AN. Hello there, quick note. When I first started the story I genuinely wanted to rewrite infinity war and include different chapters for each character, however now that I have set myself to actually write it I think I'll completely focus on the Wanda/Loki POV. Either way I'm open to suggestions :) thank you for reading. Feedback is also appreciated although I'm not sure if a lot of people are reading it. I also apologize for any grammar/vocabulary mistakes you may encounter, English is not my first language.
That night he slept peacefully, it had been a while since he had genuinely rested, Wanda had offered herself to keep watch on the computer so both he and Peter could get some sleep.
Perhaps his good luck had something to do with returning to one of the few places in which he could relive a good memory, or maybe the bright sun shining on him, but he could not deny that the way Wanda smirked before teasing him, or how her green eyes shined when speaking didn't influence his good mood.
Loki was gently awakened by an echo calling his name, he opened his eyes, Wanda stood in the room entrance, her head resting on the door frame.
"Stark doesn't know where Thor is yet"
He stood up and took a deep breath, he was back to reality.
"Has Pete decided to take me there?"
"Peter" she corrected him "and just barely, but he has agreed"
"Thank you, just give me a few minutes to ready myself" he told her.
Wanda nodded and left the bedroom, she started preparing herself, from the corner of her eye she noticed Peter anxiously playing with his foot. She sat next to him.
"What's on your mind?" She asked him gently
He shrugged at first but eventually gave in "I left my aunt back home and I feel responsible if anything were to happen to her, or if anything happens at all honestly, and I... I can't do anything about it, what if you and Loki are right? What if Thor needed help and I stopped you?"
She usually didn't like physical contact but almost by instinct she put an arm around his shoulder
"The truth is that no one knows what's the right thing to do, even Stark is improvising as he goes, if you want to go back we will understand you, everyone will"
Peter leaned his head on her shoulder "Thank you"
There was a loud knock on the door, the two of them froze in place, was it coming from Loki's bedroom? The god of mischief opened his own door and looked as puzzled as them, she went inside the person's mind and ran to open the door.
Loki almost gasped seeing his brother standing up with eyes closed, being helped by two aliens.
Wanda pulled them inside, it was Drax, Groot, Rocket and a blue robot girl. They helped carry Thor into one of the rooms and lay him down.
"How did you know we were here?" Loki questioned
"We didn't, we lost control of the ship and Thor mentioned he knew a relative close place from where we were" the raccoon answered.
Loki stared at him for a couple of seconds.
Don't say anything Wanda warned him
"Thank you" Loki chose to finally tell him, Wanda nodded approvingly "what happened? The plan was you returning to Midgard"
"They weren't exactly hiding" the girl answered "I had been tracking Thanos and had to save their asses when he arrived, he thought Thor had one of the stones"
"Nebula, isn't it?" Loki asked "if I remember well, you were one of his children"
In a swift move she pulled a knife out and moved it towards him, he counter acted with pulling out a dagger of his to avoid her knife
"And you his ally" she shot back
"No one here is with Thanos anymore" Wanda stepped in "Loki has proved on which side he's on, you don't need to worry"
"What about her?!" He questioned
She could have killed Thor if she wanted, besides I've been inside her mind, clear as a water she answered
Loki sighed and disappeared his daggers "Very well"
Nebula shot him a murderous glance but stepped back.
Wanda and Loki went to Thor's side, she numbed his mind while Loki tended his wounds, it was mixture of magic and old medicine treatment with a few bandages and some plants he had stacked in the house, she watched and tried to learn as much as a could. She helped him cover Thor's whole torso with the bandages and they let him sleep, before leaving the bedroom she touched Thor's forehead and returned him the dream Loki had given her about that place.
Loki noticed but didn't say anything about it, he was grateful.
"How is Thor?" Drax asked them
"He's resting" she answered and looked at the rest of the group, they all seemed hurt but could at least stand up in difference with Thor "you should too"
"I need to find Gamora" Nebula announced "Thanos is after her"
"What about Earth?" Peter jumped in
"I guess it depends if he finds Gamora or not" Nebula answered dryly
"And do you know where Gamora is?" Wanda asked her
"Yes, but I need a ship"
"We can take you" Wanda promised her and turned to the rest "back on Earth there are people that can treat you"
At first Drax offered to go with Nebula but she didn't accept anyone accompanying her, finally the other team gave in and accepted on going to Earth instead and helping from there.
Peter took them to Wakanda with the space stone, while Wanda and Loki made sure Nebula told them as much as she could about Thanos.
"What about the weapon Thor had made?" Wanda asked
"Thor charged against Thanos, a complete failure would be a nice way to call it"
"Where is it?" Loki asked
"Back in the destroyed ship, no one could lift it up, so we left it there" Nebula answered, she seemed unimpressed
"And do you think it's enough to destroy the stones?"
