UA's Saiyan Heroes

It was dark, the hour was late, and a lone figure was walking through the streets. Kaen looked around before ducking into a dark alley. Heading down the alley, Kaen stopped at one of the walls, and knocked on it three times, before it opened, allowing him to step inside, while the entrance closed on him.

"You're late." The fight promoter said, coming to his side.

"Sorry, girlfriend was over, had to wait until she fell asleep to come." Kaen stated, removing his hoodie.

"Women." The promoter sighed. "You remembered that tonight's the big night, right?"

"Yeah I know." Kaen said.

"Tonight, you'll be facing off against the big champ himself. Only one person bet on you coming out as winner."

"This guy's that good?"

"Kid, he's been the undefeated champ of the Underground Masquerade for years. He ain't gonna go down easily. You might wanna consider using your Quirk in this fight."

"I told you, I'm not using my Quirk." Kaen said putting on a pair of MMA Gloves. "I'm gonna rely on my own physical strength."

"It's your funeral." The promoter said. "But just be warned, we've got a few recruiters for villain organizations here in the stands tonight. So you might wanna think about wearing your mask."

"Got it." Kaen agreed, pulling a half mask from his sweater pocket, before hanging it up on a bar outside the fight ring.

"Are you sure about your choice not to use your Quirk?"

"I'm sure." Kaen stated. "Remember, this is my final fight. Then I'm done."

"Survive this, and I'll personally triple your winnings." The promoter said, before signally for the ref to start.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Please, put your hands together, and welcome our fighters, for tonights battle to the death." The ref called out. "In one corner, we have the undefeated, he death defying, monster of the ring, Rappa."

The stage lights lit up, and shined down on a shirtless red haired man, with a mask over his eyes, smiling like a madman. The crowd cheered for him, as he pumped his fists into the air.

"An' his challenger, a rookie who's been making a name for himself, and has been climbing the ranks like crazy, without using his Quirk, or killing his opponent. Please help me welcome, Saiya."

Kaen marched through the open door of the cage, and there was a mix of boo's and cheers.

"Alright, you both know the rules, anything goes. Now fight." The ref called out, before jumping out of the octagon.

Almost instantly, Kaen had to pivot to the side as Rappa was in front of him, and threw his fist at him.

"You're fast, but I doubt you're faster then my fists." Rappa smirked, pivoting on his own foot, and throwing another punch at Kaen.

The Saiyan teen instantly brought his hands up, grabbing the punch before it could make contact with his chest, and pushed Rappa back, before sliding back himself, his back hitting the cage.

"You're not just fast, you're strong too. This should be a fun match." Rappa smirked.

(Cue Music… We Will Rock You: Five-Feat. Queen)

Rappa charged at Kaen, swinging his fists at the Saiyan teen, trying to land a hit on him with as much fury as he could muster. Unfortunately for the red haired fighter, Kaen seemed to dodge and deflect all his attacks, barely taking any hits as he just redirected Rappa's punches, before slamming his knee into Rappa's chin, and brought his hands down on him.

Forced to a single knee, Rappa kept himself from falling to the ground, by keeping his fists firm on the floor.

Raising his arms to strike Rappa again, Kaen swung down hard on Rappa, but missed as the redheaded man rolled out of the way, and got back on his feet, instantly hitting Kaen with his attacks.

Being forced back to the wall of the cage, Kaen blocked the onslaught of attacks with his arms up, covering his face and vital organs, before he ducked down, and moved out of Rappa's range of attack, getting himself a safe distance away from Rappa as the punch happy man turned around, and charged at him again.

"Alright, that's it. Are you just gonna keep dodging me all night, or are you actually gonna fight back, and use your Quirk?" Rappa questioned.

"I've never used my Quirk in any of my fights. So I don't plan on breaking that streak now." Kaen said, before grabbing each of Rappa's fists, and pulling him in closer, slamming their heads together in a headbutt. "But I will take you down."

Pulling Rappa down, Kaen slammed his knee into the bridge of Rappa's nose, before pulling back, and swinging Rappa around, before letting go, and sending him into one of the support beams of the cage.

"Now that's more like it." Rappa smirked. "Show me what you got."

