Fuuka's Last Kiss

Chapter V - Lightning

"Well boy, nothing average about you, is there?" - Fuuka

34 years earlier...

"So this is supposed to be the palace? Somehow I imagined it to be way bigger."

The boy with the orange glasses held his hands to the back of his head and made an unimpressed face. The group of four stood in front of the feudal lord's estate. The sky above them was cloudy. Light rain dripped on their heads while a cold wind vibrated the leaves of the trees of the forest around them.

"Listen, Obito. When we are inside, you will not say such things, do you get me? We represent our village, so please be respect..."

Obito waved off the blond-haired young man, who was considerably taller than himself.

"Yeah yeah. I know, I know. You don't have to tell me the same damn thing four times, Sensei."

"Even if he told you this four hundred times, I don't think the message would get through."

The other boy sighed noticeably. His annoyed expression was clearly visible, although the lower half of his face was covered by a mask. His hair was noticeably white.

"What did you say, Kakashi?!"

Obito looked quite upset. His face was flushed red. The last member of the group, a girl with brown short hair, started giggling.

"It's always the same with you two.", complained Minato as he rolled his eyes.

The rain was getting heavier. The Sensei looked up at the sky as the drops of water poured down on his face.

"We should go inside now. You don't keep a Daimyō waiting."

The guards guarding the gate seemed to recognize the Shinobi of the Leaf and granted them entrance. Inside, an elderly gentleman with short gray hair welcomed them then. Judging from his clothing, he was a servant or attendant of the Daimyō.

"My lord is already expecting you."

He gestured to a staircase that was in front of them.

"Now, if you will follow me."

Minato smiled approvingly at the servant. They walked up a long flight of stairs. Obito pulled his glasses up to his forehead, probably to get a clearer impression of the interior of the palace. The inside didn't seem to impress the Uchiha boy much either.

"It's even more boring insi... Augh!"

The girl smacked Obito in the side with her elbow. Her blow was subtle, but it apparently didn't lack the appropriate force, at least judging by Obito's pained face. She did not pull a face on her own the slightest, nor did she look at him. Obito got the message and kept his mouth shut the rest of the way.

After a short time, they finally reached the feudal lord's chambers. The middle-aged man was dressed in the usual attire for people of his rank, complete with conspicuous headdress, while he held an elaborately decorated golden fan in his hand. He had made himself comfortable on a large purple cushion. To his right, standing a little distance away, was a woman with long, red hair and far less conspicuous clothing. She wore a pink top and short, light purple shorts.

The servant stepped forward.

"My lord, the Shinobi from Konoha have arrived."

"Ah, very good. Very good."

The feudal lord beckoned them to him.

"Please, come. Come and sit down."

The servant, no longer getting any attention, bowed deeply and with due reverence to his master before leaving the room silently and closing the door behind the group.

Minato went a few steps forward. After a moment of hesitation, his three students did likewise.

"My lord, it is an honor."

Minato bowed as well, not as deeply and reverently as the servant had just done though. Kakashi, Obito and Rin hesitated here as well, looking uncertain, but then followed their Sensei's lead again. Apparently they were not quite familiar with the etiquette.

"Sit down, sit down. I'm glad you were able to come so quickly."

The four took their seats. The green cushions, seemingly provided for them especially, were far less large, thick, and fluffy than the feudal lord's, which drew Obito's envious gaze.

"You must be Minato. Minato Namikaze. I've heard a lot about you."

Minato nodded in agreement.

"Unfortunately, I don't have much time. A man like me has lot of things to do and a lot more to be concerned about, as I'm sure you can imagine. That's why I'll keep this short. Hiruzen will have already told you the broad outline of what this job is about."

Minato's blue eyes looked at the red-haired woman. She had her arms crossed in front of her breasts and was looking at the group with an expressionless expression. Even though she seemed unconcerned - or wanted to appear that way - Minato immediately recognized that she was very focused and alert. Noticing Minato's gaze on her, the woman drew her eyebrows together. For his part, Minato didn't notice that he had been staring at her for too long apparently. Conspicuously long. Minato averted his gaze from her again.

"... and that is why this mission is of the utmost urgency and importance."

