Chapter Nine – Observations, Training and A Secret Revealed
Yang sighed as she felt Ruby move on top of her lap again, the renewed and extra lap sitting was something she blamed Pyrrha for. Now, Yang loved Ruby with all her heart, but the girl could not stay still in any position for the last hour. And even though Yang herself wasn't known to stay still either, she was tired today.
It was Saturday evening, after a long day of training. Training that she didn't think she was 100% ready for, based on what she was feeling.
Now it was only tomorrow and then back to classes with no break until the end of semester. So that was 2 more boring months until the second semester.
The second semester was looking to be more interesting than the first with the tournament, the festival and their first mission. Yang was looking forward to all three things a lot. Anything really to get her out of Port's and Oobleck's classes.
Ultimately Yang was happy that this week was finally over. Their close victory against Pyrrha was still the crowning moment of the week and the talk of the school. She was a bit surprised about how many people recorded the fight and shared the recording.
Even her dad and Qrow called earlier today to congratulate them, which turned into a blow by blow of the fight.
Though unfortunately for their Wednesday, after dinner Goodwitch called them all back and turned their fight into an hours long lesson. Where Goodwitch went over their fight in great detail and called out every bad move they made and every issue they had.
Yang already knew all of them, they weren't coordinated enough, the got in each other's way, they didn't adapt enough to Pyrrha's fighting style, they had very few backup strategies and they let Pyrrha direct the fighting even with their 4 to 1 advantage.
Yang was surprised though with how happy Pyrrha seemed when Goodwitch turned to criticize her. Highlights were that Pyrrha didn't use her semblance enough, that Pyrrha make a few too many risky moves and that Pyrrha didn't force some attacks. But with a 4 on 1 fight, some things could be forgiven.
Yang rested her head on the soft leather headrest of the couch as Ruby moved again.
One thing Yang could appreciate was that their fight against Pyrrha and their win lit a kind of fire she hadn't seen before in her team and even in herself. Hell, even in Ruby. They wanted to train more, fight more, plan more. So that the next time they fought a even stronger Pyrrha, they would win.
The last two days of their training week were thankfully kind of boring, her team did well in both trainings, Pyrrha rocked as always and Jaune did surprisingly well planning against the other teams and bots. Jaune's planning even caught them in a trap. Being surrounded by the four of them didn't lead to a good time.
So Yang was pretty confident in saying that team RWBY and team JNPR, even with a not so good Jaune, were the two best teams in first year. The tournament was shaping up to be interesting. Team RWBY versus team JNPR…
Today was thankfully interesting, only because their new outfits came and they did a lot of sparring and fighting to test their outfits. It was a tiring day unfortunately, as much as Yang liked fighting, she has been doing nothing much except fighting since Wednesday, so yeah, tiring.
Fortunately their new outfits fit and were so far awesome. They were a bit heavier than their last ones, but Yang liked hers a lot. Whatever they were made of also helped in blocking slashes from even Blake, so less of their aura was affected with each attack.
But they were slightly slower, something that Weiss was already making training plans for and already talking with Ruby. Yang honestly didn't think that Weiss needed to do so much work on convincing Ruby that their team needed to train… but what can you do with Weiss.
Ruby looked… awesome in her new outfit, it was a bit heavier and covered more than her old one. And it had too many extras on it for her tastes. But Ruby was happy with it. So Yang as happy for her.
Ruby's outfit did worry her a bit, only because Blake's smut books and Jaune's smut comics had girls in outfits similar to Ruby's and Yang did not know from where Ruby got her ideas for that outfit. Yang really hoped it wasn't from either source and that Ruby stayed away from the explicit activities her kind of outfit featured in…
Yang frowned and tried to throw away a sudden thought of Ruby riding Jaune as hard as she could…
Yang turned her attention to the common room that they took over for the evening. Blake was sitting beside her looking very confused at the TV. Yang did not blame her, the show that Nora and Ren picked was some sort of Mistral drama or… soap opera and Yang was shocked that Ren watched them. Or that Nora watched them.
But aside from that Yang thought that Blake seemed happier by the end of this week, which was nice. A happy Blake wasn't one that you saw often. Blake also looked like she liked her new outfit as well. Which Yang did appreciate. What did annoy her a bit was Pyrrha's knowing smile about that fact.
That damn vision letting Pyrrha know things and secrets about Blake that she, Blake's partner didn't know…
Yang grumbled about the unfairness of that for a moment in her head. In a stroke of good timing the music from the show went all dramatic for a scene where a reveal came that 3 sets of triplets all cheated on each other… somehow.
Yang guessed that she obviously missed the episodes that had the cheating. So yeah, 9 way cheating… what shape would that be… or was there even more cheating happening between the 9…
Why did Ren like this show again?
She could see Nora maybe liking the drama and plot twists…
Though out of the corner of her eye she could see Weiss gasping as she leaned closer to the screen. What? Weiss was getting into this show… Yang couldn't decide if that was something that she should have expected or a surprise. Honestly she would have considered Weiss too… uninterested… for the drama that soap operas depended on.
Anyways.
Though the biggest change today was Weiss and her outfit, from what she said it was similar to what her sister wears as part of the Atlas military. And Yang had to admit it did look good on Weiss. It did also make her look like a boy with long hair as well, which she had to let Weiss know. Weiss's expression at her comment was pretty funny.
Yang felt a smirk grow on her face.
Looking over at their sister team made her feel… not jealous or envious but… something like that… they were the picture of two couples watching a show together and it annoyed Yang. Sure, she wasn't looking for any romance and she didn't think that she would for a while, but…
It was just an ugh scene.
Nora somehow found herself squeezed against Ren's side, on the lounge chair that he picked when they start watching the show. Nora looked a bit too happy cuddling against Ren. Pointing things in the show out to him. Ren commenting back softly to her. It was a touching scene. She even caught Ren smiling a few times.
Yang sighed and looked over to happy couple number two. Pyrrha was happily sitting sideways in Jaune's lap. Her legs thrown over the side of the lounger they were sitting on. Her butt firmly placed in Jaune's lap, head on his shoulder. The two of them softly talking to each other.
Yang did for a moment wonder if Pyrrha could feel Jaune's dick sitting like that. She felt a slight blush grow on her face once she finished her thought. That morning still popped up in her mind from time to time, where she and her team saw what Jaune was… packing…
She blinked and forced her thoughts away from what people had or were feeling below their belts.
Team JNPR's new outfits were kind of… less… interesting, Jaune and Pyrrha went for heavier armor while Nora and Ren stuck to something similar to what they already had. They did look good though.
Overall she had to admit that Pyrrha's shopping trip turned out great. Their new outfits did kind of make them look more like real huntresses and huntsmen. And their outfits were all free. Which Yang just loved. If Pyrrha wanted to pay for any more of her clothes then she would be first in line.
Yang smiled and turned her attention back to the screen where there was now a dramatic reveal of who the fathers were for 3 babies. Yang hummed and tilted her head. What was this show?
Were the babies because of the cheating?
A thought came to her. She smirked.
"It was obviously all of them, you just know they had some sort of incestuous 9 way." Yang said with a growing smirk.
The gasps, Jaune choking on his drink, Weiss's "YANG" and Ruby's "Filth" made her chuckle. Blake's wide eyes and "Oh" made Yang laugh and wrap an arm around Blake's back, pulling her against her side.
"What, your smut books don't have scenes like that? I thought those kind of relationships were more… common in them?" Yang nearly purred out, unknowingly into Blake's cat ear. Causing Blake to shudder a bit under her arm.
Yang beheld a second round of gasps and Nora laughing. Weiss's splutter and Ruby's sideways glance were hilarious.
Blake trying to push herself away while exclaiming that "My books are not smut and they… don't have scenes like that…." made Yang laugh even more as she pulled Blake even closer to her.
"Don't worry Blakey, I won't judge your fetishes." Yang said proudly. Still chuckling. And patting Blake on the shoulder.
For which she was punched by both Blake and Ruby. "Yang!" they said in stereo.
"Okay, okay, sorry, but you have to admit, if the writers of this show could make a 3 triplet 9 way happen, they would." Yang said has she raise her hands up to show that she surrendered.
Nora's nod and "You know, I think that they would…" made her day. Weiss glared at her one more time before she went back to watching the show.
Ruby just sighed loudly in her lap as she leaned back against her front.
Blake also sighed loudly was she leaned against her shoulder. Yang smiled, at least she didn't make Blake angry or too annoyed.
Yang turned back to watch the show, still not looking forward to going back to regular classes.
