Inferno
Blazing flames and thick smoke filled the sit to the very brim. Building rubble, debris and dust stretched as far as the eye can see. The pulverized plateau consumed any hope of calm and tranquility. It resembled the aftermath of a nuclear bomb, leaving nothing left in its wake.
In the middle of the carnage stood a young, frail boy. His T-shirt and slim jeans were blackened by the smoke and tainted by flames. The orange in his hair became brown under a blanket of ash. Despite being consumed by hopelessness, he began to walk forward, shaking like a baby deer. Squinting with his golden eyes, the boy stopped before a tower of dark mass. At its pinnacle, a red and black orb.
The abyssal sphere cackled and seethed. Out of the entire city, the orb's tower was the only thing left standing.
'This dream- it's… familiar. I'm back here again.'
"Shirou…"
Shirou stopped, flinching in horror as the orb called to him. It's rough voice made sandpaper seem smooth, menacing none the less.
"Shirou…" It repeated.
A chill fired down his spine. Why was this thing calling out to him? What did it want? More importantly, how did the orb know his name? Shirou refused to accept this fate.
"Yo. Shirou. Wake up, Shirou!"
Shirou slowly opened his eyes, squinting from the bright light.
The person in question of this experience was none other than Shirou Emiya. A fix-it genius and mage-in training. He also used to be an archery legend around his school, until an injury put him out of commission for good. Two large shadows casted themselves over Shirou, alerting him that he was not alone in the room.
One of the shadows turned out to be a tall, muscular man; built like a giant compared to most people. His stylish school outfit, a major key feature, made them immediately recognizable to Shirou. Of course, how could he forget that well tamed and styled pompadour hairstyle?
Josuke Higashikata.
He smirked at Shirou, kneeling down to him.
"Oi Oi, I'm going to count to 3 before I sit on you. We have school you know!" Josuke watched Shirou grimace. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to strike, he stood up and began to lower himself onto Shirou. "3… 2…1!"
"I'm up! I'm up! Mercy!" Shirou shouted. He pushes against Josuke's back to prevent himself from getting sat on.
"Oh really? You still seem pretty sleepy, Shirou! You can't stop the train once it's left the station ya know!" Josuke grinned, pushing back to try and sit on his friend. It was never too early for a good practical joke.
A small giggle arose from the third person with Shirou and Josuke. It came from a small purple haired girl with maroon ribbons in her hair, complimenting her violet eyes. She laughed with a hand over her mouth, before resting it under her large chest.
"S-Sakura-chan?" Shirou gasped.
"Good morning, Senpai." She responded playfully.
Despite staying with the Higashikata-Emiya family for over a year, the boys always knew how to make her feel like she had been family for a lifetime.
In the middle of the boys fussing around, Sakura held a small tray of breakfast for Shirou. "I brought you breakfast, Senpai, since you passed out in the shed again."
"Again, Shirou. Take note Shirou how she said 'again'." Josuke teased.
Shirou had enough. He wasn't going to let his best friend just sit on him! It was too early for this! In a final attempt to save himself, Shirou extended his arm out and pulled Josuke to the ground with a-
BOOF!
"Woah!" Josuke yelped.
CRASH!
Suddenly, the sound of shattering of dishes grabbed both of the boys attention. Sakura remained still, shocked like she had just seen a ghost. Shirou's extended arm, from flipping Josuke, revealed a weird marking on his hand. But, that was the least of their worries as Josuke feared he was the cause of the breakfast disaster.
"Shit! Sakura-chan! Is everything ok? I hope I didn't knock over the dishes being an idiot again. I'm sorry!"
"Again, take note how you said 'again', Josuke." Shirou sat up, sighing at the mess. Despite the sour turn of events, he still snuck his fair share of teasing Josuke.
"I- I need to go get ready-." Sakura scurried back to the house in a suspicious haste.
"W-Wait! Sakura-chan!" The pompadour teen yelled.