It occurred to Minato that he had been too focused on the woman, and because of that, he had completely missed what the Daimyō had just been talking about.

"I understand, my lord. Don't worry, we'll take care of it.", he directed himself out of context.

"Excellent. That's exactly what I wanted to hear."

The Daimyō held his fan in front of his face.

"I must admit that I was skeptical at first when I read Hiruzen's letter. Sending me a group of inexperienced Genin for this task. Me! The Daimyō!"
Obito looked a bit annoyed at this statement, but Rin and Kakashi didn't seem to care.

"However, it should be a simple matter for the Yellow Flash of Konoha to lead this mission to a successful end. Your reputation precedes you. But I think you already know that."

Minato smiled sheepishly and clasped the back of his neck with one hand.

"You honor me, my lord."

The Daimyō pointed to the woman to his right, who then lowered her gaze slightly.

"This is Fuuka, my personal bodyguard. She will accompany you."

In itself, it would have been a simple assignment. A protection mission, like they had completed together dozen of times, without any difficulties worth mentioning. The only reason it was officially an A-rank and not a C-rank mission was due to the client. The Daimyō of the Land of Fire had numerous, and influential enemies. Not only external ones, but internal ones as well. Even close confidants could become adversaries and harbor treachery within them. They had suspected, if at all, a few highwaymen and brigands, but not what had eventually happened...

Most of the caravan Team Minato was supposed to protect had been destroyed. A few of the destroyed carts lay in the middle of the path, others at the side of the road, others seemed to have crashed straight into a nearby building. Only splinters of wood and a few wooden beams were left of them. The remains of the once long and impressive caravan of the feudal lord lay scattered on the wet ground. Between them, here and there, splintered spears and broken swords, as well as the lifeless bodies of the guards who had held them in their hands previously. The rain from earlier had already turned into a violent storm.

"Now you're mine!"

The red-haired bodyguard Fuuka pressed Minato against the masonry. At first glance, one might have thought Minato had already been overpowered by the red-haired woman, but he appeared calm and collected as her arm pinned him against the wall. Fuuka smiled seductively at him.

"Don't worry. I'll make your last moments feel good..."

She pressed him even harder against the wall as her smile became a grin.

„... before I take your body!"

Slowly, Fuuka's face approached his face. Just before the tips of both noses touched, Fuuka closed her eyes as her moist lips opened.

"Reaper kiss!"

But at the moment when their lips were supposed to touch, the woman's already extended tongue got to feel not Minato's warm mouth, but the grainy dirt that clung on the cold wall. Surprised, and a little disgusted, she widened her eyes.

Minato was gone. Before she could even realize this, in the next split second, she herself was pressed against the masonry. The left side of Fuuka's face and her breasts were pressed against the wet wall by Minato, who suddenly, out of nowhere, appeared to be behind her.

"I'm sorry. I'm taken."

Fuuka tried to squirm out of his grip. To no avail. Shortly after, Minato noticed that her body was merging with the wall. Fuuka escaped him with her technique, but Minato's lightning quick perception and excellent reaction time ensured that her success was short-lived.

Rasengan!"

A circulating ball of Chakra, summoned by the Yellow Flash of Konoha with lightning speed, slammed into the wall. But it wasn't just the spot his powerful Jutsu hit that cracked open. The energy of the impact caused the entire masonry to explode. Bricks flew into the air and in all directions. Dense clouds of dust spread out.

"Aaaarrgh!"

Fuuka cried out in pain as Minato's Jutsu shattered the wall she was inside. Just as Minato was about to turn and leave, thinking he had defeated Fuuka, he recognized her presence again. He looked in the direction from which a shadowy figure seemed to be staring at him. The clouds of dust that had been raised slowly dissipated. Fuuka stood among the remains of the masonry, but she seemed somehow changed. Her appearance caused Minato to take a step back. He looks unsettled, almost frightened.

"How dare you? How dare you do this to me?" Fuuka gritted the few teeth she had left. She seemed to be alive somehow, but there wasn't much left of her except rotten skin and old bones.

"Reaper transfer!"

Slowly, her form regained color and she regained her previous appearance. She narrowed her eyelids as she gazed into Minato's eyes. Then she smiled.