- Scene Break -
Time passed as it always did and everyone got busy with classes, studying, assignments and training. A lot of training. Both team JNPR and team RWBY became such regulars of training room 8 over the last three weeks that it almost became their own private training room.
A team of 3rd years and two 4th year teams kept booking the room as well, but the upper year's booking times were generally during class hours or other times when they were busy. So it didn't impact their training much.
So a late Friday afternoon found both teams in training room 8. Ruby, Weiss and Blake were sitting up by the far wall talking strategy with Ren and Nora. All five catching their breath from the sparring they just finished.
Down in the arena Jaune was still in the middle of facing off against Yang as Pyrrha watched.
Jaune was feeling tired, he knew that he was getting slower, dodging slower, so he was getting hit more often. Jaune sidestepped a lazy left hook from Yang. After which he slashed at Yang with his sword. Yang deflected this attack and then moved forward quickly.
With a gasp Jaune brought up his shield and just managed to deflect one punch. The second then hit his shield with full force, shaking his arm. He then had to quickly move back to dodge a slow kick. Jaune was happy that Yang was treating their spar as a spar and going easier than normal.
Though it was still Yang so no matter how easy she was going her punches and kicks still hurt when they hit. She was just not trying to pound him into the floor. Which Jaune appreciated a lot.
Jaune was also very happy with his training over the last 3 weeks, Pyrrha had him developing his foot work even more and thankfully his good dancing skills were helping him in his footwork and dodging. Sure he was called some names for some of his dodges, but twirling to dodge Cardin never got old.
Jaune also sparred with all of his teammates and all of team RWBY, Yang and Weiss being his primary team RWBY sparring partners. Ruby and his fighting styles didn't work out to good spars and Blake was too slippery of a fighter for him to touch. So also not a beneficial fight.
He did take part in a few of spars where Yang was trying to teach Ruby how to fight without her weapon. Those were pretty fun. Ruby was a terrible hand to hand fighter. Though her kicks were strong. So Yang was teaching Ruby some sort of kickboxing which Jaune gladly took part in as well.
Nora was as difficult a fight as always, but he managed to deflect and block more and more of her attacks. And the few times that one of his attacks did hit he did take a chunk of her aura. So progress on that front as well.
Sparring with Ren was also as difficult as always, Ren wasn't as strong as Yang, Nora or Pyrrha or as quick as Ruby or Blake but he was a very solid fighter that knew how to hit and could dodge almost any of his attacks. Though Jaune was feeling like he was getting closer to evening out their fights.
The spars did reinforced just how out of his league he was fighting against them. But he did preform better and better in each spar so Jaune was very happy. It was just like Pyrrha told him, he was a novice compared to them so he could only get better. And that he will catch up to them soon enough.
Jaune groaned as a left hook from a rapid punch combo hit his shoulder. Jaune sent a shield bash at Yang who brought up her right arm to block his shield with her gauntlet. A loud metallic clang sounded throughout the room. Which caused the five of their friends talking strategy to look at them.
Jaune pushed forward with his shield for a second, keeping Yang's right arm busy blocking, as he adjusted his grip on his sword slightly. A second later he drew his shield back suddenly while at the same time sending a stab at Yang's stomach.
He saw Yang smile and felt something bad coming his way. Yang didn't catch herself or even try to stabilize her footing. She fell forward as he drew his shield back and seeing his sword she twisted to dodge his stab.
A moment later Jaune pulled back from the stab and twisted to the right to try and dodge whatever Yang would do next. He felt Yang's right foot come down on his left pinning it in place. Which upset his balance.
Jaune tried to catch himself as he threw a wild pommel strike at Yang.
That didn't work. Yang pressed forward dodging his strike and put even more weight on his stuck foot. She then wound up for another left hook which Jaune instinctively leaned back to avoid.
As he brought his sword and shield up to block or deflect her punch, Yang now smiling wider, all of a sudden stopped her punch and along with her right arm, which Jaune didn't notice coming up, she brought both her arms together. Then before he could do anything, she smacked both his arms to the sides.
She then laughed and hopped up, hitting him in the stomach and chest with both of her knees.
Which, along with him leaning back and his arms off to the side, completely destroyed his balance. Jaune fell down backwards and landed on his back, smacking the back of his head. His sword and shield both hit the arena floor a second later.
A second after that Jaune oofed as Yang fell on top of him with her knees hitting his stomach again.
Yang laughed as she sat down on Jaune's waist and pull her right arm up, readying a hard punch.
"So, Jauney, you give?" Yang asked with a wide smirk on her face.
Yang was kind of winded, her breathing was deeper than normal, she felt sweat on her face, her glorious hair was kind of sticking to her neck, heating her up even more. She felt an odd bruise or two on her arms, where she blocked his attacks and her knees were in some pain since she just smacked them against the edge of his armour.
Jaune, surprisingly, kept giving her good workouts this week. Pyrrha's training was really paying off for him. And her training as well. Jaune was kind of like a sponge, taking anything she or Pyrrha or anyone else told him or showed him and trying it out or learning from it.
That along with his large amounts or aura and pretty extensive endurance made him a pretty good sparring buddy. Plus he kept moving and tried to dodge most of her attacks, so she had to keep moving as well.
So a pretty good workout if she didn't go all out on him.
Yang sat down on Jaune harder to make her point that her next punch to his face would hurt.
A moment after her question Jaune bucked up sending her airborne for a second. She saw that Jaune was bringing his arms up to maybe try and hit her with his shield. Well, she couldn't allow that, could she.
As Yang came back down she placed her hands on Jaune's armour and tensed her center, bringing her legs up to a 90 degree angle to her chest and parallel to Jaune laying on the floor.
Once Jaune's arms were close enough she swung her legs down and with a grunt, she pinned Jaune's arms to his side. It was kind of painful, Jaune's shield dug into her thigh. Thankfully she knocked his sword away with her leg hitting his hand, but that still did sting.
Yang sat back down on Jaune's waist again. This time even harder. And brought her arm back up for a punch.
"Good try there loverboy, but not good enough. So, you give?" Yang said as she rolled her butt around on Jaune's waist, much to the displeasure of Pyrrha who said "Yang, don't do that!"
Jaune sighed and dropped his head back. "I give, I give."
He then heard Yang yell "Jauney boy has been defeated. Beacon has been saved." As she threw her arms up like she was really celebrating a great victory.
Yang's movement did bring his attention to where she sat, her butt on his waist. Which she kept moving. Rubbing. Jaune groaned and closed his eyes. Trying to keep himself together.
Yang was too hot to be doing anything she was currently doing on top of him. He could feel her firm butt moving on top of him. He could feel her firm legs press more against his arms. He could feel Yang's warmth. Well considering her semblance…
Yang brought her arms back down and let out a breath as she now really put her pretty light weight on Jaune.
"So then Jaune, I believe we had a bet and as I still have more than 80% of my aura…." Yang said in a teasing tone as she pointed to the screen that showed their aura levels. 85% for her and 41% for him.
"I never agreed to that bet, it was Nora that did." Jaune replied turning his head to glare at a smiling and waving Nora.
"Well you are the team leader of JNPR, so you should take responsibility for your team right?" Yang said smiling widely, still in her teasing tone.
"Yeah, Jaune-Jaune, you are our fearless leader, you can't back out of a bet." Nora said nodding to herself.
Jaune groaned "But… It wasn't MY bet!"
Yang leaned down and placed her right hand on top of Jaune's head, ruffling his surprisingly soft hair. "A team bet is still a bet." Yang did hear a sharp intake of air beside her. Looking over she saw that Pyrrha was almost right beside them.
Well her fun will be over soon.
"Ugh, fine, I lost the bet… I know you won't leave me alone until I agreed." Jaune said closing his eyes and sighing deeply. Trying to send the image of Yang leaning down on top of him out of his mind. Thank the Gods that her new outfit showed less of her boobs.
Yang chuckled "You know me too well. Well then, next weekend we are going dancing, I hope your wallet is ready for it. I haven't gone out in a while."
Jaune blinked "So that's the 'have to do, no questions asked thing' you want from me?" he asked a bit confused, he liked dancing. And dancing with Yang didn't seem like a bad thing… was he missing something?
Yang smirked and leaned close to Jaune, her face right in front of his, her nearly laying her chest down on top of his armour. "You have something else in mind Jauney that you wanted me to ask you to do?" Yang purred out.
Jaune felt a blush explode on his face as Yang kept smirking at him. A second later he heard "Alright, that's enough of that, Yang please get off of Jaune." Coming from Pyrrha who was now standing beside Yang.