When anything broke around the Higashikata-Emiya household there were always two people to fix it. Josuke and Shirou. Shirou was able to fix practical problems and most pieces of tech. But other stuff that was deemed 'unfixable', was left to the 'magic' abilities of Josuke Higashikata.
"Don't worry, I got this." Josuke looked both ways, making sure no witnesses were around to spot them.
When Josuke placed his hand on single piece of the plate, all the pieces began to glow. Chunks of the plate, food and ground fixed themselves back to their normal positions. No chunks in the breakfast food, no broken bits and no more mess! "There we go! All better. Oh, and don't worry about me, I ate already."
"I'll never understand it." Shirou huffed, "You say you learned no magecraft from Kiritsugu, yet you're the most proficient mage I know!" After the statement, Shirou began to pick off his breakfast.
"Listen, Shirou, I'm still figuring it out as well. Kiritsugu-sama had a rough idea of what it could be, but he never got the chance to tell me." Josuke shrugged.
Shirou sat in silence, watching Josuke dust himself off. "Yeah. On another note, do you think it was a little odd how Sakura ran off so quickly as she did?"
"Of course. You'd have to be an idiot not to notice suspicious behavior like that." Josuke finished dusting off his pants. "But, at the same time, she's a timid girl. Maybe she was just embarrassed? I'm not too sure. All I know is we need to go to school. So uh, chop chop!"
"Right. Go on ahead, I'll see you in a bit." Shirou affirmed.
Josuke nodded, leaving Shirou to his peace and quiet.
Shirou ate in tranquility, using the silence to seep back in his own thoughts. 'I passed out practicing again' He sighed, 'Every night I spend in this shed in hopes that I get better at the magecraft I have. But, Josuke. Somehow, as long as I remember, he has had those weird abilities. Even when I ask, Josuke seems to act like he had no idea either. Maybe he's right about Kiritsugu not telling him. Maybe, he's just not telling me.'
FLASH!
The camera flash documented the first school photo of Josuke, Shirou, Sakura, Tomoko and Taiga.
Taiga Fujimura was Shirou's legal guardian. At the same time, she was a Homeroom teacher, English Teacher and supervisor for the archery club. Taiga was always best friends with Tomoko Higashikata, Josuke's mother, all her life. She even went as far as to graduate college with her.
Taiga was also the one to offer Tomoko a home alongside her during her time of need. She was even kind enough to land Tomoko a teaching position at Homurahara Academy in Fuyuki City. Forever, their bonds remained tight as a knot and bred a happy family.
"This one is going in the scrapbooks for sure, Josuke!" Tomoko teased her son with a playful smirk.
"Mom…" Josuke rolled his eyes, blushing. His cheeks burned redder once Taiga pinched them.
"Ah! You kids growing are up and having no more time for us!" Taiga giggled behind her smirk. "One day you're gonna grow up and say: Man, I really wish I took more pictures with Taiga-sensei!"
"Taiga-sensei." Josuke droned.
Shirou got a good laugh from Josuke's embarrassment. He saw it as karma for the little 'sit-fest' this morning.
"You know how to brighten up the day, Taiga-Sensei, Higashikata-Sensei." The auburn-haired boy smiled. "Let's go, Josuke, class is starting soon. We will see you later Fuji-nee! Higashikata-sensei!"
"I'll see you guys later. Take care!" The pompadour teen dismissed. "Shirou! Wait up!"
Once the boys were out of sight, Taiga sighed, leaning into Tomoko.
"It's days like this that teach you to take in the beauty of it all. Little Josuke and little Shirou are all grown up!" Taiga purred, waving to the boys.
Tomoko agreed. It was a bittersweet reality. "Those two. They've been close ever since they first met and there they are, on their second year of high school together. Some things in life just throw you for a loop, don't they?"
Taiga nodded, "Oh yeah, definitely! Kiritsugu would have loved to see the boys grow up. But I'm sure he's watching from above! I hope he's happy that a little Emiya brews in Shirou and Josuke everyday."
