UA's Saiyan Heroes
"An' with that, the ninth battle in the final round of the Sports Festival comes to a close, with a victory for Eijiro Kirishima from Class-A, while Class-B's Tetsutetsu has been knocked down and out." Present Mic announced, alerting Izumi and Uraraka to what was going on out in the arena.
"Well, looks like it's my match next." Uraraka said, putting her cards down. "Thanks Izumi, this helped me to keep my mind off of the struggle ahead. An' I think I know how to beat Xiao Long."
"No problem Ochako." Izumi smiled, giving Uraraka a hug. "Good luck, I hope to see you in the Quarter Finals."
"Let's hope you do."
"An' if I don't, I'll treat you to a nice big lunch tomorrow." Izumi smiled.
"Sounds great." Uraraka chuckled. "An' if that happens, we should invite Yagi, Mina, and Eri."
"Agreed." Izumi smiled.
Heading out of the room, Uraraka followed the path leading to the tunnel of the arena, before she stopped as she bumped into someone.
"Uraraka, hey. You heading out for your match?" Kaen asked.
"Y-Yeah…" Uraraka said, noticing the Class-B student over his shoulder. "Um, what are you doing with Tetsutetsu?"
"Hmm? Oh the medical drones malfunctioned after Kaminari's fight due to the amount of electricity he put out, so I'm acting as their proxy until they're back up and running." Kaen explained.
"Oh, well I won't keep you then." Mina said.
"Good luck out there." Kaen said, heading off to Recovery Girls office.
With her path cleared once more, Uraraka made her way through the tunnel and exited, to hear the sound of the crowd cheering.
"Our first fighter, is the Gravity Girl of Class-A's hero course, Ochako Uraraka. Her opponent, the fearsome Dragon Queen of flames herself, Yang Xiao Long." Mic announced as both fighters images came up on the scoreboard.
"This is it Ochako, it's now or never." She said, psyching herself out as she stretched.
~Recovery Girl's Office~
"Here he is. One unconscious Tetsutetsu." Kaen said, putting the silver haired boy on the medical bed.
"Thank you Kaen." Recovery Girl said, putting a pack of gummies in his hand. "Don't eat those all at once."
"I'll try not to." Kaen chuckled, leaving the office. 'Thankfully, she didn't notice, but I'm wearing the Xerox wristband Athena made for adding Quirks to my One-for-All core. Tetsutetsu's Quirk makes the second Quirk I've copied with it. I just gotta make some edits I want to it, and I'll add it to the core. It might be similar to Kirishima's, but you can't be too careful when it comes to defenses. A good defense, makes for a strong offense.'
As Kaen made his way through the hall, hoping to catch Uraraka's match before it ended, he bumped into someone, he was not expecting, or wanting, to meet.
"Ah, Yagi correct?" Endeavor questioned, rounding the corner and getting in his path as he spotted Kaen.
"Yeah, something I can do for you Endeavor?" Kaen asked.
"I watched your fight against the brainwashing guy. Your power is pretty impressive, to build up so much speed just by a single flicking of your arm. It reminds me of another Quirk. You seem to have much in common with All Might." Endeavor said pointing a finger at him.
"Well that shouldn't be surprising, since I am pretty sure you know my relationship to him. Even if it's not by blood." Kaen exclaimed moving around the flame hero. "Sorry, but I should get going."
"It's my Shoto's duty to surpass All Might as the #1Hero, and his match with you, will be a good testing ground to see how much training he has left until he reaches that goal." Endeavor stated causing Kaen to stop in his tracks. "So hit him hard. Don't disgrace yourself or him by holding back. That's all I wanted to say. I apologize for bothering you." He said, as he began to walk away.
"Endeavor." Kaen sighed, causing the Flame Hero to stop. "I might be fighting your son in this match, but he is my friend, first and foremost. He isn't you, and I'm not my father. So if you want him to achieve that goal so badly, then let him do it his own way, and stop being such a helicopter parent. If you so much as go anywhere near him, or try to do anything to him that'll worsen the trauma he's gone through, and I hear about it. I don't care if U.A expels me, I will tear your head from your body."