Yang sat back up and looked at Pyrrha, who was not glaring at her, but starring at her with a hard look. "Okay, okay, no need to get your panties in a bunch Pyrrha, I'll get off your boytoy here." She said as she stood up. And ignored the now familiar tension that always grew when Pyrrha starred at her like that.
Yang then saw girlfriend mode engage for Pyrrha as she lost her hard look when she turned to lean down and help Jaune up. After which Pyrrha patted Jaune down as if he wasn't wearing armour and was hurt everywhere.
Yang did have a thought to tease Pyrrha even more, but it looked like she was at the limit of what Pyrrha would accept and Yang wasn't up for a 'friendly' spar with Pyrrha at the moment. Those always hurt way too much if she wasn't at 100% from the start.
Yang did briefly consider asking Jaune to do something embarrassing for the bet, like running naked through the cafeteria or around the grounds of Beacon. But she knew what Pyrrha would say to that. She did think about just asking him to buy her something or maybe doing her homework for some classes.
But those were boring things to ask for. So between making sure that Pyrrha wouldn't kill her, that Ruby wouldn't be mad at her or sad at her and that it would still be a good thing to ask for, Yang was stumped.
Until Jaune almost glided away from one of her kicks. At that moment she remembered that Jaune could dance. And dance well if she remembered correctly. So him going with her to a club and paying for everything sounded like a good idea.
It also had the added benefit of teasing Jaune and more importantly Pyrrha. Sure Yang knew that Pyrrha would have some sort of revenge against her for basically stealing Jaune for a night out, where she would be touching him.
But it was still an idea too good to pass up.
So now Yang was looking forward to next Saturday.
Yang smiled at Pyrrha "Good fight Jaune, just keep working on what you have been working on and next time will be even more fun." She said as she gave Jaune a lazy half salute and walked over to her team. Who were all looking at her wide eyed.
"What?" Yang asked raising her eyebrow.
Back in the arena Pyrrha finished giving Yang a cold look and turned her attention to Jaune. He was getting better and doing so quicker than she thought. He was lasting longer and taking less damage against Yang every time they sparred. Which was very good.
Yang was a very good fighter, better than a definite percentage of adult huntsmen. So for Jaune to do as well as he has been doing. It only made Pyrrha more optimistic.
But she had a more pressing concern. Yang and her night out dancing. Though the concern really was Yang in general. Pyrrha wasn't sure if Yang was just messing around with Jaune… or her, but over the last few weeks she got closer to Jaune than Pyrrha preferred honestly.
So like with Ruby and Weiss something to keep an eye on. Though Pyrrha would really like to know why Team RWBY was behaving like they were with Jaune. They weren't so close to him last time. Now all she needed was Blake to find out how great Jaune is and she would have the whole team to worry about…
In any case, Pyrrha refocused on Jaune and hugged him.
"You did great Jaune, your not hurt anywhere?" Pyrrha asked, lightly nuzzling into his neck.
"Thanks Pyrrha, I'm good, Yang was going easier on me than normal" Jaune answered smiling at her nuzzling. And rested his head against her soft, silky hair.
Over the last 3 weeks Pyrrha kept up her affection and at times became even more affectionate. She unfortunately still had nightmares and… episodes… from time to time so she also kept sleeping in his bed.
And Jaune honestly liked it all way too much. Except the vision caused panic attacks, he really hated them. What they cased Pyrrha to feel…
But everything else, it was good. He got so much closer and… more… with Pyrrha over the last month.
At times it really felt like Pyrrha was his girlfriend, two third years even said they acted like if they were one of those cuddly married couples. And Jaune was enjoying it. He honestly forgot how he was happy sleeping alone all those years when compared to having Pyrrha in his bed. How he ever relaxed without Pyrrha in his lap or cuddling with her.
Their much too rare meals alone together that felt so much like dates.
Jaune couldn't count how many times he wanted to kiss her, couldn't count how many thoughts he had of having sex with her. He had so many half dreams and stray thoughts of how they would live together in 20 years with maybe a couple of kids.
Jaune sighed at how… sappy… his thoughts were, how quickly he wanted all these relationship and domestic things when a girl showed him some affection. Sure the woman was Pyrrha, probably the most… awesome… perfect woman to exist, and he felt like the affection she gave would have broken a lesser boy. But still, he did not want to imagine Pyrrha's reaction if she knew what he was thinking.
"What it is?" he heard Pyrrha ask him.
Jaune could only smile more "Ah, nothing, just happy that sparring is done for today. Let's go get some food… after a shower."
Pyrrha smiled and nodded. And gave Jaune another hug before she let him go to take a shower.
"So, you enjoying the view?" Pyrrha heard Yang ask as she came up to stand beside her.
"Enjoying the view of…?" Pyrrha asked seeing Yang exchange a series of looks with Blake and Ruby who came up to stand beside Yang. Weiss just shook her head and walked to the woman's locker room to change and shower. Nora bounced along beside Weiss still talking about fire dust, after she gave Ren a big hug.
Yang smirked at her "Your training is really paying off for Jaune, he is no longer the noodle-boy we knew and loved."
Pyrrha held back the groan and/or sigh that Yang was probably looking for. Jaune did change a lot in the last 2 months. "Yes, it's good to see him becoming who he can be." Pyrrha then turned to look at Yang "I have to thank you for training him as well."
Yang shrugged "Well we are all training against each other so… no problem, he is a decent punching bag…" She trailed thinking that Pyrrha was getting too unflappable for her own good.
Pyrrha smiled "I have to thank you both as well Ruby and Blake, I know that you both don't train with him all that much, but I appreciate the time you to give. And I know that Jaune appreciates it as well."
Pyrrha was treated to a bashful Blake and a blushing Ruby. "Well Jaune's our friend, of course we'll help him." Ruby said with a happy smile after a second of blushing.
Yang let out a breath "You're just too nice sometimes Pyrrha…" she said lightly and shook her head "I'm gonna go shower, my hair is a mess. Jaune is lucky I didn't hold him responsible."
Yang walked off, Ruby running to catch her after saying bye.
After a moment of silence Pyrrha turned her attention to Blake who was still standing beside her, "Yes? You have something you want to ask me Blake?" Pyrrha asked kindly. She knew how flighty Blake could be.
Blake took a deep breath, this was her chance, no one was here, everyone showering, cameras were off, the training room door was locked from the inside and she would hear if anyone opened the locker room doors.
"You know who I am right?" Blake asked softly.
Pyrrha gave Blake a hopefully kind smile. "Blake Belladonna, proud faunus and past member of the White Fang." She said softly as well in an also hopefully gentle voice. Pyrrha was nervous, very nervous. The revelation of Blake's past caused a bunch of issues with and for team RWBY and it got them involved with Roman, Adam and Cinder.
Pyrrha really hoped that if the facts of Blake's past came out in a better way, they wouldn't cause the fight or any arguments. And wouldn't cause the interaction with Roman and the White Fang that happened. It would be a lose-lose for her friends if that was the case.
So yeah, Pyrrha knew that if she played this correctly then a better outcome could be had. But if she didn't play this right, then… could there be a worse option…
Blake held back her gasp, but she felt her eyes open wide. Pyrrha knew, Blake knew that Pyrrha probably did know. Pyrrha did say that she came from an island and that her mother's name was Kali… There was always the chance that Pyrrha didn't know everything… but it looked like she did.
Blake looked into Pyrrha's calm eyes and sighed, now that she gathered her courage she had to know. "How did it go over when my team found out…" She asked softly.
Pyrrha held back an instinctive frown. "Last… time… for the lack of a better word, you weren't as close to your team as you are now, no cuddling during movie nights, no team strategy sessions, no fighting together against me." Pyrrha lost her small smile from the cuddling when she paused.
"So, for some context, the information came out at a bad time and in a bad way. A friend to be was running away from the cops and Weiss made some comments about him that you disagreed with. You argued with her and blurted out the information." Pyrrha paused again and turned fully towards Blake.
"A bit unusual behavior for you, but I guess the situation made you do it." Pyrrha sighed as she saw Blake tense.
"It did not go over well with Weiss and your actions afterwards annoyed Yang and made Ruby… sad…" Pyrrha said and was interrupted by Blake.
"My actions? What did I do?" Blake asked curious, but feeling her shoulders tense up even more.
"You panicked and ran way from your team. You were gone from a couple days and got involved in a… bad… situation…" Pyrrha really didn't want to say anything about Roman or the White Fang as she wasn't 100% sure that Blake wouldn't freak out and run off to hunt them down.