"At least you're not an average guy. You'll make a nice addition to my..."

Before she was aware of it, Minato was no longer in front of but above her. He seemed to be faster than the lightning that discharged right above her in the cloudy sky. She had no time to react. The Jutsu struck the woman's exposed back and sent her to the ground - sprawling. Her body was already eating through the wet earth before she could even comprehend what was happening.

Fuuka layed in a crater. Once again, life drained from her body. Her brown shell crumbled to dust, but shortly after, Fuuka's body seemed to materialize again under his feets. Minato knelt down to her, pushed Fuuka onto her back, and held a Kunai to the woman's throat as she scowled at him with hatred. Minato remained silent, which made Fuuka nervous. More and more beads of sweat formed on the woman's face as Minato looked deeper and deeper into her eyes. Then he lowered his Kunai slowly.

Could it be that she...

Minato seemed lost in thought. Fuuka, on the other hand, looked puzzled, but exhaled in relief when she was allowed to move her neck a little again. But then something happened that, by all appearances, she had not dared to expect; Minato reached for her long hair. A long front strand that went along Fuuka's upper body, he held in front of his face now. Panic and sheer horror could be read from her face.

Could it be that he...

"W-W-What are you doing?"

Minato did not let go of her hair, nor did he take his eyes off of it. It almost seemed like her hair was making him curious. He seemed to be analyzing it somehow.

Why didn't Kushina tell me...?

"Your hair is pretty... special."

Fuuka looked at him in disbelief.

"H-How did you figure it out?"

Minato lowered his hand that had been gripping her hair, but didn't release the strand yet.

"I had a suspicion."

How could he have figured out my secret so quickly?

They looked into each other's eyes for a moment. Minato still seemed composed, Fuuka continued to look nervous.

"What - What are you going to do now?"

It seemed that Minato was weighing something in his mind. He looked into her eyes deeply, but seemed absent in thought for the moment - it almost seemed as if he saw and recognized another familiar person in her eyes. Then, in a reflex of desire, he leaned down and kissed her passionately.

Chu...lelo...kuchu...

Fuuka seemed even more perplexed and confused than before. Fuuka's eyes, widened in shock, looked at Minato's closed eyelids as his tongue sought contact with hers. Now it seemed to be her who was weighing and thinking. Her eyes closed as well, and she let him do his thing.

Minato's one hand went deeper into her red hair, while the other slid between her legs. She seemed to enjoy the fear and uncertainty she felt as Minato moved deeper into her hair.

"Sensei! Sensei, where are you?"

A young girl's voice caused both of them to open their eyes at the same time and stop. Minato straightened up and looked in the direction the voice came from. It was Rin, but she was not alone.

"Sensei?"

Obito and Kakashi were with her. They searched the area for Minato. It seemed that, in the heat of the fight before, they got separated.

Minato looked back at Fuuka. Without flaring for long, he again slid his Kunai under her throat.

"Kakashi, Obito, Rin! I'm here!"

First in disbelief, then grudgingly and angrily, Fuuka looked Minato in the eyes.

"You..."

"Go!"

"What?"

"Go away, go!"

Fuuka felt the pressure of the blade on her neck lessen. She pushed Minato off of her, scrambled to her feet, and jumped out of the trench. Minato layed on his back, trying to give an overwhelmed impression. Fuuka shifted her gaze from Minato to the three Genin. She formed signs with her fingers.

„You brats! Fire-Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!"

Fuuka held her left hand in front of her mouth before several fireballs shot at the trio from her direction. Kakashi and Rin took cover behind one of the destroyed but more or less still whole carts, while Obito leapt into the air.

"Fire-Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

Finding himself still in the air, Obito sent a single, much larger fireball towards her. Minato jumped out of the trench and took cover between Rin and Kakashi. By the time Obito had solid ground under his feet again and the smoke from the explosion cleared, there was no sign of the red-haired woman.

„That old hag. She's gone!", Obito said.

Minato looked at the crater where the two were. Then to the forest beyond. After a while he noticed that Kakashi, Rin, and Obito were looking up at him.

"We need to report to the Hokage."

All three nodded at the same time. Team Minato set off to Konoha.
