Backstory
Mackenzie Lupe was your average sixteen year old when her family moved to Beacon Hills except that her family were werewolves, she had a mom and a dad and a blessed life that was until the pack was hunted down and nearly slaughtered to extinction so her father still reeling from the loss of the pack fled for his friend Talia's help and shelter with her pack since her father and the Hale Alpha were long term friends and Talia was more than happy to take them in.
Once there and confidant that they were safe with the Hales, Mackenzie was enrolled in school with the Hale children which is where she met Derek and it was instant sparks between them which left the teens confused and conflicted especially Derek who was still reeling from Paige's death and his eyes changing but even they couldn't deny the connection between them which led to a hard and fast relationship with the two behind their parents backs at first but pretty soon it was brought into the light with a little reluctance from Mackenzie's dad but they were told why they were so connected.
Mackenzie and Derek are mates, at first they were startled because at first they were just messing around to try and get themselves over the connection thinking it was just lust but with this new revelation the connection grew stronger, 'I love you's' were exchanged and but things went a little south when Mackenzie discovered she was pregnant about three weeks after prom.
Shocked, confused, worried and above all scared she started avoiding Derek which led to confusion and hurt to cross Derek as he didn't understand why she was avoiding him which led to an angry get back attempt which led to Derek and Kate sleeping together and in the aftermath confrontation between Derek and Mackenzie between the tears and apologies she told him that she was pregnant and that he was the father.
Things quickly escalated when they had to tell their parents knowing that it was only a matter of time before they smelt it on her and her dad was of course furious but after Talia took hold of the situation they all calmed down and talked about it, Mackenzie and Derek accepted the responsibility of being teenage parents and it took a couple days but their parents came around.
With Mackenzie and Derek back on track with a baby on the way they were excited, still scared but even more in love thinking that everything was okay but then disaster struck…the Hale house fire which Mackenzie's parents suffered the same fate all burning to death in the fire that wiped out all but Derek, Laura and Mackenzie who were at school at the time and Peter who had been the only survivor to escape alive…injured but alive none the less.
Not long after the fire and everything was settled Laura, Derek and Mackenzie made the decision to leave Beacon Hills and move to New York which is where Mackenzie gave birth to a beautiful baby girl which they named Natalia in honor of Derek's mother, the woman who took her family in and because of everything she meant to the both of them.
They were safe for six years until Laura received a letter in the mail with startling information and she took off not letting Mackenzie and Derek know until she was already in Beacon Hills and when she stopped calling they made the decision to return with their daughter to find their Alpha.
