actually has the advantage." Jonny retorted which confused everyone.
"But wait, Jonny's Ponyta has taken a lot more damage. How does it have the advantage?" Jimmy questioned saying the million-dollar question that was on everyone's mind at the moment.
"I'll show you. Ponyta use Tackle." Jonny called for his only offensive move as Ponyta charges at the flying type.
"(I see your coward of a trainer is finally showing some guts.)" Spearow taunted hearing Kevin call for yet another Peck attack. The two Pokémon charged toward one another again and while everyone was expecting the outcome to be similar as the first time the two collided that wasn't going to be the case. As the two Pokémon collided with one another instead of another stalemate this time Spearow was overpowered and took much more damage. Everyone except Jonny was shocked to see this as Spearow was sent flying before recovering. Growling Kevin demanded answers.
"What the heck was that?!" He shouted towards the fuzzy-headed boy.
"It's a trick that Plank taught me. I'll tell you about it after the battle." Jonny explained. Meanwhile, Spearow who was winded from the last attack was heavily breathing, signaling that she didn't have much energy left to fight with. Temper getting to him Kevin just called for another Peck attack. "Tackle again Ponyta!" Jonny called for a counter. The two once again clashed with the same result, Spearow getting knocked a few feet backward.
"How is this happening?" Kevin questioned as he was trying to understand what are those moves that Jonny called for that effectively turned this battle around.
"Tackle!" Jonny called not letting up the pressure. Kevin countered with another Peck and the two clashed once again with Spearow getting sent flying. This time the normal/flying type crashed to the ground with swirls in its eyes.
"Kevin's Spearow is unable to battle, This first round goes to Jonny." Nazz declared waving her arm towards Jonny. Growling Kevin took out Spearow's Pokéball and recalled the fainted bird.
"We did it, Ponyta." Jonny cheered the fire horse on.
"(It was all thanks to your judgment in battle.)" He said back to Jonny panting a bit showing the number that Spearow did on him.
"Can't believe Baldy's actually doing this good." Sarah growled seeing Jonny doing so well.
"Yes, Rolf is amazed at the skills Jonny wood-boy seemed to have gained on his own." Rolf added in praising the fuzzy-headed boy. Meanwhile, Kevin wasn't going to get shown up this badly and take it lying down. Reaching towards his belt he then grabs his starter's Pokéball.
"Don't count your chickens yet, Baldy. I still have one more left. Go, Bulbasaur!" Kevin called throwing the ball and out his the grass and poison type.
"(Finally my turn huh? I'll make quick work of this one.)" He boasted ready to jump into battle while Ponyta was a bit worse for wear.
"Alright, battle begin!" Nazz signaled the start of the next match. Almost immediately both boys leaped for the chance to strike first.
"Use Tackle now!" They said in unison as both Pokémon charged toward one another then separated sustaining damage each. Ponyta was barely standing and hardly had any energy left.
"Ponyta can't take another attack, What do we do buddy?" Jonny questioned as he brings the yellow hunk of wood up to his ear. "Really? Alright then." Jonny said taking Plank's advice as Kevin's Bulbasaur charged in for another tackle. "Ponyta, growl." Jonny called for.
"(I understand.)" Ponyta said as the four-legged fire type growls towards the charging Bulbasaur causing a red aura to appear around the grass/poison type just before the attack landed. Bulbasaur collided with the side of Ponyta knocking the fire type out.
"Jonny's Ponyta is unable to battle, This round goes to Kevin." Nazz declared waving her arm towards Kevin. Jonny recalled the fire type to its Pokéball.
"Thanks for the hard work." Jonny said as he puts Ponyta's Pokéball away.
Alright then so it's going to be Bulbasaur vs Bulbasaur. Good luck trying to beat mine." Kevin boasted as he assumed Jonny would choose his own starter.
"That's what you think but I got another Pokémon to battle with." Jonny declared which shocked everyone.
"Is it true? Jonny2x4 has another critter to battle with?" Rolf questioned. Kevin was in disbelief.
"Go, Hoothoot." Jonny called throwing the Pokéball showing the Pokémon he caught the previous night.
"(yawns...nap time's over?)" The brown owl questioned. Seeing the new Pokémon only angered Kevin and Sarah, the latter even more as it seems that she was being left behind by everyone.
"Alright, Nazz signaled the start of the next and final round.
