A/N: Been wanting to write this for awhile.
Ron's p.o.v during his fight with Hermione, after the Yule Ball.
Hope you enjoy.
Around 300 words... please don't be angry at me with how short it is.
Should've asked her:
"Love means never having to say you are sorry."
Erich Segal.
Hermione, Ron decided, had never looked as angry as she looked right now.
Hermione looked very very angry.
Yet Ron did not think she was being very fair.
He was right after all;
Hermione should not have gone to the Yule Ball with Viktor Krum.
But for some irrational and undoubtedly female reason, Hermione was of the opinion that her accompanying Krum to the ball was perfectly acceptable.
But really, Ron thought, as he watched Hermione grow angrier and angrier with him, this was just stupid.
Hermione's voice cracked like a whip through Ron's inner musings.
"Next time there's a ball, ask me before someone else does, and not as a last resort!"
... What did she just say!
But she was already storming away.
Ron turned hurriedly, and looked at Harry.
Harry looked back at Ron, green eyes wide in surprise and eyebrows raised in question.
"Well, well-that just proves-completely missed the point..." Ron choked out;
He had to say something.
Harry just nodded quietly, and followed along as Ron clambered up the staircase and into their dorm.
Seamus wasn't there, but Dean was climbing into his bed, and Neville was already asleep.
With a quick glance that was almost sympathetic, Harry murmured goodnight to Ron, and disappeared behind his hangings.
Ron sat down on his own bed and scowled down at his hands, clenched tightly in his lap, for a long time.
Ron couldn't sleep that night.
He was too angry.
He was too appalled.
He was too... dare he say it?
...Hurt...
He really really really should have asked her...
But by the time morning broke, he had come to what he thought was a very smart conclusion; next time there was a ball, he would ask her before someone else did, and not as a last resort.
Fin.
Hope you enjoyed.
