"Are you kidding!?" Maeve asks gleefully.

Alex and Nia look at each other, smiling at her giddy enthusiasm. Nia looks at her sister and says, "I'm getting more confident everyday interpreting my dreams on my own, but I would feel even more so with you there."

Maeve smiles broadly and gives them an affirmative nod. "How do we get there?" she asks curiously. "Does the DEO have a helicopter or plane we can use to get there? How long will it take?" The rest of the group glance around at each other smiling as Maeve looks confused and shyly asks, "What?"

Nia walks over, puts her arm around her sister's shoulders, and looks at her with a sly grin. "The DEO does have transportation we could use, but… we're not just the DEO… we're the Super Friends." She turns her head, looks at Alex, and says, "Sentinel."

Alex grins playfully, turns a dial on her wrist device, and a bright purple energy field appears near the kitchen island. She looks around the living room and announces, "Time to go!" Nia walks her sister over to the portal as Kelly and Dana step through. As they disappear Maeve eyes the pulsating energy field with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. Nia, noticing the look on her sister's face, takes her hand and gives it a gentle squeeze. As they lock eyes, the tension in Maeve's face gradually fades, and Nia leads her through the portal.

Stepping out on the other side and into the main entry chamber of the Fortress, Maeve's eyes reflect the overwhelming sensation of awe and astonishment flooding her mind as she marvels at the grandeur of the sight that lay before her…. the cavernous palace's ice and crystalline foyer with its various sized white pillars strewn throughout the room and enormous transparent sculptures of a man and woman holding a world aloft at the far end of the chamber. "This… I… it's breathtaking," she mutters stutteringly. "Is this what Krypton looked like?"

"The Kandor I saw in my dream didn't look like this," Nia casually comments.

"No, I expect it didn't," a familiar deep, soothing male voice fills the space around them. Alex, Dana, Kelly, Maeve, and Nia all turn towards the source of the voice and see a smiling J'onn, Esme resting on his hip, and M'gann heading their direction. J'onn continues, "Kandor, much like like Argo, was a vast metropolis with a sprawling, majestic grand city center surrounded by a lush rural community. The Fortress was designed by Kal's parents, Jor-El and Lara, to be a representation of their Kryptonian heritage paying homage to the city they lived in, Kryptonopolis, which was, in Earth parlances, more 'new age' than older cities like Argo and Kandor. Kandor was one of the planet's oldest, most revered cities and was Krypton's capital before Brainaic shrank and stole it."

"Grandpa J'onn, I didn't know you were so knowledgeable about Krypton," Alex says playfully with a hint of surprise in her voice.

"Alex," J'onn retorts jovially as he walks over and hands his granddaughter to her, "I'm over 300 years old. Believe it or not, I actually visited Krypton a few times before its destruction and had an opportunity to see all three of those cities in person."

"How is that after all these years I never knew?" Alex questions in shock as she takes Esme from him, hugs her, kisses her, and sets her down. Esme runs over to hug and kiss Kelly as Alex asks, "Does Kara know?"

"I don't believe so," he replies. "It has never come up in conversation and neither of you ever asked. Kal and I have discussed it before. He's asked me about Kryptonopolis many times over the years."

Alex steps toward him, wraps him in a tight embrace, smiles warmly, and chuckles as she says, "Guess you really can learn something new everyday."

As J'onn and Alex release their embrace, M'gann walks over, gives Alex a hug, and with a broad smile notes, "It's a shame we had to cut short granddaughter/grandparent bonding time? We were having so much fun at the carnival."

While Esme hugs her Aunt Nia, Dana, and Maeve, Kelly walks over to Alex, J'onn, and M'gann. J'onn steps toward her and embraces her as she says, "We're sorry to cut your fun short, but Nia slipped into the dream realm back at the loft and found herself dreaming about Kandor." They release their embrace, Kelly turns to hug M'gann, and continues, "She saw some things that we think might be tied to what Alura and Zor-El are worried about, but we need Kelex's help to translate them and wanted everyone here in case we need to reach out to Argo."