"It's clear to see, Taiga. That's what I'm nervous about. Shirou always took after Kiritsugu , but now Josuke is starting to as well. Who would have thought?" Tomoko added.
"Josuke is a good boy, and so is Shirou. We don't have to worry about them turning into that sinful man." Taiga poked fun at Kiritsugu. "All I can guarantee, Tomoko, is that we did our job raising them. Now it's time to let our boys to take the stage!"
Tomoko laughed at Taiga's high-spirited energy as she gathered her things. "You're right. It's just hard seeing them grow. In a few years they are going to be ready to leave the nest. Anyways, we might as well prepare for classes, I would hate to keep the kids waiting, again…"
"Take note how you said 'again' my dear Tomoko! Haha! Well let's not keep our classes waiting, Again" Taiga smirled.
The teachers shared a good laugh before entering the school building.
As soon as the lunch bell went off, the halls flooded with students going for their break. The perfect place for Shirou and Josuke to avoid the chaos was inside one of the empty classrooms. There, they ate peacefully with their mutual acquaintance, Issei Ryuudou. Shirou took the time to fix an A/C unit in the corner while Issei and Josuke sat at the table.
Josuke snacked on his homemade chicken and cheese sandwich while Issei was going through the local newspaper.
"This isn't good." Issei scoffed.
"What isn't good?" Josuke asked.
Issei sighed with a bit of shock to his breath, "Another murder happened last night in Fuyuki. With the spike in killings increasing recently, its too dangerous to keep people late after school."
"Wait-! More murder?" Josuke nearly choked on his sandwich.
Shirou found his curiosity pulling him to the table. "What exactly happened, Issei?"
"A family was killed in their home last night, seemingly stabbed to death. I'm aware over the years people have been mysteriously going missing in Fuyuki, but for a sudden spike in upturned bodies is just bizarre." Issei notes. "As Student Body President, I have no choice but to shut down after-school activities and send everyone home."
"Aw man." Josuke whined. "I wanted to check out the music club that was starting next week. I heard their club leader was also into Prince!"
"Wait a minute." Shirou started, "Sakura said something odd to me before we left."
"Senpai… Please can you do me a favor? When school finishes, please return home with Josuke-kun Immediately."
Josuke furrowed his brows, taking in what Shirou said. "Huh. I mean maybe she needs us to help with something? Maybe a surprise dinner? I'm not sure but I don't see too much thats wrong."
"You're probably right. But Sakura-chan was acting weird this morning. But, that's just the beginning of all the bizarre things happening. Josuke's grandfather is a veteran police officer. He's been running around all night recently. Tragedies, murders and other strange occurrences. Right, Josuke?"
Josuke nodded, "Grandpa Ryohei. That man is a machine. I swear he only needs bourbon and he's good for the entire week. He comes home and I hear him greet my mom and Taiga-sensei. Sometimes Sakura. He's been coming home later and later everyday."
"Gentlemen, I understand. For now I'll have to close all after-school activities and clubs. What a shame." Issei sighed, stacking papers. "Josuke, if you want I can arrange for you to talk to the president of the music club, Koichi Hirose."
"Nah, I'm good. If I bump into him, then sure." Josuke stood up, stretching and yawning. "Excuse me gentlemen, I must use the restroom. I'll be back. If not, I'll see you later, Shirou. See ya, Issei."
"Yo. Josuke." Issei waved him off.
"Oh uh, I'll see you then!" Shirou nodded with a smile.
Josuke emerged from the bathroom with his hands in his pockets, of course, turning the heads of almost all the girls in the hallway. Something to his aura and charm could snare every female in a 5 mile radius at full potential. Josuke, hearing multiple greetings and callings, simply responds with a smile and bashful wave.
"Josuke-kun!"
"Oi look it's Josuke-kun!"
"Josuke-kun you're looking great!"
"Josuke-kun can you walk us home? It's scary out there!"
