Here's another story I'm working on. I've seen almost nobody has made a Mother novelization, so here ya go. Just a disclaimer, I am not doing Earthbound. MetroidMan101 has an amazing Earthbound fanfiction which I could never top, so just go read his after mine and think of it as a spiritual successor. Without further ado, here's the game that started it all:MOTHER!
Back in the 1900's, before Mr.T, before Pac-Man, even before Star Trek, there was a couple, George and Maria. George was an inspiring News Reporter, whose parents had died when he was young. Maria was a painter who also specialized in music. They had met when George had used her drawing of a flower in a newspaper. They married a few years later where they had 3 children, who Maria would put on mini-concerts for with her piano.
George was on a breakthrough. He had finished his report on Mt. Itoi, the famous 'Holy Loly Mountain'. People had been going there and returning days later with no memory. It was set to be published tomorrow, when Maria and George vanished. Their children were in a delirious state, stating they were 'taken away by the tall men'. The children were taken in by a neighbor, and the house sat like that for two years. Everybody in town prayed for the couple to return, they described it as a 'sudden and heavy loss'.
George came back. When he descended Mt. Itoi and came back to town, everybody cheered. His children ran up to him, people were crying, and it was as if God had answered their prayers. But George, looking 20 years older, had ignored them, shoved his kids aside and slammed the door to his house, clutching a strange device chest.
It wasn't until a few hours later where somebody questioned where Maria was.
George continued to live in his house for 50 years, never talking to anyone. Whenever people tried to visit him, he would shoo them away so he could 'focus on his research'. If somebody mentioned Maria, he would chase them away with a broom. His children resented him and steered clear of him. When he died, the whole town was sad, although some were happy, as they wanted to get a hand on what was in his house. But the property was given to one of George's and Maria's children. From their, she had a daughter of her own, Carol. Carol went on to inherit the house and all the memories and stories that came with it. She got married, and had three beautiful children and became a housewife as her husband was always away on business, but he was able to spend time with his family and send money.
A dark cloud previously settled over Mt. Itoi, but it had vanished for 80 years. It came back, shocking citizens. They could only pray for it to go away...until everything turned upside down...
