Chapter 2
"When I said you're going to help me, this wasn't what I pictured," Mai said as she knelt in front of Naruto who was snickering as he hid in his hiding spot.
"Nonsense, it's like hitting two birds with one stone," Naruto waved her off. "You get to confirm if anybody else can see you, while I get to go on a pranking spree. Win-win, right?"
"I don't know…" The girl in a bunny suit frowned still not convinced with the blonde's explanation. "This could backfire, you know."
"NARUTO!" A voice yelled in the background.
"See, I told you," Mai said shaking her head.
"Don't worry, only I know about this hiding spot," Naruto said smugly. "No one will ever–"
"I FOUND YOU!" The man from earlier said, this time right behind them.
Naruto turned to see a man of average height. He had brown hair tied in a ponytail, dark eyes, and a scar that runs across the bridge of his nose. For some reason, there were plugs on his nose
"Yo, Iruka-sensei!" Naruto greeted as if nothing happened. "How have you been?"
"Don't give me that, Naruto!" Iruka scolded. "What did I tell you about large-scale pranks?"
"Not to do them?" The blonde rubbed the back of his head.
"Then what is all this?" Iruka gestured to the entire chaos that was their school hallway.
"An accident?" Naruto tried to offer.
"Don't give me that," Iruka once again scolded. "You're not going home until you clean up the mess you made!"
"Fine! It's not like there's anyone waiting back at home anyway!" Naruto countered.
Iruka sighed. "If you do a good job in cleaning all of this, how about we go for some ramen later?"
"For real?" The blonde's features brightened. "All the toppings I want?"
"If you promise to be reasonable, then sure," was Iruka's condition to agree.
"All right!" The boy cheered.
GUIDANCE COUNSELOR'S OFFICE
Naruto sat on the chair listening to the counselor and Iruka speak with each other. Gone was the happy expression he had shown to Iruka the day before. The frown on his face had now returned.
The guidance counselor was a woman older than Iruka. She had light brown, pupilless eyes and brown hair that was tied into a bun by a red ribbon. Strands frame both sides of her face, hanging over her ears from behind them. She is fair-skinned, and slight wrinkles are visible near her mouth. Her attire consists of a dark teal elegant dress, which sports an aquamarine-colored gem below the collar. She reminds Naruto of one of her classmates.
Then, the door opened and a tall well-built man in a business suit. He had waist-length, spiky white hair that was tied in a ponytail with two long bangs framing his face. There were lines under his eyes that extended to the lower part of his face. Around the corners of his mouth were wrinkles and a wart was found on the left side of his nose showing his age.
"Good morning," The white-haired man greeted the people in the room as he entered.
"Ah, good morning. You must be Jiraiya-san, Uzumaki-kun's guardian," The guidance counselor greeted. "I'm sorry to be taking you away from your busy schedule."
"Yes, yes I am," The middle-aged man nodded. "I hear little Naruto was up to some shenanigans again?"
"Unfortunately, yes…" The counselor confirmed.
"Naruto, I told you to get your shit together," Jiraiya scolded.
"I don't want to hear that from someone who writes porn for a living," Naruto answered back in an emotionless tone.
"Th-that's not– I don't–" Jiraiya sputtered out when he saw the subtle look of disgust that the guidance counselor was giving him. He turned back to the blonde and began to scold. "Why you–"
"Jiraiya-san," The counselor addressed the long-haired man before a fight could ensue in her office. "I think you should sit down and listen to Naruto's case."
Taking one more look at his godson, The writer sighed and nodded.
–
"So, you see, Jiraiya san, Uzumaki-kun is probably doing this as a coping mechanism. He isn't getting the right amount of attention at home and he is mostly ignored at school," The guidance counselor explained.
"What do you suggest we do then?" Jiraiya asks.
"I believe a change in environment will be good for the child," The counselor explains. "As for the lack of attention alone, I believe the solution will work in conjunction with the change in environment. If what is keeping you away from him is due to work, then I suggest he moves along with you so he could be closer with you. That would mean he would transfer schools as well. That would be quite a hassle, but I believe that is what is best for young Naruto."
