12. Chapter 12 The First Mission

Chapter 12. The First Mission

(With Naruto)

Standing outside his bookstore with a calm expression, Naruto glanced out the corner of his eye to his twin sister. The latter of whom merely looked up at the store sign with emotions that Naruto couldn't properly gauge. Though considering his sister was resurrected for the second time, Naruto figured there was plenty enough going through her mind at the moment. However, after a brief moment of standing out in the dark Naruto eventually grew tired of the silence.

"So what do you think?" The oldest of the pair asked, while their eyes slowly looked upon one another.

"It's sweet, but I really don't feel like Mito anymore. I mean I have all my memories from when we were kids and I know that I am Mito Namikaze without a question. It's just- . . ."

"You've gone by Terra for so long now that it's become your true identity. Though I would argue even that is too simply, as your identity of Mito and Terra are struggling with one another and you hardly know who you really are anymore. Are you the sweet girl who lost her family? Or the trained tool manufactured by Slade Wilson?"

"You're exactly right, but how do you know all that?"

Naruto merely looked forward and frowned. "You're not the only one struggling to remember who you are. Personally I don't even know who I am anymore. Am I Naruto Namikaze, a child looking to avenge his family? Or am I Thaelab, an assassin that kills on command? Perhaps I'm the Black Fox, another vigilante out to deliver his own views of justice on the corruption in this world? So trust me when I say that I understand what you're going through."

"I see." The younger twin mumbled softly, while slowly looking down to the concrete sidewalk. "Well if anything I know one thing. We are twins and that's a bond that can't be broken and an identity we can never lose. So for now why don't we try being Terra and Naruto Quinn?"

"So you wanna go by Terra along with mom's criminal persona?"

"Why not? You've been doing it for awhile now. Besides, like I said earlier I do feel more like Terra than Mito. So why not try something new?"

Naruto cracked a small smile and draped his arm around Terra's shoulder. "As long as I have my baby sister I'll do whatever."

Laughing Terra leaned into her brother. "I always hated when you called me your baby sister. You're only two minutes older after all, but it's refreshing to see some things really haven't changed."

"Yeah." Naruto replied softly, while walking forward and opening the door to the shop. "But why don't we head inside and meet with everyone else?"

"Okay." Terra began as she was the first of the twins to enter the shop, but found nothing besides books waiting for her. "So this is your base of operations?"

Walking into the shop and locking the door behind him, Naruto shrugged his shoulders. "Kinda, this is more of my cover story as Naruto Quinn the teenager in hiding. Upstairs is a large living complex where everyone lives, but there is a hidden elevator in the main office that leads to our actual base of operations."

"Pretty convenient to have all three of those so close together." Terra commented in an impressed voice. "Seems you know how to run things fairly well."

Naruto laughed and waved his sister off, while leading the girl towards his hidden elevator. "You can thank mom for all of this. After all this was her doing not mine. Her amount of planning and foresight goes to show why she is the biggest crime boss in Gotham. The woman's so smart it's actually frightening at times."

Terra laughed and walked into the hidden elevator with her brother. "Well Mom and Dad were always very smart, but it seems those family smarts skipped me and you just a little bit."

Riding down the elevator Naruto shrugged his shoulders. "To be fair most kids grew up learning their multiplication tables and how to spell. I grew up learning how many ways you can kill someone with a box cutter. . . The answers is thirteen by the way fourteen if you count technicalities."

Terra sighed and simply nodded her head. "My education mainly focused on espionage and combat. So I never really got much of an opportunity to expand my knowledge or practice problem solving skills outside figuring out how to take out an enemy quickly."

"Our lives really did take quite drastic turns, but they got us to where we are today. So I can't really complain too much, as it could always be worse."

"That's a rather interesting outlook on how our lives have turned out. Here I figured you would despise the hand we've been dealt so far."

Naruto folded his arms and closed his eyes. "I'm by no means okay with how our lives have been, but I don't like to dwell on the what if's in life. Our Dad died all those years ago and it broke our Mom, made me into a killing machine and you were brainwashed into a spy for a madman. Despite that I cannot say our lives would have been better if that night never happened. What I can say is that from this moment on we can control our future and ensure we are never at the hands of someone else. We will forge our own path on our terms and nobody else's."