"Thanos hid his gauntlet while fighting Thor, he probably felt threatened, if not, Thor wouldn't be alive"
Wanda took a deep breath, at least there was a small amount of hope left, she couldn't deny that for a few moments she did think all of the effort they had made was for nothing, that Thanos has invincible.
Once Peter returned, Nebula insisted on Wanda being the only one to take her, she didn't trust Loki and to avoid any further confrontations Wanda agreed, the girl took the space stone alongside Wanda because she wouldn't say where to go.
They arrived to a purple ish colored planet, Wanda stared in awe.
"You can leave now" Nebula told her "keep the stone safe, hold onto it as if is was the last one, he will not stop, and neither can you"
"I won't" she promised and went back to their hiding spot.
She went to see Thor, Loki stood and stared in a corner while his brother slept.
"We need to get his weapon back" Wanda told him
Loki nodded his face unreadable "Thor won't stop until Thanos dies, and even if he somehow succeeds he'll find another worthy reason to sacrifice himself for" he stopped himself, he knew Wanda had lost her brother and probably the love of her life by now "I apologize"
"Don't" she assured him "it's true, some people are too good for their own sake"
"I only want him to live" he said in a low whisper.
That's not your choice she reminded him the same advice he had given her about Vision.
Loki smiled despite himself and walked to Thor, he put a finger to his forehead and woke him up.
"Hello brother" he smiled down
"Am I dead?" Thor asked
"Not yet" Loki promised
Thor smiled "I knew you'd come to the lake, you big softie"
Loki rolled his eyes "Don't try me, you're still weak, I could kill you so easily now"
"No you wouldn't"
"Oh really?"
"Do your best"
"Ehem" Wanda interrupted them "Glad you're alive Thor, we need to get your weapon back"
Thor stood up despite his wounds "Yes, let's waste no time"
Wanda stayed with Peter so the two brothers could have some privacy.
Thor walked using Loki's arm as his support, he told him about Thanos surprise visit, how he killed most of the dwarves and that he had been looking for Thor.
"He thought I had a stone" he laughed "you and Wanda have done a good job hiding"
"Strange was found as well, I believe he also escaped" Loki told him
"And Vision?" He asked
"The stone will be removed from him" Loki cleared his throat "I presume it has already been done"
Thor offered a small Asgardian prayer for him "He and Wanda had a... "
"Relationship, yes, she has been very strong, I must admit I was quite impressed a human could achieve what she has" Loki spoke
"I am glad you two found each other, I must admit I was worried you would..."
"Betray you and join Thanos?"
"Yes"
"I did think about it"
"What stopped you?"
They arrived to the ship, Loki was glad they were interrupted, Thor pulled out the Hammer looking weapon.
"Stormbreaker" Thor announced proudly
Loki chuckled, his brother reminded him of a small child "Fitting name I suppose"
Thor's expression suddenly grew worried, he left the Hammer back on the ground and hugged Loki tightly, at first he was going to make a snarky comment but he found himself holding onto his brother with the same strength.
"Thank you" Thor whispered
"Just don't die" Loki whispered back, and meant it.
The two broke the hug and pretended it never happened, but both were grateful it did. They walked back to the house.
Wanda helped Peter put away the set up, he had begun explaining her how it worked, she hadn't said anything but knew Peter was trying to teach her so that he could go back to Earth with Thor, she'd miss him but knew he needed it, as for herself the thought of returning to Earth simply hurt, she knew Vision was already gone, she'd rather only return when things were over, what was once a responsibility that she wanted to get rid of, was now her top priority, she would keep the stone safe, she would die for it if necessary, just like Vision had.
Thor and Loki returned with the Hammer and they prepared themselves to go back to Earth.
"Guys" Peter began
"You can go Peter" Wanda told him, Loki took a few seconds to catch up but nodded.
Wanda went to hug Peter, he whispered a thank you and they both smiled. The teenager looked awkwardly at Loki not knowing how to say goodbye.
The god of mischief sighed in defeat and gave him a small hug "Be...safe"
Thor smiled and looked rather pleased at his brother's behavior, he then turned to Wanda.
"Wanda" he called her and gave her a hug as well "thank you for taking care of Loki, I will do anything in my power to do the same for...Earth"
She smiled knowing he meant Vision "Be safe Thor"
"I'll return to destroy the stone once the others are" he promised "update Stark and I will find you wherever you are"
The four of them appeared in Wakanda, Wanda tried to look for Vision's mind but felt an overwhelming sense of emptiness instead. Loki took her hand and returned them to the Lake house as fast as he could. He waited for her to catch her breath but instead she reached for Peter's back pack.
"Let's move" her gaze focused, she could have fooled anyone except him, he let her have this and both left to a different safe location.