"Josuke-kuuuuuuun!"
The pompadour teen kept sheepishly smiling as some girls began to trail him. Before he could open his mouth, Josuke was suddenly stopped by someone in his peripheral vision. A boy built exactly like Shirou stood dead center of the hall with his arms crossed. His deep, grimy, voice silenced everyone in the hall immediately.
"Joooooosuke-Kun." The sarcastic voice snarked.
Shinji Matou. His blue hair made it easy to tell him apart from the rest of the student body. His voice was distinct like no other; a hint of jerk and a touch of asshole. The late, great Shinji Matou stared directly into Josuke's eyes, itching to start trouble.
"Good Afternoon, Josuke-kun." Shinji rattled with relaxed eyes and malice in his voice. "It seems we have quite the party. Did you need your hand held while using the bathroom?" His voice was singular and monotone which made his question oddly serious.
"Oh, good afternoon, Shinji-kun." Josuke stated surprised, yet remaining polite. "What's going on?"
Shinji looked at Josuke and scoffed, "A lot of things, Josuke. A lot of things. Perhaps too much? And then there's you, taking up the halls with your posse. Not a good look, Josuke-kun."
When Josuke turned around, he noticed that most of the hallway was taken up by female students. Others had a hard time squeezing by. Despite Shinji's sour nature, he was unfortunately right. Josuke nods and quickly bows, "My apologies Shinji-kun! To you and to the other students for blocking up the hall. It won't happen again!"
Shinji smirked before turning around, heading towards the stairs. "Josuke-kun. It shouldn't happen again. You're being very risky with this promise. Not a smart thing to say, Josuke-kun…" He stopped at the mid-stair landing, "While we are at it, you can pass the message onto your Shirou partner. He can happily buzz off from the archery club affairs. He's no longer a member so he shouldn't be anywhere near us…"
And with that, Shinji disappeared into the stairwell. Josuke looked over the railing and hissed to himself. "I don't understand how some people go around living their lives like such selfish assholes. I don't want to start anything I don't have to. I don't like to fight when it's unnecessary. But what a pure jerk!"
Josuke took a deep breath and continued to walk down the halls. Eventually, the hallway brought back around to the classrooms where he spotted Shirou. He seemed to be watching two people talk. Weird. Josuke conjured an evil smirk on his face as he called:
"OI! SHIROU! SHIROU EMIYA!" Josuke purposely raised his voice to grab the attention of everyone in the area.
Shirou jumped at the sudden call of his name. He turned around to face his best friend, bashfully. "J-Josuke!"
"I thought you spaced out in the middle of the hall and needed me to bring you back down to earth!" Josuke patted him on the back with a shit-eating grin.
"Yeah right, ya big jerk." Shirou teased. "It's just, I saw Sakura picking up some papers when she was aided by... Rin Tohsaka…"
"Tohsaka…? Hmn. I've never heard of her or I just never cared enough to really look into it." Josuke pondered, scratching his chin.
Shirou gave a single chuckle, "Of course you have, she's our peer. Also her family is kinda famous, so it's a bit intimidating being around her. Let alone, talking to her is just plain nerve-racking. Wait, Josuke, isn't your family name famous too?"
"Oh, that." Josuke croaked with a knotted stomach, "It's not my family name, it's HIS family name. Joestar…"
"Yeah, that" Shirou nodded. "I hear some people mention that name out of its power in real estate. But, I've heard it mentioned somewhere else. I'm not sure. It was not by Fuji-nee or Higashikata-sensei... "
"It's not important!" Josuke quickly covered up. "Come on, let's go. Class is resuming. Don't want to be late again, now do we?" Josuke pitched up his voice, turning Shirou around and walking with him.
Shirou simply laughed, "Take note that you said 'again'. Not me."
A smirk came from Josuke as he ruffled the shoulder of Shirou's school uniform. "Oh you little-."
