UA's Saiyan Heroes
"Man, these last few days were brutal." Kirishima groaned.
"Don't remind us." Katsumi complained. "We spent the first few days practicing the Fusion Dance so we could have it down to muscle memory, and then once we had the fusion down perfectly each time we did them, we spent the rest of our break, training in combat as our fusions to better strengthen our abilities."
"On the plus side, at least we know Amaterasu can handle 100% of Izumi's power with out any sort of backlash like how it normally happens." Kaen said.
"I was surprised about that." Mina said.
"So, what is your sister working on to help improve the fusions during battle?" Katsumi asked.
"If I understood her correctly, it's something that should make the fusions last longer then thirty minutes." Kaen said.
"That's useful how?" Katsumi asked.
"Think about it Kacchan. If we end up facing off against an opponent that's stronger then our fusions, then it could spill out past the thirty minute mark." Izumi stated.
"No way anyone could be stronger then me when we're fused." Katsumi smirked. "I'm a total badass and in control when we're one."
"Actually, your mentalities are more of a perfect balance of the two." Kaen said. "You're like dark chocolate and caramel marshmallow treats. The bitterness of the chocolate, that's Katsumi, is perfectly balanced out with the sweetness of the caramel, that's Izumi, and when you combine the two, they create the perfect blend of bitter and sweet, and the fusion that brings those two together, is the marshmallow."
"Leave it to a Saiyan to use a food analogy for that explanation." Mina giggled.
"What's funny?" Kaen asked.
"You can be such a dork sometimes babe, but you're my dork." Mina smiled, hugging his arm.
"Kaen, I don't wanna pressure you or anything, but when exactly, are you gonna start the dating thing with all the girls?" Izumi asked.
"Huh?" Katsumi asked. "What's this I'm hearing?"
"Fourteen other girls wanna get in his pants and be part of a harem, but he can't handle that many." Mina said. "So we're gonna go on double dates with them, and decide who will stay and who will go. Unfortunately, that means breaking the hearts of twelve of them."
"Oh, you're quite the ladies man, aren't ya?" Katsumi teased. "An' to think, you even pulled Deku into this little game of yours."
"Knock it off Kacchan." Deku blushed.
"To answer your question Izumi, the first date was decided last night, you and Ruby will be the first to go on the double dates with Mina and I." Kaen said. "An' the first date, will take place in a week, on Saturday."
"Right, okay." Izumi said, blushing at the thought of going on the double date.
"Enough chatting about this harem thing, let's get going to class or Mr. Aizawa's gonna have our heads." Kirishima stated, running off in a hurry.
~Class~
"The Hero Work Studies are a more serious version of your internships." Aizawa said as all students were gathered in the classroom. "They entail helping pro agencies on the streets, and with investigations. Your teachers and the Principal discussed them at the faculty meeting, and we all agree. It's too soon, they should really be canceled."
"WHAT?" The whole class questioned, even Kaen was taken aback by this.
"Aw, but we already met about them." Kirishima said.
"I guess when you think about why we had to move into the dorms, it does make sense." Kaminari said.
"If I can't join a hero on a mission during work studies, then I won't be able to find Eri. I need to go on this work study program." Kaen said.
"Haha." Katsumi cheered.
"Shut up Katsumi. You're only cheering because you failed the Licensing Exam during the attack from Frostita." Kaen said, causing her to flinch and freeze up.
"However, some people think we won't be able to raise strong heroes with that sort of protective outlook." Aizawa continued. "An' with that in mind, the compromise is to be selective about which agencies we allow to participate in this program. So, choose one with a proven track record of working with U.A. Otherwise you won't be taking part."
"Sounds like a fair compromise to me." Kaen said, leaning on his hand. "I can make recommendations to anybody needing one, just be sure to come to me if you're unable to go to your Internship Agencies."
~After Class~
"Tell me again why I had to tag along with you?" Kaen asked Izumi.
"I'm needing your help if All Might refuses." Izumi said, as they went into the staff room.
"Ah, Kaen, Young Midoriya, what can I do for the both of you this fine day?" Toshinori asked, while turning his attention to a request form from one of the students.