Terra looked up to her brother with awe, as she admired his resolve to keep pushing forward. However, as the elevator stopped both twins were met with the sight of their team and mother. All of whom were spread throughout the room at different stations, but all had their eyes on the two.

"Puddin cups! Took you two long enough!" Harley scolded in a rather upbeat tone. "Here I thought you two went off and got into some trouble."

"I wanted to show Terra around and have some personal time with my baby sister." Naruto replied back in a casual voice.

"Oh so you're going by Terra now?" Harley chirped in an interested tone.

"Yes I hope you're okay with that."

Harley walked forward and brought her daughter into a hug. "I don't care what you call yourself. No matter what you're my little puddin cup and that with never change! I will always love you no matter what."

Terra smiled and hugged her mother back. "Thanks Mom. I love you too."

Naruto grinned at the moment between his family, but the situation was short lived as Shikamaru cleared his throat.

"This is great and all, but we should focus up. We now have the team Slade wanted us to place together. However, now we have to wait for him to contact us on what he actually wants from us. Meaning we have some time to try and think of counter measures against him."

"Shika is right." Naruto mumbled softly, while he folded his arms. "Currently that bastard holds way too many cards in his favor and we don't know what he's after. We can't go off acting rash, as any poor thought or plan could bite us in the ass."

"So what are you thinking Shika?" Artemis asked.

"I'm still working on a plan." The teen admitted.

"Well I know what we need to do." Harley spoke up, which earned all eyes on her. "That being for now you will train and wait for Slade's orders. I mean it's rather simple when you think about it. Slade has you five in a rather tight corner and we don't know his objective, which means we are dealing with a large lack of information. However, once we learn what he's after we can better formulate our plans around his. Then the moment his guard is down we strike him down."

"So we play nice until we can shift the odds in our favor? I'm fine with that." Jason admitted.

Naruto nodded. "It's the best course of action and we are a newly formed team. So some training would benefit us greatly. Especially since Terra isn't familiar with any of our skill sets. What do you think baby sis?"

Terra frowned. "I'm not the biggest fan of Slade and I don't have to tell you why. I'm certainly not thrilled about working for him again, but if doing so ends in his downfall. Well then I am all for it and I'll use my powers to help you all the best I can!"

Naruto smiled wide and placed his hands into his pockets. "I'm glad to hear that sis and I'm excited to practice some sibling combos with our powers!"

Terra looked genuinely surprised at her brother. "Wait you have powers too? I didn't know you had powers! I thought I was the only one!"

Harley laughed and got all eyes on her. "Puddin cup you shouldn't be so surprised that your twin has powers too. You both inherited the meta gene from your father and since you were little you and Naruto both showed signs of powers. Boy that sure was a hassle too! I mean Naruto would always lose his temper and short out the house's electricity. Then there was a time you threw a tantrum over a toy and caused a sinkhole in the middle of a parking lot. You wouldn't believe how hard it was for me and you Dad to keep your powers hidden from everyone including yourselves. I mean we were gonna tell ya when you were a little older, but never got the chance."

"I never knew that." Terra mumbled softly, while she looked to her brother.

"Yeah well surprise! Though I'm not like you. My powers only control wind and electricity not the earth."

"Can you control them?" Terra asked.

Naruto laughed and rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah I'm starting to get a grasp on them, but that is only with Shika's help. When I first started out I sucked!"

"That's how I was!"

Harley giggled and held her cell phone to her face. "Well this is has been wonderful, but Ivy just finally got away from the Titans and wants to meet up. So I'm gonna go see her. I'll be back later, but anyone need anything while I'm out?"

Naruto folded his arms. "For my mom to not get arrested while she is gone is a good request."

Harley blew out some air and laughed. "Oh I won't be stirring up any trouble Puddin. Have some faith in your young smokin hot mom! Well then again it would be pretty fun to have your little girlfriend chase me around!"

"Oh for the love of God please don't." Naruto groaned in exhaustion. "I really want to lay low with the Titans, which is already hard being your son and dating Raven. Also things will be even more tense with Terra's disappearance from their tower."

