Volume 1 - First Order
Chapter 1: Stargazer
Story Start.
Absurd.
That's what Naruto Uzumaki said to Marisbury Animusphere ten years ago.
Because Naruto Uzumaki is a man that helped many but antagonised more, yet he still commanded respect all the same; he cared not for it, and that was the opinion of a certain old vampire, and a certain bishop from another world concurred in the vampire's assessment.
The entire idea of Chaldea was absurd, but he funded it anyway.
Because he's an idiot, just like that bishop from another world said.
A loveable idiot.
Then Marisbury got himself killed, and now he is the Director.
He is an idiot.
-Chaldea Security Organization, Antarctica: May 2017-
He stood behind a glass panel and watched people move about their jobs in the quaint place they were in.
Stargazers from the Observatory - that's what Naruto called the people that operated within Chaldea, not many people, but still quite a good number of people from around the world.
Because Organisation for the Preservation of Human Order, Finis Chaldea sounded too long for Naruto, hence Stargazers and the staff seemed to have been used to it.
Olga Marie Asmleit Animusphere, Head of the Animusphere Family and Co-Director of Chaldea, however, was not.
But Naruto cared not and refused to oblige in what she ever she said to him.
"Nonsense", he said to her, "it was perfectly fine. There was nothing offensive about it, take it as a sign of endearment."
She rolled her eyes in annoyance but pushed the issue no further, as she knew he'd never budged from his position.
"It's Chaldea and I'm the Director of Chaldea," she said as she crossed her arms under her bust, "you may have been my teacher some years back, but now you have to listen to me at some point."
"CO-Director, my dear Olga, emphasis on the CO, and I'm still the Director AND Field Commander for Rayshift Operations."
He then gave her a small glance before he turned his gaze back to the snowy exterior of Chaldea. "Anyway, that day is still quite far from reality, dear Olga, and remember, I'm the one paying for all of this even before your father died."
Naruto's gaze then turned distant, and Olga noticed it.
"The coming days will be something different."
Olga Marie raised an eyebrow delicately, confused at what Naruto said.
"What do you mean?" she asked, but Naruto merely gave her a small smile.
"Last year, I gazed upon the Crystal Tower at the End of the World and saw something very, very interesting regarding an old friend," said Naruto before he stifled a burst of laughter.
She only gave him a confused look.
"A what tower at the end of the what?"
"It's nothing you should concern yourself," he said, as his face turned serious, "nobody in this world knows about it anyway, even that dick-conjuring wizard from Avalon is oblivious, for now at least."
Olga hated it when he becomes like this, but she supposed it was part of his charm, and probably why many in the Clock Tower and Mage's Association disliked him, and why his relationship with the Church is tenuous even though he is openly allied with them.
"As you wish," she replied tersely, but she then remembered what he said afterwards.
"Old friend? D-Dick conjuring?"
Naruto simply nodded.
"Someone beyond time and space, beyond this world, this universe… and forget the penile creator for now…" he muttered, and Olga just watched him in silence as he walked away, towards his quarters, near a certain room.
"Glory be to the Father that Olga didn't try to pry much this time, and oh dear… the unpleasant neighbour," he thought as he walked past a magus in a green coat with a fedora that matched with his coat, "morning fu-ahem Lev."
Then he just walked on, not even bothered to wait for a reply, not that he expected anything from the mage. Suffice to say, they didn't have a good relationship, much to Olga's consternation and she was quite pissed, to say the least.
Well… the truth is, she flipped out at Naruto, one too many times, with and without the presence of Chaldea's staff.
If you ask the staff, they'd rather not be there when Olga goes berserk with Naruto.
It just doesn't end well… mostly for Olga.
And it has gone on for so long that most of the staff believes that Naruto and Olga are married since the staff took up their arguments as marital spats and that only Naruto, being the Director, can openly defy Olga, the Co-Director and Daughter of the Founder, even in her worst moods.
Then there's Chaldea's resident Caster, Leonardo da Vinci in the form of a woman, of Mona Lisa, whose room he walked into later that night.
Olga followed him soon, however, and discreetly walked slowly past the door of Da Vinci's room, and her face reddened as she heard a familiar feminine voice, yet there were no words spoken, she only heard feminine moans that sounded very perverted in her ears.
The Co-Director would have heard more kinds of sounds, but she immediately walked away, her heels clattered on the smooth floor as she pushed out the blush off her face.
She then shouted in her mind, "Olga! You heard nothing out of the ordinary! She was just probably complaining to him again about something! Yeah, that's right… but she wasn't saying anything only moaning… NO! Olga, no!"
"This is a very serious situation, that point may end up becoming a Singularity that disrupts human history that has been solidified to the present," said Olga before she sighed, "how am I going to report this to the Association and the UN?"
"I think it's way too early for a report, this may have been a malfunction of CHALDEAS," replied Lev and in a rare instance, Naruto agreed.
"Surprisingly, I agree with this one. It's been more than a decade since CHALDEAS was officially activated in 2004," added Naruto and Lev inclined his head.
"How about we give it a good maintenance for once?" the Magus asked.
Olga shook her head and replied, "We can't do that. We know what CHALDEAS is, and now that we have it running, stopping it is akin to killing it. Besides, my CHALDEAS wouldn't have any imperfections."
"Are you sure?" Naruto coyly asked, but Olga just rolled her eyes.
"Please, Naruto, spare us the attitude for today, if there's an issue at all, it has to be from some external factor."