"Impudent little brat." Endeavor growled.
"I'm a family man. Always have been, always will be, and I consider your son to be like a brother to me. An' the head of a family, always keeps their promises when protecting one of their own." Kaen growled, clutching his fists. "Go ahead, see if I'm bluffing. You might find the results, to be more then you can handle." He finished before leaving, turning down to the tunnel that lead him out to the student seats.
"There you are. The match is almost over." Mina said.
"Sorry for the delay, I had an unpleasant meet up I'd rather not talk about." Kaen said, taking a seat next to her. "So the fight's already nearing it's end huh?"
"It is. To be honest though, Ochako is lasting a hell of a lot longer then I thought she'd be." Mina stated.
Down in the arena, Uraraka was trying to land a single hit on Yang, but the blonde kept blowing her away, with her fire.
"Before the match started, they made a wager." Jiro said. "If Uraraka won, Yang would give her an all access pass to I-Island's I-Expo this summer, courtesy of her dad. But if Yang won, then Uraraka would have to call her by her first name."
"Well Yang is aware of Uraraka's financial situation, so it makes sense she wouldn't want anything equally as expensive as an all expense paid Expo Pass to the I-Expo." Kaen said, before an eruption of flames flew into the air, with a cloud of smoke following.
Once the smoke cleared, it was shown that Uraraka was on the ground, lying almost motionless. Almost, being the key word as she struggled to pick herself up, before she forced herself to her feet.
"She's not gonna win this one." Kaen sighed, as Uraraka tried to run at Yang, but fell forward and to her side, as she passed out.
"The tenth match is over. The winner is, Yang Xiao Long." Midnight called out as she examined Uraraka, so see if she was in any immediate danger.
"I've got her Kaen. You just focus on your next match." Mina said, as they got up.
"Alright. Thanks babe." Kaen said, kissing her forehead, before heading off.
"With that the first round is complete. We're taking a quick break and then we're back with more matches." Present Mic's voice echoed around the arena, as the crowd called out.
He still had some time to kill, before his match would actually start, since Cementous needed to fix the arena, but there was something he couldn't help but feel like he was forgetting something, as he made his edits to the copied Quirk and added it to his Quirk's Core.
"Kaen."
The Saiyan turned around to look at who had called his name, and smiled when Eri jumped into his arms with Nana and Athena coming to greet him.
"How are you feeling?" Nana asked.
"I'm feeling nervous. Todoroki is one of the class's strongest first years. Compared to my current strength, I might not stand a chance."
"You wearing your, you know what?" Athena asked.
"Yeah? But I've only used it twice."
"Then that, combined with your strength, should be enough to win this fight. Don't worry, I know you can do it." Nana said.
"I believe in you Papa." Eri said, hugging Kaen tightly.
"Thanks Eri." He smiled.
"Alright, let's bring out our next fighters, for the first match of the Quarter Finals." Present Mic's voice called out.
"Why isn't mom up there with him?" Kaen asked.
"After your trip to the nurse's office, she chose to join dad in the faculty seats." Athena said.
"I guess she wanted to stay close to him." Kaen said, putting Eri down. "Alright, wish me luck out there."
"Good luck Papa." Eri called out, waving to him as he left the tunnel.
"An' here he is folks, the rising star of Class-A's first year Hero Course, Kaen Yagi, versus, the son of the infamous #2 Pro Hero in Japan, Shoto Todoroki." Mic announced as the two students came out of the tunnels to the arena.
"So here we are." Todoroki stated. "The son of the #2Hero, versus the son of the #1Hero."
"I'm not surprised Endeavor told you what my dad was forced to tell him, due to my sister's slip up, but just know, only one of us can win." Kaen said.
"Both of these heroes in training have been front runners in the Sports Festival, but which one of these rivals will advance to the next round?" Present Mic asked, as Kaen and Todoroki both got into fighting positions. "Prepare for… Yagi vs Todoroki. Begin!"
(Cue Music… Last one standing: Wattwhite)
As soon as Present Mic shouted for the match to start, Todoroki stepped forward with his right foot and sent a wave of ice at Kaen, hoping to freeze him in place, or knock him out of the ring with it.