"Bulbasaur, Tackle attack!" Kevin commanded as the grass type charged with a tackle attack.
"Dodge it, Hoothoot!" Jonny called as the owl flapped its wings to get airborne avoiding direct contact. "Now circle back and use Tackle." Jonny countered as Hoothoot does just that colliding with the grass type.
"(Ouch! Jeez what with constantly being put up against flying types?)" He groaned taking the tackle attack as he shakes the cobwebs out of his head.
"Tackle again!" Kevin called for as Bulbasaur charges in once again.
"Growl!" Jonny called for using the same move as Ponyta did on Bulbasaur as another red aura was briefly seen around Bulbasaur. The game of back and forth continued on
"Those moves Growl and Leer are a type of move called Status moves." Jonny shared which caught everyone's attention.
"What are Status Moves and how did you find out about them?" Jimmy asked. Kevin was just as curious as the rest of them as he wanted to know how he lost and wanted to prevent it again.
"Plank told me. Status Moves are something all Pokémon can learn. They don't cause direct damage but can help you out in battle in a big way. Leer lowers a Pokémon's physical defense power, and Growl lowers Pokémon's physical power. It's also possible to check our Pokédexes to see what moves our Pokémon know as well as what those moves do." Jonny explained as everyone soaked the information in.
"Whatever. Now let's get out of here before those dorks show up." Kevin commented.
"What are you talking about? I saw the Eds last night on Route 2 camping at the gate of the forest. They're probably halfway through the forest and to Pewter City at this point." Jonny nonchalantly revealed to the shock of the other Cul-De-Sac members.
"WHAT?!" The other five Cul-De-Sac kids questioned in unison completely in shock.
"Those dorks are that ahead of us now?!" Kevin questioned hands shaking in rage at being left behind. Growling he then points the Pokéball at Bulbausar returning it. "That's it. Rolf, Nazz we're going to head to the Pokémon Center to heal, and then we're heading out to catch up with the dorks." Kevin instructed as he didn't wait for an answer already beginning to head off towards the Pokémon Center.
Viridian Forest -The Eds
Viridian Forest, A deep and sprawling forest that is said to be a natural maze as many people get lost inside. The trees in the forest are so thick that little light gets in and the Eds were currently standing at the front of the entrance after passing through a gate.
"My word, the trees here are incredible." Double D admired how tall and lush the trees were. The vegetation here trounced anything he could've seen back in Peach Creek. However, Eddy was less than impressed as he had to continue listening to Double D geek out to the various facts between Viridian Forest and any forest back in Peach Creek as this continued until Eddy grabbed Double D by his hat.
"Hey, We're not here to watch grass grow Double D. Time's wasting." Eddy rudely reminded him before looking around and noticing that now Ed was missing. "Where'd lumpy go?" Eddy questioned looking around before noticing the ground and surrounding area shaking. Looking around for the source they eventually locate it as it was Ed who was repeating banging his head into the trunk of a tree.
"Ed, what in sam hill are you doing? You are disrupting the ecosystem of this environment?" Double D scolded the taller Ed.
"I'm a woodpecker, Double!" Ed informed his friends continuing to repeatedly bang his head on the trunk of the tree. Eddy groaned facepalming while Double D continues to watch. While doing this, an object fell from the tree and hit Ed on his head. The object that fell did indeed resemble an acorn however as Double D determined was much larger. It also had a beige, mask-like pattern that covers its large black eyes, and it has two beige feet. It also has a gray "cap" with a short stem on top of its head.
(*Yawns* "Heyyy...what's the big deal dropping me from my tree? I was taking a nap.") The strange Pokémon questioned looking up at the three Eds.
"What the heck is that? Is it an acorn?" Eddy questioned seeing the acorn with eyes.
"It looked a bit larger than the acorns were used to." Double D commented before continuing. "If I were to guess, it's another Pokémon." Double D concluded.
"Fear not for I, Ed shall contest this creature of the earth in battle." Ed assured as he took the challenge stepping in front of his two friends and gripping his Charmander's Pokéball."Okay, my little fire lizard. It is time for us to do battle." Ed called for throwing the Pokéball upwards as it opens it and out came Ed's Charmander.
"(Time for another battle?)"Charmander questioned first looking up at Ed and then seeing his opponent. "(Unfortunately for you, you're about to be beaten.)" The fire-lizard boastfully said eager for battle awaiting for Ed's command.