"Plus Dick will be super on edge with the secret message I left him!" Jason laughed loudly, while slapping his leg.

"And don't get me started on that. . . You really had to leave something to poke fun at him didn't you?"

"Of course!"

Artemis lifted her brow in confusion. "Wait what did the meathead do?"

Jason chuckled and stood upright. "Well Princess, lets just say I used my little knowledge of Dick's real identity to have a little fun!"

(Titans Tower)

Robin was practically trembling in anger, while his team were circled around him. However, his fellow Titans had very different emotions and expressions. Cyborg along with Beast Boy were rather surprised and slightly on edge. Starfire bore a rather worried expression on her face and had the majority of her attention directed at Robin. Finally Raven showed next to now emotions or reaction, but that was rather normal for the girl.

Though the scene that had the team of young heroes in such a state was of course the message Jason had left for Robin. A message that was not only an insult, but directly called the teenager out by name and left no indication of who left it.

"Cyborg, what does the security cameras show?" Robin asked in a low and frustrated voice, while the mechanical teen began to type on his arm.

"Nothing Rob, everything went dark a few hours ago and hasn't been rebooted since. Though it seems whoever closed our system down did it with extreme ease. I mean there is no evidence of any sort of outside interference. Whoever did this hacked our systems without well doing much hacking at all."

"Beast Boy you and Raven search the tower and see if our intruders have done anything. Star I want you to fly around the island and see if you spot anything." Robin instructed in a firm voice.

Beast Boy morphed into a bloodhound and began to sniff the area, while Raven merely sunk into the wall with her abilities. Starfire on the other hand lingered over for a second, as she could tell her leader was furious. She wanted to comfort the boy, but she knew at this moment the best thing she could do was search the island. So by lowering her head in defeat she flew off to fly around the tower.

Being left alone Cyborg continued to tap on the computer built into his arm, while Robin tired to use all his detective skills on the message. Trying his hardest to figure out just who did this and for what purpose.

"I know you're upset Rob, I mean whoever did this broke into our home and called you out by your actual name." Cyborg began in a serious voice. "But we can't lose our heads and act irresponsibly. We already did that with Raven's boyfriend and she still hasn't forgiven us."

"That's it! You said our system were practically hacked from the inside. Well who was the only person outside of our team that's recently been in the tower!" Robin began, which made Cyborg frown.

"Rob I see where you're going with this and you should stop right now. Rae is just now starting to slowly come back around to us after we arrested her boyfriend, which resulted in him revealing his true identity to the world. Let's not do this again and push her away for good."

"It just makes sense-. . ."

"No Rob, no it doesn't. Just drop it and leave the guy alone."

"Buts he's Harley Quinn's-. . ."

"What? He's Harley Quinn's son?" The cold and emotionless voice of of Raven pierced through the air. Resulting in both Cyborg and Robin turning to the teenager in shock, as she was slowly approaching both boys.

"Raven I uh." Robin began slowly, while the tension in the air began to rise.

"Go ahead Robin, say it." The hooded hero challenged, as her eyes momentarily flashed red for a millisecond.

"Friends I didn't find any. . . thing." Starfire declared in a slow and confused voice, as she returned to the scene developing. "Friends is something wrong."

"Yeah something is wrong and it's all your leaders fault." Raven began as her voice held a large amount of venom. "And I've had enough I'm q-"

"Guys!" Beast Boy screamed in a desperate voice, which momentarily paused the potential blow up. Meanwhile everyone turned to see the green teenager running to the group. "Guys it's Terra!"

At that moment the mood switched and everyone looked at Beast Boy with confusion. Who obviously seemed to be in absolute disarray and obviously needed a moment to gather his composure.

"What's wrong BB?" Cyborg asked in a calm voice.

"She's gone guys! Terra is gone!" Beast Boy cried out, while clenching his fists together. "I don't know who, but someone has taken Terra from us!"

Each member of the Titans was too stunned to even speak. First their city was attacked by the Gotham villain Poison Ivy, which was strange. However, now they had learned that remains one of their former members had been stolen. A series of events that left the team in complete silence and shook.

"Damnit!" Beast Boy finally yelled, as he collapsed to the ground and began to punch the floor. "I lost her again!"

