The light of a new morning begins to break over the horizon of Argo City. As the brightness of the dawn slowly creeps up the skyline, the listlessness of the passing night gives way to the early morning stirring of the populous arising from their slumber to venture out and greet the hopeful prosperity of another potentially fruitful and rewarding day. Past the towering spires of the central city's skyscrapers, beyond the treeline leading to the artisan square and pond, in the outlying rustic village the day's new light begins to shine brightly enough to dimly light the interior of Kara's and Lena's bedroom through their darkly polarized window wall.

Lena, dressed in a deep purple satin camisole pajama top and matching shorts, lays on the left side of the bed facing the window, still asleep. As a glimmer of light starts to shine upon her face she rolls over to her right, strerches her arm out searching for the familiar warmth of her fiancée, but finds her side of the bed empty. Curiously wondering where Kara has gone she rolls onto her back, begins to lift herself into a sitting position, and slowly opens her eyes. Giving herself a moment to yawn, stretch, and allow her eyes to focus she turns her head to look around the room and sees the profile of her love standing at the window wall. Still wearing her favorite blue and floral button up pajama top and matching shorts, she is standing with her arms folded, smiling warmly, and staring blindly off into the distance. Lena slides over to the bed's edge, drops her feet to the floor, stands up, and walks over behind Kara. Putting her arms around her waist, she kisses the back of Kara's neck, presses herself firmly against her back with her own head laid sideways looking in towards their room, and says groggily, "It's early, darling. What are you doing over here when we could still be cuddling on the bed?"

Kara closes her eyes, draws in a slow, deep breath, releases it with an affectionate hum, unfolds her arms, wraps them around Lena's at her midsection, and replies, "I wanted to get up for a little bit and just watch this new day dawn. After what happened yesterday and our talk last night I feel like something important has changed inside of me. I wanted to stand in the glow of Rao's first light this morning and feel its warmth to remind myself it wasn't all some kind of fantastical dream."

Lena tugs lighltly at Kara's waist encouraging her to turn around. Kara lets her arms fall to her sides, and Lena releases her hold on her beloved. Kara, still smiling, opens her eyes and turns to face Lena who reaches up and strokes her cheeks with her hands. "I promise you," Lena begins with a radiantly beaming smile and a gleam in her eyes, "it is all real." She removes her hands from her fiancee's cheeks, grabs her right hand, and presses it to her heart. "This morning we will tell Alura and Zor-El that as soon as this situation with Kandor is resolved we intend to bring our entire family here to Argo so that we can stand before them all and begin our life's journey together united as one in the glow of Rao's light. There is nothing in this universe I want more than to be your zrhemin."

Kara reaches out with her left hand to wipe a single stray tear from Lena's left cheek. She pulls her other hand away from Lena's heart, puts both her arms around her future wife's shoulders, and pulls her into a tight, warm embrace. Lena wraps her arms around Kara's torso, melting into the intimate warmth of the woman she loves so passionately. As they stand contently in each other's arms, slowly swaying back-and-forth in the light of the breaking dawn, Kara mutters, "I'm curious about something."

"What's that, darling?" Lena responds.

"Last night you said you didn't care what the world expects of us or throws at us… you don't want anything to stand in the way of us building our life together… starting our family," Kara states.

"I did," Lena retorts with a playful grin.

A deep tingling sense of excitement and unbridaled curiosity swells within Kara and a dazzlingly infectious smile fills her face. "Does that mean you want to start having children right away?"

Lena releases Kara and steps back to look into the breathtaking beauty of her shimmering blue eyes. The grin on Lena's face blossoms into an encouraging smile, her eyes shine with optimism, and she nods her head in an adorable bobbing motion. "I don't imagine we'll be doing it the 'old fashioned' way like Clark and Lois, but yes, darling… I want our family to grow as soon as possible. If watching Alex and Kelly with Esme and the bonds between our loved ones has taught me anything… it's that blood doesn't make family… love does. You and I… this love we share… I so want the opportunity to provide the type fulfilling life our mothers were denied the chance to fully give us… nurture and care for a life that richly deserves to bask in the hope and tender warmth of the love we have, and as much as I would love for us to have a child that was the result of us procreating… adoption…".

Kara puts her hands on Lena's shoulders, gives her a quirky grin, and interjects, "Yes, I would love to adopt an amazing child like Esme, too… and we absolutely should, but their might be a way for us to have children of own." Noticing the stunned, puzzled look on Lena's face, Kara walks her back over to the bed, and they both sit down as she attempts to explain. "Before Lara gave birth to Clark… there had not been a natural child birth on Krypton in a nearly a millennia."