"All Might, I'm wanting to participate in the Work Studies. An' I want you to introduce me, to your former sidekick." Izumi said.
"Wait, you want me to introduce you to Sir Nighteye, for the Work Studies Program?" Toshinori asked, looking at her in shock.
"This is why I'm here?" Kaen groaned.
"Yes! Since he's one of the few heroes who've worked under you, it's a perfect fit." Izumi stated.
"Shhh." All Might silenced her.
"Izumi, you're drawing too much attention to us." Kaen groaned.
"I'm most surprised about you coming to me for this Kaen? I thought you cut ties with him after his espionage mission for you went south?" Toshinori asked.
"Don't look at me, I'm happy finding someone else, and I could meet him on my own if I wanted to, but I don't wanna contact him myself, and I don't have much of a choice, since he's the only hero I know, who's been working on a case against Overhaul's group for a couple years now." Kaen said.
"I see." Toshinori said. "So, Sir Nighteye huh? I wonder who could have put that thought into your head? No, of course, you wanted to be proactive and called Gran Torino didn't you?"
"Yes Sir." Izumi said bowing to him.
"Well I refuse." Toshinori stated firmly.
"But why?" Izumi asked looking at him.
"I'm not saying that to punish you, far from it." Toshinori began as he fully turned to them. "I have three reasons. First up, I opposed Work Studies in the Faculty Meeting yesterday. I think it's unnecessary for First Years to start them so early."
"I agree." Thirteen said.
"I say we just support any hungry students who want to go the extra mile." Midnight said.
"Reason two. You need to work on your shoot style, both of you are needing to work on the new adaptations to your fighting styles. Let's master those before either of you start doing extra hero work." Toshinori stated.
"They're both putting in a lot of extra training already." Ectoplasm said.
"But there's still plenty of room for improvement, before they can use them reliably." Cementous added.
"An' third. Sir Nighteye… I just don't wanna have to talk to the guy." All Might said.
"Same here." Kaen stated.
"All Might." Izumi said, standing up straight. "Kacchan told me that I'm not allowed to lose, since someone like you laid the groundwork for me. An' think about it, my Quirk is so similar to yours, Kaen's too. If we're working for Nighteye, he'll know exactly how to help us improve them. I need to get so much stronger then I am now, I've got more work to do then anyone."
"Look, I appreciate your passion. But I can't introduce you to him." Toshinori stated. "Emphasis on, I."
"Wait, you're not thinking of who I think you are, are you?" Kaen asked.
~Faculty Counseling Office~
"Aw, yeah. You. Are. Here!" Togata cheered, sitting next to Kaen and Izumi, with Toshinori across from them.
"Nice enthusiasm but could you calm yourself and take it down a notch?" Kaen asked.
"Sorry! Couldn't help myself." Togata said. "I just got super excited you wanted to talk to me."
"Um, I don't really understand what's going on right now." Izumi said.
"Right? I'm completely clueless too." Togata stated.
"It's kinda obvious actually." Kaen sighed. "He's a Third Year in the Hero Course, and is currently doing his Work Studies at Sir Nighteye's Agency."
"That's right." Toshinori nodded.
"Whoa seriously? That's so cool." Izumi stated.
"Yep, I've been working alongside him for a full year now." Togata said.
"Then you've got a pretty awesome shot at being his official sidekick when you graduate." Izumi said, looking awe inspired.
"Well as long as Sir doesn't change his mind, yeah." Togata said.
"That's awesome." Izumi smiled.
"Alright I'm gonna get straight to the point here." Toshinori stated. "Tell me Young Togata, do you honestly believe these First Years, have what it takes to work beside you at the Agency?"
"Oh, now I hear ya. That's what you called me in here to talk about huh? You want me to take Midoriya and Yagi to introduce them, is that it?" Togata asked. "But I don't really understand, couldn't he just go to Sir himself since he probably grew up around him?"
"It's complicated and personal, so don't ask." Kaen said.
"Well, I've seen Yagi fighting on the news, I even saw the fight of him and that Yakuza guy from the battle in the Suicide Forest. So I do believe he has what it takes. But as for Midoriya…" Togata paused and looked at Izumi. "Why don't you tell me what kind of hero, you want to be?"