Blake gulped and nodded, she could see how if she did all that, it could make her team even more angry and annoyed at her. "But.. after that… how did they take it… how did Weiss take it?" Blake asked, a bit more sure of herself and her growing urge to tell her team.
She needed to, and it felt like a good time, but if it didn't go well before… thankfully it sounded like the only real problems were how her team found out and how she reacted. But if Weiss didn't get past it, then how could her team work together ?
Pyrrha smiled and placed a hand on Blake's shoulder, feeling how tense she was. Her action also caused Blake's eyes to shoot up to hers. "You should know by now, none of them had a problem with you being a faunus. Your White Fang involvement was an issue with Weiss for a little while. But once they found you after your disappearing act Weiss kind of accepted it and moved on." Pyrrha said softy.
"You didn't take it well either, you kind of got obsessed with holding the White Fang to account and that hurt your team as well." Pyrrha commented and squeezed Blake's shoulder a bit harder to make her point.
A warning if Blake ever heard one. She nodded "So if I tell them now…" she trailed off.
"I think you may need to explain your involvement to Weiss, the why and how and what missions you did. Also why you left. That will be important for your team to hear. Maybe your family history… But they will accept you and care for you as they do now. We all will." Pyrrha said with a large smile as she took her hand off Blake's shoulder.
"All?" Blake asked blinking.
"You tell my team as well and like you can probably guess, we have no issues with you." Pyrrha said as she leaned down to Blake's hidden kitty ear. "Though Nora and Ruby do want to touch your ears and I think that you let your team rub them once." Pyrrha smirked at Blake as she let out a heated breath onto one of Blake's ears.
Blake felt a shudder run down her spine and a blush grow on her face. Right. Pyrrha made her point. And Blake had all her questions answered. "Thanks Pyrrha." She said in a much happier tone. A bit out of breath, but that was Pyrrha's fault. Playing around like that.
Pyrrha nodded "Let's get to our showers, the rest are probably wondering why we are not there."
They both smiled at each other and walked to the locker room.
- Scene Break -
A few hours later and team RWBY was relaxing in their room after a pretty short dinner. For an early Friday evening the cafeteria was very busy. Which was weird, but that was just an afterthought for Ruby.
Ruby was sitting on her bed, playing a new fighting game on her scroll but she wasn't paying much attention to the game either. Her attention was actually focused on Blake, who was acting too Blake like for it to be normal.
Blake was a quiet person, but the last month saw Blake losing her monotonous voice and the unexpressive look that she kept up. Actual Blake was more sarcastic and expressive and at times even cute. And she was missing all that since the training ended.
So Ruby was wondering what could have happened.
Ruby knew that Yang was wondering also. She could see Yang's attention constantly drifting to Blake since dinner and Ruby was guessing who would ask Blake what was wrong first.
Now Ruby knew that Blake wasn't the best with emotional issues, so digging into an issue she was currently going through… may not be the best idea…
But Ruby also knew that she had to know what was going on with her friend and she knew that Yang would just blurt it out without thinking so… it was up to her. Ruby felt a sense of worry grow in her. What if she messed it up and made Blake pull away from them even more?
Ruby placed her scroll to the side and nervously flexed her fingers. She looked over the room and saw Blake sitting on her bed, book in hand, but not reading it. Yang was on her scroll as well, sitting in one of the chairs, but also not doing anything on it, she kept looking over to Blake.
Weiss looked confused, also not paying attention to her book and looking back and forth between Blake and Yang. An empty page in front of her on the desk.
Ruby nodded to herself, she was the leader of her team, she couldn't always depend on Yang and Weiss taking the lead. She needed to take the lead. Plus over the last month she got a lot more comfortable directing her team during a spar.
So this was nothing different. Just another team spar. This time against Blake's worries instead of Pyrrha.
Ruby let out a light breath and then took a deep breath for good measure. Everyone always said that people needed to take a deep breath to calm down and before speaking. Ruby turned around on her bed and hopped off. Drawing the attention of everyone in the room.
"Okay, umm, not to pry, but, Blake is something going on? You seem tense and, umm, withdraw since dinner…" Ruby asked looking up at Blake to also moved to sit at the edge of her bed.
"Yes, thank you Rubes, Blake what's up? Even Ruby noticed." Yang jumped in, standing up from the chair and moving to rest on the edge of the table so that she could look at Blake.
Blake took a deep breath after she heard Ruby's question. She saw Weiss also move around her chair to face her direction, looking up at her. Blake nodded to herself, she should tell them, the longer she didn't, the more it would worry her and the more her team would notice.
Pyrrha did say that there should be no issues.
And Ruby was starting to look really sad. Sad for her. Blake wondered when was the last time someone was sad for her…
Blake hopped down from her bed and turned to face her team. Ruby standing in front of her, Yang and Weiss at the two desks on both sides of the door, behind Ruby. She could do this, she needed to do this. If Blake ever wanted her team to really trust her then they needed to know her. Know all of her.
Like Pyrrha knew her and seemed to trust her, at least treated her like she did everyone else on her team. Maybe treated her even better than Yang and Weiss, but Blake guessed that that was something to do with Jaune so that was their fault.
Blake gathered her courage for the second time today, finding it a fair bit harder to do than with Pyrrha. She nodded at Ruby.
"Yes, there is something I wanted to talk to you all about, something you don't know about me. And I asked Pyrrha for advice since she already knew it because of her… vision." Blake said as calmly as she could. She still felt very weird saying vision and meaning… what was happening in her life…
Yang tensed a bit, Pyrrha's knowing smile coming up again in her mind. It was already getting old for her, feeling… jealous or uneasy because Pyrrha knew more about her partner than she did. That vision did a bunch of good for her team already, they were all stronger and smarter and closer, but the fact that Pyrrha knew even more…
Ruby nodded smiling at Blake, hoping to send her the feeling of being able to tell her anything.
Weiss raised an eyebrow, something that they didn't know about Blake… was it possible that her faunus theory that she kept in the back of her head was right… Weiss didn't really care if Blake was a faunus, it would explain a few things from the beginning of the year. Namely Blake's attitude towards her back then.
"I know that keeping this from you all for so long wasn't the best idea on my part. Since it could make it seem like I don't trust you all, which I do. You three have become my… closest friends… in a very short time. But I wasn't sure what your reaction could be when we became a team so I didn't tell you then. And then I just kept delaying because I still wasn't sure of your reaction." Blake said, still trying to keep her voice calm.
Blake took another deep breath and then reached up. With tense fingers she undid her bow, seeing it drop down in front of her. She felt her ears stand up and move around, finally free of the bow.
Blake looked at her team, Ruby was looking at her ears with wide eyes and a bit of a smile, she remembered what Pyrrha said about Ruby wanting to touch her ears. Yang looked her up and down before also focusing on her ears and smiling. Blake wondered if she let Yang rub her ears before… she felt some heat build up on her face.
Weiss's reaction though was the most interesting, she seemed smug for a moment before her expression turned a bit unreadable. What could she be thinking and why would Weiss be smug about her revealing that she is a faunus…
Ruby held back a 'aww' that threatened to come out. Blake's ears were so cute. They looked soft as well. Ruby wondered if Blake would like her touch them. Ruby then felt sad and kind of mad that Blake felt like she had to hide her ears. But she did see what Cardin did to Velvet. And she could only guess what other people did…
But still, it's not like any of them said anything bad about faunus, Ruby thought that they were all pretty supportive of faunus. Maybe they weren't supportive enough or maybe something happened to Blake that made her unsure…
But they were her team, her friends, Ruby wanted to make sure that Blake knew that she had all of team RWBY's support… maybe it was because of Weiss… nah, maybe at the beginning, but not now, after Blake got to know all of them.
Yang felt a smile grow as she looked over Blake in her true form. The ears looked good on Blake and the ears looked soft. Really soft. Yang wondered if Blake would let her, her partner, touch them. The ears also brought up what Cardin did to Velvet and what she saw here and there. Humans hassling faunus. Even attacking them.
Yang stepped up when she could, but maybe she didn't do it enough… No one took care of Cardin yet. Maybe she should. There had to be something Blake was seeing or wasn't seeing that cased her to hesitate telling them that she is a faunus. Yang felt like she owed Blake a hug… and maybe ear rubs…
Weiss felt vindicated, something she researched and theorized came true. Blake is a faunus. Weiss kept feeling proud for a moment before a couple annoying thoughts entered her mind. Why didn't Blake tell them sooner? Was it because of her? Her family's or more accurately her father's treatment of faunus.