"Beast Boy." Raven mumbled softly, as she for a moment let go of her anger and rested a hand on her firmed to comfort him. "I'm sorry."

(Outlaw's HQ, the next day)

"So how long are they going to keep at it?" Terra asked with bewilderment, while she watched her twin and Jason exchange blows in hand to hand combat.

Lazaily flipping through a magazine and sparing no attention to her teammates, Artemis shrugged. "Who knows. All those two meatheads do is work out and spar. I try to avoid getting caught up in their antics. It's best if you just take a seat and ignore them."

Hearing a loud impact followed by a grunt of pain, Terra kept her eyes on Artemis. "But shouldn't we be training too? I mean we need to stay in good shape."

"You're right, but I won't be training with those two anytime soon. They are literally the worst. Besides, I figured you would be wanting to find ways to get out of this place. Being a dead girl twice over you really can't go around in public. If I was in your shoes I'd be going mad from boredom."

Terra nodded. "Being essentially on unofficial house arrest has been quite annoying I won't lie, but as someone who has died twice it does beat being dead."

Glancing off her magazine and to Shikamaru, who was silently typing on a computer, Artemis smirked. "Well I saw Shika making you a new costume. So at least when we go out as a team you'll get some freedom."

"Yeah you do have a point, but even with a mask once people see my powers in public some will start to suspect that I'm alive. Especially the Titans if they figure out I am no longer in their little memorial."

Artemis nodded. "Yeah that's true. Has Naruto mentioned anything from Raven about you being missing?"

"No she hasn't mentioned anything to Naruto and he really can't ask her since that would draw a few questions. So as of now we don't know if they figured out I'm no longer in the tower."

"Yeah I guess that does place us in an awkward situation."

"For sure, this resurrection thing isn't all it's cracked up to be."

Both blond's shared a light hearted laugh, but that was short lived the moment Shikamaru stood to his feet.

"Guys I just got a message from Slade!"

Naruto stopping his spar with Jason grabbed a towel to wipe his sweat and walked over to Shikamaru. "What's the message?"

"It's a video recording." The genius of the team explained.

"Well let's play it!" Jason purposed, as the entire team began to gather around Shikamaru.

"Yeah, yeah I'm on it." Shikamaru grumbled before clicking the play button, which resulted in a video of Slade to appear on the monitor.

"I believe I've given you five enough time to recollect yourselves. So now it's time you start being of use to me." Slade began slowly, which caused a majority of the group to frown in anger. "Your mission is very simple. I want you five to travel to Metropolis City where a Dr. Anthony Ivo has his laboratory set up. You're to infiltrate the lab, steal his research, destroy his lab and kill him. You have three days and failure will result in well I'm sure you five know what I'm capable of. Perform as I expect you will and I'll share more I know about the people responsible for that night eleven years ago."

With that said the video cut off and the group remained silent for a moment, but as Naruto glared at the computer he eventually turned his body and walked towards his suit.

"Let's gear up team." The blond leader began, while reaching for his suit. "We will complete Slade's little task, as finding the research he wants will help us figure out his endgame and how to do away with him."

Jason walked to his own gear and sighed. "We also better prepare for the worst. Metropolis is the big guy in blue's turf after all."

Shikamaru sighed and stood to his feet. "I've already formulated seven alternate plans to deal with him if the situation calls for it."

Artemis laughed and grabbed her bow and quiver. "Always the schemer Shika, but I guess it never hurts to be prepared."

"It's troublesome, but someone has to do it." Shikamaru began, while tapping on a wrist gadget. Causing a small case to open for everyone to see. "It's a good thing I also planned to get Terra's new uniform finished as soon as possible."

Looking at the newly designed suit, Terra smiled softly and looked to her team. "Let's do this Outlaws."

There was a nod of agreement from the rest of the team and everyone began to silently collect there gear. Leaving Naruto alone with his own thoughts while his eyes reflected off his sword.

'Metropolis huh?' The blond thought to himself as he felt a pit in his stomach slowly grow. 'Never thought I'd go back there.'