"What kind?" Izumi asked, giving it some thought as she recalled the memory of when her dreams were first denied. "I want to save people with a smile and… I want to be strong so I won't worry people. I want to always win, and save everybody. I want to become the greatest. Got it?"
Her words made Togata look at her in shock, while Kaen just smiled, expecting nothing less from her.
"Wow, that was a lot." Togata said, before giving her a thumbs up. "There's no reason for me to say no though. So yeah!"
"You mean it? Oh wow, thank you so, so much." Izumi cheered.
"Sure, I always figured Sir would take a liking to you anyway." Togata said.
"I hope he does, but not in a creepy kind of way since I'm a teenaged girl." Izumi said.
"Don't get too psyched. Yagi is one thing, but I don't know if Sir will agree to take you on." Togata said.
"Of course, but still I'm very grateful." Izumi said.
As the two of them kept chatting, Kaen couldn't help but notice how his dad was looking off in the distance.
"Izumi, since we're done here, would you mind giving my dad and I a moment alone to talk?" Kaen asked.
"Oh, of course." Izumi said.
"Gotta have that father/son bonding time after school." Togata added as they got up and left.
The moment the doors closed, Kaen looked to Toshinori, and asked him a straightforward question.
"Be honest with me dad." Kaen said. "If I had said no to accepting One-for-All from you, and you hadn't offered it to Izumi, would you have offered it to Togata?"
Toshinori just looked at Kaen, not even surprised Kaen figured out that's what he was thinking, and the silence he gave in response to Kaen's question, was all the answer his son needed.
"I'm guessing it was the Principal who suggested him to you." Kaen said.
"How'd you figure it out?" Toshinori asked.
"You only get that far off look in your eye, when you think back on a decision you could have made in your past, but didn't. An' since Togata was the only one in the room who didn't know about One-for-All, I figured it had to be about him." Kaen said.
"I don't care what anyone says about your smarts Kaen. You're a genius in your own right." Toshinori said with a light chuckle.
"So, what changed your mind to skip over me, and ignore Togata completely?" Kaen asked.
"Midoriya did." Toshinori stated. "Seeing her risk her life that day, I knew that it was her I had to give my power too. Anyone else besides you, and it would have been a waste of time and effort."
"Hmm. Well you made the right choice." Kaen said. "In my opinion anyway."
"Wish Nighteye felt the same." Toshinori sighed.
"He knows about One-for-All?" Kaen asked.
"He does, because he broke the one rule I gave him, and that was never to use his Quirk on me." Toshinori stated. "When I called him, to let him know, he tried pleading with me to change my mind and to give his candidate a chance."
"But your mind was already made up on the matter huh?" Kaen sighed, before getting up. "Well, I'll be sure to keep his usual tricks away from Izumi."
"No doubt, he's gonna try and convince her that she's not worthy of my power, simply because she was Quirkless." Toshinori said.
"An' it's that closed mindedness that drove me to never getting along with him, even when he was your Sidekick." Kaen sighed.
"If he does do that, you have my permission to handle it anyway you see fit." Toshinori said, giving Kaen a card.
"Thanks. I think it'll come in handy." Kaen stated.
~Weekend~
"A whole day to ourselves huh?" Kaminari questioned, brushing his teeth while talking to some of the others in the common area, wearing a blindfold.
"It's about damn time in my opinion. After all these exams, and extra courses with special training, we finally have a break, and can take it easy for once." Yang said, standing at the counter in the mini-kitchen, drinking a cup of coffee, dressed in her pajamas.
"Kaminari, what's the purpose of wearing a blindfold while brushing your teeth?" Tokoyami asked.
"I peeked on Yang while she was topless once, and she threatened to kill me if she caught me peeking again, or wearing her pajamas." Kaminari said.
"I can see why." Kirishima said, turning away from the blonde brawler with a blush. "She's dressed in nothing more then a loose top and shorts."
"Don't describe what I'm wearing to him." Yang said as she walked off. "I'm heading back to my room anyways. I've got some alterations to my costume I need to go over before I can start my Work Studies."