But Kaen's speed proved to be too fast for his ice, as he leapt to the side, and was instantly in Todoroki's face.
Todoroki leaned to the side, pivoting on his foot as he evaded a strike from Kaen's fist, before he shot a pillar of ice from the ground, aimed for the underside of Kaen's jaw. But the Saiyan teen was too quick for Todoroki's ice yet again, as he moved his head to the side to evade the attack.
Jumping back from Todoroki's attack, Kaen built up a Ki blast in his hand and sent it flying at Todoroki, which was blocked with a wall of ice he formed to shield him.
'He keeps countering my attacks with his ice. I have to get him to use his flames, not because his dad asked me to, fuck that bastard, but because I don't wanna see him get hurt from holding himself back.' Kaen thought. 'Which means I don't really have a choice.'
Kaen took a stance and braced himself as he held out his right arm with his middle finger and thumb in a flicking motion, just as Todoroki sent out another wave of ice to attack him while he was just standing there.
"SMASH." Kaen shouted, flicking his finger, and sending a shockwave of air to counter the wave of ice.
As the counter attack neared him, Todoroki propped up a wall of ice behind his back to keep himself from being sent flying out of the ring. Causing the wave of arctic cold air to go careening towards the crowd.
'Damn it, he managed to keep himself in the arena, and didn't use his fire.' Kaen thought as he looked up to see Todoroki still standing there, looking at him stunned.
"Wow, Yagi managed to break Todoroki's insane move, truly incredible." Present Mic called out.
'He could have countered with a Ki blast strong enough to just break the ice, but instead he used his One-for-All, and from the looks of it, the strength of that Quirk has exploded exponentially.' Toshinori thought as he clenched a fist over his knee.
Without restraint, Todoroki sent another wave of ice at Kaen, aiming for the same results.
"SMASH." Kaen shouted, repeating the same move on the barrage of ice.
'I don't know much about Todoroki's fighting style. His attacks are so fast not even Izumi or Athena could collect data on him.' Kaen thought. 'But his attacks are simple to deduce based on how he uses his Quirk. So during this fight, I need to focus on getting him to accept who he is, and forget who his father wants him to be.'
"Let's continue." Todoroki stated, placing his right foot forward, and throwing his arm out towards Kaen.
Kaen's eyes widened before he felt an impact in his stomach, and was forced to bend over as the wind was knocked out of him. He looked down, and saw a chunk of ice, having hit him in the stomach, making it hard for him to breathe because of the pain.
"This match is over. The victor has been decided." Todoroki exclaimed, as Kaen stumbled back clenching his stomach and fell to his knees. "I'd have preferred if you had come out unscathed, but I guess it was inevitable."
Todoroki turned around, and began to walk, as Midnight came over to Kaen, and questioned whether or not he could go on.
"This match isn't over." Kaen growled, forcing himself to his feet, as Shoto stopped short of the boarder lines, marking the out of bounds area of the arena. "You hear me Shoto? This match isn't over. I'm not done yet. Shoto I'm not done, until you accept the truth."
"An' what truth would that be Yagi?" Todoroki questioned, without turning back to look at him.
"That your left side, isn't a curse." Kaen glared. "Just because half your Quirk came from Endeavor, doesn't mean it's not your own."
'Kaen, what are you planning? Why are you not taking advantage of the situation in front of you with his back to you? I know you prefer to fight honorably, but now's your chance to knock him out of the arena.' Toshinori thought.
"It's your power, your own unique Quirk." Kaen exclaimed. "So until you learn that truth about yourself, I will not stop, until it's pounded through your skull Shoto Todoroki."
Todoroki turned around to see his opponent was back on his feet, and glaring at him with a burning fire in his eyes, but all he could see in those eyes, was determination and a drive to win. But what he wanted to win, was unclear, and impossible to see through all the rage and anger filling his soul.
"It's your Quirk Shoto." Kaen declared, his power level sky rocketing as he took a step forward, before he vanished from Todoroki's sight, and reappeared right in front of the dual haired boy with his fist impacting Todoroki's cheek. "Remember what I told you during the break for lunch?"