"Charmander, Unleash your mighty scratch attack." Ed ordered as Charmander didn't waste any time in charging towards the new Pokèmon. The attack landed and the living acorn groaned after taking the attack head-on.
"(Not cool.)" He said groaning in pain with one of his eyes shut trying to deal with the pain.
"(We're in the middle of battle.)" Charmander pointed out once again.
"(Well alright I guess.)" The acorn said as he then lowers his head and charged toward Charmander via A Tackle attack.
"Dodge it, My mighty Fire Warrior!" Ed called out as Charmander obeys dodging to the right watching Seedot going right past him. "Now take it down with one more scratch." Ed called out as Charmander's arm raised once again and charged towards Seedot landing another Scratch doing great damage, via A critical hit however Seedot managed to take the hit still standing.
"(Wow, you two are good.)" Seedot commented praising the teamwork between Charmander and Ed.
"Woah, Lumpy's kinda good." Eddy commented then saw Ed reaching down to his belt for an empty Pokéball. "Wait what is he doing?" Eddy asked.
"It looks like the same thing that Jonny did in front of us last night." Double D said. Overhearing this Charmander smirked looking towards Seedot.
"(Well looks like you'll be just as good soon.)" Charmander said to the acorn as Ed took aim.
"Time to make a new friend, Pokéball go!" Ed threw the red and white capsule towards Seedot striking it on its head as it was sucked in. After falling to the ground, the ball shook once...twice...thrice...and then a ding was heard. Heading over to pick it up Ed had the biggest grin on his face and he bounced from foot to foot. "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I caught a new friend!" Ed cheered. It was then his Pokédex turned on showing new registration data.
"Seedot, The Acorn Pokémon. Seedot looks exactly like an acorn when it is dangling from a tree branch. It startles other Pokémon by suddenly moving. This Pokémon polishes its body once a day using leaves." The Pokédex informed before going silent again.
"Congratulations Ed." Double D praised Ed patting him on his back.
"Yeah, nice job monobrow." Eddy joined in. Overcome with happiness Ed pulled Double D and Eddy into tight hugs not even noticing that the latter two were starting to gasp from lack of oxygen from the bone-crushing hug, and from Ed's lack of deodorant use. Eventually, they were let go and Eddy then climbs onto of Ed as the two pressed on. Double D was about to join them when he noticed on the ground was a disk. Picking it up he tsked muttering something about pollution as he puts the disk in his bag before rushing to join his friends.
Route 2 - Nazz, Rolf, Kevin
Meanwhile back at Route 2, after making a quick stop at the Pokémon Center, Rolf, Nazz, and Kevin were rushing as fast as they could towards the entrance of Viridian Forest. "Come on hurry up! Those dorks might've snuck around us and got ahead but they ain't beating us to that badge!" Kevin assured while Nazz and Rolf were out of breath behind him.
"Again with this duck word of yours Kevin." Rolf commented but was ignored by the jock as they started running through the tall grass. During which something caught onto Nazz's leg and started crawling up her body until it dangled in front of her face. Seeing this Nazz froze in her tracks and shrieked in shock and fear.
"Ewwww! It's a bug!" Nazz shrieked in disgust repeatedly trying to shake the bug off as Kevin and Rolf looked over at the blonde to see a green caterpillar with a yellow underside and teardrop-shaped tail. Eventually, she does so and moves toward Kevin and Rolf. Not amused Rolf took her hand and began to scold her.
"Pampered like a baby Nazz-girl, you disappoint Rolf. This is no longer the Cul-De-Sac. We are in a new location so you must also not the be same as you were back then." Rolf scolded but also encouraged Nazz. After thinking about it for a while. She calms down and gets back to her feet.
"O-o-okay then." Nazz said as she holds a Pokéball in her hand. "Squirtle, On stage!" Nazz called out throwing the Pokéball as her starter emerged landing feet first on the ground and noticing Squirtle.
"(Well time to battle again. Hit me with your best shot.)" Squirtle encouraged showing eagerness for a battle.
"(W-w-well I'll try.)" Caterpie said.