Naruto shrugged as he leaned back on his chair, then he said, "If CHALDEAS has no issues, might the problem be with SHEBA? After all, it is the one observing it."
And there it is, the beginning of a verbal joust, for the umpteenth time.
"Oh, does that mean it's my fault?" Lev asked with mild amusement, "Indeed, my SHEBA has been running since 1999, perhaps the logic within it has gotten antiquated here and there."
"Maybe you should repair it," quipped Naruto.
"I didn't blame you, Lev. Naruto! Can you not?" Olga intervened before she leaned back on her seat, arms crossed over her chest.
"What? I didn't do anything," he replied, and Olga stared towards him for a second before she huffed and went on.
"Fatigue of staff members in the control room or harassment from the Association… possibilities of that nature exist as well!"
"But Romani here has ensured that the health of the staff has been well-maintained, and I've been helping him in that regard especially with the idiots from the Association, mostly from the Clock Tower," argued Naruto as he pointed at the other person in the room who has remained quiet the entire time.
"Lord Uzumaki is right, but I personally would like you to rest as much as the others do Director," said the last person in the room, whom Naruto referred to as 'Romani'.
"What are you insinuating, Archaman?" Olga's eyes narrowed towards the doctor, who flinched from her gaze.
"Olga Marie!" Naruto's call of her name was short and sharp, and Olga felt the edge on his voice, "Romani is right, your health is not as good as you may think, you need to rest… "
He paused for a moment and contemplated, then he continued, "… coming to think of it, I need to get some snooze as well. Da Vinci didn't let me get some sleep last night."
Everyone in that room just stared blankly towards him, or in the case of Olga, a red hue washed over her face, while Romani feigned a cough, and that lovely bespectacled teen girl with lilac hair looked down towards her legs.
"What?" Naruto raised an eyebrow before Lev took over the conversation.
"Nothing Lord Uzumaki, and I agree. Ever since the CHALDEAS showed abnormalities a week ago, you haven't been sleeping much, have you, Olga? You should have the doctor look at you," Lev said and the young lady that sat with them turned to Olga.
"The Rayshift experiment report… and the accompanying request for selecting the Master candidates have been approved. Director, you need to have your mandatory rest of 12 hours. We only have Lord Uzumaki to take your place and he also has other things to oversee," she said to Olga, and the Director went to think about it.
"Right. I'll take that as a word of advice," replied Olga, and Naruto thought he should add something there.
"If you don't, I'll knock you up-ahem, out and you'll be sleeping for an entire day."
Romani covered his mouth with one of his hands while Lev kept smiling, and surprisingly, Olga didn't burst out in anger, and that notable red hue simply returned to her face.
"… securing Master candidates who are suitable for Rayshifting is important," said Olga as she played with her hair, "but we must somehow further test things on that end as well."
"It would be nice if Da Vinci was a bit more cooperative with us," added Lev, then he turned to her, "Olga, how about you give her a workshop to use?"
"It's too early for that! I can't trust any Servants who have no Masters. Besides, to begin with, I don't get along with that Heroic Spirit," Olga stated, annoyed as she tapped a finger on the table before them.
"When we have our next successful summons, I'll have her depart right away!" She finished, slightly frustrated.
"That sounds pretty harsh," voiced Romani, "Da Vinci might say she thinks of the Co-Director like a little sister, and besides, Lord Uzumaki, weren't you going to tell us something?"
At that moment, all eyes turned to Naruto, who was surprisingly quiet for some time now, and his eyes were closed.
"Ah, yes, right," he said before he raised his right hand, and showed them his right forearm, and there, the distinct red command seals appeared, and if someone has a general knowledge of the Church, they'd know what the command seals of Lord Uzumaki depicted, but perhaps it may have been a sign of the things to come.
"Since when?" Olga tersely asked.
"Yesterday, after you finished spying on us," he amusedly retorted and a warm feeling crept up on her face once more as she remembered what she heard last night, and the eyes turned back towards her.
"I-I did no such thing!" She sputtered and laughter burst from him.
"Yeah, right. I could sense your magical energy from outside Da Vinci's door."
"You have no proof!"
"Security Cameras for the win!"
And just like that, the focus of the meeting was thrown out of the metaphysical window. And it is possible, that is the tale of a husband-and-wife-to-be being written in front of them, or so Romani Archaman thought, but he'd never say that out loud, he still loves his mortal life.
-Corridors of Chaldea: Sometime later-
Mash Kyrielight sat over a windowsill, her eyes watched the blizzard outside and hopeful that the sun may show up, but it never did, not in this place, she knew, but she was always hopeful.
"Mash," called out a voice from behind her, and she turned to see another young woman, and the most noticeable feature of this woman is her black eye patch, "good morning."
"Oh, good morning, Ms Ophelia," Mash greeted back with a cheerful smile, something Ophelia Phamrsolone found difficult to return, perhaps because of upbringing, but she had no desire to think about that, "what is it?"
"Lord Uzumaki wants to see you in his office in 20 minutes."
A/N: Well, here we are. I've always wanted to write a fanfic in this world. Oh, Ophelia is one of the main characters here.

"I'm very fond of you," he continued, ignorant of Ophelia's reddened face.
"And I have, in good faith, the belief that you'll be a better, stronger woman one day."
Of course, he blabbered on, and Ophelia couldn't utter a word. That talk-no-jutsu had long taken hold of her.
"Director," a new voice interrupted his blabbering, "young Ophelia's head might overload, refrain for a moment."
"… was I talking loudly?"
"You don't say."