Todoroki was sent flying to the other side of the arena before Kaen appeared right behind him, and kicked Todoroki in the stomach, sending him flying back to the other side. The Saiyan teen began to continue this pattern of assaults, as he lectured the dual colored haired boy, making it look like he was bouncing off the air inside the arena, his speed picking up as the wind began to blow around the arena.
"I asked you, if you think, a villain's gonna care about your daddy issues! If you think the families of those you could have saved, if you'd only used your fire, but didn't, are gonna accept that excuse when burying their loved ones, when their deaths could have been avoided if you'd only used your flames? No. I told you this vow, you've made to never use your left side, is gonna do more harm than good, and the ones who are gonna pay the price for it, are the innocent civilians who will lose their lives, if you keep this senseless vow of yours going strong." Kaen declared, hitting Todoroki one last time in the back, sending him flying out of bounds, and literally into the wall of the arena.
(End Song…)
Landing on the ground, Kaen glared at the wall embedded Todoroki, and clenched his fist out in front of him, as it shined with a Ki blast.
"How can you ever expect to become a true hero using only half your Quirk?" Kaen shouted. "You lost today, because you let your pride for your vow to never use your flames, blind you to the reality of this world. An' because of that, you've not only been defeated in this fight, but you've also been defeated in a battle of morals." He declared lowering his fist, and dispersing the Ki blast.
"Shoto Todoroki is out of bounds. Kaen Yagi, is moving on to the Semi-Finals." Midnight declared as Kaen marched out of there. "Though it looks like we'll have to do some repairs to the arena again."
As he left, Kaen could hear some of the things the Pro's in the stands were saying about him.
"Did you see how he took down Endeavor's kid?"
"Such savagery, is the school absolutely sure he's really here to be a hero?"
"Don't forget, he's one of the rising stars of Class-A."
"Maybe he was the one who allowed the Villains to make their way in during the USJ attack?"
"That might be what he's here for. He is the younger brother of Akuma."
"But did you hear what he said? He gave the son of Endeavor a lecture about being a hero, and using his full power. I don't think someone working with the villains would do that."
"Still, that Yagi kid doesn't seem like hero material to me, not with his family tree."
"Tsk, what do they know?" Kaen scoffed.
"Kaen, don't let their words get to you."
Kaen looked up to see Athena's Classmate Ruby, walking up to him, a bright smile on her face.
"You were just trying to help Todoroki see past his own pride. That's an admiral thing for you to do for a fellow classmate." Ruby smiled.
"Thanks, but it was futile. I can't help someone who's not wanting it."
"Give him time. You're a good person, Athena's assured me of that several times. So just give him some space, I'm sure this battle is a real eye opener for Todoroki."
"Right." Kaen chuckled. "Hope your fight goes well. A bit of a tip… your opponent's a big stickler for rules."
"Thanks, but I think I know how to beat Iida myself." Ruby said.
"Suit yourself." Kaen said, disappearing down the hall.
"Before the fight begins, I'm gonna do something." The android girl smiled, heading out to the arena.
"An' here she is folks, the Class-H Support Course Android, Ruby Rose, versus her opponent, the Emerald Amazon of Class-A, Izumi Midoriya." Present Mic announced.
"Excuse me." Ruby called to Mic. "Before the battle begins, I'd like to say something real quick."
"Uh, sure." Mic said.
"Thank you." Ruby said, before turning back to the entrance she came out of. "All you 'heroes' sitting right there." She called them out.
The heroes who were badmouthing Kaen looked at her in surprise, as they didn't know what to expect.
"Yeah, I'm looking at all of you." Ruby said. "How dare you bad mouth one of the most promising first years U.A has to offer. Kaen is a great and wonderful person. He's strong, and brave, and he even goes out of his way, to try and help complete strangers, who are in need and doesn't even ask for anything in return. You should be ashamed of yourselves, for judging him, just because of how he won his last battle against Endeavor's son. This is a tournament for crying out loud, people are gonna get hurt. An' you have the nerve to accuse him of being a spy for the villains, and allowing them to sneak onto campus to invade the USJ? Kaen nearly lost his life, defending his classmates, and fighting his brother you claim he's following the footsteps of. You all call yourselves real heroes? Don't make me laugh, my tool box would make for a better hero then you sorry lot."