"Morning." Izumi said as she rushed by, with her Quirk active as she ran.
"Izumi, don't use your Quirk just to get going. Togata's not going anywhere without us." Kaen said, following close behind from the mens side of the dorms. "Morning everyone."
"Morning hot stuff." Yang smiled with a wink.
Heading out, following Izumi to the gates, the two first years met Togata there, and it looked like he was ready to go as well.
"Ready to get going?" Togata asked.
"About as ready as I am to get my teeth pulled." Kaen groaned with a sigh. "Let's just get this over with."
~An Hour Train Ride Later~
"I'm already regretting this." Kaen stated, as they stepped up to the agency.
"Well this is it, Sir Nighteye's Agency. But of course you already knew that, didn't you Yagi?" Togata asked.
"Just call me Kaen, I'm not too big on formalities of honorifics." Kaen said. "Come on Izumi, we'd better get this over with."
"Right." Izumi said.
"Try to be loose around Nighteye. He's big on formalities, but bigger on having a sense of humor." Kaen said.
"But don't be too loose okay? Kaen's right about Sir being big on fun, but he's also a pretty strict guy." Togata said.
"I'm fully aware." Izumi said. "He's a hero famous for being pretty demanding, on others as well as himself. His gaze is so harsh, that it makes me shiver every time I see him on TV. He looks so severe."
"That's absolutely true. Though there's rumors that only one person has been able to defy his gaze, and stand their ground in front of him. Even the villains are terrified of his gaze." Togata said.
"That'd be me." Kaen stated. "Even as a kid, I never once was intimidated by his gaze. To me, my older brothers gaze was way more terrifying."
"However, there's a totally different side to him that the press never gets to see." Togata continued. "If you wanna be acknowledged by him, here's a tip. You Midoriya, have to do one important thing at this meeting. You gotta make him laugh, then he'll totally approve of you."
"Kaen already notified me that I might have to do that, and I've already prepared a few jokes for this." Izumi said.
"Oh, well I guess it's a good thing Kaen's around." Togata said, leading them into the office. "The reason why I say this, is because while Sir sounds stern, he really values humor for some reason, just as Kaen said. It's like irony or something, I think. The most I can do's introduce you to him. Sir's the one who'll decide if he can use you. No doubt he'll approve of Kaen the instant he walks in the door. I wish I could help more, but that's all I got. From here on, you'll have to figure out how to make Sir acknowledge you, yourself."
"I've been meaning to ask. Why is it you seem to know so much about me, even though we just basically met?" Izumi inquired.
"What are you talking about? I don't know you at all." Togata said.
"Yet you seem to talk and act around Izumi, like you've known her for years." Kaen said. "Kinda sus if you ask me."
"Get your head out of the gutter man. All I really know, is you and Midoriya both have a crazy ambitious goal, and you're fighting hard to turn it into a reality." Togata said.
"It's Izumi's goal to be the Greatest Hero this world has ever seen, like my dad. My goal, is to be the Pillar of Hope, and the Symbol of Peace, throughout the universe and bring balance back to it, after taking out the Frost Demon Empire." Kaen stated.
"That's the Empire Frostita was a part of, wasn't it?" Izumi asked.
"It was, and her nephew Cooler, is gonna be here sometime around Mid-November early December, if my math is right about the timetable I made from the speed it took Frostita to get here, since the I-Island incident." Kaen stated.
"Enough doom and gloom you two. We're here." Togata said, as they reached the door to Nighteye's office. "He's just beyond this door. If you wanna get stronger, then walk on through."
"I can sense someone else's Ki. He's not alone in there." Kaen said.
"It's probably Bubble-Girl or Centipeder. I don't think he was scheduled to meet with another hero today." Togata said, as Izumi opened the door. "Heyo, I brought the first years I mentioned yesterday."
Inside, Kaen and Izumi were shocked, as they saw a tall lengthy man with green and yellow hair, wearing a suit and glasses, looking at a blue skinned girl, strapped to a machine that was tickling her sides with long pink feather dusters.
