Rose was at the ceremony for the marriage of Edward Elric and Winry Rockbell. She was their for the cake, the love, the tears. Tears fell from all faces, although her's were for a different reason. She loved Edward Elric, and now she could never have him. She could never hate him or Winry, though. They had both done too much for her...
She wished, though, that Edward had chosen her. That he had not gone to his childhood love, but to her. She helped him...her parallel helped him. They had a connection together.
Winry was just a mechanic.
The pastor told Edward that he could kiss the bride. Rose's tears continued to fall now, but at a greater pace.
Why...? she thought, she couldn't help but think.
The ceremony ended soon, and Rose Thomas went home.

At home later, she sat in her bed, curled up and crying.
Edward...Edward...!
She cried for the love that she could no longer have. The one that was taken from her...no, that she never had a chance for.
The phone started ringing, and she got up. But she didn't pick up the ringing phone.
She walked past it, and opened the door to her bathroom. While in there, she took out a razor from the drawer.
The phone continued to ring, the sound blazing in Rose's ears.
She took the razor and sliced down into the skin of her wrist, slicing the vein. She sliced many times, and watched the blood flow. As her life slowly ebbed away, she heard the answering machine pick up, and the message start.
"Hey, Rose, it's Edward. I just wanted to call to see how you're doing..."
Rose heard no more, and she fell to the ground. She was dead.

The Message on the Answering Machine:
"Hey Rose, it's Edward. I just wanted to call and see how you were doing, but I guess you're not home right now. Look, I'm sorry. I...I loved both you and Winry, but I couldn't decide which one of you to choose. Heh...maybe I should have simply switched to that religion where you can have many wives. But that's against my morals. In any case, I bet you want the reason why I chose Winry over you. I'm sorry that I had to...and this is why. I...I think you still might be...hurt...over that whole Cain incident. I just didn't want you to get hurt again, in case I died. Rose...I guess you'll get home eventually, and hear this message. When you do...remember all of the good times, y'here? Again...I'm sorry."

Author's Note: I know, I know...hate me. I just simply had to do a fanfiction like this, eventually. Poor Rose, right? If only she had waited...
There's a moral to this story... (sad smile.)
