Lying on the sofa at home, Andy has an idea. She wants to look extra special tonight because they're basically celebrating their engagement.
Luke brings food from her favorite Italian place as requested.
Andy sits up and thinks about what she can wear with her shoulder now. The choice quickly falls on a deep blue knee-length dress with an asymmetrical top. The strap is over her healthy shoulder.

Dressed like this, she then waits until she hears Luke drive up and then slowly stands up and walks into the middle of the room.

When Luke pushes the door open and his gaze falls on Andy, his breath hitches for a moment. She looks stunning.
He hastily puts down the bag with the food and in two big steps, he has taken her in his arms and presses a firm kiss on her lips.

The table is set quickly and Luke pulls his chair right next to Andy. He just wants to be near her and enjoy their time together. He has to be honest, he's a bit afraid to tell her that he more or less planned and accepted a job change without even saying a word to her about it beforehand.

After serving the tiramisu, Luke grabs Andy's hand. His fingers run carefully over the new ring and then he lifts his gaze to her face.
Andy looks at him slightly scared. Luke seems insecure and that unsettles her.
Andy tries to pull her hand back but Luke squeezes a little bit.
"What's going on?" Andy whispers, slightly shaky, but carefully puts her other hand on his.

Luke smiles cautiously.
"Nothing bad, I promise," he begins with a slightly shaky voice. "There's going to have to be a change as a result of this whole missing gun debacle. Not just at 15, but in the police force here in general. And now that we're engaged, it makes sense to separate."
Andy tries to pull her hand back again and her lips tighten.
"Professionally," he then adds, almost laughing.

Andy tilts her head in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Luke sighs and takes a deep breath. "I've had an offer from Homicide for a while and I'm going to take it. Then you can stay with your friends."

"I don't quite understand why you have to go. You have nothing to do with the administration side of the station, do you?" Andy is still a bit surprised.
"Andy, I may not have anything directly to do with it, but I also messed up somewhere and I, I've had to drop the case now. You're hurt. I shouldn't be working on anything that affects you directly and with this move, we can make sure that no one gets any stupid ideas."
Now it's Andy's turn to sigh. She twists the corners of her mouth into a crooked smile and squeezes his hand.
"Okay, I'm not happy but I'll survive. When will you leave?" she goes straight to the practical while finally treating herself to a spoonful of tiramisu.
"I'll call them tomorrow to accept and then we'll see," smiles Luke and stands up.
Standing right next to Andy, he slowly lifts her into his arms.
"You have no idea how happy you make me," he whispers into her hair.
"You'd make me happier if you'd let me eat my dessert," Andy says, mockingly annoyed, and then breaks out in laughter at Luke's shocked face.
She kisses the corner of his mouth and then whispers "You're enough. I promise" before sinking back into the chair and holding the spoon in front of his lips.

The two spend a quiet evening on the sofa afterward and Luke uses the rest of the week of Andy's sick leave to prepare for his move properly.
It has been agreed with Frank that they will inform the division on Andy's first day at work and also announce their engagement. Andy feels a little bad that she hasn't told Tracy yet, but she just appreciates those fine, quiet moments with Luke too much. This cotton ball-filled world is just about perfect.

But then Monday comes with full force. After a final check at the doctor's, Andy is allowed to do "light" work and she's standing in the locker room when Tracy and Gail join them. Gail sees the new jewelry immediately.
"Andy? Is that what I think?" the blond woman grabs Andy's hand and Tracy's eyes also become large and slightly glassy.
Andy smiles almost shyly at her friends and then just nods before they both throw their arms around her neck.
"Congratulations!" both laugh.
"We'll officially tell everyone soon and invite you to the Black Penny," Andy adds before she hangs the ring on the chain and then lets both disappear under her uniform shirt.
"It's good that you're back. Jerry wants to wrap up the case today and present it. It's totally crazy what happened there," Tracy begins to talk about the business part. Gail rolls her eyes but then gets serious again. As the superintendent's daughter, she's heard far too much about it.
"Woah, I'll be glad when it's all over. Although that could take a while. The bosses want to overthrow and rearrange some things." she moans in annoyance and pushes open the door to the meeting room.
A few heads turn to the three friends and Andy is greeted in a friendly way.
A little later, Frank comes in with Oli and the detectives. Every murmuring stops immediately and everyone is highly concentrated.

Frank starts the meeting with a summary of the current cases and at the very end he twists the corners of his mouth briefly.
"Before we get to what concerns you all, I have some good news." he grins around and Andy feels her heart beating faster.
"Luke will be leaving us next week," a few restrained claps before everything falls silent and the colleagues look a little puzzled.
"That wasn't the good news." laughs Frank, "No, he has a good reason. He's going to Homicide so his fiancee can get some rest from him too."
During the sentence he slowly walked over to Andy and now opens his arms "Congratulations McNally." and with a wink, he adds "I hope you know what you're doing to yourself?"
Now everyone is clapping and laughing and Andy can hardly control her racing heart. It feels even more serious now that everyone knows. Her hand goes to her neck and when her fingers touch the delicate chain her pulse slows down again immediately.

But then Frank gets serious again.
"As you've noticed, I haven't talked about the case yet. It's been a few days. The investigation is almost concluded but unfortunately, next to Luke, it won't be avoidable making some other changes here," Frank swallows deeply. "So please be prepared that any of us can get a new assignment. Even the rookies, although I'm doing everything I can to ensure that you get at least one known TO wherever you land next."

The mood at the end is a bit depressed and Andy stays rooted to the spot in her chair. How would it be if she couldn't see Luke all the time and then maybe not Tracy, Gail, Dov, and Chris anymore? Could she really do this job without all her friends by her side?