"What!?" Lena exclaims. "Are you telling me that Alura and Zor-El are not actually your biological parents?"

Kara takes her hands, grips them tightly, and shakes her head. "No, sweetheart… they are my biological parents, but Alura did not give birth to me."

":Zhao i, I'm confused," Lena wearily admits. "If they are your biological parents, but Alura didn't give birth to you… how? Are their surrogates? Were all children delivered via some type of C-section procedure?"

"No, not surrogates or C-sections," Kara assures her with an uneasy glance. "Due to Krypton's limited natural resources and its unwillingness to explore the stars our ancestors decided that the best way to ensure our peoples' survival was to genetically engineer each member of our society to fulfill predetermined roles… workers, warriors, artisans, leaders, etc. It was their way of trying to ensure that our world never lacked for the societal cooperative it would need to flurish."

Lena's eyes widen in surprise. "You were genetically engineered?"

"Yes… and brought to term in a birthing pod" Kara admits uncomfortably. "If that in any way changes…"

Lena pulls Kara into a reassuring embrace. "Absolutely not. I'm sorry if for even a moment I made you think that it would. I'm just flabbergasted that a society as advanced as Krypton's would…"

As Lena lets her go Kara sits back up and nods in agreement. "I know. My family was never a big proponent of continuing that legacy… and Clark was the result of that. Both my parents and his believed that Krypton lost something inherently precious because of its reliance on genetic manipulation… the element of choice… of chance. They believed that regardless of what our society intended for us we should never stop learning, growing, evolving, striving, and aspiring to be something more."

"I'm still not sure I understand where you're going with this line of thought," Lena notes bewildered.

Kara takes a deep breath, exhales, and continues, "Argo no longer practices that type of genetic engineering, but I've asked my Mom and she's confirmed that the doctors here still have the capability to create viable embryos from two distinct sets of DNA. They can do so without any genetic manipulation and implant them into an accepting host's uterus. Biologically our reproductive systems are nearly identical…".

An acknowledging smile grows on Lena's face as the reality of what Kara is explaining sinks in. She takes Kara's hands and squeezes them tightly. "So, what you're telling me is… they could harvest eggs from each of us, use this technology to combine them, create viably fertilized embryos to implant in one or both of us, and we could have biological children of our own?"

A wide, toothy, brilliant smile fills Kara's face as she nods enthusiastically. "Yes, :zhao i! Now, keep in mind that because we can both only contribute 'X' chromosomes to this process there is, as Brainy would point out, a 100% chance that we're going to be the proud parents of a daughter or two."

Giving her fiancée a mischievous grin Lena points out, "You know, for someone that's going to be receiving an award recognizing their outstanding achievements as a member of the LGBTQ community… you're assuming an awful lot here. Any one of our children could be gender fluid, transgender, agender, androgynous, non-binary, or any other gender identity that aligns with who they are. We have to be open, accepting, and loving to whomever and whatever our children are and aspire to be."

With a genuinely sweet, thoughtful smile Kara nods in agreement. "You are absolutely right. Our children will be accepted and loved completely by us for all that they are."

As they start to crawl back onto the bed to lay down together again there is a beep from the room's command console over by the entryway. Kara rolls off her side of the bed, stands up, makes her way over to the console, and presses a blue commlink button.

A familiar voice inquires, "Kara?"

"Good morning, Mom," Kara replies affectionately.

"I thought I heard you and Lena talking as I walked by your room. How are you feeling this morning?" Alura asks.

Kara looks back over at the bed where the love of her life is laying on her side, looking over at her with a sultry "come hither" glance. Kara smiles back flirtatiously, turns back to the console, and responds, "We're good, Ieiu."

"Wonderful, honey," Alura remarks. "Your Father and Brainy are already on the Legion ship working on the re-enlargement device. We are planning to have our morning meal when they get finished. Brainy estimates about 90 more Earth minutes."

"Thanks, Mom," Kara responds. "Lena and I will be down in a little while." She turns off the blue commlink button, walks back over to the bed, lays down facing Lena, they wrap themselves around each other, and pull a blanket over themselves as they begin to kiss passionately.