(With Raven)

Moaning in annoyance Raven turned onto her side and shifted in her covers. Moving in a way that shifted her upper body and caused her hair to fall over her face. Normally Raven wouldn't pay any attention to movements like these, but something felt off. So moving upwards Raven lifted a hand to her hair realizing the length now cascade well past her shoulders and overlapped her breasts. The latter of which looked almost a whole cup size larger than before. Both clear signs that something wasn't right with Raven.

"What the?" Raven mumbled, as she finally began to check her surroundings. Noticing she was no longer within her room in Titans Tower.

Instead Raven was in what appeared to be a rather plain looking bed with a window that was closed off by some curtains. However, a small amount of sunlight was peeking out from the edges.

"Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos!" Raven chanted softly, which caused her powers to pull back the curtains revealing a city on the other side of the window. "Well at least my powers are working like normal."

Now with light fully illuminating the bedroom Raven was able to notice another key feature of her surroundings. That being the bed she was in had an obvious spot for a second person that was currently empty. This sent shivers down Raven's spine as she began to think the the endless scenarios that that could mean.

"Just what is going on and where am I? Raven mumbled softly, while she slid out of bed and approached the window. Then as she drew closer her eyes grew wide in shock as she got a glimpse of her reflection in the window.

Noticing she was dressed in an oversized white shirt that covered her body along with a pair of black shorts. However, her clothing wasn't what caused alarm. Instead it was her body, which didn't look like the sixteen year old version of herself. Not only did Raven's hair and breasts grow, but her entire body from head to toe looked more akin to a woman well approaching her thirties.

"Is that a wrinkle?" Raven shouted in shock, which caused her to clamp her mouth. Since she was trying to be silent due to her situation.

Though to Raven's surprise a loud female laugh sounded off in the distance.

"Sounds like she's starting already Dad!" The voice proclaimed, while another slightly familiar voice spoke up.

"Now be nice. You know how much she is dreading her big." The voice then got slightly quieter, almost as if the man speaking didn't want Raven to hear him. "Three-o birthday."

The two voices then bust out into laughter, which of course caused Raven to swell with confusion. So stepping forward with confidence and curiosity, Raven left the bedroom and quickly found herself heading into a rather large loft. Where she could see a rather muscular blond setting at a fully set breakfast table with a much smaller blond haired girl. However, Raven knew instantly who the man at the table was.

"N-Naruto?" Raven muttered in shock, as she was looking at the grown version of her boyfriend. Who looked older with his short spiky hair and his small facial hair stubble, while his muscles seemed much larger and more defined than they were before.

"Good morning pretty bird." Naruto greeted in a voice that caused Raven's heart to skip a beat. Though before she could even gather her thoughts Naruto stood to his feet and walked over to plant a kiss on her lips.

"Gross! Get a fucking room you two." The young girl spat out, which caused Naruto to groan and turn to the girl.

"Harlynn Pamela Quinn you know that you're not to repeat the words your grandma shares with you! If you don't stop I won't allow you to visit her or your Godmother for a whole month!" Naruto scolded, as he pointed at the girl who was now visibly pouting.

"That's not fair, Gran Har and Aunty Ivy are way more fun than you two. They actually let me do stuff."

"For one they are both criminals and two I'm still mad that they named you without I or your mothers permission."

Harlynn rolled her eyes. "Dad that was twelve years ago and it wasn't their fault. I came early and you were away with important stuff and Mom was knocked out from giving birth. Gran Har and Aunty Ivy did what they had to do as the only ones there ready to name me."

"They could have waited for me or your mother to actually name you!"

"Man you're still holding a grudge against your own mom for all these years. Even though my own mom aka your wife told me she was okay with them naming me." Harlynn revealed, which caused Naruto to twitch. "But let's change the topic. Are you still gonna take me out for shooting practice?"

Naruto grumbled and folded his arms. "That's all up to your Mom. After all she may have plans for the three of us."

Clapping her hands together and smiling wide, Harlynn looked to Raven with wide eyes. The latter of whom was a little taken back. "Please Mom can me and Dad go out from some shooting practice? I promise we won't take too long and we would be back with time to do any bor- I mean fun family stuff you have planned like meditation or whatever!"

"Wait what do you mean shooting? I thought you hated guns." Raven stopped and pointed directly at Naruto, as she knew by her boyfriend's past he disliked guns due to the shooting that tore his family apart.