Blake had to know that Weiss was nothing like her father. Weiss honestly didn't care much if a person was a human or faunus. But she knew how faunus were treated in Atlas. And she knew that she didn't do much or say anything really about it. She treated everyone as equal, but maybe people thought that she was like her father…
Was that why Blake was cold to her when they met? Blake thought that she was like her father. But she had to by now, now that they got to know each other. They even became what Ruby called 'reading buddies'. Blake had to know that she was nothing like her father.
The second thought that came to her head was tied to the fact that there had to be another reason that Blake didn't tell them. Wait. What was Blake's last name… Blake Belladonna, could her other theory be true. Was Blake the daughter or Ghira. The founder of the modern White Fang.
But Ghira stepped away from leading the White Fang years ago, Blake would have been a small child when Sienna Khan took over the White Fang… Did Blake stay in the White Fang?
Weiss held a composed expression on her face. She wasn't sure what she would think if Blake actually was part of the violent White Fang. Weiss knew that Blake is a good person, based on all that she could see and based on how Blake acted. So was Blake part of the White Fang…
After giving everyone a few moments to processes the fact that she is a faunus, Blake let out another breath and tried to gather even more courage to tell them about the White Fang. And force out the thoughts and impulses that were yelling at her to leave. To run.
No, she couldn't run, she had to tell them everything. Thankfully so far it was going like Pyrrha said.
So as she saw all three of their mouths opening to probably ask her questions, Blake held up one hand and continued talking "Yes, I'm a faunus, and before you ask any questions, which I promise to answer. There is one more thing. Please let me say it first. It's a long explanation."
This was it, the make or break moment. She felt something inside her push her to start talking.
"Well… um… you see, my dad is Ghira, and Ruby, Yang, since I'm not sure if you know it. Weiss does. My dad founded the modern White Fang to protest the treatment of faunus and to show all the humans that the treaties and agreements signed after the last war weren't being upheld." Blake paused for a second to gather her thoughts. She could she Weiss's widening eyes and the curious looks from Yang and Ruby.
"My dad led the Fang for years, with my mom helping. And since I was old enough I was at every protest I could be. I wanted to stand up for the rights of the faunus and to help my parents. But… my dad's methods were considered ineffective by a lot of members of the White Fang. They always thought back to the war and the fact that we won." Blake looked over her team again. She could see Weiss's expression darkening. Yang's and Ruby's faces were also now sporting frowns.
"So a more… militant faction of the White Fang lead by Sienna approached my dad to talk about changing tactics. To go from protesting to attacking the humans and companies that held faunus down. That discriminated against us. My dad didn't agree. He believed that we could achieve equality only through peaceful means. Violence begets more violence if you know the quote." Blake paused for a second again, feeling tension build inside her.
"My dad's refusal led to a lot of arguing and ultimately a coup. Sienna got most of the higher ups to agree with her vision for the White Fang and when she approached my dad again. He stepped down from the leadership of the White Fang, my mom joined him stepping down from her position as well. Some others also left." Blake cleared her throat, feeling it close up on her. This was it.
"Sienna also talked to me and laid out her vision. How she wanted to lead the White Fang and make my dad's dream, the dream of the White Fang, come true…" Blake took a deep breath "I was young and angry and I believed her. Believed that my dad was too soft, too caring to do what had to be done. So I stayed in the White Fang. Took the position that Sienna offered me. All to help my people."
Blake heard Ruby gasp and Yang let out a deep breath. Weiss though, Weiss closed her eyes and started flexing her fingers.
Ruby was shocked, she didn't know much about the White Fang, but she knew that they attacked people. The SDC, Weiss's family's company most often. Ruby knew what it was like to care for something, to have a goal. And Blake only wanted to help the faunus, but to attack people…
Did Blake attack people? Did Blake kill anyone… Ruby had to know. But she didn't know how she would react. For now all she knew was that Blake was her friend who made a bad choice when she was a kid. Blake was here now so she had to realize that and leave the White Fang.
But did Blake do anything really bad? And what? Ruby wanted to ask, but she kept her mouth shut as Blake asked. Once Blake finished then Ruby had a lot of questions.
Yang blinked, Blake was part of the violent White Fang… Now Yang wasn't one to judge people on stupid decisions that someone made when they were kids. Kids were stupid. She made a few stupid decisions when she was a kid. Almost losing Ruby was the result of one.
What did matter Yang decided was when Blake left and what she did as a member. Yang really didn't know what she would do if Blake killed people… Blake was her partner and her closest non-sister friend. Yang really liked Blake, so she really didn't know what she would do if Blake did anything really bad.
Weiss didn't feel the proud vindication that she felt just a few minutes ago when another of her theories was shown to be true. Blake was part of the White Fang when her dad led it. That was fine, that was what Weiss expected. A family that protests together and all that.
But the fact that Blake stayed in the White Fang under Khan… What did Blake do? Did Blake attack any of her family members? Did Blake attack the SDC and hurt the employees? Did Blake plan any attack?
Thoughts and questions kept coming to her. Weiss closed her eyes and tried to focus. Like a few minutes ago, she knew that Blake was a good person. A good friend. But, like Blake said, she was young and angry. And young and angry people can do a lot of bad things and feel good that they did it…
Weiss wondered what a young and angry Blake would be capable of doing… and how she would react.
Blake swallowed the lump that built up in her throat in the few seconds that she paused to give her team a moment. To process everything that she said.
Thankfully none of them were leaving and none of them looked angry, even Weiss looked more pensive and unsure. Blake could guess what they were thinking, what she did as a White Fang member under Sienna. Blake nodded to herself and squared her shoulders.
"Umm, to cut to the chase. And to probably answer some of the questions you have. My time in the White Fang wasn't all that interesting from a missions point of view. I trained most of the time, gathered food, weapons and other resources, secured bases. I… I was partnered with Adam, I knew him since I was very young, I grew up with him. I didn't run much missions with him, not until my last couple years or so with the White Fang. Sienna had other plans for me." Blake sighed thinking how far gone Adam was, how he just became angrier and angrier.
Blake saw Weiss's eyes shoot open at Adam's name. Probably not the best person to mention, someone who killed SDC employees and people close to Weiss.
"I… I fought security robots at most and stole dust and other supplies from the SDC when I was on missions with Adam. But overlooking Adam getting consumed by his own anger was probably the… worst thing I've done. Not that I could have helped him much anyways, with how he started acting." Blake muttered the last sentence she said as she looked up at Weiss's shocked face. She saw Yang looking between her and Weiss with confusion in her eyes.
"I… argued against attacking normal employees, random people had nothing to do with how the SDC or Atlas treated us. But by that time… it might have already been too late for some in the White Fang. For them any human was a target." Blake shook her head, all her arguments, all her efforts, and for what? Just more death and destruction.
"So, by the time that I reconsidered Sienna's words, Adam's actions and the actions that the White Fang was taking, ideas and actions I bought into, supported and thought were necessary for years. I didn't see a positive outcome for the White Fang. We became feared and hated, not respected and feared like everyone was talking how we would be." Blake flexed her fingers, burning some of the tension that built up in her. Not looking at Weiss.
"I still hoped that we could turn around, I hoped that my friends in the White Fang weren't as far gone as some of the others… but it was too late. My last mission was to rob a SDC supply train with Adam, we destroyed the robots protecting the dust and weapons. I went to start piling it up. But Adam moved to the passenger car." Blake closed her eyes and clenched her teeth.
"He wanted to make an example, he wanted to attack them. I argued with him that we had what we came for. But he wouldn't listen…" Blake paused and let out a shuddering breath. "Someone I grew up with, cared for, even l… one of the people I was closest to and admired. And he wanted to kill innocent civilians."
Blake opened her eyes, seeing the shock on all three of her teammate's faces. Ruby had her hands over her mouth. Yang kept clenching her fists. And Weiss was looking at her with wide eyes.
Blake sighed deeply "I think that's when it really hit me, actually hit me. I knew that the White Fang was violent, I knew that we stole, I knew that we kidnapped, I knew that we killed. But I don't think it ever just hit me, what we did. What I helped the White Fang do. And here it was, right in front of me."
"So I said no to Adam, and moved to defend the passengers. I fought with him and managed to decouple the train cars. I left him there. I left the White Fang there was well. I… I then made my way to Vale and applied to Beacon, met with the headmaster and was allowed to tryout… Was allowed to try and start making up for what I helped the White Fang do." Blake paused and smiled at her team. A kind of fragile smile that she didn't know that she was capable of.
"So now I'm here." Blake said spreading her arms wide. She let out a breath that was stuck somewhere in her throat since she started speaking. She did strangely feel lighter, but far more tense. The weight on her shoulders was gone, but in its place her shoulders and back felt… tense… coiled…
Fortunately no one on her team looked ready to punch her or run.