Back on Earth, another busy work day at CatCo is slowly plodding towards its conclusion. As dusk starts to overtake the skyline of National City creating a lazy purple hue across the horizon, Nia finds herself settled behind Kara's desk deeply entrenched in the grinding, but rewarding process of guiding the current week's publication closer to completion. She stares intently at the response she's crafting to an important e-mail on the screen of her laptop while scattered around the desk in neatly organized piles are story drafts, photo layouts, and other critical components of the magazine that she and Nathalie have been reviewing together throughout the course the day. Just as she reaches the end of typing her response to the e-mail a buzzing noise rings out from the desk phone. She clicks send on her response and then reaches over to press a red flashing button. "Hey, Jess! What's up?"

Jess replies warmly, "Sorry to interrupt, Nia. Your sister is here to see you and I wanted to remind you that you have your end-of-day check in with Ms. Grant in 15 minutes."

A broad smile fills Nia's face at the mention of Maeve. "Please let Maeve know she can come in and thanks for the reminder about Cat."

"My pleasure, Nia," Jess remarks.

Nia stands up from her chair, steps out from behind the desk, and walks toward the office door as Maeve opens it to walk in. The two women meet in the open space just before the sofas and coffee table, giving each other a warm, loving hug.

"Maeve!" Nia exclaims pleasantly surprised to see her sister. As they separate from their hug they walk over and sit down next to each other on the sofa closest to the wall leading out to the balcony. Nia turns, lifts her right leg up to lay it folded on the sofa cushion with her left leg hanging over it at the ankle, and looking at her sister puts her right arm across the top of the sofa's backing. "I wasn't expecting to see you until I got back to the loft. Is everything alright?"

Maeve places her purse on the cushion next to her, turns slightly with both her legs tilted against the base of the sofa, places her hands in her lap, looks at Nia with a bright smile, and nods. "My afternoon department meeting finished early so I decided to drop by to check in on my little sister. Yesterday was kind of a crazy day. I wanted to make sure you're doing okay."

Nia smiles back at her affectionately with an appreciative sparkle in her eyes. "Thank you, sis. That's so sweet." She closes her eyes for a moment, thinking back on all that happened the day before. She re-opens her eyes, sighs a bit, and remarks, "It was kind of a crazy day. I knew it would be. I figured this place would be a little intense… and you never know what excitement an impromptu Alex Danvers ladies night can lead to, but I couldn't have imagined we'd end up going to the Fortress. Speaking of which… your head must still be spinning a bit from your first real 'Super Friends' experience. Admittedly it was fairly low key for us, comparatively speaking, but you got wisked half way across the world in the blink of an eye for the first time, got to see a piece of Kal's and Kara's home world up close, saw your first caretaker android, met Alura and Zor-El… that's a lot to process."

"It was a bit overwhelming at first," Maeve admits. "This amazing life you lead… I can't even begin to put it into words. Sharing just a small piece of it for brief moment was astounding. Being part of helping you and your team work through the dream. I never could have imagined…".

Nia reaches over and gently places her hand on Maeve's hands still perched in her lap. "This team is my family… and you are, too. I want you to be as much a part of all that my life entails as you feel comfortable with. Doing that together last night was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Having these powers is a gift, but they're even more so when we can combine them with your knowledge to make them an even greater force for good. I've learned so much from you these last several months and I hope that last night was just the first of many chances we get to team up."

A beaming, enthusiastic smile fills Maeve's face and a few tears leak from her eyes. She reaches up to wipe them away with the back of her hand and replies, "Me, too. I would really like to share in more of those experiences with you." Taking a deep breath she recomposes herself a bit and comments, "Jess mentioned you have a quick meeting with Cat Grant in a few minutes. I should probably head back to the loft…".

Nia stands up, offers her hand to her sister, and shakes her head. "Nope, your coming up to see Ms. Grant with me."

Maeve grabs her purse, takes her sister's hand, and allows her to effortlessly help her up from the sofa. "Are you sure about that? I hear that woman's a terror."

Nia chuckles. "She is one-of-a-kind and has been known to make grown men sob. It's okay, though, she's a part of this family, too, and is worried about Kara. She's going to want an update about what's happening on Argo, so we are going to give her one… together."

Now cleaned up and fully dressed following a little early morning romantic playtime, Kara and Lena make their way down the stairs, cross the living room, and step into the dinning area. Brainy and Zor-El are seated at the table engrossed in conversation as Alura and a Kelex caretaker enter with food. While setting serving dishes down on the table Alura catches a glimpse of the girls as they enter to room. "Good morning you two. You're just in time for food." She gestures towards the food as the Kelex sets down the last dish and floats out of sight. As Alura sits down next to her husband the girls walk over to give each of them a kiss on top of their heads and then take their seats next to each other at the far end of the table.