"What kind of place is this?" Izumi questioned, hugging herself out of safety. "Is he gonna do that to me too?"
"See, this is how loud and energetic you can be." Nighteye said, as Bubble-Girl struggled to break free of her torture.
"Stop. Please." Bubble-Girl pleaded as she cried. "I'm gonna pee myself."
"Sasaki." Kaen said, raising his voice. "I'm pretty sure, doing something like this to your sidekicks, would require a call to HR."
Nighteye turned to look at Kaen and Izumi, looking at them both with Izumi flinching, forcing herself to stop as she instinctively tried to go hide behind Kaen, while the Saiyan just stood there unphased.
"Kaen. It's good to see you again." Nighteye said. "But what have I told you about saying my real name aloud?"
"Not to do it in public, but we're not in public." Kaen said, raising his hand revealing he was holding an acceptance paper, just as a stamp was thrown at his hand, and Nighteye's mark was left on box of the contract, signifying he accepted Kaen for the Work Study. "Figured you were gonna do that."
"Well, you are the son of my former mentor after all, it would be a disservice to him if I refused your application to work under me for the Work Study." Nighteye said, catching his stamp as Kaen threw it back at him.
"You know I'm not the only one here to work under you for a Work Study." Kaen said.
"I am Izumi Midoriya." The heroine said, causing Kaen to flinch as she did an impression of All Might's hero face, and voice, making it more feminine sounding, while it didn't match the face.
"Idiot." Kaen groaned. "You just sunk your chances of your Work Studies being approved, in the River Styx."
"What?" Izumi questioned, her face returning to normal.
"What is this girl?" Nighteye questioned, stepping up to her. "Are you ridiculing All Might? The nerve."
"Hands off Sasaki." Kaen said, pulling Izumi away from Nighteye's grasp as he tried to grab her face. "She might be of legal consenting age here in Japan, but you're not her type."
"Funny. You know as well as I that sort of thing wasn't my intention." Nighteye said.
"Hey Izumi look." Kaen said, pointing to the wall. "You're not the only one with a 10Anniversay Poster that was never on sale for the public."
"How does she have one?" Nighteye asked.
"I gave it to her as a birthday gift when we were little." Kaen stated. "That has nothing to do with the here and now."
"I don't care for this one bit." Nighteye said before looking at Izumi. "You can see yourself out." He stated, turning to walk away from her.
"The Vinegar River incident." Izumi said.
"Hmm?" Nighteye looked over his shoulder at her.
"Are you not aware of it Sir?" Izumi asked. "A middle schooler who's Quirk allowed him to change the properties of water, was drowning in a river in Minato Tokyo. But All Might stepped in and saved him. The drowning kid panicked and accidentally turned that area of the river into vinegar. Which, obviously, ended up getting in All Might's eyes. His face looked slightly different from normal after. That smile, those narrowed eyes, that's the look I chose to impersonate earlier."
"I know this rescue, although it took place before I teamed up with him, and I believe they mentioned it briefly on the widely-run television special entitled, A Look Back." Nighteye said.
'I get it now. You're no good at humor, so you chose to show your whit and knowledge of All Might to gain his favor instead.' Kaen thought. 'Eh, who am I kidding. Since moving into the dorms, she hasn't had a chance to geek out about his once, and just started blabbing about it because she could.'
"Yes I love that show. I know there weren't any villains involved, so some people think it was a boring save. I'm sure that's why the fans don't talk about it much, but I really like it for some reason!" Izumi said getting all giddy with talking about All Might. "Honestly, I think the best part of the whole thing is the witty response he gave after being thanked by the kid he rescued."
"I'm the one who should be thanking you. My skin feels ten years younger." Nighteye and Izumi said in unison.
"You two are a couple peas in a pod." Kaen said.
"That's it. It's the perfect one-liner." Izumi smiled.
"Now I see, you were just testing me." Nighteye said.
"What? Oh, no. It's just that since All Might is a teacher at my school, and since moving into the dorms, I never really get a chance to geek out about him. I maybe got a little excited."
'Knew it.' Kaen thought.
"As I recall, it turned out the child's volatile home life was to blame." Nighteye said stepping back up to her.
