Serena woke up to it when something cold brushed her cheek. She slowly opened her eyes and tried to see around her in her dark tent.
There were no others in the tent, only she and her bag leaning against the wall of the tent. Instead, the tent door was a little open and it caught Serena's attention, as she was absolutely sure she had closed it properly when she went to bed.
She shook her dreams out of her eyes and got up from her warm sleeping bag. Now that she was out there, she realized how cold it really was in the tent. Wrapping her arms around her to warm herself, she went to the door to close it, but curiously peeked out of it.
It had been about four days since they had left Motostoke for Stow-on-Side. They had now stopped on a vast grassy plateau surrounded by deciduous forest and the night sky shone brightly in the light of the full moon and the twinkling of thousands of stars.
Serena opened the door opening a little bigger and peeked out. It didn't take long to think why the tent was so cold. I guess the cool air of the night had flowed from the crack and it had cooled the tent. Serena, slightly shaking, was already closing the door zipper, but a sudden movement from the outside made her change her mind.
She peeked out better and saw someone sitting at their portable camping table. She identified the person as Ash for his dark and messy black hair and curiously Serena opened the door bigger and stepped out.
She walked slowly toward her crush and was very surprised to hear Ash say without turning his head, "Hi Serena. The moon looks somehow especially beautiful tonight."
Surprised, Serena walked barefoot to Ash and felt how moist, ankle-length hay tickled her soles of her feet and how a mist swirling on the ground made her ankles wet.
She sat down on the bench next to Ash and asked, "How did you know it was me? It could just as well have been Gou or even one of our Pokemon."
"From your aura," Ash replied without turning his gaze to the sky. "Lucario taught me how I can identify a human or Pokemon based on this Aura. Pretty handy if you want to surprise someone."
"Oh, I see," Serena said, staring at the sky as well. The moon shone bright and the stars twinkled and together they made the night look very bright.
"Why are you here?" Serena asked Ash. "I mean, usually at this time people are sleeping and not sitting outside staring at the sky. Besides, it's pretty cold here."
Ash slowly turned to look at Serena and Serena was able to see from the sky in the light of the bright moon how his toothy grin shone brightly.
"I wanted to show you something," he said happily and stood up. "Come on, let's go"
"All riiig... Hey, slow down a little!" Serena exclaimed as Ash snatched her wrist and set out to pull her away from the camp.

They walked along the grassy plateau and Ash held Serena by the hand the whole time. Of course, it didn't bother Serena, but she wondered if Ash himself realized what effect his gesture had on Serena.
Serena also realized one thing. This is like a date, she thought and blushed. Only me and Ash and the moon. Does Ash realize it?
"So, was it you who made that gap in the door of my tent?" Serena asked to get the blushing thoughts elsewhere. "I didn't really think of another option"
"Yep," Ash said without turning his head. "I thought it would be a convenient way to wake you up"
"At least it worked," Serena muttered and then they continued silently.
Time passed and Serena began to wonder how long they had already traveled. "Ash, how long yet?" she asked and Ash replied, "Not long yet"
They continued their journey until Ash suddenly stopped and Serena had to run into him. He took his grip off Serena's hand and blinked around him.
"What now?" Serena asked Ash confused and this one turned and said with a grin, "Close your eyes"
"What?" Serena said in wonder, but Ash said, "Trust me. I want it to be a surprise for you. So, close your eyes, please?"
"Fine" Serena slowly closed her eyes and felt Ash take her hand again. His hand felt warm against Serena's cold hand and Serena blushed slightly. Luckily it's pretty dark so Ash can't see, she thought and let Ash lead her forward.
This time the trip was shorter and Serena felt Ash stop. "Can I open my eyes?" she asked and Ash said, "Yep."
Serena slowly opened her eyes and gasped when she saw the view in front of her. "Do you like it?" Ash asked, sounding a little nervous and Serena turned to look at him and there was a wide smile on her face.
They stood on the top of a small hill and in front of them opened up a sight what Serena had never seen before.
Namely, in front of them opened a meadow full of grass reaching to their knees, swaying quietly in the nocturnal, mild wind. Among the grass were many white and pink carnations as well as purple bellflowers. When thousands of more fireflies were added to the crowd, the sight was indeed very beautiful.
"It's... it's... it's so beautiful," Serena gasped in delight at the sight that opened before her. She had never seen anything as magical and beautiful before and she could only stare at the sight with a wide smile and blue eyes shining in the moonlight.
"I knew you would like it," Ash chuckled and took Serena's hand again and stepped slightly down the hill. "Come on, let's get closer"
He led Serena into the sea of carnations and bellflowers, and fireflies flew lazily around them. The grass tickled Serena's bare feet and she felt a damp ground under her bare feet.
"It's so beautiful here," she whispered as the grass swayed a little in the cool but very faint breeze of the night and she couldn't help but smile with joy. "How did you find this place?"
"Remember when I stayed a little longer with Lucario training yesterday?" Ash asked, turning his head slightly in the direction of the girl and Serena nodded. She remembered Ash had been late for dinner and she was worried as Ash would not miss the food at any cost.
"Well, I found this meadow with Lucario back then. It wasn't as beautiful during the day. I came here at night still alone and then I saw what it's like at night. And I immediately thought you might like it."
Ash's cheeks were a hint of pink as he said it and Serena said agitated, "Really? Thank you, Ash." She blushed slightly and silence descended on them.