Ruby could only blink. Her eyes wide open, her mouth wide open in surprise and shock. It wasn't great, what Blake did. She stole dust and weapons. But thankfully she didn't kill anyone or really attack anyone. And she came to her senses. Protected people. Left when she really realized how bad the White Fang was.
Ruby was happy that Blake did leave when she did. That Blake was on her team. Ruby looked at Blake standing in front of her. A sad, tired expression on her face, a smile so thin that it might have been a grimace. Ruby didn't really know what to think.
Ruby was in no way ready for the fact that her team would have a reluctant and caring ex-terrorist on it. Which was a weird thing… oh, the White Fang must have been where Blake learned all those team attack strategies…
But Ruby didn't feel like her feelings about Blake changed much. She actually felt a little better knowing why Blake kept her past and fact that she is a faunus a secret for so many months. Ruby did wonder if she was a bad person feeling that. Blake, supporting the White Fang, may have helped to hurt many people…
Ruby shook her head, she knew that Blake was a good person who fought for what she believed in. And fighting for the Faunus was a good cause. Unfortunately Blake fought with the wrong people and for the wrong reasons.
So now that Blake was fighting to be a huntress, to protect people, to protect faunus, it was for the right reasons. And her team was the right people. And Blake obviously wanted to make up for what she did as part of the White Fang.
Ruby decided that she couldn't hold the White Fang against Blake, Blake was a different person back then and she was trying to make up for it. Ruby would however try and keep an eye out for any White Fang things going on. Ruby had a gut feeling that Blake may want to get involved.
Ruby smiled at Blake "Thank you for telling us, for trusting us. It must have been hard. I have so many questions, but for now." Ruby rushed forward and caught Blake in a tight hug. Ruby felt Blake gently hug her back after a second of standing still, probably shocked by the hug.
Yang blinked, hearing all that was somewhat shocking, her partner, an ex-terrorist. It was a strange thing to think about, a bit exciting. Come on, Blake, calm and collected Blake, attacking SDC robots to steal dust and weapons. That was something Yang so wanted to see happen.
Yang knew that as much as it would have been awesome to see it wasn't a good thing. Those weapons and that dust was used for something. Best case was against Grimm, worst case, innocent people that were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Yang let a breath out. How did she feel though… she didn't like that Blake did help in hurting people. She was feeling somewhat better about Blake keeping everything a secret from them. Yang would have kept it a secret if it was her… or maybe just told everyone on day one to get it out of the way.
In any case Yang was confident that Blake is a good person who fights for what she believes in. If Yang felt any differently then she wouldn't have let Ruby anywhere near Blake. Yang is also sure that this Blake now, team RWBY's Blake, her partner, was different than the young and angry Blake that stayed in the White Fang.
In the end Yang could only do what she felt was the right thing. Blake realized that what the White Fang did was wrong, she left, she joined Beacon to make up for her mistakes. Yang would accept that. Nothing so far showed that Blake was anyone different than what she showed. Calm, sarcastic, moody at times, monotonous at other times.
Yang felt a smile grow on her face as she nodded to herself. She would only keep any eye out for any White Fang related activity to make sure that Blake wouldn't run off to right any wrongs.
Ruby suddenly hugging Blake caught Yang of guard for a second. Yang chuckled and followed after her sister. Wrapping her arms around both and squeezing them against her. Yang then chuckled "Now we know why you like tuna so much. And the ears do fit you. Are they as soft as they look?"
Weiss was both deeply shocked and kind of not. Her idea that Blake is a faunus and was part of the White Fang was in the back of her head so long that she kind of just embraced it. Assumed that it was true.
That Blake worked with Adam and stole dust and weapons. Attacked SDC robots and supply trains. That was what was more shocking. And unsettling. That because Blake did that, she may have help in hurting people. In killing SDC employees. In ransoming Atlas government employees. In killing and kidnapping Atlas military personnel.
Weiss looked at Blake. Really looked at her. Her feelings from before about Blake were still the same. Blake is a good person, she acted like she did back then because she was young and angry and maybe even a bit brainwashed. And she left once she realized the true actions of the White Fang and the harm that they did.
She entered Beacon to do good, to make up for what she did. But Weiss wasn't sure about a couple of things. One of the things that kept eating at the back of her mind from the start of Blake's explanation. If it was Beacon, team RWBY against the White Fang or faunus, what would Blake do?
Weiss was fairly confident that Khan kept the only important Belladonna in the White Fang out of the worst that the White Fang did. Blake was a PR object for Khan most likely. So Blake was probably not aware herself of all the things that the White Fang did when she was younger.
The other thing on Weiss's mind was that once Blake knew what the White Fang did, she didn't leave. She stole weapons and dust. And only once the actual violence of the White Fang was in front of her, being done by someone she knew. Only then did she leave.
And she worked with Adam, did missions with him. Adam who slaughtered SDC security guards and normal employees. Adam who beheaded one of her uncles. Adam who killed squads of Atlas soldiers.
Weiss really wasn't sure what to think about that. About how close Blake said she was with Adam and how she either didn't know or care enough about all his murderous actions.
Weiss kept looking at Blake, a Blake that had such a thin smile on her face it seemed like she was getting ready to be hit by them. Or more likely Blake was waiting for her reaction. Ruby and Yang probably knew some things about the White Fang. But she, Weiss Schnee, was very familiar with the White Fang and all their bloody attacks.
Weiss sighed. She knew that what Adam did had nothing much to do with Blake. And Blake did leave the White Fang with no direct blood on her hands. She did have second hand blood on her hands. And Ozpin accepted her to apply for Beacon, so he had to know her past as well.
And more importantly Pyrrha with her vision knew Blake's past and didn't treat her any different.
Weiss could only conclude that what she saw of Blake over the last almost 3 months was who she was. Mostly. A girl dedicated to fight for what was right. A girl who may not think things through. A girl who was disappointed and disillusioned by a cause she believed in with her whole heart and was now looking to redeem herself.
Weiss sighed again. She really wanted to hate Blake for being part of a group that terrorized her family, her company. But she couldn't. Her family and company weren't blameless and she herself joined Beacon to start making up for her family, for the SDC. She joined to start trying to change the SDC once she took control of it.
Ruby's sudden hug and Yang bringing both her sister and Blake into her hug caught Weiss of guard. She guessed that she was right. The sisters wouldn't really hold what Blake did against her.
Weiss saw that Yang and Ruby looked at her with questioning looks, Blake wasn't looking at her. Blake buried her face into Yang's neck and shoulder. But one of Blake's cat eats did turn towards her. Weiss could only sigh deeply.
"I'm not overly happy to learn that you worked with Adam. You know what he did to people working for the SDC, Atlas and the military. And you helped him do those attacks." Weiss saw Blake stiffen and bury her face even deeper into Yang. She also saw Yang hold Blake tighter against her as Ruby broke out of the hug and looked at her.
"But Blake…" Ruby started before Weiss cut in.
"I know, Blake didn't do the things that Adam did. And I honestly don't much care about the fact that Blake stole the weapons that the SDC was shipping. But… those weapons and dust was used by the White Fang." Weiss said in a calm voice, Blake curled into Yang even more. And Yang was now looking at her with a harder expression. Ruby was looking at her sadly.
Weiss sighed "I know that you left the White Fang once you realized what they did, but you had to have known for a while, as you argued with them, about what they did." Weiss saw Yang tighten her hug even more and Ruby walked up to her. Standing right in front of her with a very worried look on her face.
Weiss tilted her head up, looking at the ceiling. This wasn't going how she wanted. Weiss looked back down and at Blake, now basically fully curled up in Yang's arms.
Weiss sighed again "Blake?" she asked.
Blake lifted her head from Yang's shoulder and looked at Weiss.
Once Weiss got her eye contact she cleared her throat and walked a step forward to stand beside Ruby. She then placed her hand on Ruby's shoulder and squeezed it, giving Ruby a small smile.
"You don't have any plans to leave us to return to the White Fang?" Weiss asked looking into Blake's eyes.
Blake shook her head.
"What if you see Adam again?" Weiss asked taking a step forward with Ruby by her side. Ruby wrapped an arm around her back. Weiss appreciated the support even if Ruby didn't really know why she had to ask these questions.
Blake cleared her throat. Still wrapped up in Yang's arms she looked into Weiss's eyes. She knew that Weiss would be the person with the most problems about her past. "I… I wouldn't let him hurt any innocent people."
Weiss took another step forward "If it was us against the White Fang?"
