Hatake Kakashi stood alone in front of the Konoha Memorial Stone. Three thirteen year-old genins were hiding in a bush near their sensei.

If Kakashi noticed them, he didn't say or do anything to let them know.

Ten minutes passed and then suddenly he puffed away, leaving his students alone, wondering why the names of the ones carved to the stone troubled their sensei so much.

" Gai-sensei!" Naruto yelled to a bubble haired jounin, who was dressed in a green jumpsuit and orange legwarmers.

" Yes, my eternal rival's ever youthful student? How can I help you and your youthful friends?" Gai asked grinning with his twink twink smile.

" We want to know about Kakashi-sensei and his past." Sakura said and Gai's face became serious, well as serious as he can be in his youthful beauty.

" What exactly do you want to know?" Gai asked a bit suspicious. How much had Kakashi told to these kids about himself?

" Everything." Sasuke's voice was barely heard.

" I can't tell you everything concerning Kakashi, but let me see…" Gai thought for a while.

" Kakashi was the youngest to enter the academy before your brother, Sasuke. He became a genin at the age of six and chuunin at nine. His team mates were Ayashi Rin and Sasuke's cousin Obito. Their sensei was the Yondaime Hokage." Gai finished.

" We know that Yondaime is dead, what about Kakashi-sensei's team mates?" Sakura asked.

" I've never heard of Obito…" Sasuke commented silently.

" I would be surprised if you had. Both Rin and Obito died before they turned fourteen. Obito was killed by stone ninjas and Rin died few months later saving Kakashi's life. Yondaime died shortly after Rin. Kakashi is the only survivor of his team." Gai said and genins could hear the sorrow in his voice.

" What about Kakashi-sensei's sharingan?" Sasuke asked.

Gai laughed a bit.

" Kakashi had graduated as a jounin when he turned thirteen and Obito didn't have gift for him. He was very sorry about that but Kakashi said that it didn't matter. Later Obito's right side was crushed under a rock. He asked Rin to implant his left eye to Kakashi, who had lost his own eye because of some fight."

" So this Rin was a medic-nin?" Sakura asked frowning.

" Yes, taught by the best medic-nins in the village, she was rumoured to be the next Tsunade." Gai smiled fondly remembering the smiling ever cheerful girl.

" That's all I can tell you. You'll have to ask the rest from my eternal rival." Gai said and bid them farewell as he puffed away, no doubt to inform Kakashi about his eager genins and their questions.

" Did you notice that Gai-sensei barely used any of his 'youthful and spirit rising' words?" Sasuke asked as they walked towards their homes.

" Yes… That was weird, but maybe even he can be serious sometimes…" Sakura thought.

" So they know…" Kakashi muttered and looked at Gai.

" I'm sorry Kakashi." Gai said and he meant it.

" No, don't be. It was about time that they found out something about me…" Kakashi said and turned to walk back to his apartment. Gai followed him trough the door.

" You want some tea?" Kakashi asked and looked back at Gai, who grinned in a way that made Kakashi regret that he had asked.

" Yes my eternal rival. Who can drink the hottest tea!" Gai yelled in his pose and with his thumbs up.

" This time I will win!"