They continued their journey a little further until they came to another small hill. They stopped at it and sat side by side among the flower sea.
Serena took a few flowers in her hand and smelled them. The sweet scent spread across her nose and she smiled. Ash looked at her with a smile and said, "Weren't these your favorite flowers?"
Serena looked at him a little surprised and said, "You... you remembered it."
"Of course I remember it. That's why I thought you'd like this meadow; it's full of your favorite flowers," Ash said, as if it were clear for everyone.
Serena smiled and then closed her eyes. She let a light breeze blowing in the night blow her face and wipe away all worries and boredom.
Suddenly she felt something touch her hair and she opened her eyes. To her surprise, she saw that Ash was doing something with her hair and she asked, "Ash, what are you doing?"
"Wait a minute," Ash replied and then he quit and said, "Aha! It's ready!"
He leaned a little further and looked at the result of his work with satisfaction. Serena, instead, slowly put her hands on her head and felt with her hands.
She felt a red silk ribbon given by Ash in her fingers, which she always kept tied in her hair, and one carnation was apparently wrapped around the ribbon.
Serena blushed and slowly lowered her hand. Ash looked at her with a grin and Serena smiled at him, blushing.
"Whether I had a mirror, it would be nice to see how you wrapped carnation to my ribbon," Serena sighed and Ash remembered that she could actually see.
"Actually, you can see," he said and stood up. Confused, Serena looked at him as he held out his hand and said, "Come on, I'll show you one thing that's like a mirror."
"Okay," Serena said, got up, and grabbed Ash's outstretched hand.
They walked a short distance along a magical meadow and then a very beautiful sight opened up in front of them again.
In front of them was a rather small pond, the mirror-calm water of which reflected the reflections of the glorious moon and stars in the sky. Reeds and cattails grew on the edges of the pond and a few Swanna slept in its shore water.
Serena gasped again when she saw the vision in front of her and Ash slowly stepped to the edge of the pond and said, "Come on. The water is so calm that you can see yourself from it."
Serena came next to Ash and looked at herself from the surface of the pond. She saw that Ash had tied a white carnation in the middle of her ribbon and it was almost glowing against the deep red ribbon.
"It's beautiful," she said with delight. "Thank you, Ash"