"That's right. An' that made All Might's actions and words carry even more weight I bet." Izumi said.
"Now that we've gotten introductions out of the way, let's get down to business." Kaen said.
"Straight to the point as usual." Nighteye said, going and sitting behind his desk, with Kaen guiding Izumi to stand in front of it. "Now girl, tell me why you're here."
"I would like… to do my Work Studies here at your Agency sir." Izumi stated. "I want to become strong, and I want to be the greatest hero the world's ever known. So I thought where better then the Agency of All Might's former Sidekick."
"Interesting." Nighteye said, twirling his fingers around. "You want to do a Work Study here, because you think in doing so, you'll become stronger."
"Yes, Sir! Please let me!" Izumi said, bowing to him.
"We'd need to draw up a contract, just like the one I signed for Kaen." Nighteye said.
"Of course. I have one here." Izumi said, rummaging through her bag.
"You will not interrupt me while I'm speaking to you."
"Sorry, Sir." Izumi said, pulling the contract out and putting it on the desk in front of Nighteye.
"Once I stamp this document, you'll officially be contracted with my Agency for a Work Study." Nighteye said.
"Yes, Sir." Izumi said, bowing to him.
"You have to understand, that this will be nothing like the week-long internships that you students take on so casually." Nighteye said.
"Didn't seem so casual to me when I did mine." Kaen scoffed with a smile.
"You must work here for a minimum of four months and will be paid wages, however your academic responsibilities will likely suffer due to absences you'll rack up. Which means your classmates will pull ahead of you." Nighteye said.
"All Might convinced Principal Nezu to have the teachers to send out assignment to student on a Work Study to work on in their free time and keep up with their academics." Kaen said.
Nighteye looked to Kaen, then back to Izumi, before raising his stamp and bringing it down. Seeing its trajectory, Kaen pretended to sneeze as he gave a light flick reinforced with Saiyan's Wrath, sending a bit of air pressure at the desk, and blew the contract over a bit, milliseconds before the stamp slammed on the desk, and put Nighteye's seal in the box, and agreeing to Izumi's contract, making his eye twitch before looking at Kaen, as he was just whistling innocently while blowing his nose.
"You did that on purpose." Nighteye said.
"Did what? All I did was sneeze." Kaen retorted with a sniffle.
"Midoriya, you're free to go. Mirio and Bubble-Girl, you two wait outside with her. I'd like to have a chat with Kaen in private." Nighteye said, filing away the contract.
"Right." Bubble-Girl and Togata said before leaving, Izumi following behind them as Kaen took her place in front of Nighteye's desk.
Once they were gone, Nighteye just looked dead on at Kaen.
"Let's be frank here. I was never gonna disapprove of Midoriya joining the ranks of my Agency, but you just made it easier for her." Nighteye said.
"Like I said, all I did was sneeze." Kaen said.
"I see…" Nighteye said skeptically. "Kaen, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but there's a secret to your fathers power, one only a select few, including Midoriya know."
"Oh you mean how his power is called One-for-All and how it's able to be passed down from user to user, and how All-for-One was the creator of it with his little brother being the first user?" Kaen asked sarcastically. "No, none of that rings a bell."
"Quit playing games Kaen." Nighteye said. "Look, the only damn reason I'm taking that girl on for her Work Study, is to prove that she isn't worthy of All Might's power, and that it should have gone to you or Togata instead. I thought you'd agree with my decision."
"I'm gonna stop you right there Sasaki." Kaen said, slamming his hand on the desk, Saiyan's Wrath coursing through him, with electricity flying off his arm, taking Nighteye by surprise. "That's not your call to make. It was dad's. An' he gave me permission to put a stop to your attempts of discouraging Izumi, no matter what."
Turning off his Quirk, Kaen pulled out a card from his pocket and put it on the desk, next to the imprint of his hand that was there. The card had a picture of All Might on it, with his hand up and out in the stopping motion, with the word, stop, written in big bold kanji next to the image.
"Have a nice day Sasaki." Kaen said, turning to leave.