Naruto looked visually confused. "I don't like guns, but Harlynn isn't talking about that. You know that right?"

Raven was silent, but her so called daughter laughed. "Yeah Mom what's wrong? You know that me and Dad always shoot bows and if you let me go today is the day I beat you old man!"

Being taken away from Raven, Naruto scoffed. "Please you're decades away from out doing your old man with a bow! How many times have I out shot you by now?"

"That's only because you're super old and cheat!" Harlynn argued loudly, which caused both father and daughter to glare at each other.

"I don't cheat! You're just a sore loser like your grandma!"

"Whatever cheater!"

"Sore loser!"

"Cheater!"

"Loser!"

Raven watching the back and forth recoiled back and started to laugh, as she enjoyed the small exchange between the pair. The latter of whom stopped insulting each other and turned to Raven.

"Hey what's so funny Mom?" Harlynn asked with a lighthearted laugh.

Raven waved her hands around and smiled. "I'm just happy that's all."

"Well you shouldn't be." Harlynn began, as four red eyes and a twisted smile appeared on her face. "After all you'll never get the happiness you desire."

Raven stepped back in fear, but was stopped by Naruto who had a firm grasp on her arms. Meanwhile his demonic grin and red eyes looked right into her own.

"I'll take everything from you." Naruto declared, but his voice was not his own. "I'll take your dreams, your happiness and your future! Your only purpose for existing is to serve ME!"

"No get away from me! Get away!" Raven yelled in defiance, but found herself completely trapped.

"Stop running from your destiny daughter and play the role you were born to carry out!"

"NO!" Raven screamed before forcing her eyes shut. Then by thrashing about she struggled and tried to resist the pressure that was slowly smothering her.

"You won't keep defying me for long child. I'll break you along with everything you hold close soon enough."

With that being declared the voice vanished and the pressure over Raven lifted. Causing the teenager to jerk upright in a fit is shallow breathing. Realizing she was now awake and within her room inside the Titans Tower.

"It was just another nightmare." Raven told herself, as she was practically trembling in fear. "But this time it felt more real than before.

Slowly pulling her legs to her chest, Raven tried to calm herself. However, she was an absolute mess and couldn't even steady her breathing. So reaching to her side she grabbed her cell phone and noticed it was six in the morning, but she wasn't trying to tell the time. No instead she wanted to hear the voice of the only person who she knew could help her.

However, as Raven dialed the number for Naruto's cellphone she waited in silence only to ultimately be left on voicemail. Considering Naruto didn't answer her call, which was odd considering the boy always picked up the phone no matter the circumstance. Though this caused Raven to flip through her phone and notice a number she had never seen before. So with a small hint of curiosity Raven pressed the number, which was titled Mom.

Then to Raven's surprise the phone picked up instantly, while a voice she knew right away spoke up.

"Doll you finally decided to call! I'm so glad!"

"H-Harley?" Did you sneak your number in my phone?"

"You know it!" Harley giggled on the other end. "Also call me Mom! After all one day you'll be marrying my little puddin I just know it!"

Raven was a little embarrassed by Harley's boldness, but it did help distract her nerves. "Well speaking of Naruto, I tried to get ahold of him just now."

"But he didn't pick up? That's expected doll. See Puddin left for an important business meeting earlier for the family company and I think he forgot his phone in his rush." Harley lied in a rather simple voice, as that was the cover story for Naruto's mission for Slade. "You don't need anything do ya sweetie?"

"No I just wanted to talk to Naruto about some things." Raven admitted in a dry voice.

Harley hummed on the other end. "You sound depressed doll. You know what I'm still in town so why don't we meet up for lunch and you can talk with me!"

"Oh that's not needed-. . ."

"Sure it is! I'll text you the time and place and we will have a blast!" Harley declared loudly, while she laughed to herself. "We can talk about fun stuff like baby names for my grandkids!"

Then without a chance to argue Harley hung up, which left Raven in silence. "Naruto I don't know what you're doing, but I think I just got pulled into a date with your mom."

Hopefully the next one will come out "soon" and we can get to Naruto's first mission for Slade, Raven's lunch date with Harley and slowly draw ever closer to the big climax of the first Arc of this story!