The late-afternoon sun illuminated the academy halls. Fueled by the request given to him earlier, Shirou searched in the first year classroom areas for a certain person in that group. Sliding open the door, he only discovered an empty classroom. Pushed in chairs, aligned desks, and other attributes would highlight the neatness of the room. Once Shirou closed the classroom door, a familiar face became present in the door's reflection.
"Well well, Emiya-kun. What do we have here? Looking around classrooms after hours?" Arose from Shinji Matou. He venom in his voice was the same tone used to berate a certain pompadour teen.
Shirou turns around as he gasps a bit softly, "Shinji."
"This is the classroom for the first years, a grade below us, so tell me why you're snooping around here?" The blue-haired boy stood proud with crossed arms and a devilish smile.
Still frazzled, he quickly tried to find an excuse. "I was just- I was coming to pick up some stuff from-"
"Oh no no no. That shouldn't be your excuse to me, Emiya-kun. Heh, I know why you were here, but in the meanwhile I have something for you. I'm sure Josuke must have surely passed on my message." Shinji narrowed his eyes.
Shirou shook his head, "Uh, he didn't tell me anything. What did you tell him to say?"
"Tch." Shinji scoffed for proceeding to lie through his teeth, "Josuke should have told you that the archery club could still use your help. The range is in need of a dire cleaning. Since the members have to go home, we have no one to clean. Since you like to bud your nose in our affairs, I suppose I can welcome you to such a task, Emiya-Kun…" He wanted to hear a no. He wanted a reason to dig deeper into the auburn-haired boy before him. But he was shut down with a-
"Sure thing, Shinji…"
Shinji could find himself to scoff and frown, "Sure… just do what people tell you, Emiya-kun. Like a mindless dog" He turned around, walking away believing he had won the day.
BOOF!
Shinji smacked right into a larger figure, sending him to the ground. He hissed, looking up at Josuke who seemed unphased from the collision. This irritated Shinji even more. Josuke's following kindness wasn't helping his case.
"Oi, Shinji-kun! I'm sorry! I should have been paying attention! Are you ok?" Josuke apologized. He took the liberty to at least help Shinji back to his feet.
Once Shinji stood up, he yanked his hand away from Josuke. "What gives you the right to touch me? Tch. I'm fine. Watch where you're going before you kill somebody one day!" The blue-haired boy hissed before storming off.
Josuke shrugged and waved off the Matou. "I'll never understand that kid's problem. Anyways, where were you?! I was waiting at the classroom for 20 minutes and you never showed! You scared me man! I hate being ghosted! Makes you feel alone."
Shirou rubbed the back of his head tilting it innocently, "I'm sorry Josuke, I lost track of the time. I was just looking for some stuff."
"It's not good to do that to people. Not a good look. Now come on, let's go home. I could go for some nice steamed hams of yours. The way you make them is just the bomb!" Josuke smiled, walking with Shirou down the hall.
Shirou stopped after a few steps, shaking his head. "I can't. I have to clean up the archery range now. I'll be home later, you can go ahead without me."
"Eh?" Josuke remained stunned, "You have to clean up the archery range? Says who?!"
"Says Shinji. More or less he asked and I accepted." Shirou shamefully confessed.
"Shirou, you know you don't have to listen to everything everyone tells you. You're a great guy, incredible and kind! But, there are jerks like Shinji out there who take advantage and are utter assholes." Josuke stared down Shirou. He wanted to drill it in his mind that he didn't have to be pushed around.
The auburn boy still admitted defeat, "I'm aware, Josuke, but this was my choice. Now, do you want to help me? It's fine if you don't, I can do it myself-"
"Oi, a wise man once said to divide and conquer! I'll help you out! Who knows, if we start now we can probably be home in time for dinner!" Josuke pranced on ahead.
Shirou relaxed, following his best friend down the halls and towards the main archery club building. He felt bad for Josuke, ready to convince him that he didn't need to help. Shirou was more than willing to save him the trouble, but something kept him quiet. Perhaps he was just happy that they were now in this mess together. 'Josuke, I don't know what it is but, your stubborn nature works in ways I'll never understand. By sticking by me is one reason why I can say I'm proud to be your friend, Josuke.'
