Chapter 12
I felt chills go up and down my spine as I turned my head expecting to see a terrifying old demon, but instead I saw nothing. I thought I might have imagined it, and as I began to somewhat relax. A horrifying demon face appeared in front of mine, its smile showing its sharp teeth and its eyes glowing a yellow green. A sinister smile was on its face.
"You're so puny," the voice I heard before changed from sounding old and scratchy to confident and young sounding.
Another, more human like looking demon appeared out of thin air before me. The terrifying demon in front of me disappearing and reappearing with a different body part each time showing—exactly like the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland, except not talking in riddles and I was probably much more terrified than Alice was.
I tried not to show how scared I was.
"See." The human looking demon got closer to me, wrapping his arm around my back and pulling me close to him. "Your parents owe me, and I figured if they can't pay me, maybe then I could have you."
He inched his face closer to my neck, and I was frozen in fear.
"I-I don't want to be with you, or pay off my parents debt." I said, my voice shaking, my words trying to come out confidently.
He let out a low laugh, causing my heart to pound harder. I could barely hear when he said, "oh you dumb pretty thing, I don't want you in that way. " He adjusted my body, so he could stare at me completely. "I want to eat you.
I don't want to give too much information about myself, since I know you are hunting me down." He smirked at me. "Oh I bet you taste as delicious as you smell."
"W-where is my dad?" I finally said, realizing that this was the exact demon that stole my father from me. This was the demon who stole him from home, the whole reason that I am traveling through this era. Beyond the well.
"He's alive, if that's what you're wondering." The demon spoke, his voice like honey. Sweet and soft. Pleasant to my ears, but I knew he was dark and twisted.
I felt a wave of relief at least knowing that he was alive wash over me, and I couldn't stop the surprising confidence and anger that began to over power my body.
"Look," I said, my mouth moving faster than my brain. "I don't give a fuck what debt you're owed, but I want my fucking dad back now. Ever since I got here I've had to deal with nothing but absolute bullshit and I'm tired of it."
"You're a bold little thing aren't you?"
"Who are you?" I asked ignoring what he was saying to me.
I heard a rustle, and turned around and there stood Kazuiko. When I turned back to face the demon, it was gone. It had vanished as soon as Kazukio made an appearance.
"You came," he smiled brightly at me. "Who were you yelling at?"
I was confused, angry, and I didn't really want to deal with all of this right now. I could've had my question answered, or at least been given a hint but Kazuiko ruined it.
My emotions were beginning to get the better of me and I was trying to calm down before something bad happened.
Then someone wrapped their arm around me.
I looked up and surprisingly saw Sesshomaru. He scooped me up with one arm, and held me close to his chest. Instantly calming down the overwhelming emotions of anger and confusion. Replacing those feelings with just sadness instead.
Sad because my dad wasn't here.. Sad to be away from my brothers. Sad because I knew Sesshomaru was the one who could instantly calm me, and I would never be that person for him. And sad I couldn't do anything.
I finally saw who was after me and my family, but he was too protected and too quick for me to do anything. Plus, I was frozen in fear. I wasn't expecting for him to just appear in front of me. Grab me, and smell me and make me feel so strange—and so much like an object. Plus, even if I could do anything, my powers were too uncontrollable for me to get what I wanted.
"Lord Sesshomaru!" I heard Kazuiko exclaim before bowing to him. "Forgive my brashness, but I was hoping to speak with Athena about something. Alone."
Sesshomaru didn't say anything. He just stared at Kazuiko with a look of annoyance.
I couldn't tell what he was thinking, but I knew Sesshomaru wasn't too fond of Kazuiko. I figured it had something to do with status, but Sesshomaru never seemed too annoyed with others that were his servants.
Sesshomaru looked down at me, his eyes softening up and I could tell he was asking for what I wanted to do.
I nodded my head, signaling that it was okay.
He lightly set me back down.
Suddenly, this was all too much for me, and I felt myself growing sick.
The last thing I could remember was grabbing onto Sesshomaru to steady myself, before it all went black.
I woke up in my bed.
I was annoyed.
I was weak.
I hated this.
Sesshomaru and Kazuiko were standing by the entrance of my room. Kazuiko whispering loudly, sounding angry while Sesshomaru stood there a look of indifference on his face but the air around him was terrifying and angry.
"Sesshomaru," I called to him.
The air calmed down and he was by my side quickly.
I felt kinda groggy and out of it, and without thinking I said, "you missed me dancing."
Kazuiko chuckled, walking up beside me as well. "I don't think that's important right now."
I didn't say anything in return, and just focused my attention on Sesshomaru. His eyes were soft, but the energy around him was still strong and scary. I didn't understand how Kazuiko could be so calm with that anger directed at him, but I figured maybe he was oblivious or he just didn't care.
"I did," Sesshomaru spoke, but I felt like he was saying anything to calm me down. Although, he didn't ever seem to lie. Unless he lied about what his relationship was with Ichika, but I don't know why he would lie to me about it. "I saw you made flowers grow, the whole room stopped to watch. It was a sight."
I let out a loud sigh, I wanted to go home. I was out of my comfort zone. I was tired of succumbing to the weakness of my body from not being used to these powers I possessed.
"We leave in the morning if you are strong enough." Sesshomaru said.
I nodded my head, I was ready to learn and take control over these stupid powers.