"Hold it Kaen." Nighteye said, stopping Kaen as he began walking away. "That power. It was One-for-All. How do you have it if Midoriya has it?"
"Simple, the history of One-for-All's creation, repeated itself with Celeron and I, during the USJ Incident." Kaen stated, before he began walking away. "Now let us know if we have a mission today. If not, there's something you and I need to talk about involving your case against the Shie Hassaikai."
~ Underground Masquerade~
"It was a good haul tonight." Jack, the fight promoter, said counting the money he made in the fights. "But things have been slow since the kid left. Hope he's doing well."
"If I didn't know any better old man, I'd say you actually cared about him."
Jack looked up from counting the money, to see one of his old fighters, coming in with a new mask, and a familiar masked face client of his, with a third more slender cloak wearing man, with a similar mask to Rappa's and a broad brim hat.
"Rappa, Overhaul. What a surprise, what brings you two here?" Jack inquired. "Wanting to join back up with the ring?"
"As much as I'd love to, we're here on business." Rappa said. "We need all the information you have on Saiya."
"Saiya?" Jack asked surprised. "Hasn't been back since the night he took the champion belt from you. What do you want him for?"
"I'd like to hire him for a job." Overhaul stated. "I think he'd made a fine addition to my guard."
"Last I checked, he refused your offer in the ring, and even kicked your ass when he agreed to your little wager of a fight." Jack stated.
"True, but I doubt he's gonna refuse my offer this time, when I make it worth his while." Overhaul said. "Who and where is he?"
"I ain't telling ya shit." Jack said.
"Shin."
The lengthy cloaked man stepped up to Jack, and looked right at him.
"You see, Shin here has a very interesting Quirk called, Confession. It forces whoever he targets to confess the honest answer to the question he asks." Overhaul stated.
"Who is Saiya, and where can we find him?" Shin questioned Jack.
Jack tried to resist the effects of Shin's Quirk, even going so far as to grit his teeth and hold tight to his desk.
"Fine. I don't know who Saiya is, nor do I know where he lives." Jack said. "I don't keep records of those sorts of things, and if my fighters refuse to give me their names, I'm perfectly fine with using an alias of their choosing."
"Do you know how to contact Saiya?" Shin asked.
"No need to use your Quirk on me for that one. I used the same method I use with all my fighters to contact him. My Quirk Burner, allows for me to telepathically contact any target I have in mind, unfortunately it only works if I've used it on that target once within a two month time frame, sort of like how a burner phone has a limited frame of time to be used, before it expires." Jack said.
"So you can't contact him?" Rappa asked.
"Sorry, but you're outta luck with this lead fellas." Jack said.
"Thank you for your time, I appreciate it." Overhaul said, leaving a wad of cash on the desk, as he turned to leave, with Rappa and Shin following.
Taking the money and looking over it, Jack wasn't amused when he found a listening device within the stuffed wad.
"This ain't my first rodeo pal." Jack said, crushing the bug and putting the wad in the led lined vault behind him. "You can't out-fox the fox."
Making sure no one else was around, Jack reached into his desk drawer, and pulled out a burner phone. Debating on whether or not it would be a smart idea to call his star fighter now, or wait a bit until the coast was clear.
~Nighteye's Office the Following Day~
"Today we will be doing patrols and surveillance." Nighteye said, addressing his three Work Studies in their hero costumes, and Bubble-Girl. "You'll split up into two teams. Kaen, you'll be with Bubble-Girl, and Mirio you'll be with Midoriya, while I go solo."
"Surveillance?" Izumi asked.
"The Nighteye Agency is currently running an investigation into the Yakuza Group, Shie Hassaikai. If you recall, I've had a hand in the earlier work, as well as a couple unfavorable run-ins with them." Kaen said.
"Oh that's right, it's a small organized crime syndicate. Their leader's name is Kai Chisaki, and even though he's its second in command, he's running the shots due to an unknown leave of absence from the first in command." Izumi said.
"You seem well informed." Bubble-Girl said.
"Kaen filled me on about it after his run-ins with them." Izumi explained.
"What neither of you know, is he's been behaving strangely lately." Nighteye said. "That plague mask is his trademark."