The moonlight over Homurahara Academy reflected off the glossy floors of the archery range. Shirou soon finished drying it with a clean towel, wrapping up his task. He sighed, standing up and stretching.
"I'm glad we could have gotten this done when we did. Without Josuke's help, I would have been here another hour or two." Shirou suddenly noticed his companion no longer with him. "Hmn, where is Josuke? He said he went to take a leak half an hour ago. Is he lost?" The boy pondered, looking down the archery range.
Shirou let the silence and tranquility of the moon take him. With no one around, Shirou sunk back into his thoughts. Touching on some old nostalgia, Shirou imagined his old bow in his hands again. With a pose of drawing the bow, Shirou closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. Holding on to the imaginary bowstring, the auburn boy was taken back further into his nostalgic memories.
"Josuke, can I talk to you about something I can trust you about?" The past voice of Shirou Emiya would call out to his best friend.
[1998 - The Night of Shirou's Accident]
Josuke flung open the front door in cold sweats and heavy breaths. He prayed for the news not to be true, only to be let down by a harsh reality. Shirou stood on the threshold with Ryohei and Tomoko Higashikata. Emiya wore a pained expression along with a cast, supporting his right arm. Before Josuke could open his mouth, Ryohei provided a calming explanation.
"He's ok. He had a slight mishap at his job and separated his shoulder. It was only a Grade 1 injury, thus he should be fine within the next coming months. I suggest you keep ice on it and rest up. Do I make myself clear boys?" Ryohei wanted to make sure they knew not to do anything to prolong Shirou's injury. A separated shoulder was no joke.
"Shirou… Uh, yeah gramps, we understand!" Josuke assured him. He slowly tip-toed towards his companion.
Shirou nodded, bowing to the veteran police officer. "Thank you Ryohei-sama!" Of course, he couldn't forget who else helped out at the time of the accident. "Thank you Tomoko-sensei! I appreciate the help and care you've done for me! Thank you!"
Tomoko smiled, ruffling his hair, "Take it easy kiddo. If you do anything to hurt your arm, I'll remove it myself. You too Josuke. Keep an eye on Shirou." The young mother joked towards her 'sons'. While Shirou was adopted, he meant all the same towards Tomoko.
Ryohei playfully rubbed the opposite shoulder of Shirou, "Anything for Kiritsugu's boy. Dinner will be ready in a little bit, use the time to take it slow. Especially you, Shirou, you need the rest."
Both boys nodded before retreating to their respective quarters. Not long after, Shirou made his way to Josuke's room. There was something on his mind he needed to confess. Something that was slowly eating away at him. "Josuke? Are you busy?"
"Huh? Nah, just looking at some shoes." Josuke looked up from his designer magazine. "What's up? Is dinner ready?"
"No, not yet. Listen, can I talk to you about something? There's something that's been eating away at me. I just can't keep it in anymore." Shirou whispered.
Putting down the magazine, Josuke spun around in his chair to give Shirou his undivided attention. "Yeah, yeah. Go ahead. What's been bothering you? Besides your arm."
"Well, it's about the arm. I tell this to you in utmost confidence. Alright? So please keep it between us. You know how tomorrow I would've had the archery competition with Shinji as my partner?" Shirou began slowly.
Josuke nodded.
"Archery, I love it, but recently I've been wanting to take more hours at my job for cash. Plus, I wanted to stop. I just slowly lost my passion for it. Shinji wasn't making it any easier. Hell, the only thing we somewhat agreed on was Archery. So to get out of the competition, I am not proud of it, but I did this to myself." Shirou admitted.
Josuke's eyes shot open, "You what?!"
