Tally woke to Sarah brushing out her long black hair humming a song that seemed so familiar yet she was sure she'd never heard it before.
"Good morning," Sarah smiled as she set her brush down, all dressed in civilian clothes again and came to sit on the bed, "How would you like to go visit the fosterlings with me today?"
Stretching Tally sat up and yawned, "Are you sure? I don't want to get in the way or anything."
"Tally, I think if anyone would be good with kids it'd be you, I know you have other plans but this won't take all day," Sarah looked at her with pleading eyes.
How could Tally refuse her when she looked at her like that? Like seriously, who taught her to look at her like that?
"Okay, I'd love to," she leaned in and gave her a peck on the lips.
"Good, now get dressed, we'll get you fed on the way," Sarah went back to brushing her hair and putting it into a braid.
Tally snuck up behind her and hugged her from behind, her hand going under her shirt. Sarah stiffened at the touch, "Tally, think of the children."
"I am thinking of the children," she pulled her hand away and went to grab her clothes and ran into the bathroom to change and brush her teeth.
As soon as she exited the bathroom Sarah had her hair braided and her peacoat thrown on, a similar coat being held in her arms as she waited for Tally to put her shoes on.
"Did you get that coat for me?" Tally smiled as she stood and allowed Sarah to help her into the coat.
"I bought it for you while I was out yesterday, do you not like it?"
"Oh, no, I love it. We're matching!" the redhead brought her down into another kiss, "Thank you."
They stopped by the mess hall, the pair of them and the biddies, and while quickly eating breakfast Tally explained to Raelle and Abi where they were headed. Apologizing and promising to catch up with them later, they just shrugged it off, of course after Tally forced hugs on both of them. Both of them staring at Alder.
Alder glared back, "Don't look at me, I'm not hugging you."
Abigail looked at her smug, "We didn't want hugs from you anyways, that'd be kind of creepy. Besides Tally gives the best hugs," Abigail snuggled her closer.
"Okay, we're done here, come along Tally."
Alder pulled her coat on and held Tally's coat out to her as she reluctantly let the girls go, "Okay, sorry guys, I'll see you later. Oh, can you take care of that," she pointed to all the plates as she put her coat on and walked out the door with Alder and the biddies in tow.
"I really hate them," Abigail glared at their retreating backs.
Raelle just shook her head, "It's okay we'll get them back later for it."
Once Sarah and Tally made it to the fosterlings care house, Tally was surprised at how all the kids flocked to Sarah. The little "General Sarah's" coming out of their mouths was too cute to Tally. Although I guess none of them knew she was no longer the General.
Tally watched as Sarah picked up one of the little girls in her arms who shyly looked at Tally, "Whose that?" the little girl pointed in Tally's direction.
Sarah turned to look at Tally and then looked back to the little girl in her arms, "That is Tally, she's my wife, would you like to say hello?"
The little girl nodded shyly and Tally just smiled with how cute this whole situation was, she had no idea that Sarah was so good with children. But she walked over to the pair of them and smiled brightly at the little girl, "Hello, I'm Tally, what's your name?"
The little girl looked back at Sarah, "Go on, it's okay."
"My names Elizabeth, hi Tally," the little girl quickly buried her shy face in Sarah's shoulder.
Sarah laughed and put the girl down to run along with the other children, meeting Tally's smiling eyes, "What?"
"I'm just surprised, I had no idea you were so good with the fosterlings."
Sarah smiled and nodded her head at that statement, "Yes, well, they are the future and their parents gave their lives for their futures. The least I could do was come to see them and do it without my general persona. But I guess now more than ever that seems to be the case."
Tally winced at that but it faded but before she could say anything she was being dragged away by the kids. They spent the next few hours indulging the children, playing with them and teaching them little things. The biddies had a field day with them as well. By the time they had to part, little Elizabeth was clinging to Tally and didn't want her to go. Tally gave her a hug and promised to come back again soon.
As they walked back hand in hand Sarah kept noticing Tally glancing over at her, "What?"
"Did you ever want kids?"
"I don't know, I don't think I ever had the chance to think about it. You know that when I lost the ability to have children a very long time ago. Every witch born has been like my own child," Sarah squeezed her hand to reassure it wasn't something to be sad about, "Do you want children? I never stopped to think that you may have wanted that I took that from you."
Tally thought about it, "I'm not sure, I'm still young, I haven't thought about it either. But I'm not opposed to the idea of having children but you're my wife so unless there's some magickal way for us to have kids then I'd be just as content with raising the fosterlings with you. If that was something you wanted. I mean we don't even know what the future will be or if we'll even find a way for you to no longer need biddies."
Sarah stopped and hugged her to calm her before she started to have a panic attack, "It's alright, we'll figure things out. One step at a time. Besides I think we have our hands full with babysitting your unit as it is."
Tally laughed and hugged her tighter, "Speaking of, I shouldn't keep them waiting any longer, they'll get cranky."
"Bellweather was right, you really do give the best hugs," Sarah laughed and kissed her on the head before letting her go.
"You're just saying that because I'm the only one to have hugged you in how long?"
Sarah rolled her eyes, "Which makes you the best."
Tally just bumped her shoulder with her own before taking her hand in hers again and walking back in comfortable silence.