"I see," was all Jiraiya said before standing up. "Will that be all, Yamanaka-san?"
"I believe that's all I wanted to talk with you about," The counselor said.
"Then, I thank you for your work on my godson here," Jiraiya thanked her.
"Oh no, it's nothing," She shook her head. "We'll do anything to make sure our students are alright."
"Still I cannot thank you enough," Jiraiya bowed. "We'll be on our way then."
"You are very much welcome, sir," The counselor returned the bow. She then turned to Naruto. "Don't worry Naruto. It gets better. You and your godfather will work through it, okay?"
Naruto nodded.
"We'll be on our then, ma'am," Jiraiya said, turning to leave.
"Okay, take care," The counselor returned.
"Come on, brat," Jiraiya called, and Naruto followed him as they left.
They walked in silence. The older man contemplated on everything that was said to him in the room. They walked quite far from the school, even leaving the car in the parking lot. When Jiraiya was broken out of his thoughts, he found that he was in front of a convenience store.
"Wait here," Jiraiya told the boy and entered the store.
After the older man was finished inside, he rejoined his ward who was waiting outside. Walking close to the young blonde, he knelt in front of him. What surprised him was that Naruto was the first to speak out.
"Look, sorry, you had to come here just for me," He said. "Go back to that porn book you've been writing."
"I told you, gaki, that it isn't a porn book," Jiraiya raised his voice a bit. "You're just too young to appreciate art."
"Gee could have fooled me," The blonde rolled his eyes.
"Look, gaki, you are important to me too," Jiraiya said. "I promised Minato I would take care of you, but I ended up leaving you alone here. Work has just been quite hectic these days. I hope you could forgive me."
He raised the popsicle he bought in the store. It was that large popsicle that had two popsicles to hold. He broke it into two and gave the other the young boy.
He looked at the popsicle and up at the older man, remembering those times when he was younger, the times when he would do the same.
A small smile tugged at the boy's lips and took the popsicle.
Naruto sighed into his popsicle. "I have to go back to school now. The teachers might go looking for me again."
Jiraiya shook his head. "The thing is…right now, you don't have to.."
"You don't mean–" Naruto voiced his question.
"Yes, we're going to your new school!"
FAIRY HILLS ACADEMY
It was quite a long drive to get here.
Naruto stretched as he got out of the car to get the knots that had formed in his joints from the ride. When he got out of the car, he immediately noticed the difference between his old school and the new one. This building looked more like a castle rather than a school building. Everything just seemed fancier.
"Woah," Naruto said as he walked around the campus in awe.
"You like it, huh?" Jiraiya watched his charge with a smirk. "I'm getting a feeling that you'll have a good time here."
"I don't know…" Naruto looked down. "Will the students be different from my other school?"
"Don't worry," The perverted writer let out a hearty laugh. "I heard a lot of good things from this school while I stayed here. I'm sure the people here are going to be good to you."
"I-if you say so…" Naruto relented as his guardian's lead.
Walking through the halls, the duo found their way to the guidance counselor's office.
"G-greetings," A meek voice welcomed the two as they entered the room.
The counselor was a young woman with pink hair that reminded Naruto of one of his fangirl classmates. It was held into place by a headband with a design that looked like ram horns. Her clothes were white and made from sheep's wool.
As the two males entered the room, both stood there in amazement as they basked in the beauty of the young woman.
"Uh…P-please stop staring," She said looking away in embarrassment. "I-it's rude to stare."
Naruto was the first one to recover from his reaction. He looked up and saw that the older man was still staring at the gal with drool dripping from the sides of his open mouth.
Realizing the situation they were in, Naruto elbowed the white-haired writer in the ribs, the pain breaking him out of his stupor.
The older man turned to him shouting, "Ow! What was that for you brat?! That hurt!"
The blonde just gave him a deadpanned expression as he raised a finger pointing at the shy girl.