"Squirtle, Use Tackle!" Nazz called for as the blue turtle Pokémon charged headfirst and landed the tackle attack. The difference in size between the two Caterpie took a considerable amount of damage of pain. However, after being encouraged Caterpie readies himself as he then charges back at Squirtle with a tackle of his own. "Dodge It!" Nazz instructed as Squirtle does so moving to the side to avoid the tackle. "Now Tackle again!" Nazz said as the three humans witnessed Squirtle colliding headfirst into the Caterpie once again this time slamming the bug type against the tree. A winge of guilt tinged at Nazz's heart seeing the damage. She was just about to call off the battle however she then notices Caterpie getting ready for battle again. "It still wants to battle? You're a tough little guy." Nazz praised the bug a bit.
"Nazz, hurry up and beat it already!" Kevin shouted from the side only to be silenced by Rolf.
"Be silent, Kevin-boy. It seems Go-go Nazz girl is reaching a tough decision." Rolf said reading the situation clearly better than Kevin.
"But Rolf, the longer we waste here the further those dorks get ahead of me-uhh us." He quickly corrected. Finally, Nazz came to a decision as instead of declaring another attack Nazz instead takes off an empty Pokéball from her trainer belt and enlarges it. "Pokéball go!" She threw the red and white ball towards the worm which bounces off its head and opens it absorbing the small creature. After falling to the ground the Pokéball shook a few times before it stopped shaking and then dinged signaling the capture was completed. As with Ed before, Nazz's Pokédex turned on showing new registration data.
"Caterpie, The Worm Pokémon. It's easy to catch, and it grows quickly, making it one of the top recommendations for novice Pokémon Trainers." The Pokédex informed before going dim and silent once more.
"Alright, I caught another Pokèmon." Nazz celebrated while going over and picking up the Pokéball containing her new Pokémon. Despite it being a bug, Nazz was impressed with the strength of the small green bug. Not only that but she recalls something that Double D has taught her is that insects and humans would grow into beautiful creatures.
"Congratulations Go-go Nazz Girl. Allow Rolf to reward you with the pit rub of victory." Rolf offered but before he could Nazz prevents this.
"Maybe later, dude." Nazz said. She wondered what Kevin thought of her latest capture. "So what do you think Kevin? I caught another Pokémon." Nazz said.
"Great. But right now we still need to pick up the pace to catch up with the Eds." Kevin said as he takes off in a sprint once again. Feeling dejected from the lack of praise from the jock, Nazz pouted as she takes out a couple of Potions given to them by Professor Oak and then heals her two Pokémon before following Kevin with Rolf taking the rear.
Viridian Forest - The Eds
Meanwhile further into the forest, The Eds continued heading deeper into the forest following the paths that Double D claims to be the most traveled. "Are you sure about this, Sockhead?" Eddy questioned. There were many paths leading many left, right, and forward into the forest, and with the limited amount of food they had, it wouldn't be wise for them to get any more lost before they run out of food.
"Don't worry Eddy. There's a very easy way to keep ourselves from lost." Double D assured Eddy as he was picking up several short and long dry sticks and snapping and shaping them into place on the ground to make an arrow. "We can use these sticks to make sure we won't be going down a path we previously traversed." Double D explained.
"Well let's keep the show moving then." Eddy commented. Hearing the instruction Ed responded by flooring in and crashing right into Eddy for a few feet before Eddy stops the large Ed. "Ed, what've I told you about bumping into me?" Eddy questioned him. However what Eddy didn't realize was he was spotted by a boy wearing a white shirt, blue shorts, and sandals wearing a brown hat with a blue and white bag on his back carrying a net. He then approaches Eddy and taps him on the shoulder. Eddy turns to face him.
"I challenge you to A Pokémon Battle, mister!" The boy challenged. Eddy thought nothing of it.
"Beat it, kid. I'm in the middle of something here." Eddy shooed the boy away as he reeled his arm back ready to slug Ed who smiled on without a care in the world.
"No way! We locked eyes and that means I have to right to challenge you. If you refuse then you have to give me half of your Pokédollars." The boy explained which stunned Eddy stopping him in his tracks. "Wait what?! You've gotta be kidding me!" Eddy questioned but seeing the straight look on the kid's face showed he was telling the truth.
"If you don't even know about that, then you must be a real bad trainer." The boy commented as Eddy grits his teeth. Letting Ed go he then gave the boy his full undivided attention. "Fine then brat, I'll battle you!" Eddy said angered and ready to put this brat in his place. "What are the rules?" Eddy asked.