Kaen brought his hands up, before he and Rappa charged at one another, and began slamming their fists into each others faces. It became a kickboxing match, that no one without a speed Quirk, could keep up with.

"You're good for an amateur. I'm surprised I've never heard of someone with your skills before." Rappa said, his fist slamming into Kaen's face.

"I'm not. I like to keep a low profile." Kaen stated, grabbing Rappa by one of his arms and locking in, before hitting him up multiple uppercuts, making contact with the redheads stomach, chest, and face.

"Don't we all, in this underground fight ring? But I'm not too concerned about that. I love having my name out there for the world to hear." Rappa smirked, slamming his knee into Kaen's side.

"That's you, but there's a reason why I don't use my Quirk in these fights." Kaen stated, grabbing Rappa by his leg and pulling him into the air, before slamming him down on the ground, causing a loud echo to resonate through the arena. "If I do use it, none of my opponents would last within the first thirty seconds of the fight, and where's the fun in that?"

"You really get me kid." Rappa smirked, flipping back and getting to his feet. "Too bad I have to end you."

"You won't end me." Kaen huffed, taking on his fighting stance one more time. "This final attack will finish it."

Rappa just smiled and charged at Kaen, and vice versa, before they met in the middle, both of their heads thrown back as the others fists made contact with their cheeks.

(End Song…)

The arena went silent for a moment as Rappa and Kaen just stood there, before a groan of discomfort came out of Rappa, as he fell to the ground, passed out from the strike to the jaw he took from Kaen.

"An' we have a winner. Ladies and gentlemen, our new undefeated champion, Saiya." The announcer said, as he came back into the ring, and held up Kaen's hand.

Kaen was breathing heavily, the adrenaline rush dying down, allowing him to feel the pain of Rappa's strikes, and thrust his other arm up into the air, causing the crowd to cheer louder, before the sound of slow, amused clapping echoed behind him, and he turned around to see who it was.

Coming into the caged ring, was a man wearing a black dress shirt with matching dress pants, a pale gray tie around his neck, and a belt with a long, thin buckle around his waist, with three beaded lobe piercings in his left ear. Over his shirt, he wears a dark olive-green bomber jacket with a thick purple fur collar, and white lace-up sneakers with tan soles and no socks on his feet. Kaen could see a pair of white surgical gloves on his hands, which indicated his Quirk had something to do with physical contact, with his attire completed by the magenta plague mask he wears over his mouth, which is tipped and embroidered with gold. As far as Kaen could tell, those were his most distinguishing features.

"Very well done kid. You've got some serious skills, and I find it hard to believe you repressed your instincts for fighting back with your Quirk." The man said, walking around Kaen in the ring, and looking him over. "Could it be, you're actually Quirkless?"

"Nope, my Quirk's just too powerful to use." Kaen said unwrapping his tail from his waist.

"I see." He said.

"Who are you?"

"My name? Call me Overhaul."

"Going by the name of your Quirk I see." Kaen said.

"Clever. How'd you figure that one out?"

"You're wearing white surgical gloves. Normally, anyone these days, wearing gloves like that, does it to suppress their Quirks abilities, because they're uncontrollable. I thought it was because you're a germaphobic when I saw your mask, but then I realized, you could be wearing a normal surgical mask if that were the case. So I deduced, the plague mask is symbolic, while hiding the fact that you're a germaphobic, while your gloves repress your Quirk for you."

"You've got some brains behind that skull of yours." Overhaul said. "I have a proposition for you, Saiya, if that is what you'd prefer I call you."

"Whatever it is, I'm not interested." Kaen stated.

"Oh, but I think you will be once you hear me out." Overhaul stated, sounding like he was smiling under that mask. "Come work for me, become one of my eight bullets of the, Shie Hassaikai."

"The Shie Hassaikai? The Yakuza group?" Kaen questioned.

"The very same."

"I'll pass." Kaen sighed, heading for the cage door. "I'm not all too interested in giving snitches cement shoes, or drowning them in hydrochloric acid."

"What if we decided your answer on a fight?" Overhaul asked.

"The fight against Rappa was my final fight. Consider this my retirement."

"I'll pay you double what your fight promoter gives you, if you win."

Kaen stopped right before he could step out the ring, and raised his head.