With a look of measured concern on his face, J'onn declares, "If it could have some bearing on their misgivings about the restoration project we should find Kelex and see what he can tell us."

The group gathers together as Alex and J'onn lead them through the enormous foyer, underneath the giant sculptures, and towards the Fortress' primary command center. As they pass through an entry way at the far end of the chamber they arrived in and turn a corner they spot the silver caretaker android they were seeking floating toward them from the far end of a broad white ice tunnel. Kelex quickly covers the gap between itself and the group and comes to a stop just in front of Alex and J'onn. "Hello J'onn Jones, Alex Danvers," Kelex greets them, "welcome back. How may I be of service to you and your family?"

"Kelex," Alex begins, "we are hoping you can translate some Kryptonian symbols for us. Nia dreamed herself inside of Kandor's stasis jar and came across what we believe are some Kryptonese phrases and a house crest we are unfamiliar with. Would you be able to assist us?"

"If you have a way of providing images of what Nia Nal witnessed during her dream walk I am certain I can be of assistance," Kelex replies.

"Excellent, Kelex," Alex states. She turns, looks over at Nia, and says with an encouraging grin, "Do your thing, Dreamer."

Nia, who was walking hand-in-hand with Esme, looks down at her niece, smiles, and says, "Go get your Mommy, sweetie." Esme smiles back at her, nods, releases Nia's hand, and walks over to Kelly. Nia steps back a bit as the rest of the group walk over to stand by Kelex, Alex, and J'onn. Once she has a bit of separation she closes her eyes and begins to move her hands, releasing dream energy which transforms into the shapes of the symbol and phrases she saw in the dream.

Kelex floats over, getting closer to the neon blue energy ribbons forming the images and symbols to analyze them. After a few moments he turns and makes his way back over to J'onn and Alex. "The single word on the upper arm of the door latch rougly translates to 'death'," he informs them.

"That certainly seems ominous," Dana chimes in with an air of trepidation in her voice.

"Yes, Dana Dearden," Kelex replies, "it is worrisome… as is the phrase on the bottom arm."

"What does it say, Kelex?" Kelly asks inquisitively.

"Its literal translation is 'no hope', Kelly Danvers," Kelex informs her.

"Yeah, that's certainly not much better," M'gann chimes in sardonically.

"Kelex?" Nia asks. "What about the house emblem on the flag? Whose crest is that?"

Kelex floats back over to the glimmering image of the pristine flag hanging in the air and says, "That, Nia Nal, is the family crest of the house of Dru-Zod, former General of Krypton's defense force prior to his banishment to The Phantom Zone and demise at the hands of Kal-El."

Alex looks gravely at J'onn and says, "That's definitely not good." With a grim look in his eyes J'onn nods in agreement. Alex turns back to Kelex and asks, "Kelex, how long would it take you to establish stable communications with Argo?"

"Approximately 12 minutes," Kelex responds. "Would you like for me establish a link with the House of El, Alex Danvers?"

Alex nods appreciatively, "Yes, Kelex, please and thank you." Kelex turns and promptly floats away toward the Fortress' command center to begin working. Alex, J'onn, and the rest of the group huddle together in the broad icy corridor.

"Nia, Maveve?" Kelly queries curiously. "What else can you tell us about the symbolism of the dream? Sounds like there was a lot more going on in there than just those words and Zod's house crest."

Nia nods affirmatively. "The whole scene in the city was very disconcerting. We know that Brainiac did not just swoop in and shrink the city without a struggle. Thanks to Jor-El and his friend, Zor-El was able to warn Kandor that something might be coming. There was at least a brief battle with Krypton's defense force before Brainiac shrank the city, but the place I saw was calm, peaceful… not at all a city in the midst of chaos."

M'gann suggests, "What if we frame this from the perspective that Alura's and Zor-El's concerns are wholly justified… that there potentially is a sinister hand at play here trying to manipulate the outcome of Kandor's restoration?"