Blake, still keeping eye contact felt some of her tension leave her. "I wouldn't help the White Fang do anything bad. If we had to stop them I would. The faunus won't benefit from harm caused by the White Fang." She said in a voice stronger than she thought.
Weiss saw Yang and Ruby smile at that. Weiss nodded and continued her questioning "You want to make up for what you did as part of the White Fang?"
Blake smiled at Weiss "I don't know exactly what I helped cause. But yes, the White Fang's actions, what I was part of. I want to help faunus… everyone a different way, a better way. I… yes I want to make up for what they did. Stop them from doing things like that again." Blake said as she turned around in Yang's arms.
Blake continued before Weiss could start talking "I think that in trying to do better we are in the same situation."
Weiss raise an eyebrow, but she couldn't say that that was wrong. Weiss now smiled lightly at Blake. "I think I still have questions and I'm still not overly happy that you were so close to Adam. But I don't hate you. I… I think that it will just take me some time to process. I may be… cold to you at times."
Yang chuckle "Weisscream, being cold. I thought that that was your normal mood."
Ruby groaned beside her as she and Blake shared a look.
Ruby then smiled at her and tugged her towards Blake. "I have some questions for you also Blake." Ruby said "But we will get through this as a team. I know we will." Ruby ended as they stopped in front of Blake and Yang.
Yang smiled "Yeah, Weiss, Blake, it's now your turn."
Weiss looked at Yang confused "Our turn for what?"
Yang let Blake go and pushed her right in front of Weiss. While at the same time Ruby pushed Weiss forward as well.
"To hug and show that you are okay. You two have a more… complicated history with the White Fang and what they did than me or Rubes. And Weiss you may not be fully okay with everything, you may never be, but like Rubes said. We will get through it." Yang said in her serious voice and rubbed Ruby's head. Much to Ruby's annoyance.
Weiss and Blake sighed at the same time. They looked at each other and Weiss could see the tension in Blake, she knew that Blake was expecting her to brush this off as just a game from Yang. Weiss shook her head. Yang was right that she wasn't 100% okay. But for now…
"This is just a one time thing, to get Yang off our backs. Don't read into it." Weiss said as she stepped into Blake and hugged her lightly. She heard Blake answer her "Of course Weiss." And hug her tighter than she expected.
A moment later Weiss felt Blake move her head down to her ear and softly say "Thank you Weiss for giving me a chance. I… I know that what I helped happen, I can never make up for it or take it back. But I'll do what I can to make sure it doesn't happen again." Weiss shook her head. Lightly nuzzling Blake's neck.
It wasn't fair that she was so short.
"You don't have to go so far. Just… just make sure that you…" Weiss said softly as well and trailed off, not really knowing that to say without sounding overly mean.
Blake nodded against her. And tightened their hug a bit. Weiss had to admit that Blake was comfortable to hug. She wasn't too tall and was soft and firm and warm. And slimmer than Yang with her currier build. Their quiet, soft hug was interrupted a moment later.
Yang and Ruby both joined the hug. Ruby on one side and Yang on the other. Ruby cuddled against bother her and Blake as Yang pulled them both into her. Weiss head came to rest against Yang's breasts. Blake rested her head against Yang's neck and shoulder like a minute ago.
But like all good things, it couldn't last. Yang probably decided that they were either being too touchy-feely or that they needed a distraction. "So, time we can rub your ears Blakey?" Yang asked pulling them even more into her.
Blake and Weiss sighed.
Ruby chuckled.
- Scene Break -
As team RWBY was going through the reveal of Blake's past. Team JNPR was having a less serious evening. Nora and Ren were on one of their 'date, but not date-date' nights. Nora commandeered a common room and they were watching one of Ren's strange 'relaxing' movies.
Jaune and Pyrrha were in their dorm room, Pyrrha feeling a bit off. Off enough for Jaune to notice and worry. Pyrrha's normally pleasant expression nowhere to see, replaced by a worried or tense look. It was… very concerning for Jaune.
"So… what's wrong Pyrrha?" Jaune asked sitting on the edge of his bed, watching Pyrrha not really writing anything at the desk.
Pyrrha sighed and stood up, she turned around and looked at the open face of Jaune. So cute. "Blake may be telling her team something important right now. She asked me early today if she should."
Jaune nodded "Something that happened last time?"
Pyrrha nodded back at Jaune.
"Something that didn't go well?" Jaune asked, standing up.
Pyrrha shook her head "No it did not. Caused some friction for team RWBY."
"Ah… but this time they are in a better place right? Closer as a team? Better friends?" Jaune asked taking a step towards Pyrrha.
"Yes, they are in a better place now. And if they find out now then it shouldn't cause any big issues… Weiss and Blake may be distant for a while." Pyrrha answered and muttered out the end.
Jaune smiled "Then there shouldn't be a problem."
Pyrrha smiled back at Jaune and hugged him, resting her head on his shoulder. "I know, but last time this as a turning point for them… and if it goes wrong, it can go very wrong." She sighed into Jaune's neck and nuzzled it.
Jaune returned Pyrrha's hug with one arm, his other went up so that he could run his hand through Pyrrha's soft and silky hair. "I know that you feel like it is your duty to make our future better. But you don't have to do it alone. We are here for you… I'm here for you."
Pyrrha let out a content sigh "I know. You really are the best Jaune." She said as she brought her arm up to run her hand through Jaune's soft and fluffy hair.
Jaune chuckled "I'm not."
Pyrrha nuzzled Jaune's neck even more, pulling herself more against Jaune until she was basically plastered against him. Her breasts were a bit uncomfortable squeezed so much, but Jaune was so warm and comfortable. She let her constant thoughts fade away, fully enjoying the hug, the closeness.
A blissful minute late Pyrrha pulled her head up from Jaune's shoulder and took half a step back. Still hugging him and still in his hug. But thankfully far away enough to dampen her urge to kiss him. "Aren't you curious what Blake is telling team RWBY?"
Jaune chuckled "Of course, but that is Blake's secret, if she wants to tell me she will."
Pyrrha smiled knowing that last time it was Ruby that told Jaune in a moment of excitement as she described her fight against Roman and the White Fang.
"Though speaking about secrets, there is one we need to talk about. I've been think of how to handle it, but I'm not sure." Pyrrha said as she led Jaune to the bed and pushed him down to sit. She sat down beside him and cuddled against his side.
"Sure, you know you can tell me anything. I won't tell anyone any of your secrets." Jaune said as he wrapped his arm around Pyrrha's shoulders, pulling her closer to him.
Pyrrha sighed. "You know how I told you about the White Fang, Cinder and the Maiden."
Jaune nodded "Yes."
"Well, in just over a month and a bit Cinder, her two minions and Roman's partner will come to Beacon posing as a Haven team. They are all already here in Vale working together and with the White Fang. And I've been thinking of a way to expose them as a fake team and interrupt her plans." Pyrrha said cuddling into Jaune's shoulder.
"And, what did you decide to do?" Jaune asked, eyes open.
"Who did you use to make your fake transcript? You never told me or anyone else last time." Pyrrha said curling an arm around Jaune's waist to hopefully comforting him a bit.
Jaune gasped and cleared his throat. "I… Well… I…" He stammered not really believing that Pyrrha would just come out and ask him directly.
Pyrrha lifted her head off Jaune's shoulder and with her other hand she gently grabbed Jaune's face and turned it to look at her. "Please Jaune, I need to know, if we can cause a problem with their documents then it may cause Ozpin, Goodwitch or General Ironwood to double check their information and that will reveal the lie."
Jaune sighed, seeing Pyrrha's honest eyes looking at him. "I used a transcript I found online on some forum and paid Junior to um… enter it into Beacon's system. But I have the feeling that I wouldn't be welcome back there."
Pyrrha nodded "He is an information broker, gang leader and owns that club in Vale, right?" Pyrrha asked going off what she knew from what Yang and Ruby told Jaune.
"Yes… how…" Jaune trailed off looking at Pyrrha.
"Yang had some dealings with him as well and Roman hired some of Junior's men to help in that robbery that Ruby got caught up in. They will tell you about in over the next few months." Pyrrha explained.
"Right…" Jaune said, blinking at Pyrrha.
Pyrrha smiled at Jaune "Do you think that he will agree to a request from me? We can bring Yang along as well. He is scared of her if you were to believe Yang."
Jaune nodded "I think he will, Pyrrha, the champion, asking for something. I don't think anyone would turn that down… but you have to be careful, you can't owe him any favors." Jaune said with a worried expression, putting both of his hands on Pyrrha's shoulders,
"I'll be fine, we'll be fine, I have more than enough money to make sure that I don't owe him any favors." Pyrrha said confidently. Patting one of Jaune's hands with her own while squeezing her arm even tighter around Jaune's waist.