"Shh! Please! Josuke, look, I didn't do it in a self-harming manner. I was trying to reach for something well knowing the risk of what would happen if I failed and I simply just accepted my fall. That was it. But, I came to you since you know my secret of my mage training and I know your mage abilities. Can you use your abilities to help me?" Shirou asked.
"Well I'm not a fan of you letting yourself get hurt. What if something worse happened to you? I wouldn't know what to do. God forbid you ever died! All that aside, what do you need?" Josuke droned
Shirou knew what he was looking to get done, "After I'm excused from the tournament tomorrow, can you use your magecraftto fix me? I know you are the best at fixing things. So, after I'm let go from the tournament, can you fix me? But please keep this secret between us both. I know I can trust you, Josuke…"
Without hesitation, Josuke agreed. He saw why Shirou wanted to wait. He was smart. Since the injury is recent, it would be suspicious if Shirou were to suddenly be all better. "Alright. Give it a week and then I'll fix you."
[1999 - Present]
Snapping Shirou out of the flashback, a sudden gust of powerful wind hit him. It was no simple pick up in speed, but a powerful cannon that covered the whole area with a-
BOOOM!
Shirou turned his head, surprised. "What was that? What's happening?"
Curiosity strung the auburn teen by his heart, leading him away from the archery range and towards the main school building. He approached one of the sports fields slowly. Clashing of metal and blades filled the air as Shirou himself peeking around a corner. That's when he saw a it. No, them.
Two men were fighting with incredible speed and power. One of the fighters wore all blue tights with silver shoulder pads and suit designs running all over his body. He had a tall and muscular build to his body, features outlined by his suit. Contrary to his blue hair and outfit, he wielded a large red spear. His adversary had a similar build to the blue haired attacker. Unlike them, his hair was white. He wore a black and silver shirt with a red crop top jacket. His pants were also black. Unlike Lancer, Archer had two blades in his hand to fight.
Shirou witnessed them go at it with pure might. Never has he witnessed such amazing potential before. All was well until Lancer stared Shirou dead in the eyes. With an instant shiver running through his spine, Shirou gasped and took off running!
"Hey! Who are you?!" Lancer barked.
Shirou plowed through the main school doors, running for his life. "JOSUKE!" He screamed out.
The auburn boy slid around the corner of lockers as a giant red spear came barreling across his face, nearly hitting him. "GAH!" Shirou hollered, life flashing before his eyes.
He used the opportunity to keep on running while beginning to pant. "JOSUKE!" he yelled out again. This time Shirou jumped up a flight of stairs to the second level, booking it down the hallway. "JOSUKE WHERE ARE YOU?! Don't tell me this guy got Josuke! JOSUKE!"
In the first floor bathroom, Josuke procrastinated on his phone. As mean as it was, Josuke was willing to do anything to kill time and finish up the stupid chore. Using that time, he let his family know about the sudden change in plans. Cringing to himself, the pompadour teen knew he was going to get a very feisty text from his mother. Eventually, Tomoko delivered.
"Josuke! Don't make me send out my father to go and bring you two home by your shirts! It's late out and this city is becoming more dangerous! Please come home as soon as you can and in one piece!" Tomoko texted.
Josuke rolled his eyes and replied with a simple, "Ok mom…"
Once the text was sent, Josuke briefly checked the time on his phone. "Well, it's been thirty minutes since I went to use the bathroom. That should have been enough time for Shirou to have finished up without me. I feel like a jerk, but I was not gonna be bossed around by a brat like Shinji. Besides, I technically did help him clean for the first hour and a half-"
BOOOOOOOM!
CRAAAAAAAAAAASH!
JOSUKE WHERE ARE YOU?!
The voice of Shirou screeched after some huge bangs and explosions that shook the bathroom. Josuke immediately burst out of the door in a panic. He spotted destroyed lockers, windows, and other parts of the school that lead towards the stairs. Then he heard his name again from the floor above him.
JOSUKE!