Regaining his composure, the old man cleared his throat and introduced himself, "My name is Jiraiya and this brat is Naruto. This little boy will be joining this school."
The counselor regained her composure, "Alright, you'll be taking an entrance exam so we can assess where you stand. Will that be okay?"
Naruto sighed and stood, "Fine. Let's get this over with."
FIRST DAY OF CLASS
Naruto entered the school with an extremely bored look on his face. He came into the school wearing his old school uniform. The tailor had to have a delay in making his uniform. Typical…he remembered this same thing happening when he entered his old high school.
Naturally, he was eyed by the rest of the class, the rest of the school even!. The stares didn't bother him. Sad to say, but he was used to it. Right now though, he just wanted to get to his class soon. He trusted his guardian with regards to the standing of the school, and the guidance counselor put in a good word for his soon-to-be classmates.
Well, for the most part…
As soon as Naruto entered the classroom, things immediately escalated quickly. Entering the door, he quickly the rope on the doorway. He saw that it was attached to a bucket which he assumed was filled with water, and ready to pour its contents once the unfortunate victim trips on the rope.
Not that he did not respect a good prank, but this? The old bucket prank? Please…He could think up a better prank than this once. Being a prankster himself, he saw through the prank and just stepped over the rope. He closed the door ignoring the noisy outburst of a noisy pink-haired student and made his way to a seat by the window and drifted off to sleep.
"Stupid blondie almost ruining my prank," the guy he assumed was the prankster grumbled to himself as he watched the stranger ignore him.
The prankster was a young man of average height with a slightly tan skin tone, black eyes, spiky pink-colored hair, and abnormally sharp canines. He was wearing a white polo shirt, grey striped pants, and black shoes, the school's official uniform. Instead of a blue striped tie like the others, he wore a white, scale-patterned scarf.
"Huh? Did you hear about a new student coming?" Another blonde spoke up as he watched the new guy.
He was a very tall young man, taller and bulkier than most of the males in his class. He had orange eyes and blonde hair that was slicked back with a lot of the spiky strands pointing backward. He had a scar that slashed over his right eye and dark circles surrounding both. He was wearing the same uniform as the prankster, but instead of a scarf, he wore a blue-stiped tie a little longer than the female's ties.
"I dunno," A white-haired beauty shrugged. "He looks kinda cute though."
The girl was a slim young woman of below-average height. She has long, white hair which curls slightly at the ends, with two bangs framing her face and reaching down to her chest. A small tuft of hair above her forehead was tied upwards by a small ponytail. She has large blue eyes and a curvy body, which was more developed than her fellow classmates. She wore a plain white short-sleeved blouse, a blue striped tie, and a grey striped skirt, the official school uniform for females.
"Hey, hey," The scarred blonde sitting next to her spoke up hearing the tone she used. "Don't get any ideas now."
"I wouldn't dream of it," The white-haired girl lied as she stared at the new student with interest.
"EVERYONE SHUT UP!" The prankster yelled as quietly as he could to his classmates to be silent.
The door slid open revealing the next person to enter. Unlike Naruto though, the next person to enter the classroom didn't see the rope. She tripped on the rope, which pulled on the mechanism tilting the bucket towards her spilling its contents.
"EEK!"
The poor prank victim shrieked as her whole body was splashed with water.
"HAHAHA!" The pink-haired prankster roared in laughter at the completed prank. "Serves you right Gray-baka!"
"ARGH!" The wet student stomped to the front of the classroom. "ALRIGHT! WHO'S THE WISE GUY WHO SET UP THE STUPID PRANK?!"
It turns out the unfortunate victim wasn't who Natsu believed it was. It was a girl! She had brown eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair It was tied in a small pink ponytail to the right side of her head with the rest of the hair loose. Just like Naruto, she too was wearing a different set of uniforms, and by the looks of it, her uniform seemed to come from those exclusive all-girls schools.
"Oi, you're not Gray!" That was the only response she got.
"What's the big idea ruining my prank?!" He loudly asked.