"Good… so what will happen if they don't get exposed or if Junior can't do it?" Jaune asked settling Pyrrha back beside him.
"We would need to take a more… direct option. Interrupt the work that they are having the White Fang do. In a little bit a SDC ship will dock at Vale's port and after the dust shipment is unloaded, Roman and the White Fang will steal it." Pyrrha said going back to cuddling against Jaune's warm shoulder.
"So we prevent that from happening?" Jaune asked turning his head to look at Pyrrha.
Pyrrha hummed and had a slight burst of panic. She jumped up and turned around to face Jaune. Jaune looked up at her with a confused expression. Pyrrha stood in front of him, placed both her hands on his shoulders and pushed him back a little. Once the back of Jaune's knees hit the edge of the bed she sat down in Jaune's lap. Jaune continued to look confused.
"Last time, Ruby, Blake and two others that they meet, Sun and Penny, tired that and didn't succeed. Roman is a capable Huntsman, probably better than any of us. But they had no plan and came at the end of the theft." Pyrrha said looking at Jaune seriously.
"The White Fang also have a few capable fighters, but their biggest advantage is numbers. Jaune, if we do, do this then it could end up really bad. No matter how good we are a dozen White Fang shooting at each of us constantly will wear down our aura." Pyrrha continued, still in her serious tone.
"Then we make a few plans, let the everyone else know. Try and convince Goodwitch to have multiple teams versus one or two team training… we can even tell Goodwitch or Ozpin that we heard something about a robbery being done by Roman when we were in Vale." Jaune said wrapping his arms around Pyrrha and rubbing her back.
Pyrrha sighed. Do something and there is danger, do nothing and there is even more danger. And now that the flow of events was being changed team RWBY wouldn't be in the right place to act. Pyrrha looked into Jaune's calming eyes.
"Yes, we can train, but a real fight against people went they are really trying to hurt you, maybe even kill you is very different. It's… not something that can be trained for. Even if we go all out on each other, we know that we won't really hurt or kill each other…" Pyrrha said in a increasingly tense tone.
Pyrrha then felt Jaune pull her deeper into him. His arms wrapped tighter around her and he sighed into her hair. Pyrrha for her part wrapped her legs around Jaune, letting her be even closer to Jaune.
"You know that we will have to fight the White Fang, Roman and Cinder eventually. It sounds like the actual huntsmen, the teachers and the Atlas soldiers don't help much. So it may be up to us." Jaune calmly said rubbing Pyrrha's back.
Jaune continued "We have the upper hand because of you, even if they change strategies for now the ultimate target is still the same. They don't expect us hitting them, we can make it look like we stumbled into the theft and then tried to stop it like good students of Beacon. We will call the teachers and the police as we attack them."
Pyrrha felt a smile growing, Jaune's planning voice was so great, calm and gentle with an undercurrent of assuredness and confidence. Not something that Jaune expressed often. But Gods did that voice do things to her. Pyrrha felt herself get warm.
But more importantly, Jaune was planning. Taking her ideas and bringing his own. Combining them and reworking them in that brilliant mind of his. Pyrrha nodded against Jaune's shoulder.
"Yes, they wouldn't expect that." Pyrrha said "Though we will need to train even more. Roman and his little partner are dangerous. She is probably even more dangerous than Roman is if only because Roman doesn't kill if he doesn't have to. She has no issues killing anyone."
Jaune nodded against her head. "So we tell everyone and we train. We can also run our plan by everyone. See what they think."
"Yes, but to be honest, team RWBY doesn't plan well. None of their plans really work out well for them." Pyrrha sighed out.
Jaune chuckled.
"It's true, I planned my fight with Cinder better in the few moments I had than they did for most of their fights." Pyrrha continued shaking her head against Jaune's soft and fluffy hair.
"So nothing to do for now expect train, plan our attack against Roman and the White Fang and plan for when Cinder's team comes to Beacon." Jaune said, making a short list of their immediate goals.
Pyrrha nodded.
"Then we can tell Nora and Ren this weekend, they should have some ideas on how to attack and how to keep all the White Fang off balance. For now, we can relax. You should relax." Jaune said as he flopped down on the bed. Bring Pyrrha down with him.
Pyrrha who felt Jaune moving to lay down, unwrapped her legs and let Jaune pull her down. She ended up in one of her favorite positions. She was laying curled up on top of Jaune, her head on his upper chest.
Pyrrha nearly moaned when Jaune went back to rubbing her back, this time petting her up and down her spine. She moved up and down due to Jaune's breathing. It was all so comfortable, so warm, like Jaune always was.
And like always, every time over the past month, since she met him. Pyrrha fell a bit deeper in love. She could not understand why her past self… her pervious self, didn't get close to him with how much she loved him.
But now Pyrrha just hummed happily on top of Jaune, giving herself over to relaxing for a moment. A moment of warm calmness before they had to plan out an attack on a few dozen White Fang and a Huntsman level criminal.
Unfortunately or fortunately for Pyrrha they laid like that for over an hour, until Ren and Nora came back. This was because Pyrrha, being so comfortable fell asleep.
Jaune though, he stayed mostly awake, thinking up attack plans and other moves that they could take to stop Cinder's plans. He also kept petting Pyrrha. Helping her relax.
It was something that he both really admired and kind of didn't like about Pyrrha, she was one of the most determined and capable people he knew. Which caused her to take on far more than she should. Since she was sure that she could do it, which most of the time was true.
Or she thought that she would be helping and/or protecting people she cared for if she did it herself, if she didn't let others get hurt.
Jaune sighed and just comforted Pyrrha, thankfully she was accepting his help and their team's help far more easily now than a couple weeks ago, so there was progress.
Jaune smiled and closed his eyes, feeling the warmth of Pyrrha, her surprisingly light weight. Her soft skin and silky hair. Jaune fell into a light snooze which was only broken when Nora slammed their room's door shut when they came back.
Chapter Nine End
Hope everyone liked chapter 9.
We had to rewrite Blake's explanation so many times. We hope that we stayed even slightly in character for her. We always thought that early volume Blake would be someone how would just info dump on you if she really had to explain something. And was trying to take care of any follow up questions.
We also hope that the rest of team RWBY stayed vaguely in character as well with their thoughts and responses.
We also hope that people are liking the stories little slice of life sections. We do like them since they are all character moments that we can play with.
To answer a few questions:
1. Yes, we were still arguing about the fight between Pyrrha and team RWBY even as we posted the chapter.
2. No, we don't have any plans to speed the story up, we know that this story is not everyone's cup of tea so we appreciate those that are sticking with it.
3. We hope to update once every 4 weeks, we will really try. We also hope to have calmer months coming up.
4. The story was thought up as a Pyrrha and Jaune story, we had no plans for a harem or a poly relationship, but that is always an option.
5. Yes, the first 9 chapters were Part 1, we are starting Part 2 from the next chapter.
6. No, we don't have plans to have Yang and Blake get together, honestly, ms Socs is not a fan of how RoosterTeeth treated and is treating their "relationship". We guessed that they would get together since they are the most popular fan pairing, but yeah. No plans as of now. That may change.
7. Yes, Pyrrha is still not really in the best place mentally, a month is nowhere near enough time to recover from what was shoved into her head. She will still make some bad choices and do some not good things.
8. Yes, Jaune is slowly getting with the program, he was in a pretty big state of shock in regard to how Pyrrha started acting, but he is now getting used to it and he will start seeing more. Soon.
9. Yes, Pyrrha and Jaune will get together sooner rather than later. We aren't people who like the will they won't they, but they both like each other, but they don't know. But we have a little way to go yet.
10. Yes, we will change bits and pieces of the plot to suit our story, we already stated that this world is not the Prime timeline.
11. Yes, the red hair and green eyes will keep showing up in some chapters and may be more involved later on.
12. No, we won't be killing off any main character, maybe some villains.
13. Yes, Jaune's dad will make an appearance, so will Tai and Qrow. Also Willow and the Belladonnas. We are already planning Kali's scenes. What do you mean Beacon never had a parents day…
14. Yes, the Huntsman movie is still happening, it was supposed to happen in this chapter before it got away from us with Blake and team RWBY.
15. No, we don't have any plans for a romantic relationship for Weiss. At least not as of now. That may change like with everything.
16. Yes, the teachers are acting strange… what ever could that mean…
As a reminder this story is not taking place in the Prime timeline. We are in an AU so expect changes here and there.