The heroes who's been bad mouthing Kaen, all looked embarrassed as they realized multiple sets of eyes were on them from, some of them looked at the heroes in anger, some in fake sympathy, some in disgust, and some in just plain annoyance. The looks got so bad that the heroes who'd been badmouthing Kaen, got up, and left.
"Huh, wasn't expecting that to happen, but oh well." Ruby said, turning back to Iida. "Sorry for the delay, let's proceed."
"Wait, hold on a second there Rose, you can't just request to proceed after making several pro heroes leave in shame." Izumi said.
"Begin." Midnight called out.
"What were you even accusing them o…"
Izumi stopped talking, when she found herself surrounded in a flurry of rose petals, before suddenly standing outside the arena.
"An' Izumi Midoriya is out of bounds. Ruby Rose is the Winner and is moving on to the Semi Finals." Midnight declared.
"Wait a second I wasn't ready and…"
"Sorry Izumi, but this game is survival of the fittest." Ruby said, blowing a raspberry at her as she left.
"Typical Rose behavior. Though I suppose I cannot judge a book by its cover. With a Quirk like hers, she'd make for an excellent hero. But why waste her time with going into the Support Course if she's got such a powerful Quirk?" Iida questioned, leaving through the tunnel he came out of.
Back up in the stands, Kaen was leaning against one of the pillars framing the seats for Class-A, his face completely red.
"That sister of yours, really knows how to embarrass someone." Kaen grumbled as Yang came to his side. "How does she even know some of that stuff about me?"
"Her heart's in a good place." Yang said. "So what was she talking about?"
"Those heroes she called out, they were talking shit about me, just because of how I won my fight against Todoroki. I don't really care what they say, but it seems Ruby cared more then me." Kaen said.
"She's really passionate about her friends." Yang chuckled as the next match began. "Speaking of, has Mina talked to you yet?"
"No? About what, and why?" Kaen asked.
"No reason in particular." Yang said. "But, isn't her fight the one happening now?"
"Yeah, she's up against Iida. She knows how to defeat him, don't worry." Kaen smiled.
"Ooh, and with that Tenya Iida has been knocked out, and defeated by Mina Ashido." Present Mic called out. "That was a nasty tumble for the speeding engine of Class-A, am I right?"
"Wow."
"Let me guess, Mina's just standing there with her leg out?"
"Yeah, she literally just leaned to one side, and tripped Iida as he ran at her." Yang said. "Who's fight is next?"
"Jiro Versus Tokoyami. They've both already left to psych themselves out for the fights." Kaen said. "It's anyone's guess with this one. Her Quirk is effective, but Dark Shadow's weakness isn't sound, it's bright lights."
"I'm sure Jiro will think of something." Yang smiled. "You have a lot of faith in your classmates, don't you?"
"More then you'd know." Kaen smiled.
"After this fight, it'll be me versus Kirishima. Who do you think's gonna win?" Yang asked.
"Not sure. Kirishima's Quirk is kinda basic, but I know he's been working on something for the fight. Not sure what it is, but he's got a lot of faith in whatever he's been working on, that's for sure."
"He seems to follow you around, like a lost puppy for some reason." Yang said. "Why is that?"
"About a year ago, back when our final year of middle school started up, Kirishima was a very different person." Kaen sighed. "He had a hell of a lot less faith in his Quirk then he does now. But after the first day of school, he saw something."
"What did he see?" Yang asked.
"He saw me, fighting off a villain, six times my size, that had cornered a few of my classmates." Kaen said. "The next day, he caught up to me as my classmates were thanking me again for saving them, and the following transpired."
~Flashback~
"I'm sorry." The black haired Kirishima said bowing to Kaen and his classmates. "I was there when that villain cornered you girls, and I panicked. I have no excuse for my cowardice."