"I am the only one who bet against Rappa, so the payout would be bigger then you could ever imagine." Overhaul stated.

Kaen just turned back to look at Overhaul and grabbed the side of the door, before turning around to face the Yakuza head.

"Fine. We'll fight. You win, I join the Hassaikai, you lose, you double what my promoter pays me." Kaen said.

"Sounds fair." Overhaul said, removing his jacket and shirt, and gloves. "Chronostasis, hold onto these for me." He stated, tossing the clothing articles over Kaen and out the door, before it closed.

Kaen turned around to see a man in a white hooded robe, wearing a full plague mask, holding Overhaul's clothes for him.

"Let's begin, shall we?" Overhaul questioned.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, in an unexpected turn of events, our champion is now gonna face off, against an unexpected challenger. Who will win, and who will be defeated?" The ref called out. "Place your bets, place your bets."

As the bell rang, Overhaul went running towards Kaen, thrusting his arm out, the grab the masked teen with his hand, but Kaen dodged the oncoming attack, as he pivoted to the side, shocking Overhaul before he slammed his elbow right between Overhaul's eyes, on the bridge of his nose.

The momentum of Overhaul's own running continued to carry him forward as he slammed into the cage, before falling to the ground.

"An instant KO." The ref called out.

"Tell your boss when he wakes up, I'll be waiting outside for my money." Kaen said, passing Chronostasis as he left the cage.

"Duly noted." The masked man said.

Heading for the exit, Kaen grabbed his jacket from his promoter, and found an envelope full of money in the inside pocket.

"This is a lot more then usual." Kaen said.

"I told you, if you survived and won, I'd personally triple your winnings." The promoter said. "I might be a criminal, but I do have some honor to uphold."

"You're a man of your word."

"It was an honor doing business with you champ."

"Thanks, you're not so bad yourself." Kaen said, shaking hands with his, now former, fight promoter.

Heading outside, Kaen stood in the alley, leaning against the wall as he held in the pain from his fight with Rappa. Thankfully, Overhaul wasn't much of a martial artist, so he didn't have any injuries from that fight. But his injuries from his fight with Rappa, were starting to get to him.

"Maybe you're not as young as you seem, and you're losing your touch."

Kaen looked up to see Overhaul, with a bandage patch over his nose, and Chronostasis behind him, holding an envelope of money.

"I was told you'd be out here, waiting for payment. An' I gotta say, when your promoter told me how much you got, I nearly dropped my jaw through my mask." Overhauls said, as Chronostasis held out the envelope of money.

'Twice as thick as the envelope I got from him. He must not like this guy.' Kaen thought. "Yeah well, not everyone likes an underdog, except you apparently."

"My cards in the envelope if you ever decide to change your mind about joining the Hassaikai." Overhaul said. "My team could use a man like you."

"What exactly do you plan on doing?" Kaen asked.

"We'll revolutionize the world." Overhaul said, before he and Chronostasis turned around, to head back in to the fight arena.

Reaching into the envelope, Kaen pulled out a metal card, before he snapped it with his thumb, between his middle and index fingers, resulting in an electric spark echoing from it.

"Nice try Overhaul. But I'm not that stupid." He said, reaching into the envelope again and pulling out what he assumed was another tracking device. "But apparently, you seem to think I am."

Flicking the tracking device away, Kaen attached it to a rat, just before it scurried off. Removing his mask, and pulling his hood up, Kaen left the alleyway and made his way back home, making sure no one was following him, so he wouldn't get his family, mixed up in this.

~The Following Morning~

"Seriously Kaen, you're never gonna learn are you?" Gine questioned, patching him up.

"Easy mom, easy." Kaen hissed in pain as the disinfectant was applied.

One of Rappa's attacks, had apparently managed to hit Kaen in his right eye, and the metal of the gauntlet he wore, made a gash that went straight down, over his eye, requiring stitches. But, after he'd gotten home, and hid the money away in his secret stash, Kaen had apparently blacked out, which at the time it happened, he was at the top of the stairs, only to wake up at the bottom with Mina panicking and calling for an ambulance.

Currently, he was sitting on the edge of his hospital bed, with Gine scolding him, and Mina out in the waiting room, with his right arm in a sling and bracer, as his tumble down the stairs, dislocated his shoulder and wrist.

