Defying existence

A/N: This is just a little angst-y depressing story that I wrote to get out some feelings. It doesn't have much of a plot but I hope you enjoy it anyways.
A/N: Thanks to Emily (emeraldeyes72) for (kindof) beta-ing and helping me with this

Tears of love; tears of joy; tears of depression; tears of faith; tears of hopelessness…

She had cried them all.

A deadly kiss haunted her lips from so long ago.

It had only been 13 months, but who was counting?

13 months, 13 years, what's the difference? Either way the end was near.

"I promise I'll come back for you"

But promises were nothing. What was someone's word against the painful fate of the unforgiving?

He smiled that smile that he knew she couldn't resist. "Don't worry, baby."

Why worry? Worrying would mean that she actually had hope that he would return.

And she had known ever since he left that he wouldn't come back.

Depression was for the ill-minded.

She had changed.

But then again, hadn't they all?

What did it matter, though? Everyone had become more depressed, less hopeful.

The world wore a frown and a face that simply said 'who cares?'

'Not I', answered it's people.

So it went. Day after day; night after night.

Fake smiles were the in thing, along with small talk that simply filled empty space; and living with meaning, as they all once did, was out.

And after all, who would dare to disagree with trends. All anyone ever wanted was to be all the rage. And by all the rage, she really meant all the same.

What was conformity besides fear to stand out?

And what was fear to stand out besides insecurity of one's self?

And yet it mattered not.

Because nothing mattered anymore.

And nothing ever would.

He was gone.

And he was all that she ever cared about.

"You know I love you, Gin."

"More than anything in the world." Ginny replied, tears streaming down her face. He stole one last look at her, regret, love and pain swarming his eyes. He took her face in his hands and gave her a soft and meaningful kiss.

"Goodbye, baby." He whispered, as he turned away and began his journey, not looking back. He knew that if he stayed with her for just a moment longer, he would lose his backbone, and stay with her instead of doing what he was born to do.

"Until death do we part." Ginny replied, holding her wedding ring close to her heart as tears continued to flow down her face freely. She put the ring back on her finger, and accepted the fact that she may never see the man who gave it to her again.

And so began the beginning of the end; and the end of the beginning.