Kaen just looked at Kirishima as he was switching out his school shoes for his regular ones, before he sighed and put his bag and shoes down.
"Kirishima, look up at me." Kaen said.
Kirishima looked up at Kaen, before his head was knocked back down, as Kaen's fist made contact with his cheek, knocking the sharp toothed boy back.
"Don't ever apologize for your human nature." Kaen said, as Kirishima looked up at him, holding his bruised cheek. "Fear is what keeps us alive, it's what helps humans to grow as a species. Even the mightiest of heroes, feel fear as they face down their enemy."
"But I…"
"Kirishima." Kaen said. "Show me someone who's not afraid of anything, and I'll show you a hopeless idiot."
~End Flashback~
"After that, Kirishima's been glued to my side, looking up to me like I'm his bro, or something." Kaen chuckled. "I guess… I'm what he sees, when he thinks of being a true man."
"Sounds like you're quite the inspiration to him." Yang smiled. "Given him that tough love knocked some sense into him huh?"
"Actually, I think I knocked a few screws loose. He wanted to train with me every day since then, but since I already had a training regimen that worked for me, I sent him to someone I thought could help, and sparred with him on the weekends." Kaen said.
"Guess that explains why his match wasn't a draw. I swear I thought he and Tetsutetsu were gonna end in a tie." Yang said. "But there is a problem with the 20 Students in the tournament."
"An' that would be?"
"There are still two extra fighters before the Finals."
"There's no problem, the first two who manage to make it through the Semi Finals, will just fight the two extras as a bonus round before the Finals." Kaen said.
"That sounds… inefficient." Yang said.
"It is, but there were teams of five in the second round of the Sports Festival. So this is how it has to be." He shrugged.
"What about Monoma? What has Principal Nezu, have planned for him?" Yang inquired.
"Ultimately, Nezu has left that decision to me, since I'm the one Monoma tried to villainize by using Shinzo's Quirk." Kaen stated. "Any ideas on how I should proceed?"
"Pressing charges would be the go to for me."
"That's too easy, plus his family is already starting to face the wrath of the Court of Public Opinion, with what he's done. I don't wanna make it worse for them by sending him to jail, when he's still only in high school." Kaen said.
"You telling me you actually feel sorry for him?" Yang asked.
"No, I don't feel sorry for the guy. I just feel sorry for his parents." Kaen stated. "But I think I might know how to deal with him. You might wanna get ready for your match while I'm taking care of this."
"Alright, suit yourself." Yang said.
Pulling out his phone, and dialing up his dad, Kaen looked around to make sure no one else was around, before Toshinori actually picked up.
"Kaen, what's up?"
"Is Principal Nezu sitting next to you?"
"Yes, he's sitting right here. Do you want me to give the phone to him?"
"If you don't mind dad. I need to tell him I've figured out what I wanna do with Monoma." Kaen said.
"Alright, here he is." Toshinori said.
"Good day to you Young Yagi. Have you decided on a punishment for Neito Monoma?" Nezu asked.
"You could say something like that." Kaen smiled. "If at all possible, would you be able to add an exhibition match to the roster of events, for after the tournament ends?"
~Fasha's Hideout~
"So you're telling me, that Saiyans are able to get stronger from something called a Zenkai Boost?" Chimera questioned, the television smoking behind him as he destroyed it with his fire breath.
"Yes fur brain. Saiyans whether their half-breeds or pure bloods, are able to get stronger from Zenkai Boosts. Basically, a Saiyan gets stronger after recovering from getting their asses kicked. An' from what I've seen of the fights, before you fried the television, his Zenkai Boost has to be off the charts." Fasha stated.
"You didn't think to tell the team this, sooner?" Chimera questioned.
"What was there to tell? He's still only a half-breed, so even if his Zenkai Boosts are off the charts, his strength will never compare to a pure blooded Saiyans." Fasha said.
"For your sake, I hope you're right about that." Chimera growled, heading out.
"Where are you going?"
"To get a new television. I broke it, so I gotta replace it. Clean up the damned mess while I'm gone, would ya?"