"We each battle with all the Pokémon we have on hand and whoever's side runs out of Pokemon to battle with loses." The boy explained. Eddy nodded his head understanding the rules as he grips Squirtle's Pokéball.
"Alright Squirtle, It's showtime!" Eddy threw Squirtle's Pokéball and the water type emerged from his Pokeball.
"(Ready when you are.)" Squirtle said looking over his shoulder at his trainer before looking back at their opponent.
"Go, Weedle!" The bug catcher called for throwing his Pokéball as the Eds noticed a new Pokémon they've not seen yet.
"What kind of Pokémon is that? It's just a bug!" Eddy questioned insultingly as the Weedle screeched at him insulted by the words of the shortest Ed.
"Say what you will but it's going to be having the last laugh. Use Poison Sting!" The bug catcher called for as the stinger on top of Weedle's head glowed purple before being fired towards Squirtle.
"Dodge it!" Eddy called for as Squirtle retracted his head into his shell just before the Poison Sting attack came into contact. "Tackle that squirt's bug." Eddy ordered counter-attacking as Squirtle charged toward Weedle making contact. The tackle did some damage as both Eddy and Squirtle smirked seeing the damage. It wasn't enough to make the boy give up.
"String Shot 'em" The bug catcher ordered and this time A thin silk was shot from Weedle's mouth catching Squirtle's right arm and leg.
"(Ahhh, sick!)" Squirtle commented feeling the sticky silk on his limbs as he desperately tries to shake it off. A blueish aura engulf Squirtle as the move decreased its speed.
"Now Poison Sting attack!" The bug catcher instructed as Weedle's stinger glowed purple which then made contact with Squirtle who then groaned in pain shaking his arm even more which thankfully was shaken off before much damage was done.
"What kind of attack was that?" Eddy questioned.
"Wow, you all must really be some newbies, if you haven't seen A Poison sting attack." The bug catcher taunted once more. Growling Eddy was determined to beat this brat as he was reminding him of Sarah.
"Squirtle, go for another tackle!" Eddy ordered. Squirtle charged ahead and landed the tackle with Weedle barely hanging on.
"Oh no. P-poison sting, Weedle." The bug catcher called for however once again Eddy countered instructing Squirtle to once again dodge and land a tackle. This time Weedle rolled across the forest ground with swirls in its eyes knocked out.
"Booyah you brat!" Eddy boasted.
"(How do you like us now?)" Squirtle questioned acting the same as his trainer. Just then A blue ring envelop Squirtle as Eddy's Pokédex started speaking.
Squirtle grew to Level 7! Squirtle learned Water Gun!
"Water Gun? What kind of move is that?" Eddy questioned.
"Don't get too far for yourself. I still have one more Pokémon left to battle with. Go Weedle!" The bug catcher said throwing the pokéball containing his second Weedle out and Eddy and Squirtle found themselves facing another Weedle.
"Seriously? You have two of the same Pokémon?" Eddy questioned.
"Better than just having one." The boy teased back which Eddy growled.
"Squirtle use that Water Gun attack!" Eddy called for pointing towards the second Weedle. Squirtle hearing the command fired a jet of water from his mouth towards the bug type. The attack landed and cause more damage than Tackle.
"Amazing! It seems that as Pokémon grow and mature they learn new moves to use." Double D was analyzed while Ed was more entranced in watching the battle.
"Weedle! Hang in there, Poison Sting attack!" The bug catcher called for as Weedle charged in for another attack. Eddy seeing how effective the move was called for Water Gun once again. Squirtle fired a stream of water once again as the attack landed on Weedle head-on and made it slam into a tree. Once the attack finished the two trainers saw that Weedle was knocked out as well.
"Booyah again brat! I win!" Eddy boasted once again repeating what he said earlier. After returning his Squirtle, Eddy was then approached by the Bug Catcher.
"Here!" The bug catcher said obviously bitter at the loss handing Eddy 72 Pokédollars. Upon seeing the money placed in his hands, Eddy burst into happiness cackling like a madman.
"I'M RICH!" Eddy shouted shaking the trees nearby. This one battle has made him more money than anything he could've made back in the Cul-De-Sac. Seeing their friend like this Double D sighed in disappointment while Ed just blankly laugh out loud along with Eddy as the laughter of the two Eds echoed throughout the forest.