"Normally, there isn't much trouble with organized crime these days, but the Shie Hassaikai has managed to slip undetected under the radar for a while now." Kaen said. "An' because of that, the police were unable to at first notice as he was gathering the big groups back together. It's still unclear why, but we can't let our guard down about this for a second."
"The details are unclear, but we do know he made contact with the League of Villains recently."
"The incident at the abandoned warehouse?" Kaen asked.
"Yes." Nighteye said. "Unfortunately, aside from the few charges he's faced and paid for, we don't have any solid proof linking him to anything criminal or villainous yet. Hassaikai works in a legal grey area that's close to black, but we can't treat them like villains, not just yet. We've also learned that he's employed the aid of disgraced and insane Bio-Engineer Shou Tucker, who's wanted for inhumane experiments, and even using his own wife and daughter in two of them, creating human based chimeras. His wife was used in an experiment with a boar, who later died after refusing to eat and self starvation, while he used his daughter in an experiment with the family dog, claiming it was all in the name of human evolution, and vanished with millions of dollars worth of research before he could face justice. Unfortunately, we don't have any physical proof linking them to one another, just speculation and hearsay."
"I know it's true." Kaen said. "I've been in the mind of one of his subordinates, and I saw Tucker and his daughter as he tore him apart to turn him into a chimera."
"Be that as it may, it's not physical proof." Nighteye said, showing them Chisaki's picture. "So keep on your guard. Our job is to only tail them, and find out what their objective truly is, and I don't wanna hear anymore rumors about it Kaen." He stated, stopping Kaen from speaking up again. "Be careful not to arouse any suspicion."
"Yes Sir."
"Sasaki." Kaen said as the others headed for the door. "I can tell you exactly what he wants to do."
"I just said I don't wanna hear anymore rumors."
"It's not a rumor, if it came straight from Chisaki's mouth." Kaen stated.
"We don't have time for your foolish antics. You're dismissed. Get to patrolling." Nighteye stated.
"Right." Kaen said, leaving with Bubble-Girl as she waited for him.
~Streets~
"Hey, look. Heroes." A bystander gasped, pointing to Midoriya and Togata as she spotted them. "That's the girl from the U.A Sports Festival."
"This is sort of nerve-wracking." Izumi said, as they passed the bystanders.
"What gives? You went out on patrol during your internship didn't you?" Togata asked. "Though I guess I can't blame you for being shaken after what went down."
"Oh no, it's not that." Izumi said. "I just kinda missed out on learning some of the basics since my mentor during the internship was teaching me how to better control my power, so…"
"Yeah? Huh, that must have been strange. Ah, don't you worry, Sir and Bubble are the ones who are actually watching the target today, so I can teach you all about patrol duty, we'll get you up to snuff. Though I guess Kaen is too since he's with Bubble-Girl instead of Sir, this time." Togata said.
"Sure, right." Izumi said.
"Hey we forgot something." Togata pointed out. "Our Hero Names. We should know each others, right?"
"Oh, yeah totally. I'm Deku." Izumi said.
"Deku? Like Deck? That's weird." Togata stated.
"I like it."
"Okay, well you can call me Lemillion." Togata said. "For the number of people I'll save. You know, can't save 'em all. But I can at least shoot for saving a million instead, so that's what I'm doing."
"Hope you're keeping count somehow." Izumi giggled.
"Funny." Togata smiled. "When we put on our costumes and start hitting the streets, that's when we become heroes. So don't let your guard down, Deku."
"Got it, Lemillion." Izumi said with a smile as they began walking again.
"So what exactly is your relationship with Super Saiyan?"
"Oh, well he and I…" Izumi stopped talking, and stood still as she felt something, or rather someone bump into her leg, and looked down to see who it was.
The moment she laid sight on the cause of the run in, her eyes widened as if in disbelief. Sitting there on the pavement, was the missing child Kaen had been worried about for nearly two months. Her hair was unkept and a mess, and she had bandages covering her arms and legs, while wearing an over sized shirt that covered her like a medical gown. But there was no mistaking her for anyone else, as she looked up at Izumi.
"Eri?" Izumi gasped.