"That definitely could help us interpret what she saw," Maeve agrees. "Let's start with the state of the people. Aside from the figure you saw towards the end of your dream you said everyone else was frozen in place, right?"

"Yes," Nia confirms. "No one and nothing else was animated. It all seemed very calm, but there was something in the absolute stillness that… I can't quite put into words… a feeling deep down."

"That type of maddening stillness, quiet," Maeve explains, "could be representative of an imminent conflict or struggle brewing on the horizon."

"So, Nia was witnessing the calm before the storm," J'onn adds.

Nia chimes in. "If my dream was triggered by what is happening in Argo right now and is a manifestation of Alura's and Zor-El's concerns then that would make sense." Nia closes her eyes for a moment to focus her concentration on the images of the dream in her mind's eye. Trying to reconstruct the visual cues that could have some hidden meaning she's suddenly struck by the realization that not only were the crests for the Houses of El and Zod on flags, but there were a substantial number of flags with various Kryptonese lettering strewn throughout Kandor's central city. "Flags!" she exclaims.

"The flags with the house crests?" Dana volleys back inquisitively.

Nia slowly shakes her head. "Not just those… there was an abundance of flags throughout Kandor's central city with Kryptonese writing on them. A symbol on one of them that resembled the shape and style of Kara's crest was how I began to realize where I was."

"Aside from the symbols," Maeve inquires, "was there anything specific about the flags that stood out? Coloring, positioning, spacing… the manner in which they were hung?"

"They were all red," Nia notes. "They also all appeared to be hanging halfway between the top and bottom of the posts or polls they were attached to… like they were flying at half mast." She pauses for a moment, taps her chin with her finger, draws a deep breath, looks at Maeve, and utters, "Red flags could be a warning."

Maeve nods in agreement as Alex asks, "What kind of warning?"

"To stop," Nia replies. "To stop the project… to stop the person or people that may be trying to manipulate the direction or outcome of the project… or both."

"Since the flags were also hanging effectively at half mast my money would be on stopping whomever may be trying to influence the project," Maeve notes.

Nia nods in agreement. "Flags hanging at half mast usually mean someone or something is unwilling or unable to let go of the past."

"So," J'onn inquires, "if someone from Kandor's past is planning something related to the restoration these flags could be a warning that we need to figure out who they are and stop them?"

"Absolutely," Maeve affirms. "That is a highly plausible explanation for what my sister saw."

"Was there anything else in the dream we should be concerned about?" Alex wonders aloud with concern etched into her face.

"The door and the bright lights," Nia mentions forbiddingly. "The door with the writing was the only door I encountered that was locked… and it wasn't just locked… it was secured like a vault. Also, each time I was pulled from one location to another there was a blinding white light."

"There was also a blindly light concealing the identity of the woman in the dark room," Dana helpfully reminds her.

"True, there was," Nia acknowledges with a nod and an appreciative glance at her.

With a sense of dread in her voice, Alex asks, "What do those things potentially signify?"

Maeve replies cautiously, "The light symbolizes that there is something unknown just beyond our grasp and we need to piece it together quickly because that door… not just locked, but impregnable… could symbolize that there is something incredibly dangerous at the end of whatever game our potential mystery foe is playing."

Silence descends upon the group as they each ruminate on the conceivable complications and dangers that could lie ahead for their family on Argo. They all turn and follow Alex and J'onn down the corridor towards the Fortress' command center. Just as they make their way through the command center's entryway they hear Kelex speaking to someone they all recognize.

"Kleenex," the voice says dispassionately.

"My name is Kelex, Querl," the android responds floating in front of a bright holographic image of Brainy hovering over the central command console. "Are either Alura or Zor-El available?"

"They are helping Lena bring Kara in from the Legion ship," Brainy says with an air of annoyance. "What do you need?"

Alex rushes in past a large transparent ice panel, stops next to Kelex, and anxiously exclaims, "What happened to my sister, Brainy?!?"