"Clean up your own damn mess, I am not your maid who cleans up everything you melt with that stupid laser breath of yours. I'm going out and getting some more beer and some cigarettes." Fasha said, grabbing her coat.
"Stupid Primate." Chimera growled.
"Ugly freak." Fasha retorted.
~Kaen~
"Kaen, there you are." Gine said, finding Kaen in the prep room, with Eri sitting on his back as he did push ups. "I've been looking for you. Principal Nezu has set up everything for when the tournament is over."
"Great." Kaen smiled, his rhythm not slowing down at all as she came in.
"Eri what are you doing in here?" Gine asked.
"I'm sitting on Papa's back as he prepares himself for the fight ahead." Eri smiled.
"You know that's not what I mean little lady." The Saiyan woman chuckled.
"Aunty Athena had to take care of something, and Nana had to head home because she got an alert about an important package she'd been expecting. So Papa said he'd watch me until his match. Then he'd take me to his class's seats and I'd sit with Mama." Eri said.
"I hope that's all right mom." Kaen said.
"Well, it'd be better she not sit with me in the Teacher's seats. So I guess it's fine."
"An' with that folks, the final match of the Quarter Finals has ended with Yang Xiao Long coming out on top, with Eijiro Kirishima flat on his face." Present Mic's voice came out of the speaker system. "We will be taking a short break to allow our remaining competitors a brief reprieve from… Hold on folks I'm being told that we will have a special, exhibition match after the tournament, and the two students who were supposed to fight the winners of the Semi Finals, have quit, because they do not wish to be pulverized by the power houses."
"So it's gonna be me versus Rose, and Xiao Long, versus Mina for the Semi Finals. Who were the Semi Finalists supposed to fight again?"
"Tsuyu Asui, and Mezo Shoji." Gine said.
"It makes sense for Tsu to be logical about the fights, but I thought for sure Shoji would at least try to win." Kaen said.
"Well, after that tornado you made fighting Todoroki, I'm sure he didn't want to suffer the same thing." Gine chuckled.
"Well, guess I'd better take Eri to where my class is sitting." Kaen said, getting up, with Eri hanging from his shoulders.
"Before I forget, your father's wanting to talk with you and Midoriya about something. An' while you're doing that, I'll take Eri to Class-A's seats." Gine said, taking Eri off his back.
"Right, thanks mom." Kaen stated, heading out the door.
Heading down the hall, Kaen made his way to the tunnel where he'd have to leave through to get to the arena, but spotted his dad, talking with Izumi. But the green haired girl had her head against the wall, with a depressed aura hanging above her.
"I'm sorry, I failed you." Izumi cried.
"No you didn't fail me. These things happen." Toshinori said.
"Dad." Kaen called to him, making the U.A Teacher look towards him. "Mom, said you wanted to talk to me?"
"I did." Toshinori said. "Could you cheer Izumi up for me?"
"I don't think I can. Why don't you tell her something that might make her feel better?" Kaen suggested.
Toshinori just looked to Kaen, before an idea popped into his head.
"You know Izumi, I was Quirkless once too." Toshinori said.
"You were?" Izumi asked.
"What?" Kaen questioned.
"True story, it wasn't as rare a thing back then as it is today, but I was Quirkless before One-for-All was handed down to me by Nana." Toshinori said, before he was forced to bend over as Kaen hit him in the gut with a punch.
"All Might." Izumi gasped.
"What was that for son?" All Might questioned.
"I'm confused to." Izumi said.
"So let me see if I got this right." Kaen said, Toshinori backing away from him as he tried to catch his breath. "Back on the roof, when Izumi first learned your secret, and asked you if someone who's Quirkless, could still become a hero, you brushed her off and crushed her dreams, when you said no, even though you most likely, asked Nana the same question when you first met her, and were Quirkless yourself?"
"Alright… I see why you're mad, and I understand." Toshinori said, straightening himself out. "Yes, I will admit that I asked Nana the same question around the same time of my life as Midoriya, but I only wanted to keep your friend safe. However, the courage she showed that day, is what drove me to choose her to become my successor."