"No, what's YOUR big idea setting up a stupid prank before class starts?" The doused newcomer snapped back.
"Gee, what a mess…Did one of your silly pranks fail again, ya hothead?" A voice came from the doorway.
"Gray…" The pink-haired prankster growled upon hearing the new voice that came in.
He turned to the owner of the voice. It was a guy with spiky black hair and dark blue eyes who was wearing the same uniform as the prankster.
"Why'd you have to come late, you stripper?" he pointed accusingly at the newcomer. "This blonde bimbo was the one who caught in the prank meant for you!"
"Please Natsu, not even an idiot would fall for a silly prank like yours," The now named Gray spoke smugly.
"Hey! I'm not done with him yet!" The blonde female yelled. "And did you just call me an idiot?"
"Uhh, no miss! N-nothing like that–" Gray said waving his hands in front of him. Even he knew not to poke the hornet's nest of female anger.
Before things could escalate further, the door opened revealing their teacher. It was an extremely large man wearing a golden dress shirt under a black coat with a pair of symbols of the constellation Taurus on the front. He also wore black slacks and a pair of golden shoes.
The teacher entered the room holding a familiar orange book in his hands. He walked to the front with his eyes glued to the pages.
Naruto woke up just in time to see their teacher. Seeing the book in his hands, he slammed his palm to his head.
'Great, another fan of the Pervy Writer,' He thought to himself. He was in another school thinking he would leave everything behind, but here he was, seeing another perverted teacher reading his guardian's publication that is effectively porn.
The teacher cleared his throat catching the attention of the whole class. "Ahem, settle down everyone."
Closing his book, he sighed at the sight of another of Natsu's silly pranks. "Natsu, what did I tell you about pranking your classmates?"
"What's in it to you?!" Natsu looked away, not really respecting the teacher at all.
"We wouldn't want Principal Dreyar hearing about this incident now would we?" The teacher clad in black said not fazed by the disrespect. "Need I remind you of the last time that something this was brought to his attention?"
Almost all the class paled at the mention of the punishment. Not all of them did though, the new students, Naruto, and the prank victim looked around at their new classmates' reaction. The girl seemed nervous and wondered what horror did the recipients of the punishment at to go through for the class to earn this kind of reaction. Naruto, on the other hand, just looked at them curiously. He dealt with these situations before, so it couldn't be as big of a deal as the others deem it to be.
Natsu, upon hearing the threat, immediately grabbed a mop and cleaned up the mess he made and sat down on his chair immediately after.
"Okay, before we start, I'm sure you've noticed that our school had received quite the number of new students lately, a school record in fact," The teacher began.
The older students murmured excitedly about the prospect of new faces in their school.
He continued. "And, our class is fortunate enough to be joined by those new students, two of them."
Reading the name cards that he held, he called on the students, "Let's start with Mr. Uzumaki. Please come in front of the class and introduce yourself."
Naruto sighed like it was the most troublesome thing in the world but ultimately walked in front. He faced the class and began his introduction.
"Good Morning, My name is Uzumaki Naruto, I like all kinds of ramen but I especially like the Pork Miso Chasu Ramen that Iruka-sensei gets me after school," His eyes lit up as he narrated.
His eyes then turn dark, "I hate the people who read that Pervy Writer's book in public. I mean, do you even have any shame left in your bodies?!"
His new classmates looked at him in silence at his sudden outburst. He noticed this and cleared his throat. "Right, sorry about that. Oh yeah, and I hate the three minutes I have to wait whenever I make instant ramen."
"And my dreams for the future…" His voice trailed off. "I don't know…I haven't thought about that yet…"
"Wait a second! That way of introduction…" One of the students suddenly spoke up. "I recognize it! Are you from Konoha Academy?"
"Woah!"
"For real?!"
"Do you know places to go there?"
"Why'd you transfer?!"
The class erupted in chaos. A lot of questions were thrown at the blonde scaring him a bit. They must have been excited about having a new classmate.
