Irresistible
'I hate it when he does this. Every day. I can't look away from him; hell, I can't even blink. No matter what, I can't stop staring, watching his every move.'
'She's
doing it again. It's been ten minutes. My eyes are starting to dry
out, but I can't stop watching her. I'm compelled to keep staring,
not even blinking, and not ever looking away. I don't have any choice
in the matter; it's just instinct.'
'My eyes are starting to hurt. I can feel the air from the room stinging them, but I push the pain to the back of my mind. Like I said: no matter what.'
'I have to blink, but I can't. If I blink...'
'I can't
take it anymore. He's driving me nuts! This whole thing is. I just
need to close my eyes. No! I can't do that. I just can't.'
'Going on
twenty minutes now. I can't even feel my eyes anymore, let alone
complain about them hurting. I wonder how she's holding up. Her brown
eyes are staring directly into mine. I wonder what kind of eye shadow
that is. Hmm.'
'Going on
twenty minutes. Doesn't he ever get tired of tormenting me like this?
My eyes are going...numb. That's the word. Numb. Can eyes really go
numb?'
'Ever wonder how we do that time thing? It's a body clock. It's something you can only possess if all you ever worry about is how much longer until it's lunch time. Of course, for B'Elanna, it's probably 'how much longer until my next shift?' She spends way too much time with those engines of hers.'
'That
body clock thing is weird. I think it comes from my constantly
wondering how much longer until my next shift begins. For Tom it's
probably how much longer until lunch starts. Typical male: always
worries about his stomach.'
'God,
my eyes are killing me. I need to blink. I have no choice in the
matter. I absolutely must blink. I can't do it any longer.'
'My eyes
are bothering me. I think I should- oh, my God. What was that? Did he
just blink? Yes! He just did it again! Ha! I won again!'
"Ha! You blinked! I've won for the four hundredth time!" B'Elanna cried triumphantly.
"I'm never having another staring contest with you again! You don't play fair!"
"Yeah. That's what you said last time and look at where it got us."
Tom set his eyes into an angry look and turned his chair so that his back was facing her as he fell into his pouting routine.