Brainy's expression transforms as Alex appears in front of him. The look of disgust on his face melts away to one of reassurance. "She's okay, Alex. We had a minor complication at the tail end of our mission to clear the debris around the asteriod."

"What happened, Brainy?" Alex utters insistently.

To try and set Alex's mind at ease, Brainy proceeds to explain to Alex and the rest of the group what transpired with the Kryptonite laced rock and the large moon. Noticing that Alex's stress level seems to be increasing as Brainy continues, Kelly steps up next to her, takes her hand, and gives it a reassuring squeeze. Alex closes her eyes and takes a deep breath as Kelly interrupts Brainy, "Is she okay, Brainy?"

Before he can respond another figure appears next to him. "Alex," Lena says compassionately, "she's fine. I promise. She was a bit rattled by the experience, but none the worse for wear. She rested under a yellow sun lamp the entire way back to Argo. The KPS worked exactly the way we designed it to, but an EMP knocked out its power. She was out cold for a bit, but the secondary life support system protected her until I got to her and brought her back on board."

Alex shakily exhales, opens her eyes, and says, "Thank you, sis." Lena smiles affectionately at her and gives her a single caring, acknowledging nod.

Noticing all the faces staring back at them from the Fortress, Lena's expression morphs into one of concern as she asks, "Is everything okay? What are you all doing at the Fortress?"

Nia steps up next to Alex and Kelly, looks at Lena and her husband, and replies, "We came to see Kelex because I inadvertently slipped into the dream realm and found myself inside Kandor's stasis jar. I saw an unfamiliar house crest and some Kryptonese words we were curious about. Since both our resident Kryptonese experts are off-world we decided to ask Kelex for help."

Just as Nia finishes speaking they notice Lena turn her head, hearing her say, "Love, you should be resting", and then see Kara, Alura, and Zor-El appear.

"I will, :zhao i," Kara lovingly assures her as they quickly embrace. "I wanted to come down so Alex could at least see I'm alright." Alex and Kara smile at each other and then she turns her gaze curiously at Nia. "Did we hear you right as we walked in, Nia? You dreamed you were inside Kandor's jar?"

Nia nods affirmatively and begins to share with them the details of her dream walk in Kandor… the appearance of Zod's house crest, the ominous phrases on the secured, seemingly unyeilding door, and the group's discussion regarding the potential meaning behind the various elements of her experience.

"I've not had any experience with Naltorian dream energy or precognitive abilities," Alura remarks. "How precise do these premonitions tend to be?"

"Nia's abilities are remarkably well atuned," Brainy responds. "Also, her sister, Maeve, has been helping her to master her abilities and expand her interpretive knowledge. I would say that the odds are 98% that their interpretation of symbolism of what Nia saw in her dream is accurate."

"Ukr, Ieiu," Kara addresses her parents. "Brainy is right. Nia's powers are incredibly reliable and Maeve has spent a lifetime becoming one of Earth's foremost experts on dream interpretation. Given what they've just told us I think we have to be incredibly cautious with our next steps."

"Agreed, Inah," Zor-El concurs. "I believe Nia's dream is about as definitive a confirmation as we could expect to get at this stage. It still not enough, though, to convince the council to re-examine the project, but it is certainly reliable enough for us to be even more diligent in scrutinizing every step of this process." Zor-El looks at Brainy, his daughters, and his wife who all nod in agreement. Smiling resolutely he looks back at the faces in the Fortress and says, "Thank you… all of you. Nia, Maeve… if you think of anything else from dream that might be important, please let us know… and Nia… if you have anymore dreams related to what's going on, please…".

"We'll be back to let you know," Nia remarks reassuringly. "We promise."

Zor-El and Alura nod and step away from Brainy, Kara, and Lena. As Brainy reaches out to end transmission from their end Alex says, "Kara?"

Kara smiles at her sister and replies, "We'll be careful, sis. I promise." She mouths "I love you" to her and steps away.

"Lena?" Alex says. "Please be careful, take care of yourself, and take care of her."

Lena looks lovingly at Alex and says, "Always, sis. I promise."
