A more mature, supernatural version of Yu-Gi-Oh in which there is a separate side of the world filled with supernatural creatures and Yugi happens to be one of them.

Yugi was really getting tired of Jounouchi's past coming back to haunt them. And honestly, no one was going to miss these idiots. They would be just another statistic, souls that would be discreetly forgotten about once the scene was fixed by the cleaners.

Jounouchi looked at his friend, panic in his eyes at the fact he was being tazed.

So you could imagine his shock when he felt a ripple of what could only be supernatural energy fill the warehouse.

In an instant, all the exits were barred shut.

"What the hell? Who's doing that?" said Hirutani.

He didn't have much of a warning before the tiny midget he had been torturing stood up with a dark gleam in his eyes.

Something passed between Yugi and Jounouchi. A silent understanding of no survivors.

Jounouchi's muscles ripped, his face began to contort. The sound of his body changing was grotesque and terrifying for the humans, and then one of the other teens screamed in pain and fear.

A long, terrifying howl erupted from Jounouchi's throat, and in his place stood a massive sandy-colored wolf-shifter.

He cast a glance towards the smell of blood...Yugi was already on his second victim, fangs glistening in the limited light and his normally purple eyes a bloody red. Red liquid dripped from his fangs and down his mouth.

Hirutani did not have much of a chance to say anything as Jounouchi leapt on him. The blood and viscera was darkly satisfying, but not as much as the knowledge this human pest would not be bothering him again.

The human teens did not stand a chance in hell.

When the last human was dealt with, Jounouchi looked to his friend.

Yugi was already calling the cleaners...all those who lived in the shadows, even as peripherally as he did, knew the number and the Rules by heart.

While they waited, mostly to make sure no other humans stumbled across the scene, Jounouchi looked to Yugi, questions in his eyes.

"I'm a damphir... I'm too young to chose between hiding as unusually long lived or full immortality," said Yugi, knowing what he wanted to ask. "You're a rogue wolf shifter, right?"

"Yeah...how long have you..."

Yugi paused in what he was doing with his phone to stare at him.

"Please tell me you know about the List."

"What List?"

Yugi sighed.

"Once the cleaners get here we'll need to visit the hidden alley," said Yugi. He had the distinct feeling Jounouchi was behind on a lot of things.

Jounouchi looked confused, but followed Yugi's lead once they got a quick change of clothes and cleaned off the blood. All part of the services.

Jou flinched a bit while in the hidden alley...he never had much luck around there.

It took him a few minutes to register the usual animosity was missing. Now it was replaced with apathy.

He was confused. He barely noticed Yugi holding his shirt sleeve, as holding his hand would send too many confusing signals.

Yugi lead him to a building with an official looking sign. What followed was a dizzying two hours as Jounouchi found himself filling out a ridiculous amount of paperwork. It was when he got to the 'pack' part that he kept tripping up.

Yugi sighed, and would take over at that point and Jounouchi let him, mostly because he was bewildered.

Yugi was nice enough to feed him at least. He was starving.

"Yug...what the heck was that about?" said Jounouchi.

"Apparently your father or whoever your original pack was failed to fill out a number of forms to give you the support all shifters are supposed to have. Case in point, you should have been added to the list of supernaturals attending public school in case of incidents."

"...And the pack forms?"

"Getting into an established pack is ridiculously hard, particularly for lone wolves who have been solo as long as you have. It's easier to fill out a 'new pack', or at least a surrogate one for legal reasons."

"...Are you tellin' me you set it up so I was considered part of your pack?" he asked carefully.

"Grandpa's a known vampire bloodline, and it's not that uncommon for vampires to take on shifters or adopt them. Besides, if you wanted this means you could legally leave your dad and live with us... I know we have room for another person."

Jounouchi was so overwhelmed he almost wanted to cry.

Yugi patted him on the head, which was a bit weird considering the height difference.

"Wait...if you're a vamp then what about..."

"Anzu and Honda are straight human," said Yugi without hesitation. "I know who the others are in school, but you're the only other one in my class and we prefer to keep our distance."

Jounouchi thought over his options, but after nearly getting brained by his 'father' for ruining his clothes and being so late in getting home.

The thought of a pack that accepted him and actually wanted him around was so tempting it wasn't hard to make a decision. Two days after returning to his 'home', he gathered everything that was important while his father was blackout drunk. He made a particular point to get as many of the important papers, as clothes could be replaced.

Yugi merely smiled and showed him the spare room, which he had already made up after guessing the taller boy would leave his 'father' if given half the chance.

A tan wolf was lazying about on the couch. He had put a blanket down first, so it was okay. He barely paid any mind to the fact Yugi...or someone who smelled like Yugi...entered the room.

There was an undercurrent of something he had come to associate with full-blooded vampires, myrrh, sand, and the part his hind-brain always took note of first regardless of the situation, an Alpha.

This alpha radiated a presence and power that made his inner wolf sit up straight and take notice, because it recognized the feel of what could only be a noble bloodline even if he didn't know what it was.

The aura was much stronger than anything else he had felt, so he was always on his best behavior around it.

He heard a gentle chuckle, and decided discretion was the better part of valor and not open his eyes. There was a warm, but firm hand giving his ears a good rubbing. His back leg began to twitch with pleasure.

He had to hold back a whine when the hand went away, but then he felt something even better. Someone was taking a brush through the matted fur and making it straight again. He could never get the harder to reach spots just right.