As Lena scoops a measured amount of a couple of the dishes onto her plate she looks over at Brainy and Zor-El. "How is the re-enlargement device coming along?"

Brainy looks over at her and replies in his typical casually confident Coluan tone, "Construction of the device is complete and the ship's control matrix has been updated to operate it remotely. We were able to power it up successfully, but we don't have any way of performing a 'real world' test of it before we use it on Kandor."

Lena looks at him with a piercingly inquisitive stare. "What's your plan to determine if the device is fully functional?"

Brainy flashes her a triumphant smile and replies, "I'm planning on utilizing the AI construct you and Eve installed on the ship's mainframe to run a battery of simulations. That should provide us a sufficient level of confidence in the device's ability to produce the results we're looking for."

An approving smile blossoms on Lena's face and she winks at him. "That's exactly what I was I going to suggest."

He smiles back, winks at her knowingly, and slyly replies, "I know."

After she swallows a small bite of food Lena inquires, "Is there anything I can help with?"

"Actually," Zor-El interjects, "I could use your assistance down in my lab today with the shield generator and atmospheric regulator. I wanted to review the original designs for each component with you since you and I will each be supervising installation of them once we get inside of Kandor."

Lena nods in agreement. "Sounds good. I might even have a couple of ideas on how to modify the designs to recycle the waste output to create perpetually regenerating Harun-El. If we're lucky we might be able to make them permanently self-sustaining for both Argo and Kandor."

Zor-El's eyes light up with excitement at Lena's comment. "That would be incredible, Inha!"

A glowing smile lights up Kara's face as she sees the look of appreciative joy fill Lena's eyes as a result of Zor-El's reply. She reaches over, links pinkies with her fiancée, and gently tugs.

Next to Zor-El, Alura wipes her mouth with a cloth, sets down her eating utensil, and looks over at the girls. "Kara?"

"Yes, Mom," she answers.

"While Brainy finshes up with the re-enlargement device and your Father and Lena are down in the lab there is something I need your help with."

Swallowing a sip of liquid from the cup in front of her, Kara sets her cup back down, wipes her mouth with a cloth, looks at Alura with a sunny, helpful grin, and replies, "Love to. What can I do?"

Alura looks over at her with a weighty expression on her face. "I need you to accompany me to Kandor."

Kara and Lena glance at each other with a measure of surprise and concern on their faces. "How?" Kara inquires. "We weren't aware they had been reanimated yet or that a way had been found to enter the stasis jar."

"The reanimation process was completed just after we spoke to you at the Fortress," Zor-El informs them. "As you can imagine the last several days have been very chaotic for them. Thankfully your uncle had a fully operational portal device, linked to the one at the science academy here, in his lab at the Science Guild tower in Kandor. Thank Rao it wasn't damaged in Braniac's attack. We were able to bring it back on line and send through support personnel and supplies."

"Why are we going?" Kara inquires.

With a reassuring smile Alura replies, "Because of the misgivings your Father and I have expressed related to this project the High Council has requested that I meet with Kandor's Governor, Nis Ke-Ro, to try and alleviate our concerns. Given the uncertain nature of what I'll come across there we felt it would be safer if you accompany me."

"Yellow sun emitter at the ready?" Kara postulates.

"Among other things, yes," Alura acknowledges. "You have more experience dealing with these types of situations than we do. I figure you may pick up on something that just doesn't resonate with me."

Brainy and Lena look at each other and chime in simultaneously, "She's got a point!"

Kara smiles at her parents and gives them an understanding nod. "When do we leave?"

"Tor-Ze is expecting you two at science academy later this morning," Zor-El declares.

As the girls, Alura, and Zor-El continue eating their meals, Brainy stands up and politely excuses himself to return to the Legion ship. He exits the house out the glass patio door and begins his stroll back across the yard towards the ship. Lena looks up and, seeing that he's sufficiently out of ear shot, puts her hand on Kara's knee under the table to get her attention. When Kara looks over at her Lena whispers, "We should tell them now."

Zor-El looks up, sees the girls whispering to each other, and curiously inquires, "Inahs? Is there something else?"

The girls both look over at the loving faces staring warmly at them from the other end of the table. They turn to face each other, look radiantly into each other's eyes, push out their chairs, stand up, take each other's hands with fingers intertwined, and walk over to stand between Alura's and Zor-El's chairs. Kara places a hand on Alura's shoulder, Lena places one on Zor-El's shoulder, they both grin sweetly, and say in unison, "We have some very important, exciting news to share with you."