"I'm coming, Shirou!" Josuke balled his fists and took a hesitant step forward. 'What the hell could have caused all this damage…? What the hell is chasing down Shirou?! It doesn't matter! I need to move forward!' Josuke bolted down hall. The stairs were dirty, the lockers were destroyed and glass shards covered the floor. Josuke didn't stop. No matter how much his guilty conscience weighed him down, he wouldn't let this be the reason something happens to his best friend.
Josuke didn't scream back. He was too focused on running. The pompadour cleared the second floor, then the third floor where Shirou's scream came from. The path of destruction came to a close. The only remaining noises were clicking from Josuke's shoes.
Each step became more slower than the last. Josuke's heart pounded harder as he approached the corner to the next hall. It was way too quiet. Eerily quiet. Avoiding being spotted by anyone or anything, Josuke stayed low and close to the wall. That's when he rounded the corner.
DRIP!
Josuke froze, feeling his shaking foot step into a liquid. His head cranked lower and lower to see his shoe dipped in a trail of blood. "Ugh.. Uh… Ugh.." Josuke gagged, covering his mouth with his hands. He stopped breathing, overcome by fear. He began sweating profoundly out of every pore in his body. The puddle of blood lead him to the body of its origin. Josuke's throat closed, preventing him from speaking of the horrific sight. "Sh...Sh...Shir...Shir…" Tears rushed from their ducts and down the teenager's cheeks.
Laying there on the ground, Shirou continued to bleed out. He remained motionless with a clean hole through his core, blood pouring out into the growing puddle."SH-SHIROU!" Josuke ran in a sudden burst of panic. He suddenly slipped in the blood puddle, hitting the ground hard with a-
BOOF!
Covered in Shirou's blood, the pompadour refused to fail his best friend. Josuke crawled to Shirou, holding him close to him. "SHIROOOOOOUUUU!" he cried.
Josuke's felt as if a knife was stabbed through his heart. He gripped Shirou's jacked hoping to feel the warmth of his body still with him; to feel his soul still there. Josuke didn't want to accept that this was his companion's final moments. "Shirou! You- please… no! You- you are my brother, my life and my soul! Come on! Shirou! NO! NOT LIKE THIS!"

Well Howdy! I know I know. Another Story? Well this is my first Crossover story and I'm going to see where it takes me and how I execute it. Hopefully the people will like this story as much as I do. Also be sure to check out Heirs To Avalon: A High School DxD Story which is another passion project I'm doing. Anywho, let us get into the details so far! Fate X JOJO! I recently have watched all 3 Fate: Heavens Feel movies and enjoyed them all so much. I also have taken the JOJO pill, and realized that the heroic spirits, are souls / spirits, thus making them tangible to the law of stands.
So for come clarification, this story is set in Fuyuki City, rather than Morioh, and the main household is the Higashikata-Emiya household. As stated, during a time where Tomoko was pregnant, she needed a place to stay, and her best friend at the time / still is, Taiga Fujimura, offered Tomoko a place to stay alongside Kiritsugu Emiya. In this timeline, Josuke is raised until Kiritsugu brings home Shirou and they all raise the family together, until Kiritsugu passes, giving the home to the Higashikata's and allowing Ryohei to move in as well.
THIS ROUTE WILL BE FOLLOWING THE HEAVENS FEEL ROUTE ONLY. This will also be following some arcs and events of part 4 mixed in with custom arcs and Heaven's Feel arcs. I am doing my best to avoid rewriting the movie but I'm excited to say we will be seeing a lot of our favorite Fate characters and JOJO characters appear during this wild ride! Hopefully you all will enjoy this story and we can go far together with it!
I would love to give a shoutout and credit to Mugiwara N0 Luffy who writes the amazing series "A Devil's Diamond". Please GO CHECK IT OUT. It is fantastic, well written and yes, it was my inspiration for this story. He deserves the credit for the startup and success this story gets. He's also an awesome friend so hit him up, favorite him, follow him, and show him all the love!
Be sure to favorite and leave a review! Thank you!