"What was it this time? A fight against a knife wielder?" Gine questioned.

"No, it was just some jerk who had metal gauntlets, and some sort of reinforcement type Quirk. His attack just cut me, that's all."

"He also gave you a black eye, three fractured ribs, torn tendons in your forearms, and a dislocated elbow, and a concussion that made you black out and fall down the stairs." Gine said as Kaen looked away from her. "Look at me Kaen. Look at me."

Kaen just looked up at Gine, and saw the saddened look in her eyes.

"This is our chance to start over as a warrior race. We can change the definition of a Saiyan. That was something your brother never really understood, and wouldn't accept. Now I'm hoping you're not going down the same road as him."

"No mom, I'm not." Kaen said. "I'm fine. I just do some stuff at times to take the edge off of my need for a fight."

"What, don't tell me you're using drugs." Gine said.

"No nothing like that. I just go out and I… go to an underground fight ring." Kaen said.

"Oh Kaen no." Gine groaned. "Is that where all your money's been coming from? Please tell me you haven't been using Ashura, in these fights of yours."

"No I haven't been using my Quirk. I've just been using my natural strength and speed."

"That would certainly explain why you've been coming home for the last year, covered in bruises and other injuries." Gine said. "When's the next time you're fighting?"

"I'm not." Kaen said. "This last fight I was in, was my last."

"So you gave yourself plenty of time for your injuries to heal, before your first year at U.A started up." Gine said, putting in the last stitch over Kaen's gash. "Except you didn't account on having fractured ribs, did you?"

"No, but that's why I have this." Kaen said, holding up a leather wrist band, before putting it on. "Athena made it for me after I kept coming home badly injured. It can heal any serious injuries. But it can only be used, once every twenty-four hours. I usually only save it for the worst injuries I have."

"Then I suggest you use it for that concussion you have, before anything else. Then you can use it for your ribs tomorrow." Gine said.

"Right." Kaen sighed, as he could feel his headache going away.

"Now I suggest you take it easy for a couple days. I'm only suggesting this as your Doctor. But as your mother, I'm telling you to go to bed as soon as you get home, or you can expect me to give U.A a call about your less then legal activities." Gine said.

"Yes Ma'am." Kaen sighed, before hopping down from the bed, grabbing his side in pain.

"Go home, go to bed, and don't let me catch you doing anything that goes against my medical orders." Gine said.

"Right." Kaen sighed.

"Now get going, you've got a couple friends from school waiting for you outside in the waiting room." Gine said.

Carefully walking, as to not worsen his injuries, Kaen made his way through the hospital, and to the waiting room, where Mina and another boy with black hair, sharp teeth, and a scar over his right eye, got up and came to his side.

"Mina, Kirishima." Kaen smiled.

"Kaen are you okay?" Mina asked.

"What happened to you man, how'd you get so banged up?" Kirishima questioned.

"I'll be fine." Kaen said. "I just gotta take it easy for a couple days."

"Knowing you, that just means you're gonna be training even while injured." Mina said.

"Well, mom did say not to let her catch me doing anything against her medical orders. So I just gotta be careful." Kaen said.

"Well I guess I can't stop you." Mina sighed, before her face grew angry and she started smacking him in the arm with a magazine. "Now how the hell did you get so badly beat up?" She questioned, before Kirishima pulled her away from the injured Saiyan.

"Easy Mina, you're gonna injure him worse then he already is." Kirishima said.

"I'll explain everything later, right now, I'm needing to get some sleep." Kaen said.

"Kaen."

"Oh what now?" He groaned, turning to see his mom coming towards him.

"Good, you're still here. You're gonna want to come and see this." Gine said, before leading him away.

With Mina and Kirishima following, Kaen and Gine made their way to a hospital room in the coma ward, where there was a patient, Kaen came to visit on a weekly basis. Looking inside, Kaen saw Nana Shimura, was awake in her bed, and sitting up against the headboard. Her body looks as thought it's atrophied a bit, but otherwise, she still looked the same as she always had.

"She's awake, and already gone through the mandatory tests. I was so focused on scolding you, I didn't think to tell you before you left." Gine explained.

"I'm glad you caught me before I had." Kaen smiled, going into the room.