The teacher noticed this the new student's reaction and cleared his throat silencing the class. "Alright class, that's enough. May I call on our other new student? Ms. Hearfilia, please introduce yourself to your new classmates.
"Did you hear that?"
"Sensei said Heartfilia right?"
"Then she's probably stinking rich!"
"Oh shit! Natsu pissed her off!"
"We're toast!"
The class broke down to murmuring amongst themselves as they heard her family name. Everyone in Japan knew of that name. It was one of the most prestigious families in the country along with the Shinomiya and Nakano families. You would have to be living under a rock to not know these names.
Lucy sighed as she walked to the front. She hated being known because of his father's prestige. It wasn't like he acted like a father to her anyway.
"Uh…g-greetings," She stuttered out as she stood meekly in the front of the class. "M-my name is Lucy, and I hail from the prestigious all-girls academy, the Black Rose. I-it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"She really did come from the All-girls Academy!"
More of the murmurs came. Naruto just looked at his classmates and shook his head. They almost reminded him of his noisy classmates. But a smile crept its way into his lips. At least now, he wasn't as ignored. Perhaps now…things would be different.
The bell rang signaling the start of lunch break. The students all filed out of the room eager to get to the cafeteria and have their fill of lunch or just eager to get out of class in general.
Naruto walked on the halls alone as usual. He heard the whispers mostly from females who were gossiping about him. Well, this was the first time that other people were looking in his direction. He could also hear giggles from the ladies.
He froze with that thought. "No way. Are those…fangirls?"
He knew of those rabid fans that would swoon over whoever they had a crush on and cause fights when they argued who would end up with them. Gosh, was he turning to another Sasuke? 'Oh no, I hope not," He thought as he stopped at his locker to stow away the books he was carrying.
When he was done, he closed the door. As he did, he was surprised to see his classmate.
"Oh, greetings," Lucy greeted giving a small curtsy, the way she was used to in her old school. "My what a mighty stroke of fate that we would be given then lockers in close proximity, like this."
Naruto sweatdropped at her manner of speaking, "Uhm, you know you're not in your old school, right? You could lighten up now that you're here? I actually prefer it that way…"
"My apolo…I mean, I'm sorry," Lucy bowed. "It's just that I haven't gotten used to talking to other people yet."
"No worries," Naruto waved off her apology. "So, you're a loner too, huh?"
Lucy shook her head. "It's not by choice. You see—"
"Lucy-hime!"
A chill ran up the blonde girl's spine as she heard the voice.
'N-no…' She thought as she stiffly turned around to see who it was.
"EEP!" Lucy jumped. Her worst fears had been realized.
The newcomer was a maid with shackles around her wrists for some reason. She had short pink hair and blue eyes. She wore a black under coat and a white, frilled-trim apron and white knee-length socks with black Mary Jane shoes.
"Lucy-hime, you forgot your lunch," The maid said as soon as she found her. "Oh, I was not aware that Lucy-hime already had a boyfrie—"
"AHHHH!" Lucy jumped when she heard what her maid was about to say. "You would have to forgive Virgo for that one." She said giving Naruto an awkward smile. "She just says the most outrageous things. I have to go…"
She turned on her heel pushing the maid out of the school all the while saying, "I told you not to follow me to school!"
"Wow, she really is rich!" Naruto heard coming from the other lockers.
"Yeah, I know,"
The blonde shook his head at the encounter and continued his way to the cafeteria.
Upon getting there, he stood on queue contemplated on what to order. It took a considerable amount of time to get to the front. Naturally, it was a school, so there were a lot of students.
Time flew past when you were listening to music.
"What it'll be," The server asked.
"Udon, 2 shrimp, squid, sweet potato and a pudding for dessert," Naruto ordered.
"Huh, are you two connected or something?" The server joked as he went on to get the food.
"What do you mean?" Naruto asked and turned to his right.
The girl beside him looked at him oddly, "Are you copying me?"
A/N: Now, if you watched a bunch of anime, the names I placed here. It's one of the reasons why I named this fic World's Collide.