After a while they were on the hill again and now they were lying on their backs among the flowers and grass. They watched the night starry sky and Serena found herself looking for different patterns in the stars.
"Have you ever wondered if there's something other than emptiness?" she said suddenly, staring at the sky, and Ash shrugged.
"Not really," he said, moving his head so he could see Serena's face. The girl's blue eyes shone with the stars in the sky and her cheeks had a light red. She smiled beautifully and Ash felt a familiar, fuzzy feeling inside. She's cute, Ash thought and felt his cheeks heat up a bit. I really need to ask someone why I feel this way about Serena.
"Oh," Serena said, a little surprised by Ash's response. "Why not?"
Ash shrugged again. "I haven't thought about it very much," he said. "Usually my thoughts are always focused on either Pokemon, food, battles or.."
Or to you, he finished the sentence in his mind. He was close to saying it out loud, but stopped in time and wondered when Serena had started spinning in his mind almost every day.
"Or what?" Serena asked curiously and Ash said, "Nothing." Serena settled for it and focused again on the starry sky.
It took a while and suddenly Serena saw something praising quickly in the sky. She quickly sat up and exclaimed, pointing at the sky, "Ash, look! Star flight!"
"Yeah, and there's another one!" Ash exclaimed as well and pointed to the sky as well. She looked at Serena and the childlike joy on her face made her even cuter in Ash's eyes.
"Quickly, we have to wish for something!" Serena exclaimed and then she closed her blue eyes and crossed her hands. She was silent for a moment and then opened her eyes and looked very happy.
"Here," she said and Ash chuckled. "What did you wish?" he asked and Serena looked at him as if he were a little stupid.
"It can't be told, otherwise the wish won't come true," she said. "You also have to wish for something"
"Okay," Ash said with a grin and closed his eyes and crossed his arms like Serena. I wish I become a Pokemon Mas.. he was wishing, but then the image of Serena flashed in his mind and instead of his usual wish he wished: I hope Serena and I never get apart.
When he had wished, he opened his eyes and saw Serena giggle beside him. "I guess you wished to become a Pokemon Master," she giggled, but Ash shook his head with a grin.
"Nope, I didn't wish that," he said and Serena looked surprised.
"So what did you wish for then?" she asked curiously, but Ash just grinned mysteriously and said, "I can't tell that. Otherwise, the wish will not come true."
"No fair!" Serena exclaimed supposedly irritated and Ash showed laughing his tongue to Serena.

They sat close together in silence, but the silence was by no means uncomfortable, no, it was rather soothing and comfortable. The fireflies flew quietly around them and a faint wind waved carnations around them, while spreading their sweet scent into the air.
Gradually, Serena felt tired of taking over to her and she felt her eyes close even as she tried to keep them open. She felt a sleep come, and soon she was already asleep and her head leaned against Ash's shoulder.
Ash felt a faint thud against his shoulder and turned his head to see what was causing it. He saw Serena's head lowered against his shoulder and he saw the girl asleep and he smiled slightly.
"Time to go to sleep," he muttered to himself, and then he thought how to get the sleeping Serena back to camp. He didn't want to wake the girl because this one seemed so calm as she slept. What do I do? he thought until he got the idea.
He gently got up and warned not to wake the sleeping Serena. Serena muttered something in her sleep as her head moved slightly away from Ash's shoulder, but she didn't wake up.
Ash put his right hand on Serena's knee bends and his left hand on the girl's back to support this from there. He then picked up the sleeping girl and slowly walked toward the camp.
Ash was surprised at how light Serena was. Like a feather, he thought as he carries Serena in a bridal style. Serena was still asleep and Ash hoped she wouldn't wake up on the way to camp.
Then Serena muttered something again and smiled in her sleep. In her sleep, she wrapped her arms around Ash's neck and rubbed her head sleepily against Ash's chest.
Ash couldn't help but think that Serena looked even cuter than before as she slept. He enjoyed that Serena was so close to him and he was able to smell the sweet strawberry scent coming from Serena's hair, mixed with the scent of the carnation in her hair. This is nice, he thought and continued on his way to camp.

They got to the camp and Ash sighed in relief. Serena was still asleep and now Ash had to get her to sleep in her tent.
He walked to Serena's tent and opened the door zipper. It was a little hard as Serena was still in his arms. However, he got it open and then he set the sleeping girl in this tent to sleep and covered her.
Then he got up and closed the zipper on the door of Serena's tent. He looked at it for a moment and then stepped over to him and Gou's tent.
"Good night, Serena," he whispered until he stepped inside his tent and closed the door with a zipper behind him.