Mina and Kirishima moved to follow, but was stopped by Gine, who gave them a look, telling them it best to give this a bit of time before the door closed.

"Hello young man." Nana said, looking to Kaen as he came to her bed. "What can I do for you?"

"Well, for starters you can drop the young man title." Kaen said. "My name is Kaen Yagi. You might know who my old man is."

"You're Toshi's boy." Nana said.

"I am. But…" Kaen paused to look at the door, before looking back to Nana. "I'm not the one he's passed One-for-All to."

"You know about One-for-All?" Nana asked.

"I do. In fact, I was my dad's first choice to pass it on to, but he went to go for a different successor, one more worthy then I." Kaen said.

"Well, if you're humble enough to say you're not suited for, One-for-All, then I couldn't think of anyone better for the power." Nana smiled pulling him in for a hug. "But, it's nice to officially meet, my honorary grandson."

"Careful, careful." Kaen hissed. "I'm a little banged up from a fight I was in last night."

"I can see that." Nana said.

"But there's no need to worry about me. I'll be fine." Kaen said.

"Nana."

Kaen and Nana turned to the door as it was slammed open, with Toshinori breathing heavily as he was wide eyed, looking at the formerly catatonic woman.

"I'll give you two some time alone." Kaen smiled getting up.

"You and I are gonna have a talk later young man." Toshinori said, as they passed by one another.

"I know. I'm in for it aren't I?"

"Big time."

Leaving the room and closing the door behind him, Kaen looked to Kirishima and Mina, who both looked like they were both confused, and on the verge of crying.

"Kaen who is that woman?" Mina asked.

"That's a long story. I'll explain it to you on the way back to my place." Kaen said.

~Later at Kaen's Home~

"So wait, that woman we saw, practically raised your dad on her own?" Kirishima questioned, looking back at Kaen, losing to Mina in the video game.

"Yep. According to my dad, she did all but legally adopt him." Kaen chuckled, putting his soda down. "But despite that, she's still family. An' is my honorary grandmother"

"So how'd she end up comatose then? An' how come she's so youthful and young?" Mina inquired.

Kaen was silent for a moment, before he sighed, and decided to speak up about it.

"Dad's gonna kill me for this." Kaen said. "Are the two of you familiar with the Heavenly Hero Archangel?"

"Hell yeah. She was the #1 Hero in Japan before All Might. Then she just suddenly disappeared one day, and never showed up again." Mina said. "She's partially the reason why I chose to become a hero. The stories I've heard of her, were inspiration to me."

"Yeah well, that would be Nana." Kaen said.

"Shut up!" Mina gasped, turning back to look at him, losing the level to Kirishima this time. "You mean Nana is Archangel?"

"She is. She and All Might had the same enemy. But when All Might was still a student, working under her, All Might and my dad thought he'd, supposedly killed her in a final battle. Turns out, he kept her alive, and young. For what purposes, we don't know, but almost six years ago, she was rescued, and was comatose until recently. An' that's all I'm gonna say about it, aside from the fact that, it was two of that villains kidnap victims that rescued Nana six years ago." Kaen explained.

"Awe come on, you obviously know more then that man." Kirishima said.

"Knock it off Kirishima, he doesn't wanna talk about it, so we're not gonna but him anymore." Mina stated. "Even if I really want to know more."

"I might tell you more about it in the future, but for now, let's just hang out and relax." Kaen chuckled.

"Oh, I almost forgot man." Kirishima said, getting up and grabbing his bag. "When I told my parents I had to go to the hospital because a friend was there, my mom baked this, and told me to give it to you." He stated, pulling out a wrapped loaf of banana bread.

"An' my mom said I could stay over a couple more nights, just to make sure you're safe and doing okay." Mina explained. "She also sends her best wishes for you to get better."

"That's great, I appreciate it you guys." Kaen said.

"Speaking of your hospitalization mister." Mina said, getting up from her place on the couch and grabbing a rolled up magazine. "You still need to explain to us, how the hell you got so badly beaten several hours after we went to bed."

"Oh shit."

"Run you fool." Kirishima cried out.

"Don't gotta tell me twice." Kaen said, getting up and running away.

"You get back here and explain yourself Kaen Yagi." Mina shouted, chasing after the Saiyan in anger.
