Chapter 46

Letting it Out

We left early the next morning. Jupiter hugged Bard good bye and promised to come back soon as always. Thorin was excited to see his grandfather again.

"When am I going to see Thorin again ada?"

My eyes went wide.

"What're you talking about sweetheart?" Jupiter asked.

"Thorin Oakenshield."

She seemed very confused.

"He was there in the mountain."

"Did he say anything?"

"He wouldn't tell me the story of five armies."

Her eyes were wide with fear. She slowly looked at me.

"~Did you know about this?~"

I sighed and nodded, anger had joined the fear.

"~We'll talk about this later.~" she said.

I nodded and she turned back to Thorin.

"Honey, there's no such thing as ghosts."

"But maman I saw him."

She shook her head. The rest of our trip was abnormally silent. When we reached my father's halls, she went straight inside.

"Ada, what's wrong with maman?"

"She's just a little tired from all the traveling."

He nodded and my father came to us.

"Annada!"

I set Thorin down and he ran to his grandfather, I immediately went to find Jupiter.

Jupiter's POV

My son could see the dead. He was different like me. Thankfully he didn't have a destructive ability like myself, but people might still alienate him.

"Jupiter."

I looked at Legolas.

"When were you planning to tell me that our son is cursed?"

"He's not cursed."

I stood up angrily.

"Of course he is! People will be afraid of him and possibly hate him because he's different! People are afraid of what they don't understand, Legolas."

He came and grabbed my arms.

"Jupiter listen to me! He is not cursed. He has a special gift, just like his mother. He's unique."

Tears came to my eyes and I leaned against my husband.

"I just don't want him to be feared and hated. I want him to have a normal life." I said.

"And he will. I promise you he will."

He kissed the top of my head and rubbed my back.

"Everything will be alright." He whispered.

I nodded but a part of me didn't believe him. I looked up at him and he smiled. He kissed my lips softly and then went down to dinner. Thorin was playing with Thranduil and it always made me smile. I decided to go for a walk. I stayed within Thranduil's lands, but that didn't seem to matter today. Orcs found me, and all I had was a dagger. One of them backhanded me and a shield appeared around me.

"Sorcery!" one growled.

I had no choice but to use my power. I threw several orcs into a tree and then turned to cut another two in half. When they were all dead I leaned against a tree.

"My lady!"

A group of guards came and looked around.

"Are you hurt my princess?"

"No."

They took me back to Thranduil's halls and I went back to my room. Legolas found me later and checked me over for any injury.

"I'm fine."

'What were you thinking? Going out there on your own?"

"I was thinking I needed to clear my head!" I snapped.

My tone seemed to hurt him and I sighed.

"I'm sorry, mon amour. I'm just… I don't know what I am."

Every time I saw an orc I was reminded of Azog. Of the day Thorin died.

"Jupiter please, talk to me. Let me in."

"I don't want to burden you with this."

He turned my face so I would look into his eyes.

"Jupiter I am your husband. I want you to burden me with whatever you need to. It breaks my heart to know you're suffering alone. Please, let me help. You can talk to Thorin's tomb, so please talk to me."

The dam burst and I broke down into tears. Legolas held me to his chest and let me cry. I told my husband everything I felt and how I still felt responsible for Thorin's death. He held me and stroked my hair, gently rocking me in his arms.

"It's alright now. I'm here." He whispered.

I clung to him like a I'd fall into darkness if I let go.

"I love you." I choked out.

"I love you too. I always will and I'll always be here. I promise." He said softly.

He held me as I stopped crying. He kept me in his arms all night, shielding me from any nightmares.