He felt someone sitting down and allowing him to bask in the scent. His subconscious brain recognized it as pack and he didn't need much prompting to lay his head on the other's lap. His inner wolf allowed the vampire to scent mark him as one of their own... he was a beta, and it was nice to have a proper alpha to call his own.

The day dragged on and Jounouchi really didn't want to get up. He was too comfortable.

He reluctantly did when his bladder made a rather pointed reminder of it's existence.

Jounouchi only belatedly noticed Yugi's scent went back to the slightly weaker version, this time without the underlying scent of myrrh and full vampire, among other things.

Anzu felt she had to say something, even though if she was right it wouldn't really bother her.

"Hey Jou...are you and Yugi, you know...dating?"

Jounouchi spat out his soda, as did Yugi. Honda looked at her incredulous.

"Are you kidding me?" said Jou, irate.

"It's just... you and Yugi have been ridiculously close lately and you're more in tune with him than you ever were with Honda."

Honda frowned.

"She has a point...you've definitely been acting a little too close to Yugi lately."

Jounouchi looked mortified. Yugi, however, was exasperated.

"We're not dating," he said firmly. They looked at him. "Jounouchi has been living in the spare bedroom in the shop. Grandpa's already filed to become his legal guardian."

Honda stared.

"Wait... legal guardian?"

"He was really concerned about certain things Jou slipped about his home life, so he contacted a special lawyer who deals with this sort of thing and they've been discreetly getting things rolling without alerting his dad too much. Jou's been living in the shop for almost two weeks now," explained Yugi.

And by special lawyer, he meant a wolf shifter who dealt with pack laws and emergency placements of rogue wolves. Jounouchi's father was pure human, and since there was a vampire coven willing to take him in, they were filing for a special court order to switch Jounouchi's legal guardian to Yugi's grandfather. It didn't hurt that Jounouchi was already displaying several signs of having bonded to them as a surrogate pack, and several of his bad habits were slowly disappearing.

"Congratulations! So does that mean you'll be siblings then?" asked Anzu.

"Close enough," said Jounouchi. Serenity would probably love the kid, actually.

Anzu was glad to have that particular mystery solved. Honda just looked uncomfortable.

"Besides," Yugi added, mostly to mess with them "Jounouchi is definitely not my type. Too butch."

"What's that supposed to mean?" said Jounouchi with a playful growl.

"Oh please, did you really think I missed the fact you tend to look at magazines with older women in it? You must really have a thing for the cougar type," said Yugi dryly. Jounouchi flushed red, surprised at being caught out.

Anzu and Honda...firmly changed the conversation. They really didn't want to hear any more.

A few hours later...

Jounouchi was walking behind Yugi on his right side. It was a position he took naturally without a second thought or any instruction. He saw a lot of the older wolves shooting him approving looks at his subordinate behavior.

Yugi was a hell of a lot better Alpha to follow than that asshole Hirutani, that was for sure.

"So what are we doing here again?" asked Jounouchi.

"We're picking up grandpa's special order and dropping off some papers."

Yugi didn't tell Jounouchi the special order was a ruse to set up a small party for him. The paperwork had gone through a few days ago and his grandfather wanted to properly welcome Jounouchi to the family, since the boy was acting as Yugi's right hand.

It was becoming increasingly obvious his grandson would likely chose the route of immortality rather than live his life as a mortal like he had. The only question was who the Old Blood would be that Yugi would serve for a hundred years as the requirement.

There were so few left that it took years of careful negotiations and meetings for the ritual to take place...Yugi would be well into his twenties if not thirties by the time they could be completed.

When they got back to the shop, Jounouchi was taken aback by the small party. He didn't really try to hide his happy (manly) tears of joy that he wouldn't have to deal with that awful excuse of a human again.

It was obvious to everyone that something big had happened to Jounouchi, and it even more obvious that he had decided to submit himself to Yugi in some way. The supernatural sect in the school approved of his behavior, since he had calmed down considerably.

Everyone assumed the deceptively timid kid had something on Jounouchi and left it at that. It wasn't their business.

However one set of eyes observed the situation and silently confirmed their suspicions about Muto.

Jounouchi had a bit of a panic attack when Yugi suddenly disappeared. There were several goons preventing him from reaching his pack mate.

Inside the room

Kaiba was pissed. Not only had the runt beaten him at a game he obsessed over to the point he was almost able to summon the monsters from the cards without passing out first, but the damphir had the audacity to feed from his neck as punishment for challenging his authority!

Damn vampires and their egos...worse than anything he could come up with on a bad day!

Ruby red eyes looked into his own Prussian blue, and he licked his lips of any stray droplets. He had already closed the wounds, but it was still mortifying as hell having a half-vampire feed from him.

"A dragon-kin? Why doesn't that surprise me," said Muto.

Kaiba glared at him.

"Shut up, you fanged asshole. I didn't give you permission to feed off of me!"

Muto's eyes laughed, and a quiet chuckle left his lips.

"Considering the stunt you pulled, this should make us even. Be glad I didn't feel like draining you dry for it."

Kaiba sneered at him.

"Just because you're half-vamp doesn't give you the right to act like an Old One. You have to subordinate to the Elders just the same as everyone else Muto. I hope they break you for it."

An odd look flashed across his eyes, one Kaiba couldn't read.

"We'll just see about that Kaiba," he replied.

Kaiba rubbed his neck where the runt had bitten him. His incredibly foul mood lasted for days.