"You're a real piece of work, you know that?" Kaen questioned, marching off to the tunnel he'd leave from.
"Oh no." Toshinori sighed.
"What's wrong?"
"When Kaen gets like this, it usually results in him not speaking to me for an uncertain amount of time. I might have just blown it big time with revealing I was Quirkless myself." Toshinori groaned.
"How long does this usually last? He's never mentioned anything like this to me." Izumi said.
"How long it'll last usually depends on the topic of what caused the anger and silence in the first place." Toshinori stated. "I think he's not gonna be talking to me, for quite a while."
~Arena~
"Alright ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the Semi Finals to begin. Our first fighter, the Hurricane of Pain, the Primate of Primal Rage, Kaen Yagi." Present Mic called out, as Kaen came out of the tunnel. "His opponent, the brilliant, the quick, the flashy, Ruby Rose." He announced as Ruby came out of the opposite tunnel, and to her end of the arena.
"Fighters, are you ready?" Midnight called out.
"Rose." Kaen called to her. "I want you to not take what happens next personal. I'm just a bit ticked off right now."
"I won't." Ruby smiled, getting in a fighting stance.
"Begin."
Once Midnight called for the match to begin, Ruby blasted herself at Kaen, with rockets propelling her forward, as she became covered in a flurry of rose petals. As she neared Kaen, he did something she didn't expect of him. Sidestepping, Kaen evaded Ruby, and grabbed her by the back of her tracksuit. Carrying the momentum, Kaen spun Ruby around, making her dizzy, before he threw her over the edge of the arena, and out of bounds.
With the flurry of rose petals leaving her, Ruby was lying face first into the dirt, with her eyes looking like giant swirls.
"Rose is out of bounds. The winner is Kaen Yagi." Midnight declared.
"You okay Rose?" Kaen asked, giving her a helping hand.
"I'm fine." Ruby said accepting his help.
"Sorry that I was so aggressive."
"Something going on with family?"
"You could tell?"
"I could tell. Coming from a bit of a broken family myself, it's easy to spot someone who's angry with their own." Ruby smiled. "Wanna talk about it?"
"It's nothing. I'm just angry with my dad." Kaen said heading off through the tunnel. "I'll see you later Rose."
"If you're sure." Ruby said, her eyes on his retreating back.
As she returned through the tunnel she came out of, she stopped when she saw Yang standing there, with her arms crossed.
"Yang, hey. I guess your battle's next huh?" Ruby smiled.
"Why do you look so down? I know you lost, but losing a fight isn't something that normally gets you down like this." Yang said.
"It's Kaen."
"What about him?"
"I wanna help him, something's going on between him and his dad, but he doesn't wanna talk about it." Ruby stated.
"Heh, that's just like you sis. Always concerned about others when they're having trouble." Yang smiled. "Don't worry, I'll be fighting against him in the finals. So I'll be sure to knock some sense into him for ya."
"Don't go overboard sis." Ruby sighed. "I'm sure this is just one of those things, that needs to take care of itself without intervention."
"Still, I'm gonna give him a pounding to avenge your defeat." Yang smirked.
"Shut up. I'm not even in the hero course." Ruby chuckled.
"Now, let me hear ya folks. Please welcome our next fighters, she's the Acid Queen of Mean, Mina Ashido." Present Mic's voice echoed from the arena.
"That's my cue." Yang smiled, walking past Ruby.
"Good luck sis." Ruby cheered.
"Verses her opponent, the Queen of Dragons, the fiery fists of purgatory. Yang Xiao Long." Present Mic's voice rang out as Yang stepped into the light.
"This is gonna be an awesome fight." Yang smiled cracking her knuckles as she walked onto the arena.
"Begin." Midnight called out.
~A/N~
I'm gonna be taking a break from the One Piece Spinoff, to give Saiyan Heroes of U.A a chance to catch up to where I'm going with it.
Also, if someone asks me one more time about Monoma, and seeing him punished, I swear to God, I will stop writing this story and just focus on the One Piece Spinoff, or create another Spinoff.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter, and I'll catch you all later.
